I cannot recommend this school to others. My child sustained multiple injuries while enrolled. We had about 1 incident report per month that my child was there, culminating in an incident in which his hand was caught in a toy door. When my child hadn't started walking yet, they put him outside to crawl on hot concrete. I cannot tell you how much it hurt my heart to see my baby crawling on the hard pavement like that. One of the teachers, Jasmin, would fasten my son's diaper so tightly that the straps crossed. It left red marks on him, and I honestly think she should not be allowed to care for any children. I don't know how she sleeps at night knowing she did this to a baby at work. The only reason I'm not putting 1 star is because Stassia and the Rabbi are nice. However, because of Jasmin, I could not continue sending my child here. read more

Stasia , the Director is amazing !! It's a small school and honestly I like that because the child to teacher ratio is great. Teacher care and to me that's the most important. As a parent, it is an almost impossible task to find the perfect preschool. When you're browsing every place is exorbitantly expensive or is a bit run down (both, more often than not). Fortunately, Chai Preschool and Infant Center swooped in and saved the day. They have a fantastic facility, excellent staff, friendly management AND the rates are quite reasonable. When my daughter was first dropped off, she was miserable. After nearly two years of being exclusively with family, adjusting to a new and strange environment is tough. But, within the first week, she would smile whenever we would bring up the topic of preschool. The staff is just that good. We moved to Poway a few years ago and both of our kids went to Chai from ages 3 to 5. Chai was highly recommended to us and exceed expectations. The staff is warm and friendly. Our kids thrived, coming out of their shells in a new environment and embraced the Jewish values that were taught. School is welcoming to Jewish, non-Jewish and mixed faith families. Excellent hours for school year and summer program allowing for pickups as late as 5:30pm. Our kids will greatly miss the friendships the made with their teachers and other students. Going back to work and leaving your four month old baby with anyone is hard, but the exceptional teachers at Chai made the transition as comfortable and as smooth as possible. After touring a number of schools, none could compete with the first impression I got from infant room teacher Shanna. From a two minute conversation, I could instantly tell she was warm, personable, and kind. That day, the classroom was dim and calm, with white noise humming in the background. I knew my daughter would be in great hands and in a great environment. I was sold then, and after 8+ months of my daughter attending the school, I'm even more so. I'm sure varying levels of chaos ensue throughout the day (especially with my high needs baby in the mix!), but Shanna and toddler room teachers Jasmin and Brittney manage it all gracefully. They are just fantastic. Communicative, thoughtful, endlessly patient, and most importantly, they've really treated (and continue to treat) my daughter like one of their own. Everyone is flexible and willing to adapt to parents' desires as to naps, feeding, etc. And I love receiving photos and videos throughout the day of my baby playing, preparing masterful pieces of art, and getting her naps in. I'm so happy to have found Chai. They truly provide my husband and I with peace of mind that our baby is getting wonderful and loving care. read more

My two children went to Chai Preschool and Infant Center starting in the infant room moving up into the preschool. We were very happy for many years here, the director and teachers were amazing! Recently though, the school has been under new upper management, the director and almost all the teachers quit. I immediately pulled my children out of the center, I was not comfortable sending my children to a school where the teachers felt so under appreciated and under valued that they felt they had to quit. It was so sad to see this school go down hill so quickly, it used to be such a great school with great teachers. read more

Our daughter been attending Chai Altman since 2010. It was not an easy decision finding the perfect school until we walked in to Chai Altman. The teachers are amazing! They are all caring and friendly. The Director keeps parents informed on what their children are doing .Our daughter has learned more than we could of ever imagined in the years she has been at Chai Altman. Our daughter started attending Chai Preschool & Infant Center when she was 14 months old. We were new to RB and after touring multiple facilities in the area, Chai really stood out above the rest. Fast forward almost 3 years and we have never regretted our decision. We love the 3:1 ratio that extends until 2 years old. Over the years we have really seen the preschool transform and grow with the children in mind . On the preschool side, I really appreciate the time and energy the teachers put in to making learning fun and educational. Our 3 year old loves going to school and we are so impressed with the knowledge she comes home with on a daily basis. My family just moved to Poway mid July. Our 2 year old son first attended the summer camp at the Chai Preschool. He loved it there so much, we signed him up for the preschool program. I know we chose the right school for him when I tell him the night before school that the next day is a school day and he jumps up and down clapping yelling "Yay!!!" Our son started in the infant program with Morah Yakima and then to Morah Amanda & Morah Rosanna at MM. We are so blessed to have them. The student and teacher ratio is the best in the area. My older daughter went to Chai Preschool and we loved it so much we decided to send our second daughter. The teachers here are a true step above the rest! Kind, caring, fun... The kind of people you'd want around your kids when you can't be! They have so many perks that other schools don't have, too. My daughter absolutely loved yoga class! They also have dance, cooking, etc. I believe Spanish will be back this year, too! The infant room my younger daughter is in is brand new and awesome. The academic program is rigorous and stimulating, as are the many extra programs, all of which are included in the tuition. This is by far the best preschool in town!! My 3 1/2 year old daughter has been attending since she was 18 months old and I am very pleased with the program. She has attentive, loving teachers who really like working with kids. I like that it is a balanced program offering structure for academics as well as play time for developing socialization. Lucky for us, they now provide an infant program so our newborn will be attending just after the holidays... best part is the ratio is 3:1 for babies... that is unheard of in this area. So our baby will get the extra attention and loving needed at that early age. They have extended hours to accommodate working moms... which I am. Lastly, you don't have to be Jewish to attend this program (many families are not). We are not Jewish and they love us just the same :) read more

No other preschool compares - Chai Altman offers a low teacher-to-student ratio, progressive curriculum, social enrichment programs, and a beautiful (and safe) facility. The staff is equally impressive - the Director and the teachers are educated, compassionate, nurturing, and without a doubt there to see the children of Chai Altman succeed. Although we are not Jewish, we have always felt welcome at Chai Altman and have been treated like family. I cannot say enough good things about this preschool. My experience with Chai Altman Preschool started back in 2006. I enrolled my oldest daughter there when she was 18 months old. One of the most difficult decisions to make as a working mother is where to send one's child. When I found Chai Altman I knew immediately that this was the only place I would send her. The teachers are absolutely wonderful and I always knew my daughter was being cared for,educated and nurtured during the day when I couldn't be there. My youngest has been enrolled since 2009 and she LOVES going everyday. We visited countless daycare/preschools when looking for a center for our son and daughter before I finished maternity leave. I finally felt that maybe I would just not feel comfortable with ANY place, and we settled on one that appeared safe and clean. It soon became evident that we needed to find a new center, and fortunately, we came across Chai Altman. We hadn't visited it previously because it was 15 minutes in the opposite direction of our commute, so would add 30 minutes to our morning routine. But, I'm so glad we found it the second time around. It is worth every extra minute it added to our commute. Chai Altman is very safe and secure, and the teachers truly love the children and invest themselves in the care and academic success of each child. My daughter, who cried every day for the months we were at the first preschool, only cried for the first few days at Chai, and after the first few weeks, she happily said goodbye and went to join her new friends. Our then infant son was very well cared for as well. The problems he'd had at the previous center (constant diaper rash, refusing to eat, etc) never occurred at Chai. As they transitioned from one class to the next, we saw the same caring and nurturing nature in all of the teachers. We had our children at Chai for two years before we recently moved out of state. We all cried on their last day at Chai (the teachers too) because we felt as though we were leaving family. I can honestly say that having to leave this preschool was the only hesitation we had when making our decision to move out of state to be closer to family. read more
