First timer here. Ordered the combo w chicken and pork ribs. Sides of Kim chee and mac salad. Red and white rice included. Mac salad was a little too heavy on the mayo for me. The two types of rice were good. Chicken was okay marinated in soy and grilled. Ribs were way too dry, I am talking like one step short of jerky. Good food and only 10 minutes from the house. The kelaguen chicken was great, nice lemon flavor and paired nicely with the red rice. The pancit was not impressive, but the dessert made up for it. I forget the name but it was a moist cake with a vanilla custard type of substance on top. Awesome, I would go back for that and the chicken next time! The reduction in stars is for the price, the girlfriend and I went and picked up two combo meals and one dessert and it ran me forty bones! Say what?! The meat and chicken is always on point with flavor and juiciness. Just tried the chicken and beef rib combo with kimchee side: really good beef ribs. Yes, they are definitely a little greasy, but that's what you're asking for when you order Korean style ribs. My family found this place on yelp on our way out of san diego heading back to Tucson. Food was great, service fast, and the staff was very friendly. Loved the flavor of the kelaguen chkn but under my scoop of red rice there was what I at first thought was a burned piece of a shrimp head...turned out it was a piece if trash...a piece of clear plastic with black writing on it. Weird. Hope the manager reads this. read more

Overall good food. Chicken kiliguin, short ribs and red rice combo was on point and fairly priced. My only gripe is, there portions are small. It's not your typical island plate packed with food! You may need to order an additional 2 more servings of red rice to satisfy your hunger. read more

I tried this place in the past and wasn't too crazy about the food. I figured enough time has passed (3 years) and I should try it again. I also received a birthday email stating if I purchased a meal $9 and up I get a "birthday meal" on them valued up to $9. I am not from the area and on a time crunch, I called to place an order to go. I let the woman who answered know I would like to take advantage of the coupon. She said that was ok and ask me "what I want." I had to repeat "BBQ Mix plate with red rice and Kim Chee Daigo" to her 7 times! It's not like we had a bad connection. I just think she was trying to multitask and wasn't successful at it. Then, she said ok and was about to hang up. I asked her if I had to place an order for another item in order to get a free plate. She said in a very sarcastic tone, "Well, I have to verify the email first. So you have to come in." I said, "Of course I'm coming in. I have to pick up the food! I'm telling you I want to add to my order and at the same time fulfill the request of your email to get the free item. Can I do that?" She again snapped in a sarcastic tone, "Ha! Yeah!" At that point I lost it. It brought me back to the day that I was there three years ago and waited for my order. Someone called in an order and after hanging up the phone, the girl behind the counter was cussing and slamming things. I knew that same reaction would happen this time around. I used to come to this place frequently; then the little filipino lady manager started giving me attitude about the food I was ordering. The only reason I even ate here was that it was cheap. I really want to love this place, I gave it another try and the meat was SUPER ULTRA dry. I almost thought the BBQ pork ribs were a type of jerky. The flavor is totally there, but just either over cooked, or reheated too many times. I can say that the potato salad was excellent- it was different then the last time I had it (full of egg and delicious black olives). I will try them again in hopes they read this and serve up some tender moist meat. read more

Before I found Matua's in the South Bay, we always went here to get our Chamorro food fix. Since they also serve Hawaiian and Filipino dishes, it became a family favorite! The barbecue chicken and ribs reminded me of the beach barbecues we had every weekend while we were stationed on Guam ... it is that good! Here, the empanadas with the finadene sauce along with the chicken kelaguen and red rice brings me back to the comfort food of my youth. We also love the loco moco ... you can never go wrong with meat patties over rice, smothered in brown gravy, & topped with a fried egg! We also love the restaurant's ambiance ... nice island chill. The service is good but sometimes slow ... not a bad thing since you know your food is cooked up fresh for you. Overall, a highly recommended place to get good island food!! read more

For $10 you can get enough food for two people. The chicken and beef ribs were delicious. The pancit was OK, the lumpia was very good. I don't understand why they don't have a take out menu. It seems to take a while to prepare the food, so it would be nice to have a menu that you can use to call ahead. Oh well, in the bigger picture, that's not a biggie. I will be back! read more

We drove across town to eat here based on a colleague's recommendation who was born in Guam and suggested Chamorro Grill as the most authentic local-style recipes from Guam. My first comment on the food is: I will try to get back here once a week until the entire menu is sampled and then I will come back every week for my favorites. We ordered Chicken Kelaguen which is similar to pulled chicken marinated in a spicy vinegar sauce and slow cooked to order; my first thought was a chicken version of my favorite pork dish Vinha D'alhos. The chicken kelaguen can be served in a musubi or plate lunch with rice and mac salad. The next dish was the Kadun Pika with cuts of chicken simmered in a spicy coconut sauce; similar to a thai coconut milk curry, but not as heavy and with more citrus. It was delicious and I could put that sauce on anything. Our last main dish was the Pork Adobo which I've had in other places, but this one got the fat to meat ratio just right and the meat was tender, juicy and flaky but not fall off the bone so still had a nice bite. There were several side sauces which I love to play with if I want to add salt with soy, sweet with the chili sweet and sour or heat from the sriracha. We finally ended with the banana lumpia with a side of dipping chocolate which cooled off all the spicy foods and left us wanting to have a second stomach to keep the flavor party in our mouths going. Chamorro Grill was recommended for their BBQ which we didn't try so can't wait to get back to try it all. Foot Note: I gave this place 5 stars because of the outstanding food, it is not a traditional sit down restaurant with waiter, cloth covered tables, china and silverware. This is a family style, order at the counter and eat out of clam shell styrofoam plates with plasticware in giant booths kind of place which I think is brilliant because it puts the focus on the food and that's why we will be back....again and again and again. read more

Looking for Chamorro food like I had on Tinian. Had the combo plate, two kinds of ribs on it, red rice, and they gave a tiny amount of mac salad (sad). Red rice was a bit flat but good for mainland folk. Ribs were tasty but more like Guam style. Empanadas were tasty but not like Tinian. Orders are made on Island Time so don't come unless you have a conversation with a friend or have a magazine. Portions are not like a Fiesta but I think a little stronger on the Mac would make me come across town on a regular basis. The guy doing the ribs in the back is lean as a true islander the others you can judge for yourself, Worth the experience, people I met were friendly. One of my favorite places to eat in the area. The owner and his daughter (Nat) are always super friendly and their customer service is on point. The food is always fresh and very tasty. I am definitely a fan of Chamorro Grill!!! and nothing can compare to the other "islander" restaurants in San Diego. The first time we went to Chamorro Grill, we had to order red rice, kelaguen, and empanada. All three dishes passed our taste test. What worried me was the second impression. So far every "islander" restaurant I have visited, their second impression failed my taste test. If you can make something good the first time, it should taste the same or better the second, third, or fourth time. I was born and raised on Guam and also married to a local man, so we are no strangers to fiestas or your local restaurants on Guam. Anyway, Chamorro Grill's red rice has remained consistent and it is never under or overcooked! The empanada was a winner because it tasted like Chode's!! read more

Don't even waste your time here, they hire and fire ppl left to right, the last time I was there the lady was a cashier and now she is the cook on the back and they have this 12 yr old doing the register which I waited 45 mins for 6 lumpia and 2 spam musubi. I am from Guam born and raised for 43 yrs, it takes me 10 mins top to prepare that. This venue is really NOT a Chamorro place it's more Filipino, the owner is Filipino. You want real Guam good check out Islander Grill or Guahan Grill, rather hook up with some Guam ppl in San Diego but make sure they are from the south of Guam, because you get authentic food. read more

Was super excited to try this place out as I grew up eating my past baby sitter's home cooked Guamanian food! I haven't had some in absolute YEARS! I ordered the mix plate with BBQ short ribs, kelaguen, mac salad as my side & 2 scoops of red rice. Their proportions are pretty good compared to price. Now the food... Red rice was alright, but definitely could have used more flavor. Mac salad was pretty salty, a friend of mine couldn't even finish it & another loved the taste.. to each its own :p Kelaguen was pretty good but I didn't eat much of it. My bf loved it though & the BBQ short ribs is what I loved!! They were marinated & cooked so well. Only complaint is the finadene sauce they had was pretty bland :/ All in all I think I'd go again if I were craving Guamanian food though, considering there isn't many options for this certain type of food. read more
