This restaurant has been on my want to go list, so I was excited to try it out! We ordered the Pad Kee Mao (drunken noodles) and the Gang Khew-Wan (Green Curry). The Pad Kee Mao was tasty, the flavor leaned slightly toward to a sweeter, tomato flavor side, but it was still enjoyable. The Green curry came with generous portion and was really flavorful. I especially really liked the eggplants, the texture was great and the seasoning was on spot!

I've been to Chai Thai twice and both times, Chai Thai did not disappoint! On my most recent trip, I had the beef pad see ew. The portion size was quite good, the noodles were flavorful, and the beef texture and flavor was just right. Service was also quite good, our waiter was quick and attentive. Overall, I recommend checking out Chai Thai!

Just got take out here and it was very disappointing! The food was pretty good but there was no peanuts on the pad Thai. I called the restaurant and the response was do you want to come back and get some peanuts? UCSF infusion is across the street and it's not possible to come back. I think they should have adjusted the bill

Is there a parking lot close by?

Yes! We have garage parking at the corner of Ashby Ave. Look for sign to enter into the restaurant through garage parking

Do you have a corkage fee?

Does the coconut thai iced tea have dairy in it?

The Thai Iced Tea I received had a layer of coconut cream on it. I do not believe it had any milk in it when I ordered it. I really liked it.

One of the staff members were so sweet and regularly checked up on everyone, but our main server was incredibly rude. My vegetarian friend wasn't able to eat eggs but the rest of the table could, so we asked kindly if it's possible to just have it put on the side. I understand if they couldn't do it for whatever reason, but we were just met with so much passive aggressiveness for asking. It made the mood very unpleasant. But honestly, I find it strange as most restaurants are pretty understanding of dietary restrictions and can make modifications to cater to their many costumers. I previously had their pad thai for takeout in 2024 and remember being very disappointed. That said, I would give it another try if dined in. RECS: + Pad see ew ($16) was good, one of the better ones I've had + Green curry ($16) was delicious and full of flavor! + Crispy pumpkin ($10) had a light, airy coating of batter and was paired with a tasty sweet and sour sauce

I've dined at both the SF and Oakland locations before. Oakland started off really strong for me…read morebut over time the food felt a little inconsistent, and the SF location personally just did not hit for me. But this Berkeley location? Okayyyy now let's get into it. Parking here is definitely challenging, so give yourself extra time. We came on Mother's Day with reservations at 2 PM, right before they closed for their dinner reset at 3, and we were still seated pretty quickly which I appreciated, especially with how busy it was. We sat outside on the patio and honestly it was such a nice vibe. They do have outdoor heaters if needed, but the weather was perfect that day. We did everything à la carte for a party of 7. Appetizers: Vegan Spring Rolls: 5/5 Super crispy and fresh. The chili peanut sauce was so good we kept going back for more. Crispy Pork Belly: 1/5 Way too overcooked for our liking. It came out super dry and chewy, almost like a thick pork jerky. Definitely not something we would order again. Main dishes: Panang Neua: 5/5 OMG. This was the dish I came for and it absolutely delivered. The meat literally falls off the bone and melts in your mouth. The sauce leans salty, so pairing it with the blue rice balances everything out perfectly. So rich and flavorful. Crab Fried Rice: 5/5 The large chunks of crab really made this dish stand out. It was flavorful, not dry, and not overly mushy either. Solid all around. Hat Yai Fried Chicken: 2/5 Too thin and too dry for us. I would not reorder this dish, but the roti it came with was actually really good dipped into the sauce. Beef Larb: 5/5 Wagyu beef? Say less. This dish was perfectly seasoned and packed with flavor. Straight chef's kiss. Yellow Curry: 4/5 Honestly you really can't go wrong with yellow curry here. Comforting, flavorful, and paired well with everything else we ordered. And of course we ended with the mango sticky rice to share because you simply have to. It was the mango on top to finish the meal. Overall, this Berkeley location easily gave us the best experience out of the three. Great service, beautiful patio seating, and several dishes that were genuinely memorable. We'll definitely be back for that Panang Neua alone.

(Side note: not exactly a walkable preferred distance). They also had a happy hour menu that was still going and we definitely took advantage of the decent pricing. 1. Happy hour wings: these were not that exciting unfortunately. I really wanted to like them but it ended up being the last thing I ate. Sauce was not all that. It was a sweet and sour chili sauce cooked down with basil for flavor. It just wasn't for me. 2. Bowl of Tom Kha: this was my favorite of all things we tried and a perfect portion for one person. However we did share this bowl knowing we over ordered. Chicken was soft, mushroom the perfect texture. The soup was delicious. 3. Happy Hour: chicken satay. Chicken was slightly dry but it didn't ruin it for me. Also easy to eat off the stick. Peanut sauce was not over powering and a good balance of flavor. The pickled veggies that come on the side had the perfect crunch. 4. Moo Dang Dry Noodle: the meat was soft and very flavorful. I would recommend fully mixing everything before digging in. Definitely pair it with the pickled jalapeños they have to add the spice and crunch to it. Personally, didn't like this dish much either. I think it was the noodles for me, it was tasting a bit bland. But once I added the jalapenos, it was much better.

The corn cakes were fried just right so they were golden on the outside but soft on the inside and the slaw and sweet sauce elevated it. I would get both appetizers again. Massaman Gai Curry (5/5) - the curry was so flavorful in this dish and the soft potato complimented it very well. Definitely the winner of the night. Chicken Khao Pad (Fried Rice) (3/5) - rice was a little too dry and the thinly cut chicken again did not pop out in the dish. Overall, very fresh and authentic Thai dishes.
