Hot Latte

Parakeet Cafe was one of our favorite stops in Little Italy, San Diego! [[HIGHLIGHT]]From the moment we walked in, we loved the beautiful aesthetic, stylish decor, and relaxed atmosphere. Everything felt bright, welcoming, and picture-perfect.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Our lattes were delicious and served in the cutest pink coffee mugs. Such a fun touch that made the experience even more memorable. I ordered The Protein Waffle with an impressive 45g of protein, and it did not disappoint! The waffle was delicious, satisfying, and topped with an excellent vanilla whip that was fresh, light, and absolutely perfect. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We visited during the Little Italy Farmers Market, which made it even more enjoyable. It was the perfect place to sit back, relax, sip our coffee, and people-watch.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] A special shoutout to the staff! They checked in with us several times throughout our visit and were extremely knowledgeable about the menu. Their recommendations and attention to detail made us feel genuinely welcomed. Great food. Great coffee. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Beautiful atmosphere.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Outstanding service. Highly recommended if you're visiting Little Italy and looking for a place to enjoy a great meal, relax, and soak in the neighborhood vibes.

Didn't realize this was a chain at first, but the food and service still felt high quality and well executed. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Located right in Little Italy, this spot was busy nonstop, but the staff kept things moving quickly and everyone seemed well taken care of.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I ended up hanging out for a couple of hours before my flight home since it's conveniently close to the airport, and it was actually a great place to work from my laptop.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Never felt rushed or like I was overstaying my welcome, which I always appreciate at a busy café.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The food was genuinely delicious. I'll almost always order shakshuka if it's on a menu , and theirs did not disappoint. The tomato, spices, and cream were really well balanced. Also highly recommend the maple latte with oat milk.. slightly sweet & cozy.

What an amazing place! Everything was excellent. Fresh ingredients and fresh vegetables are the highlights of every dish. You just know eating at this place is great for your health!

Oh I didn't know this was a chain until just now. This place was not good and not worth it. Drinks were eh, pretty weak. Food was super plain and [[HIGHLIGHT]]I think you're really just going to eat here if you want to people watch or get nice pics for social or something.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Find something better especially in the middle of little Italy

[[HIGHLIGHT]]This place is very cute!!! It is large and very accommodating.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] One of my friends suggested it and we gave it a try. The matcha was good and I also got a chocolate croissant which was also good! Will definitely be coming back! Would be cool if they had actual parakeets around or at least stuffed ones or animatronic ones like the tiki room at Disneyland.

I love this place! I've been coming here for months to work and have breakfast and/or lunch. It has been wonderful every time. If they happen to mess up an order, they very kindly and quickly fix it, but they rarely mess up. The service is always quick and done well. I love the drinks. I've had several of them and haven't been dissatisfied once. Today I ordered the shakshouka and it was delicious. I had it with one of their green juices which was also really good. I have no idea how authentic the shakshouka it is, but as a standalone dish, I recommend it with the caveat that I'm neither Southwest Asian nor North African. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The ambiance is one of my very favorite things here.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I'm Covid cautious so look for places with patios and this place is the best of inside and out, so I can come when it's sprinkling or too hot out.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]They have a fully opened wall and always have had it open every time I've come.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]On Wednesdays the Little Italy Farmer's Market is right outside and I love to people watch while I work.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Just a fabulous, place with good food, service, and ambiance. It is a little pricey, but it's worth it for me because I come to work and tend to stay all day without anyone rushing or bothering me. So I get things throughout the time I'm here. Their space has good accessibility for mobility items users which I also really appreciate. I don't have any negative feedback at all.

Almond Croissant

One of my go-to spots--and it never disappoints. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The location is great, the staff is always friendly, and the food consistently hits the mark.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I recently tried the eggs Benedict on toast: two perfectly poached eggs on house-made sourdough, topped with pesto, fresh avocado, and sun-dried tomatoes. The flavors came together really well, and the sourdough --crispy on the edges with a soft, chewy center. Definitely recommend!

Our drinks!

We come here every year when we visit for Comic Con! The food is consistently delicious, service is quick and employees are nice. I love the selection of healthy choices and fun drinks! The decor is awesome too.

First off, their location is right on the corner of where the Little Italy market is. It's perfect if you want to be in the middle of it all, as everything is just a few steps away from you. I would come here just for the ambiance alone - from the neon lettering, to the parakeet graphics on their walls, mosaic bistro tables, and pink velvet seats, the aesthetics do their "parakeet" name justice, so 11/10 on the vibe. There are so many things to choose from their diverse healthy food options, from burritos, salads, bowls, waffles, and shakshukas, it's easy to find something here for everyone during breakfast. I got one of their specials, which was an "All i Avo Wanted," an over easy egg over a blue corn waffle. It's unique to them, so it's worth a try. I thought it was yummy, but a bit dry for me, even with the salsa, so I'd give it a 7/10. I was also tempted to get their coffee pie from their pastry box, and that was the perfect dessert 10/10. And of course I had to try out one of their infamous drinks, so I went with their cold cream matcha. It's a perfect blend of flavors and not too sweet 11/10. Overall, this place is one to to visit.

Oh gosh, this was by far my favorite breakfast in San Diego. Situated directly across the street from our hotel, Parakeet is chic and clean with such a welcoming vibe. We walked in not long after their 7 am opening and it was popping already -- for good reason. I tried to order healthy and went with a mushroom coffee, mango smoothie, and green eggs breakfast platter. Yes, the eggs were truly green. Every bite was delicious. I'm sad I filled up so quickly, but my boyfriend was super hyped to clear my plate in addition to his own! If I had more time in San Diego, we would've made a second trip for sure.

Everything about Parakeet Cafe was phenomenal! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place is adorable[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] and the food absolutely amazing.

The fruit waffle was good, but definitely should have had a little more fruit on it. Real maple syrup though!
Adriana M.

I'm a sucker for waffles and decided to give this place a try, especially because they use healthy ingredients, avoid seed oils, etc. It's a very cute cafe, nice ambiance. The waffle was tasty and I was happy to hear that it was served with real maple syrup. But I was disappointed in the amount of fruit, considering the price. (Check out the comparative photo of a slightly different waffle at the Coronado location... lots of fruit, not just a few slices.) The staff were friendly and answered all my questions.

Vanilla latte and Fruit Danish
Kayla H.

LOVE LOVE LOVE!! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Everything from the nice service, unique decor, and food options was great.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I decided to dine in and have a fruit pastry and vanilla latte. The latte was the right amount of sweet and the fruits on the pastry were delicious. I also love that they don't include additives in their recipes so you can feel good about what you're eating.

Do they have outlets to use for a laptop?

Hi, sorry we dont!

Coffee beans? How is the quality and taste of the beans for French press and pour overs? Does the shop do pour overs on site? Samples? I would hate to buy a big bag of beans without trying them

I appreciated the live music, though it did make conversation a bit difficult to hear. The drinks were sweet and strong! I recommend the Tangled Up in Blue The macaroni and cheese was the best appetizer. The wagyu tartare is actually quite spicy, and although tasty, we could not finish it because of the burn. The entrees were hot and cooked exactly as asked. You seriously get a bang for your buck with the portion size of the chicken parm! I also got some random corn surprises in my dish - I don't mind, but just something to be aware of in case you are allergic. I'm definitely coming back.

They have a smaller outdoor patio but a very large space indoors. We came right at 5 on a Wed and it wasn't too busy then but by the time we left at 7 it was packed. All night happy hour on Wednesday too! Their happy hour menu is slightly discounted (~$2-5) items from their main menu. We got some drinks, the chicken bao, brussel sprouts and charred broccoli. Broccoli was not on hh. For my drink I got the Grenache that was on hh. Unfortunately it was served super warm. It was a hot day but you'd think they'd put it somewhere cooler so it didn't get like that. I wouldn't get wine there again. For food the bao bun had a good variety of components. My only knock on it was that the chicken piece was tiny. That being said, it was well cooked and super crunchy texture which I loved. Brussel sprouts were delicious and crispy. The peanut sauce they use on it is perfect. The broccoli was decent. It ate much sweeter than I thought it would and the sauce made the labneh a little runny so it didn't stick to the broccoli well. Service was sooo friendly and very quick the whole night but we never felt rushed. I would definitely come back and try more.

It's got the decor, chairs, and art to match. Jessica was our server and she was amazing! She gave us lots of suggestions on what to try and what is on the menu since it was my first time here. She recommended the bloody Mary flight so did grab that to try! We also ordered the biscuits and gravy to share and orange juice. The portions are so large! So I am glad we decided to share the biscuits and gravy but let me run down each thing. Bloody Mary Flight: Honestly every single one was amazing. My favorite was definitely the pickle Mary! Everything tasted so delicious and was garnished beautifully. Well worth the 22 dollars. Biscuits and Gravy: Absolute perfection of comfort food. The biscuits were so fluffy and well seasoned. The gravy was also soooo good, just like my mom makes. The sausage in it was also cooked so well and juicy. I've never tried mashed potatoes with the biscuits and gravy but it worked very well! Orange Juice: Not a fan really, not pulpy enough and I wasn't a fan of the flavor. Overall this is definitely a must visit! I will definitely be back.

The food was amazing! In particular, I enjoyed the fried chicken and waffle tower and their roasted chicken hash. I was surprised they didn't include a side of butter along with their biscuits, but I'll probably just ask for it next time. One important thing to note is that their dishes are HUGE. All 6 of us had our own dishes, but I would highly highly recommend ordering a couple dishes and sharing it family style if you're dining with a group. One note I did have about Hash House is how overstimulating the menu is lol. The menu had a lot of clashing fonts, colors, and clip art images, it made it hard to digest the menu. I didn't even notice some menu offerings because of how busy the menu was. Also, our waitress did initially charge us for 6 coffees, even though we only had 3. It was a good thing we caught that error on the receipt before paying. Overall, the food at Hash House is definitely worth coming back for.

As if that wasn't enough, we walked in and realized it was trivia night, which immediately made the evening even better. While looking through the menu, I spotted a salmon bowl. I'm still pretty new to seafood and have recently discovered that I'm actually a big fan of raw salmon, so I figured this was the perfect opportunity to branch out. Well... surprise! For some reason I had convinced myself it was going to be a poke-style bowl with raw salmon, avocado, cucumbers, and all the usual toppings. Instead, it came out with cooked salmon. Even though it wasn't what I expected, the bowl was actually delicious. The funny part is I learned something about myself... I definitely prefer raw salmon over cooked salmon. Not a bad discovery to make over a good meal! The atmosphere was lively without being overwhelming, trivia kept the energy up all night, and the service was friendly from start to finish. Great place to grab a drink, catch up with friends, and maybe even learn something new about your own taste buds.

I was blown away! He remembered me and my order. I am not that regular a guest. He is just that amazing. And, it doesn't stop there.
