My friend introduced me to chagee when I first opened at the UTC and I have been in love with it! I have been getting the peach oolong tea latte, which has an insane amount of caffeine, but I totally need it to get through my school! The refresher has less caffeine but they have been heaven sent for these hot days. The workers there are so nice and accommodating. I do feel bad because it has been very hot and there is no indoor area so there's no AC. But they have continue to pump the drinks out like nothing hahaha I would so give this location, a five out of five stars but the only thing I don't like is that there is no areas where I can sit inside with an AC or plugs to do schoolwork. There are outdoor seating though. It's just a nice pick me up for when I'm just walking around UTC !

This is where and how one should drink tea. Fragrant good tea without the extra toppings. One can really taste the tea instead of milk and bobas. As a first timer, I ordered the Boya Jasmine Green Tea Latte. Will look forward to trying out the bold black tea. I also like that the nutrition values are posted on the cup. Service was quick maybe because it was a weekday evening. The people working behind the counter was friendly. There are a few tables outside to sit, enjoy the tea, and watch the world go by This was recommended by a friend and lived up to the hype. Downloaded the app. It will be my frequent tea store now.

It seems like UTC is collecting all the hot and new spots! Chagee is a Chinese milk tea chain famed for their fragrant teas and drinks. My first time at Chagee was in Hong Kong. It was definitely one of the best milk teas I've ever had. You can imagine my excitement to hear that they were coming to SD! I came in with high hopes and got the same drink I got in Asia- a Peach Oolong Milk Tea. It... sadly fell pretty short. It was watery, lacked tea flavor, and had no creaminess to it. Far from my first fond memory of Chagee. What I do love about this location is its beautiful branding and airy outdoor concept. Love how open it is and the plentiful seating options!

Came to this mall to have Chagee! Had the amber oolong tea latte. It was so delicious! There is some seating available outdoors. Service was quick and friendly! One of my favorite milk tea lattes place! I went to locations internationally so was excited to see SD has a location. Can't wait to try out other flavors!

I was recommended by my friend to Jasmine Green Tea Citrus Refresher. I got a large with less sweet . It was really refreshing and the lemon citrus flavor stood out. However, I am not the biggest fan of sour and it was a bit too sour for me. I definitely want to come back and try the other items on their menu. I ordered through the app so it was available at pick up. When I went to pick up, the line was not long. I like how they give you a cute bag when you pick up your drink. This place is located inside UTC Mall. There is an outdoor seating area to sit and chat. What I like most is their app. It gives you estimated wait time. But what I love is that they provide a nutrition menu/data. As someone who tracks their calories and nutrition, it's hard to estimate calories when eating out. I appreciate that they provide calories so I can log it. I highly recommend Chagee, and I honestly get cravings for this place ever since they opened.

So after all the hype and the long lines, I did want to try this place and I found a day to actually try this out and see how the taste was. I appreciate how you can substitute milk and you can also adjust for sugar and ice like other places. What is unique is that the tea is very apparent I got the Boya Jasmine green tea latte and you can see from the pictures they tell you the amount of caffeine and calories that are in each cup. The place is beautifully decorated, and I would say that the overall feels pretty fancy that you even have leashes for you keep your dog nearby It's very thought out I would say for the decor and overall fancy it's a four star but for some reason, I just didn't see any value in a seven dollar drink that didn't really stand out to me

Staff at the airy Chagee tea store served busy crowds during their grand opening weekend. Open and airy outdoor seating is available for patrons. I enjoyed my drinks: Roasted Black tea latte, and a Peach oolong milk tea.

Cute red colored Chagee merch - I definitely liked the red horse ornaments!

I learned about this place chatting with Emmett at a Yelp IRL event recently so figured I would make my way over to see what all the fuss is about regarding this new tea place. I grew up drinking various teas as my ancestral roots are from both Taiwan and China, which are both places where tea is good and ubiquitous. This modern tea house comes from Yunnan China and I read up a little about the history of this place. The place is named after a famous Chinese opera, Ba Wan Cha Ji, which I am not entirely sure how that is tied back to teas, but okay. Seems this company has also had some problems in Malaysia and Vietnam (Some Vietnamese boycotting the place after an incident around the company using the nine dash line in their app - which may not respect certain countries based on geographic maps). Wow, that's not a great, is it? But, as for the name of the place, I now understand their opera logo. I waited in line for about 25min as it seems the hype hasnt died down as this is the first location in SD. Line was moving and lady taking my order was nice, fast and efficient. I ordered the peach oolong citrus tea fresher. I am normally a milk tea drinker but came from a hot yoga class and its summer, so wanted something to cool me off. This is an iced drink but you cannot adjust the ice level but you can adjust the sugar level and I got it reduced. I waited another 5 min or so and then my drink came out. Tje have an efficient numbering system. You can definitely taste the peach accents and oolong flavor, however, sadly, this drink was too sweet for me. I dont have much sugar in my diet, so that drink definitely jolted me awake. It was a good drink but it wasnt mindblowing at all. It tasted like a well made Arnold Palmer Asian style. I dont know if I would stand in line again to get another drink as it wasnt like out of this world good for me. But, I would be happy to come back another day. But with prices on the higher side, $8 for a drink, I think the next time I return will be when its cooler and I can try out one of their warm drinks. Nice addition to UTC Westfield, fun spot! Come experience it for yourself!

The First time I tried this Chagee Tea was in Ontario . They were pretty good, so I'm glad they opened one here in La Jolla San Diego. It was a very hot day when I came and I wanted something refreshing. Guava is my favorite fruit, so it was an easy pick for me which one to choose when I saw a guava refresher, I ordered the Iced Guava Jasmin Citrus . Took a lot of time for my drink to be made , i was expecting the staff to be quick prepping the drinks like the one I experienced in their Ontario soft opening. I got perfect seating with an umbrella that gave good shade on this summer heat; there are a couple of seats to sit on but less shade. I see most of the ones that ordered are trying to squeeze into whatever small shade they can coz that sun is high up and so hot. When my drinks came, I chugged it quickly coz I was really thirsty but I didn't taste any Guava on my Guava Jasmin drink , all I tasted was the Citrus part of the Tea refresher . But still, it's a good drink but I was hoping there's more guava flavor in it. I will be back to try their Hot tea when the weather gets cooler.

Excited that Chagee is finally in San Diego! Came by on a Saturday afternoon and ordered ahead on the app and the drink was ready quickly. The line didn't look too long and it wasn't too crowded. The space was nice and airy with only outdoor seating. I tried the peach oolong tea latte which was refreshing and not too sweet at regular sweetness. The peach flavor was nice and the tea flavor shined through. Decent size and price and the branding is beautiful. I would come back to try the other drinks.

CHAGEE has finally made their way to San Diego! I came on a Saturday afternoon and placed my order via the app for pickup and my drink was ready quickly. The line to order didn't look too long. The design is very nice and modern, but there is only outdoor seating. I got the peach oolong tea latte, which was refreshing, not too sweet at the regular sweetness, and the peach flavor was a nice strength. The price and size were decent, and the cup and takeout bag felt like really nice quality. I would come back to try more of their drinks, can't wait for their Zion market location to open!

I've gone here far too many times since they've opened than I care to admit. While they don't have your typical tapioca boba pearls, what they do specialize in is quality milk teas / teas. My favorites are their signature boya jasmine and their matcha series line. I'm so glad they implemented an online ordering system so I can order as I make my way over there. Their outdoor pick up setup is organized and neat. Quick note about their online ordering, sometimes their time estimates can be really off (shorter than the estimate) my 1 hour estimate was ready in 30 mins. The only bad thing is how close this is to me and how much I'll be fueling up on milk tea. So much for diet

    - the staff here are so attentive and sweet! - the storefront is small with few seating in the front but it was comfortable and not so crowded - I got the boya jasmine milk tea - this was so refreshing! The tea flavor was strong not bitter and nicely floral. The cream could have a thicker mouthfeel but other than that it was delicious and light

Peach oolong tea latte, Ceylon black tea latte (middle): my favorite!, and Boya Jasmine Green Tea latte

I wanted something a little extra, and this spot delivered. I ordered a custom lavender iced matcha with honey cold foam and wow... it was such a good call. It added the perfect touch of sweetness without making the drink feel heavy. Every sip was smooth, balanced, and honestly kind of addicting. What really stood out though was the service. It was my first time and I had zero clue what to get, but the girl at the register was so sweet and patient. She took her time helping me figure out a combo I'd love and made the whole experience feel really welcoming instead of rushed. You can also customize your milk (coconut, etc.), which I always appreciate. The shop itself is adorable. Think soft pink, super cute, aesthetic vibes all around. There's even an upstairs area that's set up for tea parties, which is such a fun touch and makes it feel a little more special than your average coffee spot. They also have pastries and small bites, so it's not just drinks if you're feeling snacky. Overall, this place is such a vibe. Great drinks, genuinely kind service, and a space that makes you want to hang out a little longer. Definitely coming back to try more of their menu.

We thought most italian places would provide some sort of complimentary bread, but this place did not. We ended up ordering the Carbonara, Fusilli Alla Vodka, Pappardelle, and Salsiccia pizza. Each were fantastic, but the family really enjoyed the Fusilli and the Pappardelle the most! The short rib meat was extremely tender and flavorful. Portions were a little smaller than expected, but it was enough to feed each of us with a couple slices of pizza to spare. Ambiance was nice and the staff was great. That being said, I do think there are a few areas where this coffee shop could improve, especially when it comes to customer service. Unfortunately, the atmosphere didn't feel particularly warm or inviting. Several of the employees seemed to simply stare at customers rather than greeting them or offering any assistance. With coffee and dining out becoming more expensive, I think customer service can really make a difference in whether someone chooses to come back. When employees take the time to get to know their regular customers, make recommendations, or simply make you feel welcomed, it adds so much more value to the experience. Overall, Portal has some great food options, a nice patio, and reasonably priced coffee, but I think improving the customer service and creating a more welcoming atmosphere would make a big difference.
