    Executive thali

Most disappointed in the Thali that they served today. Easily the worst thali experience I ever had.

Went here after a long time and ended up trying different items than usual. I had high hopes on pasta as I usually like Indian take on Italian dishes. But it wasn't great. Pizza was much better and saved the day. Parantha wasn't too good either Would stick with safer dosa idli next time

Heard good things about this A2B so my coworkers and I decided to check it out on a Thursday around 11:45am. Parked on the street but looks like there is a retail/residential parking garage close by. The restaurant was empty when we arrived. There was a happy hour going on from 11am-12pm so we quickly placed our orders. Ordering is done by scanning a QR code and ordering online. You can either order and pay as a group or individually. I got the chole puri and my coworkers got the mysore masala dosa. The food came out fairly quickly. Chole puri (3/5): Good portion size. The puri tasted a little burnt and the chole could have been more flavorful. They didn't provide lemon/onion on the side like many restaurants do My coworkers said the mysore masala dosa was also a 3/5. They said the potatoes and chutneys/sambar were seasoned well. However, the dosa tasted a bit bitter because it was also slightly burnt My coworkers have tried this A2B and they liked it more previously but I found it to be pretty average. Would potentially return if in the area

Loved the delicious food served by them. We visited this place on my toddler's birthday as she enjoys South Indian food. We ordered: Idli, dosa, thali, and rasam. My daughter loved the dosa and idli. I loved the thali as it had a lot of options. And hubby loved the rasam very much. We visited for lunch on a weekday and arrived before the rush hour so we were seated right away. They had baby seat available. Our food arrived on time and additional cutlery was provided on the table. The place is clean and decor is nice. And ample seating was available. Overall a nice spot to get some South Indian food and a thali.

OK, so this place is the most disappointing Indian tea. It it does not actually taste like tea at all. I requested also for coffee and that was also way too better, not like Indian filter coffee. They he dosa was way too greasy. I did like one of their chutney, but the rest of them were too spicy. Their Sweet dish was so sweet that you might want to puke.

We heard they had a breakfast buffet on weekends till 9 to 11 am for 15.99. What best way to try different varieties, so we arrived around 10 am and was not crowded. There was buffet setup, starting with Idli Vada (which was not refilled for quite some time.), pongal, kesari, kitchadi, aloo masala, coconut chutney , tomato chutney and sambar. We were told that dosa and poori can be ordered to the table. There was lot of place to sit as well as they had outdoor space too overall ambiance was good. Idli was soft and not hot and was catching throat. Vada we got it after long time, our batch was good, next one was not that crispy. Consistency is missing. Pongal was very good. In fact it was the savior of the buffet. But it ran out when I want to go for a second serving, and refill did not happen until the end. kitchadi was ok. Kitchadi is same like upma except for the Consistency. Upma will be grainy and seperated like rice whereas kitchadi is like pongal Consistency. Kesari was pineapple flavored no nuts but full of ghee. Aloo masala was decent, it could take more spice. Coconut chutney was good it is another savior along with pongal. Tomato chutney ruined my plate, it was spoiled. This is a big NO! Sambar was ok Dosa was thin and small size when tasted it was sour and made out of old batter. Poori was huge and unappealing take a look at the picture, and it did not sit well with us. You get chai not coffee with buffet and the tea was spoiled or burned or gone bad. One star for ambiance One star for pongal and coconut chutney But risk of eating spoiled/bad food is something not acceptable. A2B is one of the biggest chain in South and loved by so many people for it Consistency and dependable taste and quality, my go to restaurant when I travel in south, did not expect this. Needs QC may be more personal too. Greatly disappointed!

I am always a fan of A2B. There dosa is always on point and crispy. Their coconut chutney and sambar is amazing! I wish they served mint chutney instead of the other green chutney (I can't really taste what it is, maybe it's coriander chutney instead?) Service is good, atmosphere is nice. And they have a QR code to order. It's fast and simple.

Pretty new to the area and a great spot for South Indian food in Pleasanton. There are QR code menus and an online ordering system that can be slightly glitchy. I enjoyed the parotta and korma and the strong filter coffee.

The south indian food here is really good! I like that this place has a better seating options than a couple other south indian restaurants I've been to. The dosas are nice and crispy, and the service is pretty quick! Also, it's quicker as your can place your order right away from your table through the QR code. Minus 1 star for their waitlist management. Their automated qr code system doesn't work as intended amd does not show a true wait time.

Dosa (supposed to be Ghee Roast Dosa)

It was our third time at this restaurant today. We liked the service and the food the first two times, however today it felt really bland. We had Ghee Roast Dosa which lacked salt and ghee. Sambar and Chutneys were good so they compensated for the taste. Naan Pizza was okay. It could use more toppings, it looked fuller in the menu photo but in reality it wasn't. Gobi Fried Rice was good but they served it almost cold. Madras Coffee was the best thing we had today at A2b. Overall it didn't impress. The ambiance is good here and this place is always very busy.

    1. Ambience is very good. 2. Food was fresh and for the authentic best of class south indian restaurant, they can do a notch better but overall its 5 star place. 3. They had pani puri live stall outside and the server was very nice to give us pani puri's tikha paani since it was closing time 4. The staff is courteous and prompt 5. You order throigh online site and we ordered combo Medu Vada and Idli 6. Coffee was awesome. 7. Would have preferred slightly bigger medu vada and chutneys sambhar on the counter so we dont have to ask. 8. Overall great south indian place

The restaurant has regular seating and, in addition, cute closed booths where you can sit at a low table in the traditional Indian way. The rice was seasoned with hawaij and toasted raisins and almonds, and the fish was nicely crispy and covered in a sauce similar to tikka masala, very tasty. They have a few different kinds of delicious yellow dal that make a great accompaniment to Mandi -- spinach, tomato, mango pickle. The menu is very extensive, with a wide range of Telugu dishes. Buffet available all seven days, weekend buffet is slightly more expensive but has a larger spread. **AMBIANCE: large floor to ceiling height but the place is small, it felt real cramped during the weekend buffet when it was packed with people. Their service area is also tight. They had to put two dishes in each chaffing dish to optimize. Weekday buffet was not as packed and i infact saw a huge corporate team gathered for lunch. ***FOOD: doesn't feel like a luxurious buffet due to lack of space but they did have a decent spread with 3-4 veggie appetizers, 3-4 non veg appetizers, 4-5 desserts, Pani puri, fresh table side naan (which was done very beautifully), two varieties of biryani, fried rice, indo Chinese items, 3-4 varieties of non veg curries, 3-4 varieties of veg curries, salad, drinks etc. As with any buffet there will be hits and misses, I for one enjoyed the varied options and the unlimited Pani puri though it was on the sweeter side. The weekend buffet was definitely worth the price tag of $23, the weekday buffet on the other day felt expensive at $20 as the number of items were significantly lower.

Traditional low tables invite you to kick off your shoes and settle onto floor cushions, instantly adding a cozy, almost homestyle feel. What We Ordered * Chicken Mandi - A show-stopping platter of fragrant basmati rice crowned with perfectly roasted chicken. The portion is generous (see photo!) and the spice profile leans savory-warm rather than tongue-scorching, so everyone at the table can dig in. * Mutton Curry - I rarely gamble on mutton when eating out, but this one converted me. The meat was melt-in-your-mouth tender, swimming in a rich, slow-cooked gravy that balanced heat with a gentle hint of clove and cardamom. Absolutely outstanding. Service & Pace There's a sign at the entrance: "This is not fast food. Great taste takes time." Believe it. Dishes are cooked to order, so expect a leisurely wait. The staff checks in just enough to keep you updated, and once the platters hit the table you'll agree the patience tax is totally justified. Pro Tips 1. Go with friends--the mandi platter is made for sharing. 2. Weekends mean live music; arrive a bit early if you want prime floor-seat real estate. 3. Plan for 20-30 minutes from order to first bite; use the time to soak in the music and décor. Bottom Line Indian Canteen's mix of Bollywood flair, floor seating, and from-scratch cooking turns dinner into an experience. If you're craving authentic mandi and a mutton curry , mark this spot on your Milpitas food map--and don't forget to bring your patience and your camera.

Given all of this, the expectation of tipping feels a bit confusing. That said, we came here for the food--and it truly delivered. My husband is Bengali and was craving authentic Bengali food, so we decided to try this place over the weekend, and we absolutely loved it. We started with the mutton (goat) cutlet and Mughlai paratha. The mutton cutlet was adequately stuffed, fried crispy to perfection, and tasted really good. The Mughlai paratha by itself was just okay, but when paired with the aloo tarkari (potato curry) it became an instant hit. For the main course, we ordered chicken chow mein and Katla fish curry with white rice, and both dishes truly transported us straight to Kolkata.
