We had an average experience at Chandni Chowk when we came in for lunch recently. Ambience- 5/5 lots of details Pani puri- 4/5 Chole bhature- 2.5/5 - the specific taste of chole is something I tasted for the first time. Wasn't great. Chicken lollipop- 2.5/5- way too oily Service was prompt. Bathroom had an unpleasant odor.

I think this place and their other branch on Lafayette street serves the best chole bature in the bayarea. I am a fan of their Pani puri as well. ***USP: quirky ambiance mimicking "Chandni chowk" which is a street in India's capital New Delhi known for its street food and unique street side shopping experience. Menu is a sampling of items served on the same street. ***Ambiance : relatively small space with an entire wall covered in a wallpaper depicting Delhis chandni chowk. The roof is painted to mimick an open sky dotted with clouds. ***Food: I will keep coming back here for my guilty pleasure chole bature and my all time favorite food- Pani puri. *Chana bature: 5/5: The chole served here is the black variety, this requires the use of tea leaves to get that color. They are lip smacking delicious with a perfect balance of spices and flavors. With their thick variety of bature, it's a match made in heaven. *Pani puri: 5/5: I tried the kaala katta, khatta meetha and mint varieties and loved all three of them. The puri has some mouth feel to it as well. *egg hakka noodles: 4.5/5: We also tried their hakka noodles this time. Surprisingly non greasy with bouncy noodles. I was surprised I liked it as I am a stickler for how my Indo Chinese food needs to taste, lol! *Chana samosa : 4/5 : Their Chana samosa came with the same Chana as the bature dish, they doused it with a lot of sweet sauce though. It was ok for me but my older one loved it. *chicken tikka masala and naan: 3/5 : My younger one got the chicken tikka masala. I would personally never ever order this dish, but, sometimes we bend backwards for the kids. Anyway, nothing unique here, just the run of the mill curry doused in heavy cream, the chicken was very tough as well, it took some effort to break it down into smaller pieces.

The place is unique and fun the inside. The food is standout and wonderful. The menu doesn't have descriptions and their thali pictures suck. Service was attentive. The chat is really nice with great texture and flavors. The hakka noodle are wonderful with nice tastes. The went on to the special chicken which is chicken bbq with a nice yogurt sauce. This place is great, food is distinctive. Worth a visit. Show them these pictures and order these items. It's amazing. Their menu pictures are not great.

Ambience is highlight, very thoughtfully decorated to give old chandni chowk vibes. Food was good overall, lakhpati chaat and matka chai were amazing! Aslan chicken was good but little Salty. Service was good. Parking was easy

Got takeout on a weekday evening. The place was quiet, but the ambiance inside is amazing. Was pretty much a colorful Indian street scene with signs, posters, wires strung across the ceiling, and even fake crows perched up top. The gobi manchuria was very good, but the chole bhature was too greasy for me. Food was also on the pricier side. I'd come back just to sit inside and soak in the ambiance.

Buffet available all seven days, weekend buffet is slightly more expensive but has a larger spread. **AMBIANCE: large floor to ceiling height but the place is small, it felt real cramped during the weekend buffet when it was packed with people. Their service area is also tight. They had to put two dishes in each chaffing dish to optimize. Weekday buffet was not as packed and i infact saw a huge corporate team gathered for lunch. ***FOOD: doesn't feel like a luxurious buffet due to lack of space but they did have a decent spread with 3-4 veggie appetizers, 3-4 non veg appetizers, 4-5 desserts, Pani puri, fresh table side naan (which was done very beautifully), two varieties of biryani, fried rice, indo Chinese items, 3-4 varieties of non veg curries, 3-4 varieties of veg curries, salad, drinks etc. As with any buffet there will be hits and misses, I for one enjoyed the varied options and the unlimited Pani puri though it was on the sweeter side. The weekend buffet was definitely worth the price tag of $23, the weekday buffet on the other day felt expensive at $20 as the number of items were significantly lower.

It's just a little cold in there for some reason. We started with a watermelon spritz and the inji-puli lotus appetizer since we'd never tried anything like that, and it was very yummy and had such a nice crispy but soft texture. It was also a good portion for all four of us. We got the goat curry and the chettinad spice vegetables, and a few parathas to share. We were afraid it wouldn't be enough but the parathas are actually very filling, and also have a really great texture of both crispy and soft, and delicious flavor. The curries were good, could have used a bit more salt but good spice. The stars of the show were the desserts - this deserves its own section because omg I'm still thinking about the desserts!!! We got the gulab jamun brûlée - an amazingly well done take on creme brûlée with a perfect top, easy to crack and beautifully flavored. The filling was amazing and sweet and so so yummy. They also were kind enough to give us a complimentary chocolate cake which was absolutely amazing. I'm generally not too impressed by chocolate but the quality of this cake was phenomenal with perfect sweetness and richness. I need these two again !! Definitely recommend coming here for an occasion.

I ordered Chole Kulcha, Chili Chicken, Tandoori Chicken, Chap, Roomali Roti; Chole Kulcha- I don't have to eat Chole with it. Kulcha itself was very good, crispy and filled with masala. 5 star Chili Chicken- Quality of chicken matters the most. It was very good. 5 star Tandoori Chicken- Quality was great. Juicy, need to eat there only. 5 Star Chap- Need to eat right away. Don't let it wait otherwise it will loose its texture and taste. Taste when it is hot, good mixture of spices and chutneys with it. Onion enhances the flavor of it. 5 Star Roomali Roti- probably the best Roomali roti. Does not matter where they make it. They put butter on it. It does not get chewy or gets dry. 5 Star Sunny and Love they work hard to make it happen. Kudos to them. Noticed, while I was dining, two people came in and expected them to deliver right away and they left. Guys, give them a break, Truck opens at 4:00pm they have to set up the Tandoor it takes time atleast 45 min. To warm up. You can't expect to serve tandoori items right away.

The garlic chutney was the perfect level of spice, and they serve the chutneys on the side instead of assembling it in the vada pav itself. The kutchi dabeli was also delicious, with a tangy chutney and flavorful masala. The spicy peanuts on the side were a nice touch too. I expected them to put the peanuts inside the dabeli though. I am not sure if they put pomegranete seeds inside the dabeli, atleast there were none in mine. The bread pattice was decent but nothing extraordinary. I've definitely had better at other food trucks in the area, so I wouldn't order it again. They also offer pav bhaji, which I didn't try this time. Out of everything I tried, the vada pav was hands down the best dish. I must add that they have plenty of seating for big and small groups so that's always a plus. And the space was very clean and well maintained. The service was quick and the order was ready within 10 minutes.
