I would not be giving constructive criticism in areas that a business could approve in. I want businesses too succeed not fail. Already said was the customer interaction was good. Very nice employees. The decor is inviting and follows the theme of island life. The problem was the food that day. Not sure if the restaurant was a off that day or what. After my meal. I was left disappointed. Ordering an assortment of items- BBQ beef plate, masubi and empanadas. I purchased a few items to try. First, the BBQ beef was just okay. Didn't taste fresh and tasted over marinated. The red rice was even off. Secondly, the empanadas were not even room temperature. Instead they were cold. Oh My!! DELICIOUS!!! I go to the water store there and was hungry so I thought I would try this Hawaiian BBQ place. What a great surprise! The girl at the register was very helpful, sweet, and professional. I got the short ribs, red rice, white rice, and macaroni salad. Every single item was delicious. There aren't much places that offer chamoro food, but this place hits the spot. Easy to find and plenty of parking. Could get super full for cheap. I ordered the chicken kulaguen, and Loco moco. The chicken kulaguen had a good mixture to it. Perfect amount of everything. Some places have there Kulaguen way to sour. If I was on a diet I could eat this daily. The Loco moco was ok. It was a kids size so not much to complain. I would pay more if it was hand made and bigger. Red rice was good but the macaroni salad was meh. Overall good place, I would go back and get there kalbi ribs or more of that kulaguen. They do offer just kulaguen itself. Very inexpensive place to grab lunch. First of all my favorite place for food from my island! Service is ALWAYS great but on my last visit I decided to place an online order and that's where it started to go wrong. You figure with an email confirmation that the order would be ready by the time it says give or take several minutes. Nope and not only was it NOT ready but it wasn't even started. Waited another 20 minutes and it was good to go or at least I thought it was. It's my fault for not checking to see if the order was correct but the assumption was an online order is pretty clear as it tells you exactly what you want. Upon arriving home I discovered the order was wrong. Still delicious but still WRONG. Disappointed and perhaps I'll consider other options next time I'm craving some Guahan goodness. read more

We ordered the following: -Lumpia 5pcs ($3.25): Beef lumpia. It wasn't bad, but wasn't the best. I like my lumpia really crispy. It was slightly undercooked to my taste and I felt the wrapper was a bit too thick for the beef contents. -Fiesta Combo Plate ($9.95): You're able to choose 2 BBQ Meats and a side. We chose the beef short ribs and the pork ribs. IMO, I felt the BBQ was dry and overcooked. -Loco Moco ($7): I enjoyed this entree. I chose it over white rice and sunny side up eggs. The runny yolk over the rice, beef patty and gravy was tasty. I was only able to finish half of the dish and ate the rest as leftovers, which was still delicious. Very disappointed! The young woman on the phone had zero customer service skills, it sounded like she was miserable. I was told 20 minutes for a pick-up order... it ended up being 47 minutes!!! The staff had no urgency. I asked the employee why other customers (who ordered in-store) received their orders before me. Her excuse was that my order "did not print". Unsatisfied, I questioned how that did not make sense and asked what's the point of calling ahead. Her response was "Yeah, I don't know. Your order didn't print." Rather than trying to find a solution or make it right for the customer, she ended the conversation with "It'll be a few more minutes." Horrible service!! Chamorro grill is the worst!!! #1 JJ's Island Grindz in Bonita, #2 Guahan Grill in Oceanside, #3 Smackin Guamanian Grill in Mira Mesa and last and definitely least is Chamorro Grill! This is probably one of our favorite places to go for chamorro food. There may be one caveat though: be prepared to wait a long while for your food. They must make everything fresh to order because honestly, I've waited up to 20 minutes or so at some point. Or maybe I'm just hangry at that point that it feels like it's FOREVERRR. But your patience is worthwhile, trust me. My go-to is always the chicken kelaguen plate with red rice. Their red rice is THE BOMB. The chicken kelaguen is perfect and I LOVEEE that they have spicy finadine. The hubs will usually do the BBQ combo plates, and the chicken and beef ribs are PERFECTLY cooked and marinated. And then we'll top it off with a red rice spam musubi - because duh, red rice! Their portions are big and very filling. Oh man I have been waiting years to go come to Chamorro Grill! Years! I moved from home to OC and found out there was a restaurant servicing food that takes me back to family backyard parties. The establishment is clean and spacious. The food was right on point and I was especially impressed with the empanadas. I finally got to bring my boyfriend to show him family style food but sadly without the hospitality of family. I am not saying I deserve special treatment because my mother is from Guam but I am saying we should represent the hospitality of Guam. You know, the aunties that are constantly saying, "did you eat nenny?? GO EAT nenny!!" and you already had 3 plates! The cashier seemed cold and like she'd rather be somewhere else. The food was brought to our table just as so. The wait was pretty lengthy. The process to make the food I can understand and we will wait as we don't mind waiting for things to made freshly. However we watched from the back of the room as the food just sat there in the window for a while for no reason and then made it to our table in a sad fashion.. On the plus side, the food is excellent! The only thing I would do differently as a customer is order to go. My mother passed away when I was just 9 but she instilled so much of our Chamorro culture in us and I am proud to claim it. Next time I come in, I would like to be proud to bring to life the love of the Chamorro people through the best way we know how. Sharing more than a meal but feeling like family. read more

I've been eyeing this place for quite some time, but sadly it fell short of expectations. I was looking for something more unique on the menu, so I went with the kadun pika or braised chicken in spicy coconut sauce. Overall, the dark meat chicken was very moist, but the sauce (more like Thai curry consistency) fell flat on flavor. It just tasted spicy as it burned down my throat. The rice and the mac salad was the best part of the meal. Although the rice was soft and light, it was packed with a lot of flavor. The mac salad was probably one of the best mac salads that I've had in San Diego. If I'm ever in the area again, I might be back. read more

We had the Spam Musubi (for the kids), Fiesta Combo with short ribs/chicken, mac salad and white rice for hubby, and I had the chicken kelaguen with red rice and pancit. I loved the chicken kelaguen...the hint of tartness reminded me of this Thai dish called larb but kelaguen is much milder and not as spicy...very good. The grilled chicken and short ribs were very good...not dry or slathered with too much sauce like other places. Red rice was moist and their version of pancit was good...mostly all noodles and not much vegetables. The only thing I didn't care for was the mac salad...interesting version of Hawaiian mac salad (it had sweet relish in it and was very dry, not very much mayo). Overall, I liked the food. It was my first time having Chamorro food and I was pretty excited to try it. My friend, Tiff, kept talking about this lemony spicy chicken dish called kelaguen. I wanted to see the menu because I didn't want to limit my palate. What caught my tastebud's eye was the braised chicken in spicy coconut milk. Mmmm, that sounded wonderful with red rice, which was highly recommended by Tiff. So I made a deal with my other friend Mel that we would share our dishes so we could have a buffet going on. The braised chicken was delicious but it was nothing new to me. It is very similar to chicken adobo, a Filipino dish, except in coconut milk. I wasn't all over the floor with it because it didn't taste exotic or like I said, new. So I was somewhat dissatisfied with my entree. The second I tried the kelaguen, I regretted ordering what I had for my entree. Ugh, I should have just listened to Tiff. That kelaguen was lemony scrumptiousioso! It was right up my alley with the lemon, the spicy pepper and just damn hella good. I was too shy to be all pigging out on my friend's food even though we were gonna share. But if you know me, I'll tear that *ish up if it's hella good and that was damn good. I had seen Chamorro Grill on social media a few months ago and finally stopped in to grab dinner for myself and the family, and it did not disappoint one bit! The serving suggestions are ginormous and easily two meals when you order a Combo plate. My dad ordered the Kalua Pork Plate with white rice and it was absolutely delicious! The pork had a ton of flavor and you could tell that it was really fresh. My dad isn't a big of a fan of macaroni salad (he doesn't really like the sweetness of it) and didn't like this macaroni salad due to the sweetness but I personally really liked it! I ordered the two-meat combo plate with chicken kelaguen and BBQ short ribs, and so have to say it was the best short ribs that I've ever had! They were so smoky and had such a good teriyaki flavor that I could've gotten it as the only meat and been more than happy. I ordered the red rice (my first time having it) and I really liked it! It had a lot more flavor than white rice and was way more moist. Overall, I was super impressed with this place and will definitely come again! I like the chicken kelaguin and red rice here. I like that I can get chicken kelaguin musubi for when I'm on the go. Which is usually my go to when I'm on my way to class next door. I really wanted to dig this place but sadly, this will likely be my last time here. The servers were very friendly, the decor was cute, and the food tasted alright but there wasnt enough meat! They didn't have one of the items I ordered (kalua pork) so I had to get something else (bbq short rib plate). Normally that's not a big deal for me - I can roll with most anything but I'm not used to paying $14 for three pieces of beef, mac salad, & some rice. Granted i got both types of rice on his plate (red and white) but honestly we would've been better off with just the white rice. The red rice had zero flavor. Did I really pay extra for that??
