One of the best boba I've ever had!! It wasn't too busy when my wife and I arrived but it certainly got busy a bit later. They have most of the usual boba/milk tea options and they have some fruit options as well. There's a good amount of tables and seem like a quality spot for people to use their laptops for work, etc. They have a shelf that has some board/card games which is perfect for people hanging out. Service is pretty fast and staff is friendly. There's a restroom for customers to use which is nice. Parking - Free in a large shared parking lot Noted that they have monthly rotational drinks, always keep a look out on those as they're quite unique. A drink that was super tasty was the Chrysanthemum Milk Tea. I was super impressed with the texture and the floral taste of the drink. Not super overpowering and very tasty to sip. Other standout drinks that were just as tasty is the Barley Milk Tea. Highly recommend both drinks. Many come here for their boba and they're absolutely correct. Their boba is the first I've seen ever. Of all the boba spots I've been, their boba has that super soft and sweet feel. Amazing texture, and just perfect. Not too tough nor too soft. I would get the boba itself because it's just that good. Overall, a wonderful boba shop that is pretty popular and has plenty of quality drinks. A great place to hangout and definitely on my revisit list whenever in the area. Would be ideal if they had a shop near SGV/LA area since their drinks are top notch.
Small, local tea shop - they have some really unique offerings (the tea Frescas! We tried the strawberry one; so delicious - very fresh fruit forward). I really enjoyed the Jasmine coffee milk tea; the tea and coffee flavors were well balanced with each other. You could really taste each distinctly. And the coffee jelly topping is a must!

They also allow you to sample their plain teas to help you decide on the perfect drink to order. * Chrysanthemum Milk Tea w/ Grass Jelly - 8.2/10 (i love how the flavor is very strong with floral notes. there is no caffeine in this drink, but the tea reminds me of the yeo canned drinks in the best way possible! very minor but i just wish the grass jelly wasn't in tiny pieces but whole chunks) * Hojicha Milk Tea w/ Boba - 7.8/10 (the hojicha flavor was a bit on the light side. the milk tea felt slightly watered down. the honey boba added a nice sweetness. this is something i would get again if i was really craving hojicha but it is not my first option)
I tried the oolong milk tea with boba (regular sweetness), and the reviews weren't kidding when they said "floral forward." The boba was a little soft for my personal preference, and the tea itself was lighter than I would have expected oolong tea to be. The tea itself tasted more floral than tea-like if that makes sense, which wasn't what I was expecting either. Regular sweetness is also pretty sweet and I would probably have gotten half sweet instead. The service was very quick though since the tea is pre-batched and is simply put into a cup after your order. There were some tables right outside the cafe too. I personally won't be coming back, but if you like floral drinks, this might be perfect for you.

Fast forward a couple years later, I visit San Diego and come back to try their matcha milk tea again. It was fine/pretty good, but not extraordinary as I remember it being. Perhaps it's because I've now tried matcha lattes from many other places and my matcha repertoire has expanded (lol). But I still stand by the quality of their teas here. Got to sample the agua frescas and the mango jasmine tea had strong jasmine flavor. The blueberry chrysanthemum worked so well together. The lemon black tea was yummy. Would go back if I'm in San Diego again, but probably not for the matcha milk tea. It's also a great place to work! Lots of seating and free wifi.

It was a bit busy since it was a rainy day, but we were served quickly, and the outdoor seating is a nice option. Still one of our favorite spots for unique tea flavors in SD.

I enjoyed a matcha milk tea with tofu pudding, while my husband got the scottish caramel milk tea. That one was really interesting and tasty! This spot is very popular! There was a long line that moved quickly and many people coming to get a drink. The seasonal menu was also really popular and they were offering a sample if you wanted to taste before pulling the trigger. There's a decent amount of seating inside with some tables outside as well.
tried out Camellia Rd upon word of mouth, and can definitely say their boba is good quality! very close to being 10/10. the barley milk tea is tea-forward and nutty. also ordered the scottish caramel at 50% sweet, and unfortunately was not really into it. it was a bit watery yet too sweet at the same time. however, their boba made up for it.
Love this boba shop! My go to order is a Jasmine Green milk tea with oat milk, and boba. Always hits the spot. The tea is perfectly brewed with rich, unburnt flavor. Camellia has weekly specials - my favorites are the strawberry variants. Most recently, they were running a strawberry barley. I am looking forward to the return of the strawberry hojicha. Something I noticed about Camellia is the service is always lightning quick even during a rush. I consistently found that I only wait a couple of minutes before getting my drinks even when I have a larger order of 4+ drinks. Operations are refined to a science here! There's plenty of seating inside and strong AC when it is hot.

I also tried their oolong milk tea and it was good, but I think I like chrysanthemum better since it's a less common option at boba shops. They were very quick with the drinks. Seating is plentiful and they also have some games for you to play!
Absolutely love this boba place! They consistently have great chamomile and jasmine tea with or without tea. They also have fun new teas that the staff are happy to let you taste. The staff is also great about advising you about the best tea to try. The boba is always nice and chewy without being soggy. In fact, the tea here is so great that we had them cater a boba table for our wedding. They were very difficult to reach, but they did come through for us. They brought their own stand with my favorite chamomile and jasmine boba, and they were great with normal tea and milk tea as well. Our guests all loved it too! On our last visit, it was so nice to sit down in the abundance of chairs and play all the games in this cozy little tea bar. Highly recommend relaxing here for a bit and doing work or playing a game with friend(s)!
Tried their double matcha at 100% sweetness and it was a bit too sweet for me even though I prefer sweeter drinks. I can taste the matcha and it's strong and smooth so I would get it again at less sweetness. Pretty pricey but the size is big. Service was pretty quick and there was no line to order on a Sunday afternoon. There's a good amount of indoor seating with some outdoors.
Camellia Rd Tea Bar has officially become my favorite boba shop in San Diego. If you really appreciate tea and enjoy drinks where the tea actually shines instead of being covered up by sugar, you need to give this place a try. Parking can be a little annoying since it's in Kearny Mesa, but that's just part of the area. Once you're inside though, it's a great place to hang out. There's plenty of seating if you want to catch up with friends, study, or just relax for a bit. The staff here are always so welcoming. They work quickly without making you feel rushed and every visit has been consistently friendly. This visit we decided to branch out and try the Scottish Caramel Milk Tea. Unfortunately, it just wasn't for us. It leaned a little too artificial and the almond flavor overpowered everything else. It reminded me more of butterscotch than caramel. If you're into those buttery, nutty flavors, you might enjoy it more than we did, but I don't think I'd order it again. The Jasmine Milk Tea is absolutely incredible. The tea actually tastes like jasmine instead of just tasting sweet. It's floral, refreshing, and perfectly balanced without feeling overpowering. You can tell they care about the quality of their tea and that's what makes this place stand out from so many other boba shops. The boba is also consistently perfect every single visit. Wow surprisingly really delicious, more tea forward milk tea. I ordered the Camellia Black Tea with oat milk and honey boba and it was absolutely delicious! I've been here twice already, and it really hit the spot both times. I like how customizable everything is You can tell the staff works hard because it's the same person who takes your order and makes your drink. Of course, the drinks are on the pricier side, and having to pay an extra dollar for oat milk, but it is what it is. At least you can customize the milk! It's a great location given how it's right next to Daiso and the freeway. I'd say this is one of my favorite places to get boba now because of the quality and how tea-forward the drinks are, which is what I prefer personally. Highly recommend! read more
After having lunch nearby, my husband and I stopped by this boba tea shop for some drinks. I am so glad that we did because the drinks here were super good. It is clear that they use high quality, loose leaf tea with real sweeteners. The teas tasted natural without any artificial powder or syrup. Chrysanthemum Milk Tea had a floral and delicate taste that I really enjoyed. Barley Milk Tea had a nice nutty flavor. I highly recommend adding the honey boba topping with any drink. The boba was so soft and chewy and delicious. Also really liked the vibes of this shop. There is a decent amount of seating inside, as well as card games and board games that are free to use. The tables were clean, staff was friendly, and service was quick. I would love to see a Camellia Rd location open up in LA someday. read more

Consistently come here and it's always delicious but today was particularly so! The banana matcha latte is delicious and one of the best ones I've had! I got it less sweet and it was perfect. The pineapple hibiscus is also very refreshing and a perfect balance of the two flavors read more

Came back to try their new winter special, the double matcha! I got it at 100% sweet and it was a bit too sweet for me, even though I usually like drinks on the sweeter side. I like that the matcha taste was strong but the sweetness became a bit overwhelming. Pricey but the drink is a large size. BEST BOBA SPOT, ALL TIME FAV. Lots of seating, also outside seating. Good spot for studying or to chill, there are many game boards offered. Drinks neveeeerrr miss. My favorite is the Scottish caramel, they really nail the earthy taste. Also tried their corn milk tea, you get a taste of roasted corn and with nut and it's a very pleasant combination. Got a sip of their blueberry chrysanthemum and it's a very balanced flowery taste. Not too strong not too little. Service is fast as well. I come here everytime I visit San Diego, hopefully they come to Charlotte one day lol. read more
just updating to say the mango hibiscus was great. i wouldn't have thought to put those two flavors together. also liked the pineapple mint oolong, again all 3 flavors came through strongly in a perfectly complementary way. camellia is officially my fav fruit tea spot now. they also keep rly well in the fridge read more

Plenty of parking and it was quite busy when we walked in. Which, after trying their boba, I believe is well deserved. The Chrysanthemum tea with honey boba was quite pleasant. It gets quite floral the longer the drink sits. The blueberry matcha was stunning and had the earthy, slightly bitter deep matcha flavor. Which was balanced by the blueberry syrup. The service was fast and there are a few tables for seating. A must go tea bar if you're in San Diego. read more

They give you samples if you ask for one, but it doesn't come with milk or sweetener --just fyi. I thought it was nice because it allowed me to try different teas that I wasn't sure of the flavor profiles even though they have descriptions. I tasted the Genmaicha Tea which was described as nutty and toasty green tea-- Japanese sencha & roasted brown rice. And it was also described as savory. The savory threw me off-- but it was quite...the experience in taste. Let's just say it wasn't for me. Run down of the ordering-- teas are made to order. You choose your tea, sweetness level, what kind of milk you want or none, and then toppings! Prices of drinks will vary because toppings is about ~.70 cents and non dairy milks is ~.50 cents additional. In the end, I decided to get the $6.35, Oolong Tea (Light & Floral-- reminiscent of Green Tea), 75% Sweetness, Honey Boba! It was interesting because the color of the tea turned out to be a pale yellow which I've never seen. It was light and floral, the description was spot on. The boba was perfectly cooked and they gave a nice amount! The honey flavor was subtle and worked well with the tea. This is my friends favorite spot, he mentioned his fav and that's the Chrysanthemum Tea (Floral, Delicate-- slightly sweet herbal tea with goji berries). He highly recommends it. But when we went (Friday) he decided to try something new and ordered the $6.85, Earl Grey Tea (floral, citrus notes-- black tea with bergamot and lavender), 75% Sweetness, Oat Milk, and Chia Seeds. The flavor of this was not as light as the oolong, nicely pronounced... and I could really taste the lavender-- the chia seeds were beautifully bloomed as well. If you're a lavender latte fan, you would probably enjoy this TEA flavor! It would probably also be good with the honey boba. They have lots of indoor seating as well as a few outdoor seats. Even though there was a line, the drinks were made efficiently and neatly. They call out your name when it's ready to be picked up. Would recommend this spot! read more

First time here and tried their Matcha. Apparently this is a sweeter drink and even ordering 75% sweetness it was still sweet. I ordered it with lactose-free milk which is an extra $0.50 (ended up paying $8.00). I don't know yet how I feel about this matcha because of the sweetness - it's hard to taste the matcha. I honestly taste the milk more than the matcha and what I figured out was that my drink didn't take long to make so it makes me wonder what kind of matcha they're working with. It's a very chill spot. I like their simple drinks menu. Nothing too crazy. Staff was friendly. Not much I can say other than perhaps I need to try their Hong Kong Milk Tea next. read more
Camellia Rd Tea Bar is a chill and charming tea shop with some amazing loose leaf tea drinks. This spot is located in a plaza with a good amount of parking spots. Inside, they have a cozy interior with about 5-6 tables and an additional 2 tables for seating outside. For their menu, they have their specialty seasonal drinks and then a more customizable approach to design your own drink. Wifey and I ended up getting the Blueberry Chrysanthemum and the Oolong Milk Tea with Tofu Pudding. Both drinks were refreshing with interesting flavor profiles. Overall, we enjoyed the communal and laid back vibes of the shop. All of the staff here are very friendly and welcoming. This is a great place to unwind and a grab a high quality and refreshing beverage! read more

First time here. I enjoyed the vibe can definitely see myself studying here! It was recommended by a friend and the drinks did not disappoint. The service was friendly and attentive. I would come back here again. the drinks: were really tasty and pretty much exactly what i expected from premium tea drinks. are the tea premium? i am not sure, but it is premium quality that's for sure. Decided to finally try this place after Camellia was mentioned a lot of Reddit as the best tea house in SD. I can see why people love this place. Their tea have a very distinct and strong taste which I think people love and they even let you sample the brewed tea before deciding which one to get. I stuck with the classic Thai tea because I'm so basic and wanted to play safe. It probably was the best Thai tea I've ever had and I'm an avid Thai tea drinker. I love how the staff helped me pick what my tea preference was and their prices were very reasonable. I might come back to try their other seasonal flavors. read more

If you like tea, you'll really like this place. Camellia Road has some of the most unique tea flavors I've seen anywhere. I got the strawberry banana hojicha tea fresca with boba and it was super refreshing. The hojicha gives it that roasted tea flavor, and the fruit combo made it really light and smooth. Also, I came around 6 p.m. and the boba was still super fresh, soft, and chewy--so good! It's also a great place to hang out with friends. They have plenty of tables for chatting, studying, or even playing board games. The space is cozy and clean, and the vibe is really relaxed. Another flavor we tried was the puer tea, which was rich and authentic--perfect if you like something deeper and more traditional. They also have unique options like banana tea milk tea, which you don't see often. Bonus points for free and easy parking in the lot. Definitely a 5 out of 5 for me! read more
