One of the few late night food spots in the area. The only other place serving curry this late is Everest, and this is waaay better. Got the Goat Nihari and was shocked by how well it was cooked. Good oil separation on top and a lot of depth to the broth. The goat itself was the real surprise. Most Indian spots I go to fail braised goat in one of two ways: overcook it and it's dry and chewy, or braise it so long that it falls apart but loses all its succulence. This one was both tender and succulent. Came near closing too and it was still this good. Most places keep the meat stewing all day and that's how it goes bad. Naan was standard and good. Can't wait to come back and try more next time I need a late night fix. read more

This is it - one good North Indian place in Bay area. I would trust if you say you know a great South Indian spot but I am very skeptical with North Indian restaurant in Bay area. This place changed my opinion for good. Absolutely loved the Chole Kulche and Chole Bature. Also tried the pani puri - it was good. I had better flavors of water in Vancouver but I will take it. I loved the ambience of this place - they have really put effort to bring forth Punjabi small town vibes. Kudos for having that vision. I'd been craving pani puri for months - and I don't trust myself to make it. So this was a fun experience, with a live pani puri experience that mirrors what you'd find in India, standing around a card while trying different flavors (I loved the sweeter flavors). Went to satisfy a pain puri craving and this place doesn't disappoint. I vote this as the best pani puri place with a live counter and five flavors of water. We ended up finding this place as we were driving close by. It doesn't look like much from the outside. The ambiance inside is very quirky and Indian. The toilets were very clean too. The Bollywood fan in me found the decor very interesting. I loved all the food. We got the pani puri which was great! Crispy puris, innovative pani. Not quite sure what happened between visit one and two. We had some amazing food on visit one, but the second time around it was just alright. Outside of the dahi vada, the other chaat was mediocre. The papdi chat was peculiar, it had too much papdi/puri but not enough yogurt and nothing else other than chatnis. The Dahi puri was underseasoned, the chicken was swimming in butter, not a bad thing, but it was lukewarm at best. The roomali roti it came with was just alright. Perhaps we stick to the two things that we enjoyed, the dahi vada and the cholay bhature (from visit one) and assume that other dishes will be a hit or a miss. read more

Pav bhaji (3.5/5): Asked for no butter on the pav and gravy, they did probably add a little to the pav but it's mostly vegan otherwise (got butter that would've gone on the gravy separately). We did pickup order and it was fairly quick food prep. They're open till pretty late especially for a South Bay spot. The aloo tikki chaat was alright. My only complaint was that the chutneys weren't super uniformly spread and each bite ended up tasting very different. The chinese seekh kebab was alright. It was kinda of too salty and the meat quality wasn't too great. It was also dry and tough. The worst offender was the rumali roti. It was too oily and according to Saurav not thin enough to be called rumali The mumtaz chicken was quite good. It was malai-like sauce with grilled chicken. The food is authentic and the portions are great for the price. We ordered the aloo tikki chaat, honey chili potatoes and dahi puri for 4 people and it was very filling. They use dark meat so very tender and juicy, comes with creamy sauce goes very well with the chicken. even their pita(naan) is nice and chewy texture I like. Tried Chandni Chowk for the first time and it was a hit for us especially the gol Guppas since I'm from Delhi. The variety of water it very enticing but I had my two favorites which were mint and khata meetha. My son enjoyed the chicken tikka masala. The naans were very delicious and melted in the mouth. I came across this restaurant while looking for a place that serves pindi chole. Going through the menu, I also found that they serve rumali roti with one of their chicken items. Both of these were enough reasons for me to give this place a try. As you might have guessed, we ordered chole bhature and aslam chicken, which comes with a side of rumali roti. The chole did not disappoint. The bhature was also good. It is slightly thicker than the usual Bhature's that one might be used to having in the Bay Area. The portion was generous, enough to go with the two bhature's that came with it. My husband tried Aslam chicken and loved it. The rumali roti went well with it, although the rumali roti is slightly thicker than the one you get in India. Food was packaged pretty neatly to avoid spills and to prevent the bhature's from getting crushed. The restaurant is in a sketchy neighborhood, so I wouldn't be going here to dine-in but would totally recommend for a takeout as the food is pretty solid here. read more

Have been to their truck in Fremont quite a few times and loved to food. So was thrilled when they opened up this place a little bit closer to where I'm at. Went for a rainy day pickup. The ambiance here is true to the theme. The person at the register was super friendly. I was admiring the selection on snacks and drinks they had up front, so he offered a bag of potato chips (wafers) on the house :D Also saw me staring at the live pani puri station and had me taste all the flavors of pani they had. The food: 1. Chole Bhature: I believe these were pindi style. The chole was flavorful and the bhature was packed in a separate container (not foil) which made it retain its texture. 2. Chicken Chowmein: Tasty with ample amount of chicken which was tender. My kid loved it. 3. Aslam Chicken: One of the best chicken dishes I have had in the bay area. The chicken was juicy and creamy which paired perfectly with the rumaali roti (which is pretty rare to get in the bay area). I wish they had an option to buy the rumaali roti a-la-carte as well. I have been meaning to try this place for a while especially for the live pani puri, so I got a chance to check it out with friends. It's nice that this place is open really late and has good seating inside, so it was a fun place to come to with friends. The decor was nice and really had that Indian street food vibe, so that's always a plus! We got the dahi puri chaat, the chole bhature, and of course the live pani puri that everyone raves about. The dahi puri chaat was flavored decently, but I didn't like the shells they used as it gives a different taste than the ones they use for the pani puri. I know these are better for dahi and chutneys so that they stay crispy and not get soggy, but I'm not the biggest fan of how it feels air fried in a way. The chole bhature was interesting, the chole was good but the bhature felt very Americanized and not authentic. I didn't get the chewiness of bhature and it felt more like pita bread consistency. The pani puri was the best, which 5 different flavors (pineapple, pomegranate, masala spiced, tamarind, and the traditional mint pani). The person gave us 8 for all 4 of us, constantly having it ready for each person as we enjoyed it. I thought the pomegranate and the masala spiced were the most unique, but enjoyed the tamarind the most. The servers were extremely nice and accommodating, so I think that saved the rating a little bit too.
