We were walking around looking for a place to eat and a local couple suggested this place. Very cute little cafe with a lot of fresh and healthy options. Conveniently located right by the little Italy farmers market. There's a self serve water station and self seating. You line up to order your food and they will give you a number and bring it to your table. Although the line looked long, it moved at a relatively quick pace. We really enjoyed our food and everything looked so colorful and appealing with fresh fruits and vegetables on top. A great brunch spot! This location is right across from Morning Glory, which usually has a long line, but honestly, Parakeet is just as good, it just doesn't have the same hype. There's a weekend market nearby, which is a cute way to walk around while you wait. They have good pastries, breakfast options, and lattes. Busy cafe in the heart of little Italy, we stopped in during one of the weekend farmers markets and it was a great catch up spot. Despite the popularity it wasn't too loud in the space. Service was super fast and friendly and they bring your order to your table for you. I love this place! I've been coming here for months to work and have breakfast and/or lunch. It has been wonderful every time. If they happen to mess up an order, they very kindly and quickly fix it, but they rarely mess up. The service is always quick and done well. I love the drinks. I've had several of them and haven't been dissatisfied once. Today I ordered the shakshouka and it was delicious. I had it with one of their green juices which was also really good. I have no idea how authentic the shakshouka it is, but as a standalone dish, I recommend it with the caveat that I'm neither Southwest Asian nor North African. The ambiance is one of my very favorite things here. I'm Covid cautious so look for places with patios and this place is the best of inside and out, so I can come when it's sprinkling or too hot out. They have a fully opened wall and always have had it open every time I've come. On Wednesdays the Little Italy Farmer's Market is right outside and I love to people watch while I work. Just a fabulous, place with good food, service, and ambiance. It is a little pricey, but it's worth it for me because I come to work and tend to stay all day without anyone rushing or bothering me. So I get things throughout the time I'm here. Their space has good accessibility for mobility items users which I also really appreciate. I don't have any negative feedback at all. read more

First off, their location is right on the corner of where the Little Italy market is. It's perfect if you want to be in the middle of it all, as everything is just a few steps away from you. I would come here just for the ambiance alone - from the neon lettering, to the parakeet graphics on their walls, mosaic bistro tables, and pink velvet seats, the aesthetics do their "parakeet" name justice, so 11/10 on the vibe. There are so many things to choose from their diverse healthy food options, from burritos, salads, bowls, waffles, and shakshukas, it's easy to find something here for everyone during breakfast. I got one of their specials, which was an "All i Avo Wanted," an over easy egg over a blue corn waffle. It's unique to them, so it's worth a try. I thought it was yummy, but a bit dry for me, even with the salsa, so I'd give it a 7/10. I was also tempted to get their coffee pie from their pastry box, and that was the perfect dessert 10/10. And of course I had to try out one of their infamous drinks, so I went with their cold cream matcha. It's a perfect blend of flavors and not too sweet 11/10. Oh gosh, this was by far my favorite breakfast in San Diego. Situated directly across the street from our hotel, Parakeet is chic and clean with such a welcoming vibe. We walked in not long after their 7 am opening and it was popping already -- for good reason. I tried to order healthy and went with a mushroom coffee, mango smoothie, and green eggs breakfast platter. Yes, the eggs were truly green. Every bite was delicious. It's pretty pricey considering it's grab and go. Our coffee and late's were good. My partner enjoyed the French omelette sandwich. I ordered a side of Turkey bacon. It was completely chewy and inedible. We didn't have anyone come and check on us. I had to find someone and ask them to cook my bacon extra crispy. It took over 20 minutes. Known for fresh fare and healthy eats, they've got a big indoor cafe with plenty of seating. Even on a Saturday morning with all of the farmers market vendors outside, they still tend to draw a solid crowd. While I enjoyed my bites from the market, I wanted a matcha latte with almond milk (so many farmers market vendors only do oat). Parakeet Cafe makes their own homemade almond milk, which is such a treat! It's so delicious and almost gives the latte a horchata like taste. It was a standout. I was a little nervous when I saw they were using a premixed matcha but the almond milk made it so worth it and I'll definitely be back for it again! read more

Cool little cafe right next to the Little Italy Market. It is within walking distance from Downtown SD, the Midway Museum, and the Coastline. Parking is as you can expect, a bit difficult, but nothing too bad. The place is very nice, well kept, and organized. Staff were super friendly and helpful. We definitely felt welcomed here. The food was good, not great, but definitely enjoyable. The service, however, was some of the strangest and most confusing I've experienced in a long time. For example, I tried paying with a $100 bill and had the exact 30 cents in change. The cashier initially told me she didn't have enough change, then checked and realized she did. But instead of simply giving me the remaining amount in bills, she gave me a bunch of coins and refused to exchange them for a dollar bill. Not a huge deal by itself, but it was pretty indicative of the service that followed. They placed our silverware directly on the outdoor table rather than on a napkin or anything sanitary, and at one point they started trying to bus our table while we were very clearly still eating. None of this completely ruined the experience, and the food was enjoyable. The service was just unusually awkward and poorly handled from beginning to end. There's a good amount of seating but can get crowded during popular times such as the farmer's market. This particular day was not crowded which is why we came. Anyway, we got the poke bowl and French omelette. The French omelette was very good. The tuna in the poke bowl was just okay, it didn't taste as fresh as others that I have had. But both dishes were filling. I like that they don't use seed oil. Service was good. The people working there were helpful and friendly. The main drawback to this location is finding parking.
