I've eaten here 4 times. First time is right when they opened. Second and third time was last spring and the fourth time is just recently. I don't know what happened. The first three times I've eaten here, the food was good. This last fourth time, the food tasted funky. My husband and I ordered pad Thai with chicken and pad see ew with pork. I've ordered these dishes before and they were great. This time, not so much. Pad see ew is cooked with soy sauce. I don't know what sauce they used but it didn't taste like any soy sauce or any pad see ew I've had before. My husband ate it simply because he was hungry. Some bites had tons of black pepper and some bites didn't. It tasted weird. My pad Thai was disappointing. The chicken was dry and way over cooked. The dish itself was a mushy floppy mess with sauce. Everything was over cooked. The fried tofu tasted weird too. Maybe it was too old. I won't be coming back which is sad because I live nearby but the most recent food was bad. Maybe they changed the chef or tried to cut corners because of the covid 19 epidemic. I don't know but their food has suffered. read more

This place is relatively new at the corner of San Pablo and Ashby Avenues. Parking really sucks. Besides that it's a really Swanky restaurant. The decorations inside are very nice although there is no bar. They do have happy hour which is like $2 off the bottle beers oh, but there is no menu for happy hour. The prices for the dishes are more expensive than other Thai restaurants but I guess that's to be expected since it's in the new building with overpriced rents. read more

This is my favorite Thai food around! The new(ish) restaurant in Berkeley is lovely, the staff always gracious, and the food is EXCELLENT (tastes just like at their Oakland location). I love the green curry with chicken and pad thai with shrimp. My husband loves their spicier foods. I had ordered Chaing Mai noodles, Kai Pad Fried Rice, Gang Khew Wan curry, and stick rice. I picked these up around 7:30pm. Chaing Mai Noodles was the one I was very disappointed in. I didn't like it at all. When I opened it, I saw that the rice noodle was half way cook. It also comes with a bit of dried noodles but looks like it was microwaved. I took half of the noodles that are cooked in a bowl and pour half of the coconut curry soup in there. I ended up eating 3 bites with the noodles and a couple more bites with the soup and rice ( just to eat all the chicken that comes with it). That was the WORST egg noodles I've ever had. For me, this is the best Thai food in the Bay Area. This family cooks with skill, and more importantly with soul. You feel the love in this delicious, delicious food. I love this place so I'm bummed to say that my boyfriend and I got really sick eating from here this week. We picked up a green curry, eggplant entree and pad thai yesterday. We both got stomach aches shortly after eating and had upset stomachs the morning after. He tried eating leftovers again day 2 and again felt sick afterwards, so it was definitely the food from here. Pre Covid Review: I have been to the East Oakland location and loved the place. Great authentic dishes and flavors. However for some reason, the Berkeley location seems to skimp on authenticity, spice, and flavor. I gave this place two chances and was not thrilled with either visit. I've tried lots of thai places during COVID. This place is the best! They do popular basics like chicken satay really well (the only one that isn't overcooked and dry! best peanut sauce!) and their other dishes are just so much more flavorful and authentic than the equivalent dishes at other places. the papaya salads and the pork leg stew are real stand-outs. read more

Egg roll is mediocre, nothing special, I have ordered food from chai Thai noodles - Oakland before, I would say I prefer the egg roll from Oakland one much more. Pad kee mao is very very spicy. I love spicy food, I order medium spicy today, and it's too hot for me to finish the middle. My partner has been wanting to come here for a while I decided to finally give it a try. She lives within walking distance so we just moseyed on over. Showed up 20 min before they opens and 19 min later we were back and the door was already opened. On a Saturday evening the place kinda filled up quickly so I would suggest making a reservation via YELP. The experience as a whole was worth every penny. The food was hot and fresh not a single complaint about anything. Except the back up toilet paper being on the floor in the restroom like not on a rack of any kind just placed on the floor. But who cares right? (Me) well anyway the place is nicely lit, the servers were on top of their stuff bussing dishes right away. Helping one another and refilling our drinks right away. Told my coworkers about it I really hope they come here this Thai food was better than most of the Thai food I've had within the past few years. The BBQ pork was just cooked and not seared like the menu photo - a bit bland. Other dish was tasty. Got home and discovered I was overcharged for one of the dishes. Wow! Just picked up a late lunch for our staff and everything was on point! Seriously delicious Panang crispy duck over spicy curry was fantastic. Fried Chicken Larb and Pad Thai were some of the better versions I've had and the fried rice was the perfect accompaniment. I guess they've only been open since October so stop by and support! Based on its location you wouldn't think it would be that great of a place but just walking in you can smell the flavors and your mouth starts to water.
