This is my favorite boba place in all of San Diego. I just love how they do monthly specialty drinks and I love the variety and being able to try new fun drinks. My favorite ones they've done so far is the blueberry mint mojito, banana milk matcha, and pineapple mint oolong. No matter the drink, you can really taste the tea flavor which is something I look for and prioritize at a boba or tea place. The store is always clean and has ample seating, making it a great study or hangout spot. Camellia Rd. Tea Bar is one of my favorite tea spots in San Diego. The teas are excellent, and you can actually taste the tea instead of just the sweetness. I also love that they let you sample the teas before ordering, and if your drink isn't sweet enough, they'll adjust the sweetness for you. It's a great place to study or work with free Wi-Fi, restrooms, and plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. The staff are always friendly and provide great service. They work quickly without making you feel rushed and every visit has been consistently friendly. This visit we decided to branch out and try the Scottish Caramel Milk Tea. Unfortunately, it just wasn't for us. It leaned a little too artificial and the almond flavor overpowered everything else. It reminded me more of butterscotch than caramel. If you're into those buttery, nutty flavors, you might enjoy it more than we did, but I don't think I'd order it again. The Jasmine Milk Tea is absolutely incredible. The tea actually tastes like jasmine instead of just tasting sweet. It's floral, refreshing, and perfectly balanced without feeling overpowering. Wow surprisingly really delicious, more tea forward milk tea. I ordered the Camellia Black Tea with oat milk and honey boba and it was absolutely delicious! I've been here twice already, and it really hit the spot both times. I like how customizable everything is You can tell the staff works hard because it's the same person who takes your order and makes your drink. Of course, the drinks are on the pricier side, and having to pay an extra dollar for oat milk, but it is what it is. At least you can customize the milk! It's a great location given how it's right next to Daiso and the freeway. The boba was a little soft for my personal preference, and the tea itself was lighter than I would have expected oolong tea to be. The tea itself tasted more floral than tea-like if that makes sense, which wasn't what I was expecting either. Regular sweetness is also pretty sweet and I would probably have gotten half sweet instead. Perhaps it's because I've now tried matcha lattes from many other places and my matcha repertoire has expanded (lol). But I still stand by the quality of their teas here. Got to sample the agua frescas and the mango jasmine tea had strong jasmine flavor. The blueberry chrysanthemum worked so well together. The lemon black tea was yummy. I have been going here for years but idk WHAT HAS HAPPENED. My friend & I came on a Saturday afternoon and ordered the strawberry rose tea Fresca and I got a strawberry rose mixed with strawberry hojicha tea fresca. We have been in SEVERE GI distress since having these tea frescas. After doing some further investigation another Yelper in the last couple weeks also recently complained of severe GI issues after drinking the strawberry rose. Do not recommend coming here again. My friend unfortunately has it worse than I do with her GI issues since she had a full cup of the strawberry rose, whereas I had a mixed cup of strawberry rose and strawberry hojicha. No idea what's going on with their drinks but clearly there is something wrong going on for several weeks if someone has the exact same complaint that we have! read more

The savory threw me off-- but it was quite...the experience in taste. Let's just say it wasn't for me. Run down of the ordering-- teas are made to order. You choose your tea, sweetness level, what kind of milk you want or none, and then toppings! Prices of drinks will vary because toppings is about ~.70 cents and non dairy milks is ~.50 cents additional. In the end, I decided to get the $6.35, Oolong Tea (Light & Floral-- reminiscent of Green Tea), 75% Sweetness, Honey Boba! It was interesting because the color of the tea turned out to be a pale yellow which I've never seen. It was light and floral, the description was spot on. The boba was perfectly cooked and they gave a nice amount! The honey flavor was subtle and worked well with the tea. This is my friends favorite spot, he mentioned his fav and that's the Chrysanthemum Tea (Floral, Delicate-- slightly sweet herbal tea with goji berries). He highly recommends it. But when we went (Friday) he decided to try something new and ordered the $6.85, Earl Grey Tea (floral, citrus notes-- black tea with bergamot and lavender), 75% Sweetness, Oat Milk, and Chia Seeds. The flavor of this was not as light as the oolong, nicely pronounced... and I could really taste the lavender-- the chia seeds were beautifully bloomed as well. If you're a lavender latte fan, you would probably enjoy this TEA flavor! It would probably also be good with the honey boba. They have lots of indoor seating as well as a few outdoor seats. I am a regular at Camellia Rd Tea Bar. All of the workers are kind and helpful. The location is always kept clean. There are two large tables meant for bigger groups inside, and a lot of small tables for individuals or couples to seat inside or outside. It is a great place to study or work, so a lot people tend to take the tables on the weekends. There is also seating available on benches for those waiting for their to-go drinks. I've had the pleasure of trying each of their tea flavors. My favorites are matcha, oolong, jasmine, and puer. I really love that the iced milk teas are made to order, and that the sugar is customizable. The boba is always fresh with a good chew, but if you consume your drink too slowly the boba will harden more from exposure to the ice temperature. I've also dabbled in their monthly specials. I ordered it with lactose-free milk which is an extra $0.50 (ended up paying $8.00). I don't know yet how I feel about this matcha because of the sweetness - it's hard to taste the matcha. I honestly taste the milk more than the matcha and what I figured out was that my drink didn't take long to make so it makes me wonder what kind of matcha they're working with.
