My favorite vacation get away. Beautiful country, beautiful lodging, friendly and helpful staff, And the on-site facilities can't be beat. We own a five-star timeshare, one in Mexico and another in Lake Tahoe but we use this place more because this gorgeous place does not feel like a tourist resort. Very nice and relaxing. A little disappointing that so many of the amenities were unavailable due to COVID. Can't be helped much considering a pandemic though. Surprisingly there were a ton of children running about so not quite as romantic as planned. The on-site brewery and staff were amazing! I enjoyed their texting system (request items, WiFi help, etc.) however one day it took hours for a response. One of the front desk staff gave us an amazing recommendation to travel the Feather River Scenic Highway on our way out of town. Very picturesque! read more

NOT GOOD FOR SMALL KIDS! I'm sure this is a fantastic getaway for a couple, but as a family with 3 kids under 4, it was such hard work and downright dangerous. We were part of an exclusive wedding so the entire resort was wedding guests and wedding party. All of the rooms had a loft type bedroom so that was a no go as I'd rather not have my kids fall off the loft (it's wide open) so the only choice we had was a "Rustic 2 bedroom cabin". Rustic basically means run down. We had: -Stairs wide open on the side so they could fall right out.(we brought baby gates and kept the 1 year olds downstairs) -Missing pieces of the blinds so I couldn't close them (hello early morning sun!=awake kids) -back glass door didn't lock and the curtain was missing (my 1 year olds opened it over and over until we barricaded it with a chair) -As there was no curtain (just a rod) and the volleyball court was right behind us, every volleyball game was basically feet away from our kitchen. Forget naps or privacy. -AC boxes downstairs and in 1 bedroom but not the other, so it got crazy hot. -patio was super rustic with broken boards and nails sticking up. -almost every lamp was broken and lightbulbs were out THE "PLAYGROUND" Yay there is a playground! Well, kind of. It's on a little hill and completely run down with no fence or gate. One of the other kids ripped half her toenail off on a loose nail. 2 high swings and a little house and slide. All completely falling apart. The brewery says "family friendly" but that basically means that kids are allowed. All barstools and no boosters or high chairs. We brought our own boosters but couldn't attach them anywhere. The staff handle everything that has to do with the wedding which includes not telling the bride the schedule as they "don't want her to worry about anything on her day" that's great except that I was a bridesmaid and had no clue what the heck was going on. At the event-the staff (Mattie mostly) was rude to anyone in the way. She yelled at our babysitter and when guests asked if there was another heat lamp, she replied that the bride and groom only paid for 4 so she can't bring any more out. The TV says its setup for roku and Netflix but it isn't. The staff said that they are working getting their internet fast enough to handle it. I could keep going but basically don't go as a family. 2 parts to this review- first the brewery, then the restaurant, so bare with me. Stopped in for lunch at the new brewery based on a local's recommendation. It. Was. Awesome. The brewery was a cool place to hang out, with a pool table, shuffleboard, and chess set near a glass fire, leather couch, and bar seating. The beer selection wasn't super extensive, but it has enough of a variety to satisfy anyone in your party. True to a real tap room, this isn't the place to order a pitcher of soda. There are steel pots with beer brewing in the back, so you know your beer is at its peak of freshness and flavor. The food was also great- bar fare including wings, pretzels, cactus chili and pulled pork sandwich. We sat outside on the patio and enjoyed several tasty appetizers and cold beers in the warm sunshine amid the cozy property grounds. We had dinner several weeks ago at the dining room, which is small but cozy and quaint. The food was so good! I had the snapper, my boyfriend had a steak, and our guest had the risotto. Every bite just got better. The food was rich with unique flavor profiles. It felt like we were dining in San Francisco. We shared a brownie sundae with salted whipped cream for dessert, which was orgasmic. We left feeling so full and satisfied. I haven't ever stayed at the hotel, but I can't imagine I would be disappointed if I did. We can't wait to come to both the tap room and the restaurant again! read more

This place was super cozy! The lady at the front desk was very informative and nice. Me and my two girls were stranded up north and Chalet View Lodge totally came through for us. They have a pool table, a tap room/bar and an awesome small like to the feather river. If you're like me and my girls, that small hike can turn adventurous and long ahaha. I couldn't recommend this place more! Each room makes you feel like you are in your own little chalet. Cozy and quaint, this place is awesome! The service was exceptional. Linda at the front desk was very friendly and gave exceptional customer service. The hotel supervisor, Howard was very kind to give us a tour of the grounds and went above and beyond to make sure our stay was a great one. They have a great beer pub on the property with a pool table and food. The staff there were also very friendly. The beds are comfortable and the rooms are super clean and cozy. The views are breathtaking. I would highly recommend staying here if you are just passing through or for a relaxing getaway. We came in the winter which was awesome, but we heard the summers are even more amazing. We will definitely be back! read more

This place is AMAZING!!! You have to check it out if you are ever in the area. Couldnt have a cooler feel and the staff always goes above and beyond. I met a large group of my family there for long weekend get away. We had a blast! Rooms were very comfortable and the grounds are simply stunning. Also has a private stock Pond on the property. I snuck away to do some fishing and caught the biggest Rainbow trout in all my years fishing. We are planning another trip for summer time. Couldnt be happier with our stay read more

We went here to scout out a wedding place and were so disappointed. It seemed like they were very short handed. The girl at the bar told us we could sit wherever to get a beer or cocktail, but then never came over. She then said if we wanted a drink we could come to the bar....there was literally no one there and we had no idea that that was what we were supposed to do. But while we were there the girl was supposed to also be a barista for the Starbucks. We had high hopes for the brewery and the girl told us that the beer wasn't very good so we opted for a bottled beer. It's very upsetting that this place fell short of what we saw on their website. We stayed in a Terrace suite and it was lovely , very well equipped with everything we could need, breakfast was good and the service and staff were both especially good. My one complaint would be the shower , it is very small like one person small and the shower head looks really cool( picture 1 foot square rain type shower head ) but not enough pressure to rinse my hair, but it looks cool, nice linens plenty of blankets and pillows plus nice robes. 3.5 stars... This is a nice lodge in the middle of nowhere ( and I mean that) It is about 4+ hours away from San Francisco so if you wanted to get away from EVERYTHING, come here. It is quiet with great hiking trails nearby. The room we had desperately needed better lighting as it was pretty dark. For example, there was no light in the closet, which wouldn't be such a big deal if the rest of the room pretty much stayed at mood lighting (which is dim lighting) Maid service was decent although you literally had to wait all day for service. Not a bad thing except if you needed extra towels and there is no one to assist you. However the staff are friendly, the grounds are clean, and it really is a beautiful place. Check it out if you happen to be in the area. Oh one thing to note, they do not brew coffee after 10am. At least not on a Monday they don't. read more

During the week the Starbucks inside closes at 6pm so I called to see if they could make the drinks before they closed as I wouldn't be there until about 10 minutes after 6. I spoke with Linda on the phone and she kept the Starbucks open for me until I could get there. She's always friendly and on this day was very accommodating. They have friendly staff all around. As a hotel and a wedding venue, Chalet View Lodge was absolutely out of this world. Carrie was a pleasure to work with in planning our wedding. The whole team was accommodating and open minded to how we wanted our event to go. They were willing to do whatever it took to make sure that we had the wedding of our dreams, and it truly was. One of the reasons we chose Chalet View Lodge is the flexibility that it offers. We were able to have a 300+ person wedding, bring in outside vendors, food and alcohol for a small corkage fee and create a magical festival of love that our friends and family could not get over. EVERYONE told us it was the "best wedding ever" and that was in large part due to the Chalet View Lodge team, as well as the beautiful surroundings. Our guests enjoyed staying at the lodge as well! It is comfortable and quaint but surrounded by many activities including hiking, restaurants, golf and swimming. The brewery onsite was a favorite gathering spot as well as source of snacks and drinks throughout the weekend. There were people of all ages at our wedding that were easily accommodated. We highly recommend that anyone getting married do it at Chalet View Lodge. We had a spectacular experience! read more

My husband and I booked this room over Labor Day weekend for 1 night. Lots of good reviews. First the good... Vivian at the front desk, the "everything" girl was worth every penny they are paying her! They have her at front desk but she works the bar, gets all equipment for the various things to do on the grounds and helps out at the restaurant all she can. She was pleasant and kind and VERY accommodating. The room was quite nice and comfortable and the grounds were fun and lots of things to do. If our experience ended there it would have been 5 stars. We were soooo looking forward to dinner and made reservations for 7:30pm and we sat outside. We did not catch our waitress's name...we think it was Melissa. Vivian sat us at our table and our waitress never came to greet us or even talk with us for at least 1/2 an hour. We gave her our order and asked for water.....15 more min went by and we asked for water again...and perhaps bread? She said sure...and walked away...15 more min a kind blond lady came by and asked us if we were ok...she noticed we have been sitting at empty table for a very long time. We told her we had been there for an hour..we would like some water and perhaps some bread and perhaps our salad??? She said she would give us water...she did and then made our salad personally for us. I asked her if she could pleas be our waitress. The party of 4 next to us said they had been there 1/2 hour ahead of us and have been watching in amazement the incredibly terrible service and they had not gotten their food either at that time. They did get their salad, however. We laughed about it. We waited another at least 20+ more min to get my husband's food...but not mine. It was at that time Melissa our waitress came by and asked if everything was ok and food was tasty....What the heck? Then 10 min later my food came. The food was incredible. I got the chicken and it was very tasty. The gentlemen at the other table said their food was very good as well. So that was the redeeming factor of the entire evening. It was very cold outside since now it was approx 9pm. The table next to ours asked Melissa to turn on the outside warmer. Her response was that she needed a few min to "reposition" the thing...then ran off never to attempt or be seen again. Enter "Vivian" She tried to move it and start it but it would not..So she rearrange the furniture and went outside and came back with a wheel barrow full of wood and started the fireplace. There was a lovely couple sitting by the fireplace we all struck up a conversation. They said they love the food and had been there a couple of times but the service was ALWAYS like this and known for the poor service. Hmmmm. They had already drunk a bottle of wine and asked Melissa for another. Which she charmingly said "Absolutely" and went away....never to be seen again. We caught up with her approx 20 or so min later when we went to the front desk to get a treat and try to pay for it. I saw Melissa with the bottle of wine, carrying it around...then she started talking with Vivian...As we waited and waited just to try to charge the treat to our room, the young man came into the front desk area and asked Melissa if he could please have the bottle of wine...then he left...she proceeded to attempt to open the bottle but could not...Vivian had to open it for her. As we walked out and back to our room, we stopped by to let the young man know that his bottle of wine was coming...she was having a hard time opening it and we laughed. We estimated that it prob took about 20 min or so for her to go get the bottle and open it...but could have been longer had he not come in and reminded her... In my opinion Melissa would NOT be working for my restaurant and I would be raising Vivian's salary. But it's a shame this kind of experience has to happen here with the great food. Very pretty property. The room was right alongside the driveway entrance and the car noise from the driveway and the highway (Hwy 70) was very loud. The room was clean but a bit tight and very poorly lit. The TVs could also use a bit of an upgrade. The restauraunt was only serving 1/2 of its menu items. The pizza that I did have was very good (wood fired). I enjoyed the pond and pool. The staff was pleasant but a bit disorganized. read more

We have stayed here twice. The rooms are pretty nice. Bed is comfortable, the pillows could be better. The slate floors can seem a bit grimy when you walk on them. The lofts are a nice feature to the room. The hiking paths behind the hotel are a nice feature--one leads to the river. Some drawbacks: the included breakfast is subpar. Consists of hard-boiled eggs, some bland cereals and a bagel or two. The service at the front desk can be slow at times. This is due to the receptionist doubling as the Starbucks barista. The Starbucks is, literally, right next to the front desk. Also, the off-season rates for the hotel seem high. read more

I will be staying here in two weeks with my boyfriend for his birthday surprise and I hope that the stay will redeem what I have experienced so far. I really want to love this place as much as I have loved the other places I have stayed in this area, which is why I am still going to try it out. I bought a deal on Amazon Local for their standard room which read "149 sunday through thursday check in" for 2 nights. This worked for my purposes of checking in on a thursday, which is the only reason I chose to go with this hotel. The next level of deal was for the same room but for a "friday-saturday check in" at 169.00. I called to book and was informed the "wording was wrong" on the deal and I had to pay the fri-sat checkin rate even though I'm checking in on thurs. This means that I'm paying the weekend check in rate even though one night is a weekday and is the night I am checking in. Doesn't seem fair that I have to pay for their mistake, which makes the "deal" I thought I was buying not such a great deal after all. :( Although I am disappointed to start, I hope that our experience when we arrive at the chalet is the opposite of this. I will write an updated, hopefully much better, review, so stay tuned. Fingers crossed that they make up for their shortcomings thus far! They made up for their mistakes during my stay 10 fold! The Lodge is great. We have stayed there many times and will continue to go back. The staff is wonderful and I could not ask for anything more. The breakfast is fine, there are hard boiled eggs, french toast, bagels, cereal, yogurt and some other little stuffs. The breakfast fills up my family of four and we have no gripes. I have been in several different rooms and cabins and they are all equally nice. I have stayed in the rustic cabin and it is just that, a rustic cabin. The rooms and suites are nice and have good linens and yes pillows everywhere. This is a great weekend getaway and will continue to visit for years to come. We booked 2 rooms for 2 nights in to attend a wedding. The setting is gorgeous and the wedding pics will be wonderful - however... We booked 2 of the Resort guest rooms. Every floor plan shown on their website includes a loft. One of our rooms had a loft and the other one did not, yet we were charged the same rate for both. The bathroom was a good size, but there was barely any counter space to put our toiletries. Each room was supposed to have a hair dryer-my room did not. The 'closet' is actually a wardrobe which was large and wonderful but, due to its placement next to the night stand, the doors wouldn't open completely and the drawers were not accessible. The tile floors are super cold in the winter. The refrigerator was nice to have, but I realized too late that it was not turned on and some of our food had gone bad the next day. We did have a microwave, which was a nice surprise. In spite of all this, we wouldn't trade that weekend for the world. After all, the end result was a beautiful wedding day for 2 beautiful people. read more

We stayed here for a family weekend and everything from the room and staff to the grounds were excellent. We dined in the restaurant several times and the food was always outstanding and the portions were more than enough! Although the weather was chilly during our visit, that didn't stop us from enjoying the zip line, hot tub, fishing hole and onsite brewery!! There was always something to do even if you just wanted to cozy up to one of the many fireplaces. I would highly recommend the lodge. read more

This is just related to the service at the attached restaurant and not the hotel accommodations. We tried this place out for dinner, when we were in the area for business and were all extremely disappointed. The food was average and over priced and the service was absolutely horrible. We waited for over an hour for the food to be delivered and then after waiting for over 30-minutes and repeatedly asking for the check, finally had to just go stand at the bar and demand to pay the bill so that we could leave. The strange thing, is that the place seemed well staffed and it was not that crowded. I think that our server just chose to ignore our party. read more

My mom and I stayed here for a couple nights due to a Living Social coupon which also included a complimentary bottle of wine and $50 to use at the spa. We stayed two nights, booked our massages (thank you Amanda and Monica, they were amazing!) and saw what the area had to offer. Even if we had not left the hotel our entire stay, we would have had plenty to do. There was a large pool, two jacuzzis, a giant golf course, horse shoe pit, volleyball net, basketball court, bocci ball area and many hiking trails to explore. The location was beautiful and so was lodge; we had a wonderful time and will definitely come back again. read more

We love chalet view! We recently hosted our family reunion here. We rented 4 cabins and 2 lodge rooms. The staff was helpful, and Carrie was delightful. We had tons of fun playing bocce ball, volleyball & golf. The boys even rode their bikes on the track! There's tons of activities, plus Great Lakes nearby for day trips! We'll be back!! read more

This is a great place - we had planned to stay for one night, and wound up staying for three nights (in summer). Our room (which faced the pool and the grounds --do try to avoid to roadside rooms....) was clean and ready for an early check in at the last minute. The beds were very good (important for those of us with bad backs) though the pillows were quite mushy. Though the fridge is in an awkward location,and there is no bureau or dresser, we made ourselves right at home. The AC/fan is quiet (though i was wishing for a ceiling fan to move things around a bit more), and has a remote control (a nice touch). Nice linens, plenty of towels, and though the property is dog-friendly, our room with its nice, clean slate floor, was devoid of any canine evidence. A relief for those of us with allergies. The staff are AMAZING - friendly, accommodating, hard-working. The small crew is often performing numerous tasks: front desk, barista at the Starbucks outlet, server at the restaurant, etc. And yet they get it all done, with smiles. The free breakfast is good: hard-boiled eggs, french toast, waffles, muffins, cereal, juice, beverages, etc. A nice range of options a bit above and beyond the usual fare. The lodge feels like a larger resort property: the pool and jacuzzi are spacious and clean, with plenty of lounge chairs and tables for poolside fun. I am not a golfer, but there is a small gold course (they will loan you clubs for free), volleyball net, kids play structure, pond, etc. The patio is great for hanging out, and is also part of the very nice Grille restaurant (wood pizzas, burgers, salads, etc). I also had a very good massage (thanks, Rosie) that I easily scheduled upon arrival. The gym was a bit of a disapointment for me: though the extra usage fee is not high ($7), the cadio equipment was jammed together in a small room and the wieght-training equipment was in another space that seems like a very serious local gym. I had been hoping for a space in which I could stretch and do some mat work, but that was not in the offing. A relaxing, resort feel with a great staff in a beautiful area at a great price.
