With its new neighbors in the Convoy Center, I feel bad for DaYung's Tea. This fruit tea shop is tucked away in a small corner suite between an Asian spa and an AYCE Korean BBQ restaurant. The parking situation was less than optimal which meant that drawing customers to this business during peak meal hours has become difficult. They are also not open on Monday and Tuesday which puts them at more of a disadvantage versus the competitors in the Convoy District. The emphasis on using fresh fruits to make their products seems to have lessened over time. For example, they used to have a basket at the service counter displaying various fruits, but I didn't see that anymore. Two self-service tablets were available to place an order. The menu screen hung above the one at the counter. I chose one of my go-to drinks which was a Mango Green Tea with less ice and boba pearls added. There was no available inside seating so I stood around and waited for my item which was rapidly prepared. The $6.99 cost for a 20 oz cup was on par with the local market prices. The fruitiness of the mango was prominent, however I felt the pearls were a bit undercooked and chewy. For my latest visit to DaYung's Tea, I gave the experience a three star rating. read more

I'm APPALLED that I hadn't posted a review for DaYung yet, considering the fact that it's one of my top shops for boba, like HELLO?? Tucked in the corner but still a gem of a tea shop is DaYung's Tea. I've tried a bunch of different drinks from here in the past and all were really good. My goto is the Roasted Oolong MT With boba, 30% sweetness, less ice and boy do I love it. The tea is such a kick; it's strong, flavorful, the drinks aren't too sweet (yes other places will make 30% sweetness still very sweet.. go figure) and boba consistency is chewy. The service is fast, the team there are respectful and nice, and the shop is small with a simple bench for seating and machines to order from so it's a convenient in and out stop for tea. Also there's a decent sized parking lot in front. Sometimes packed but traffic flows relatively smoothly there so just takes a bit of waiting. Drink quality is always consistent so this is definitely a highly recommended shop from me. When life gets too busy, the last thing I want to worry about is if the tea I'm ordering is going to be good or not. 100% will be back. Located in a plaza with shared restaurants, the parking lot is a bit small, so you may or may not be lucky with finding a parking spot here. The drinks didn't take too long to make since we were the only people there! It's also a bit too quiet, so it's kinda awkward LOL It said that the Pink Beauty is more like a slushee drink, but it's not at all. Which I'm also totally fine with that too. First sip of the drink and honestly... it's very mid haha. There's nothing really special about this drink tbh since none of the flavors were very prominent. At least it's a bit refreshing to have. I did also enjoy the jellies that came with it too. I tried the fruit tea here and it was also nothing too special. It tastes literally fruit and water, and light notes of tea. We always get something like this at Yi Fang, so this wasn't comparable to Yi Fang. It is grapefruit with aiyu jelly and aloe vera. If you're indecisive about what to get, I highly recommend the Pink Beauty. The Roasted Oolong was good but make sure to add toppings. The shop is very small and only really has a bench to sit on to wait. Probably fits 2-3 people. I made a trip to five different boba shops on Convoy to rank their "boba milk tea". I tried to get the closest to black tea if they had more than one option. I chose 100% sweetness and no ice (to eliminate dilution). Here are my ratings: 1 Camellia: boba milk tea, regular milk $6.38 2 Chakaa: ruby milk tea w brown sugar boba, regular milk $5.75 3 Tan-Cha: celon milk tea w caramel boba, non-dairy milk $7.25 4 Yun Tea House: Monkey King w boba, lactose-free house milk $7.28 5 DaYung: boba milk tea, non-dairy creamer $5.88 Caveats: I think DaYung made a mistake on the order because it had some ice in the drink when I picked it up. When I tasted it at home, it tasted watered down and completely bland, like there was no sugar. So I think instead of 100% sugar and 0% ice, they gave me 0% sugar and 100% ice. My friend called them to let them know of the mistake, and the manager offered to refund the money. That was incredibly nice of them to do so. In terms of the actual boba balls, DaYung's ranked #4. This is not a place to go study, this is more of an order and go type of place. There are no tables inside to sit at but they have a kiosk to order. Mango smoothie was really refreshing, tasted just like the big mangoes puréed and then the Brown Sugar drink was filled with toppings. I appreciate that they fill your drinks to the brim. One of my favorite fruit tea places. Honestly, it took a while for them to make our drinks, but it looked like they were blending the fruits for each drink individually rather than it being pre-made. I've tried their Watermelon Green Tea and the Pink Beauty. Both drinks are very refreshing. The Watermelon Green Tea is more on the sweeter side and definitely stronger in the watermelon taste than the green tea. When I told her it wasn't what I ordered, she became very rude and insisted she heard differently. She remade the drink while visibly angry and even said unpleasant words to me. I still did not receive a receipt or the correct drink. I hope the manager can address this employee's attitude and service. Finally the drink is not in a similar taste as I use to order. They have a happy hour from 2pm-5pm Monday to Thursday! You can get 15% off their drinks during that time. I used be a fan of their green milk tea, but recently it felt like they changed their tea leaves or milk to tea ratio. The milk tea I've been getting recently tasted very watered down, which was so disappointing because I used to really enjoy their green milk tea. I'm usually a roasted oolong milk tea type of person, but I wouldn't recommend it here because the taste of the roasted oolong is barely there and it tasted like I was drinking milk. I do like their boba though because it's on the softer side! The workers are very quick with making your order, which I appreciate. I haven't been here when they're busy before, so I'm not too sure with how well they keep up with many orders at once. Their drinks are delicious. I love their fruit teas and use of fresh fruits in everything that we went back twice on our trip. I've tried: oolong milk tea, 50% sugar and boba - strong tea taste and chewy boba Watermelon fresh - lots of watermelon blended into more of a slushy. Got boba as it reminds me of fruit drinks with boba in Taiwan. 70% sugar in this was perfect and was a seasonal drink. They seem to rotate specialities which is great to encourage new items. Jade lemon - tried both 70% and 50%. I'd opt for 50% as it is on the sweeter end. Aloe is the way to go with this and my boyfriend loves it so much, he keeps trying to find other joints that have a drink like this, but looks like Dayung is the only spot. Their orange beauty or orange green tea is something I'd like to try next. The cashier also recommended pink beauty but I'm not a fan of grapefruit - but I see many people enjoy it in the reviews. I would give this 3.5/5 stars. I ordered the Roasted Oolong Milk Tea with 70% sweet and less ice. They followed the less ice request, but with 70% sweet this drink was still pretty sweet. My friend got 50% sweet and it was still sweet but a little better adjusted to my liking. The flavor of the roasted oolong is strong and the sweetness is definitely there. I am so sad there isn't a DaYung located in NorCal (Silicon Valley)! I fell in love with their fruit teas at first sip! They don't use artificial syrups, it's all fresh fruit and you can definitely taste it! Pink Beauty: grapefruit tea with aloe vera and aiyu jelly at 30% sweetness is perfect (and I don't even like grapefruit!) Peach Green tea: peaches so fresh you can see the skin floating in your cup! I believe the peaches are blended with the tea so you don't get huge chunks. I got this at 30% sweetness and I think I could have gone even lower with the addition of aiyu jelly. Jasmine green milk tea: really creamy but that's not necessarily a good thing. There's an interesting flavor to it that I'm not really fond of so I wouldn't get it again. They absolutely know what they are doing when it comes to fruit teas so totally recommend coming for those! They have happy hour BOGO 50% from M-Th 2-5pm. Since they're located in a quieter corner of Convoy, they do close earlier than some other bubble tea shops. It was okay but lacked toppings and the sweetness wasn't quite right.
