Do not order Uber Eats with this restaurant. Even a simple order of idli takes about 90 mins. Uber Eats says it's ready an hour before. Once you go to restaurant to pick up the order, nobody cares how long you wait. I have been requesting them for an hour now and order is still not ready. I will mostly need to head back without getting my order that I paid for, so that I will not miss my meeting at work. This is horrible customer service read more

We ordered two Special Weekend Thalis after looking through the menu, along with their Railway Veg Cutlet and a filter coffee. The thalis arrived after about 15 minutes, but there were no rotis. We reminded the staff, and it took another 15 minutes before any roti arrived. By then, we had already started eating the rice. To make matters worse, they brought only one roti even though we had ordered two thalis. After reminding them twice more, the second roti finally arrived when I was almost finished with my meal. The thali itself was average. Most of the dishes were just okay, but the rasam and the vathal kuzhambu were excellent and easily the highlights of the meal. The Railway Veg Cutlet was very dry. We only ate one piece and asked if they could replace it with something else or remove it from the bill, but that wasn't handled well. The filter coffee, however, was very good--strong, fresh, and flavorful. Overall, the experience wasn't worth the drive to San Jose for South Indian lunch. There are several South Indian restaurants in Sunnyvale that offer better food, better service, and a much better overall dining experience. read more

Food is okay. But there are two unforgivable violations. 1. There are cobwebs all around the outdoor area. A live spider fell in our coffee. 2. The staff came and saw the spider and behaved extremely casually as if it is not a big deal. They offered to bring another coffee but they never did. We waited for 15-20 minutes and then left. Ate there Saturday night and the experience was terrible though some food items were good. Medhu vada and the potato puris were good. Some food items truly sucked as well. Kal dosa was very mid compared to kovai cafe or mylapore. Bombay toast was abysmal - a dry toast without chutneys inside and made with unbuttered crust slice. But the 1 star review is because we had ordered seven items between four of us and three did not show up for nearly an hour! We had finished eating and were waiting and waiting and waiting... The chole with chole puri was very so so, neither punjabi nor south indian. no onion/chili with it either. They need a sister restaurant for the chaat menu or they should eliminate from the menu if things take so much time and taste so poor. read more

Heard good things about this A2B so my coworkers and I decided to check it out on a Thursday around 11:45am. Parked on the street but looks like there is a retail/residential parking garage close by. The restaurant was empty when we arrived. There was a happy hour going on from 11am-12pm so we quickly placed our orders. Ordering is done by scanning a QR code and ordering online. You can either order and pay as a group or individually. I got the chole puri and my coworkers got the mysore masala dosa. The food came out fairly quickly. Chole puri (3/5): Good portion size. The puri tasted a little burnt and the chole could have been more flavorful. They didn't provide lemon/onion on the side like many restaurants do My coworkers said the mysore masala dosa was also a 3/5. They said the potatoes and chutneys/sambar were seasoned well. However, the dosa tasted a bit bitter because it was also slightly burnt My coworkers have tried this A2B and they liked it more previously but I found it to be pretty average. We had heard a lot of great things about this buffet, so our expectations were quite high. Unfortunately, the experience was disappointing. The dosa was not freshly made, and the chutneys lacked freshness and flavor. We also ordered the Rava Dosa, but it was a letdown. It wasn't crispy, lacked the authentic texture and taste that a good Rava Dosa should have, and overall felt poorly prepared. Having visited A2B in the Chicago area, the difference in quality was very noticeable. The food there is consistently fresh and authentic. I hope this location takes inspiration from what those restaurants are doing well and focuses more on freshness, consistency, and authentic South Indian flavors. Loved the delicious food served by them. We visited this place on my toddler's birthday as she enjoys South Indian food. We ordered: Idli, dosa, thali, and rasam. My daughter loved the dosa and idli. I loved the thali as it had a lot of options. And hubby loved the rasam very much. We visited for lunch on a weekday and arrived before the rush hour so we were seated right away. They had baby seat available. Our food arrived on time and additional cutlery was provided on the table. The place is clean and decor is nice. And ample seating was available. We heard they had a breakfast buffet on weekends till 9 to 11 am for 15.99. What best way to try different varieties, so we arrived around 10 am and was not crowded. There was buffet setup, starting with Idli Vada (which was not refilled for quite some time.), pongal, kesari, kitchadi, aloo masala, coconut chutney , tomato chutney and sambar. We were told that dosa and poori can be ordered to the table. There was lot of place to sit as well as they had outdoor space too overall ambiance was good. Idli was soft and not hot and was catching throat. Vada we got it after long time, our batch was good, next one was not that crispy. Consistency is missing. Pongal was very good. In fact it was the savior of the buffet. But it ran out when I want to go for a second serving, and refill did not happen until the end. kitchadi was ok. Kitchadi is same like upma except for the Consistency. Upma will be grainy and seperated like rice whereas kitchadi is like pongal Consistency. Kesari was pineapple flavored no nuts but full of ghee. Aloo masala was decent, it could take more spice. Coconut chutney was good it is another savior along with pongal. Tomato chutney ruined my plate, it was spoiled. This is a big NO! Sambar was ok Dosa was thin and small size when tasted it was sour and made out of old batter. Poori was huge and unappealing take a look at the picture, and it did not sit well with us. You get chai not coffee with buffet and the tea was spoiled or burned or gone bad. One star for ambiance One star for pongal and coconut chutney But risk of eating spoiled/bad food is something not acceptable. A2B is one of the biggest chain in South and loved by so many people for it Consistency and dependable taste and quality, my go to restaurant when I travel in south, did not expect this. OK, so this place is the most disappointing Indian tea. It it does not actually taste like tea at all. I requested also for coffee and that was also way too better, not like Indian filter coffee. A2B is a hit or miss for me every time I have gone here. The quality and taste has changed and slowly declined over the years - I think this has been a similar situation for most indian restaurants that faced the hit during pandemic/ recession times; they probably face change of staff/ chef. But for a global chain restaurant, I would expect a strict and consistent standard in terms of service, taste and quality when you walk into any chain any where in the world. Good experience - Initially their chaat items and south indian dishes were amazing and finger licking. The ingredients also seemed to be great and did not give a heavy feeling after you eat. Bad experience - Recently, their taste has changed a lot each time I have been here and ordered the same dishes. One time I ordered jain sambar and the sambar's consistency was so THICK that I would not even call it a gravy let alone sambar. Then their chaat items - Raj Kachori which used to be amazing, the recipe changed and now they put a Vada inside the kachori !!?? (umm... what! LOL). I think they need to take their original recipes seriously and follow it to keep the standards consistent. People go to such restaurants looking for comfort and familiar taste but if they are not getting that, then its disappointing. read more

Tea which is already made took 15 mins to arrive. It arrived cold and was spilled all around the cup. Their latest Weekend addition Bombay Sandwich took 20 mins for prep, arrived with no potato stuffing, barely anything inside. The sandwich wasn't even cut in half. If you want to order to go at the table, hard luck, they expect you to mention in the comments in the same app above (for each item you order!) and will not honor if you tell them directly. At the end of my meal their employee scoffed at me for asking a Togo box for leftovers and said this "I have other work to do". This is when I lost it and gave them my honest feedback! Btw, you get this top notch service for a mandatory 10% service charge - EVEN for one person! Their main scam - swindle 10% from patrons upfront and provide them f**k all service by hiring as cheap and less labor as possible! The south indian food here is really good! I like that this place has a better seating options than a couple other south indian restaurants I've been to. The dosas are nice and crispy, and the service is pretty quick! Also, it's quicker as your can place your order right away from your table through the QR code. It was our third time at this restaurant today. We liked the service and the food the first two times, however today it felt really bland. We had Ghee Roast Dosa which lacked salt and ghee. Sambar and Chutneys were good so they compensated for the taste. Naan Pizza was okay. It could use more toppings, it looked fuller in the menu photo but in reality it wasn't. Gobi Fried Rice was good but they served it almost cold. Madras Coffee was the best thing we had today at A2b. Overall it didn't impress. They kept me waiting as they brewed a new batch. The masala dosa was good but the chutneys were kept inside the take out container with the hot dosa so the chutneys became hot. Me, my family and several of my team members are regular customers for a while. Today we had food ordered for dine-in as well as took takeout. Almost every single dish was super spicy (red, green chilies) and even those who generally are on higher spectrum of heat level, complained. Not sure, if other customers have felt the same, but this was a big bummer and a poor experience. We really loved this place but I am certainly not going back. Ambiance: Huge place. Lots of seating. It's funny that they have a huge collection of wine displayed but don't serve alcohol. Food: Excellent quality and quantity. Wow! Everything's on QR code -- the check-in to get on the waiting list, the menu, and even placing the order. After being seated, I was trying to get a server's attention for some water and flatware. Turns out *everything* is done online. including asking for utensils, water, etc. Welcome to Silicon Valley! ;-) We started off with the Gobi Manchurian, a quintessential Indian-Chinese vegetarian appetizer. The flavour profile was decent, however the battered fried cauliflower was not as crispy-crunchy as expected - it was only borderline crispy. Just barely. The crispiness is half the value of this dish so it didn't quite meet the mark. I had decided on the special thali with 16 sampler items. It was quite the show, seeing as it was laid out on a humongous platter. But more than anything, I was here for the rice-sambhar-rassam-papad quad-squad! I promptly asked for a second papad (pappadam) as everyone knows a single papad isn't gonna cut it. The quad didn't disappoint and the 12 other items were not too bad either. All in all, it was a nice experience and I wouldn't mind come back, though I wouldn't particularly try to push someone to come dine here. read more

We hired A2B to cater for my son's upanayanam (about 140 people). Among the various restaurants we considered catering from, A2B was the ONLY one who offered for us to come in a for a tasting. That gave us a lot of confidence that the food was going to be very good because they made us a special tasting menu and we could try everything well in advance and make some modifications, as needed. From the start, Venkat was a consummate professional. He is very receptive to feedback, is responsive, and very humble. He came to the venue a few weeks before the event to make sure that he understood the flow of how things would work. He was also willing to work with us on the presentation that we wanted -- we wanted a traditional thali presentation with katoris, which took a lot of preplanning but ultimately worked out very well. All the food was served on bananas leaves which he provided, which was a great touch. The lunch was great and everyone complimented the food. We had mostly South Indian with a few North Indian items added - -lemon rice, tamarind rice, potato roast, beans thoran, sambar, idli, chutney, paneer butter masala, chapati, raita, and gulab jamun. Unlike many Indian restaurants, the food was NOT overly spicy. It was flavorful without drowning in heat. Our guests were happy and well fed! We will definitely use A2B to cater our next event. Went for a weekday lunch yesterday, and food was amazing! Ordered a guntur Kara dosa, sambar vada & a Thali. Dosa came out first, oh so crispy and perfect. Sambar & chutneys tasted great. The Vada came next and we were shocked at how gigantic each Vada was. We meant to eat it like a side dish, but it was big enough to make a one full. One of this Vada is easily equivalent to 3 or more vadas that we make at home/get at other restaurants. Obviously we ended up packing one home. Vada was delicious though. It was completely soaked in the sambar, super soft and melt in the mouth type. Thali took a long time to come (we were done with the dosa and Vada by then and just sitting around for the Thali). Impressive amount & look. Almost everything in the Thali was above average/great, such as, the sambar, the Kara kuzhambu, the rasam, the kurma for chapathi, even the parupu, and carrot halwa. Pulav & spinach/keerai masiyal were okay. But generally, a good filling Thali. I wish they offered a refill of the rice! There are so many curries but not enough rice to finish them all. We ended up packing whatever was left to home, as it seemed like a waste to leave each cup half filled. Overall, great food. A little pricey, but if the extra price means good quality food like that, I don't mind returning now and then! read more
