Started off with the prawn kolivada which were made well, followed by Chicken Saoji (needs more spice imo) which has been my favorite dish here, pretty good this time too but honestly the chicken keema blew my mind. This was the best chicken keema I've ever had and I think thats going to be my new favorite here. Also not pictured is the tasty masala papad! Service was good too.

They serve traditional maharashtrian cuisine. I would say, the spice levels were definitely standard to maharashtra and I would recommend mild or no spice if you have low tolerance. I consider that I have a good spice tolerance, but it was too spicy for me. I wanted to order puranpoli, but they were out. The service is quick and ambiance is casual. I am not very fond of that much spice level, so I might skip them next time. However, it does deserve a try if you aren't familiar of that cuisine.

Awesome place to have Maharashtrian food here in California. We have tried Kothimbeer vadi, Shevbhaji and Hirva Chicken with Chapati, and Piyush here. Taste is great!! Perfect quantity too. Recently we tried Veg Maratha, Pavbhaji which was good too. Service is excellent and so is the decor. Listening to Marathi songs here was cherry on top.

This place was an unexpectedly delicious! Came here randomly when our favorite was closed. Ordered: 1) Paneer Ranjhans: very flavorful lots of cardamom flavor coming through, not creamy but rather immensely flavorful. 2) Veg Peshwai: this dish appeared just like the Paneer Ranjhans but it was amazing. This dish would be even more delicious if it was spiced but with kids the mild version was equally yummy. 3) Shrikhand Puri: it's ok, because I like my version at home. Puri is thick not thin and light. 4) Jowar Bhakri: nice and light..almost like a roti. 5) Paratha: Ajwain paratha...standard. The two guys inside with orange vests were ok. The shorter one seemed nicer, the taller guy: the way he cleaned up other tables was extremely loud (throwing dishes) which made me not want to come here again.

Misal pav & Sabudana vada is one of my favorite maharashtrian foods. I used to work in Pune, MH for couple of years. I've a lot of memories trying different authentic maharashtrian foods. Ambiance: Beautiful, well designed with a lot of native elements including gudi Padwa rituals, maharashtra state map etc., One thing to note here that we've complained about eye itching and irritations & they told it's because of HVAC and onion cutting etc., I really hope they'll work on fixing their HVAC systems. Food: We've ordered a lot of foods for our table. Sabudana vada - 4/5 Kothambir vada- 3.5/5 Kandha vada - 3.5/5 Gobi Manchurian- 3/5 Misal pav - 4/5 Varan - 4/5 I really liked Sabudana vada and Misal pav. Kothambir vada and Kandha vada was okay-ish. Service was good other than the HVAC issue that I already mentioned. Only reason to give 4 overall is because of their ambiance. Otherwise, it's SOLID "3.5"

Visited with couple of my Maharashtrian friends and all of us loved the menu and the food. We ordered veg thali, non veg thali, missal pav , kothambir vadi and sabudana vada. Rice bhakri and Shrikhand were amazing and we ordered some for later as well. Prices are reasonable. Ambience is simple yet good.service was very polite and attentive too. Definitely recommended if you are in town and in mood for maharashtrian delicacies

Had a great time. Food was spicy and delicious. Serving sizes are good. Easy to share. Good ambience and service. I live a little far away but will definitely visit when I am in the area next.

Wonderful maharashtrian soul food! Good diverse menu. Food was tasty & flavorful - we ordered mutton curry, chicken makhani, paneer curry, zunka. Chai, piyush & Kokomo sherbet was nice as well. Kothimbir Vasu was superb, Vada pav and sabudana Vada were nice. Good service, wonderful and cultural ambience. Sandeep and Pradeep were good attentive hosts. Good time all in all.

Tried Swaraj India in Santa Clara recently. The vada pav was the highlight--crispy, flavorful, and reminded me of street food back home. Unfortunately, the mains were just average. Both the paneer and chicken dishes lacked depth in flavor, and I was surprised to find out they don't serve naan. For an Indian restaurant, the absence of any tandoori or bread options really took away from the overall experience. Service was below average--not very attentive and a bit disorganized. I'm giving 2.5 stars solely for the vada pav. Otherwise, the visit was underwhelming.

    Pav for usal

We went with our maharashtrian friends who were visiting from east coast. They were very excited to try the dishes. We ordered Vada pav, sabudana vada, masala taak, sol kadhi, zunka, matki chi usal. Vada pav was very spicy but tasty. Sabudana vada was pretty good too. Bhajra roti which we ordered which zunka was pretty thick. Zunka was decent. Usal gravy was oily as expected. As that's how it is supposedly. Service was pretty bad as they had less ppl working, we had to remind them about masala taak thrice and in final bill they added it extra as we kept reminding them.

TLDR : Great food - authentic Maharashtrian spices, nice ambience depicting stories for Maharashtra and quick service We tried Swaraj India as it was highly recommended by friends for authentic Maharashtrian cuisine. This place comes closest to finding spicy Maharashtrian food in the bay area. The menu is exhaustive with multiple options to choose from. The prawns koliwada was good and the saoji chicken was nice and spicy. Loved the Bhakri and sol kadhi!

They have a wall filled with Indian artwork which made a great backdrop for pictures. **FOOD: We tried a lot of varieties, across the board the food was decent but not one dish was extraordinary which evoked a wow factor. I asked our server to suggest only the best of the their menu and this is what we got. Andhra chilli chicken-4/5- it was like an indo Chinese dish with corn starch and some Andhra chillies. Authenticity aside, the dish was delicious and lip smacking with a wonderful zip of heat. Flame grilled chicken- 4.5/5- their version of tandoori chicken. It was made well, had a good char and the flavors ran deep into the meat. The chicken was extremely tender as well. Avocado tikki-3.5/5- slightly salty. Come to think of it, the other vegetarian dish we got - water chestnut kofta was a bit salty as well. Crispy outside and very soft inside. Decent but not noteworthy. Kala mutton-3/5- the mutton was tough in parts and the gravy lacked a punch which meat normally needs. Pressure cooker chicken-3.5/5- this was Andhra style chicken gravy and it came directly to our table in a small cooker. The consistency was a bit watery and though the flavors were present it was on the milder side. Donne biryani-4/5- wonderful rich flavor, the rice absorbed the flavors wonderfully as well. Too much meat and very little rice and there was fat accumulated at the bottom. Rose Kulfi experience- Experience-5/5 Rose kulfi-3.5/5 Family enjoyed the experience of watching the liquid nitrogen convert the sweet Rabdi into icecream. We got to crush a frozen red rose into the rabdi as well before it got converted to icecream. Weak point was the cloying sweetness of the rabdi and the consistency of the icecream- parts of it were still liquid and some parts were over frozen.

If it's for 2, how come only a single gulab Jamon. Also it states 2 curry's and 1 masala, but it was missing 1 of the proteins. This was the description: "Chicken curry, chicken tikka masala, lamb curry, naan, rice, raita, dessert, and salad typically compose this non-vegetarian thali for two" $27.50. Special instructions field was not operable as we woukd have asjed for mild and we were ok with the spice. it was between mild and medium. We both had a warmth over out beings and reached fir the raita to cool our mouths. My dining partner didn't eat much and got a really bad stomach ache. I didn't have a stomach ache bc I did not have any of the items in this Thali set. With my dining partner getting a bad stomachache, missing one of the proteins in the order and the minimal dessert of one when it's described as a set for two people. My partner shouted a strong zero. 0/5 Since I thought the combo above would be enough, I ordered garlic naan, it also came into half circles. Naan was thick and very dry. It reminded me of Greek pita bread but with scorches from a clay oven or skillet. Im used to get getting a green and reddish dip sauce but not from this restaurant. A la carte garlic naan iis $ 4.50 person naan. 2/5 In addition I ordered mushroom matter/mutter @ $14.50. This was very different than others I've had. At other pl all, whole mushrooms. But in this container, it barely had any and the mushrooms were sliced thinly and swimming in masala sauce. It was more saucy than it's contents. I felt like perhaps it was the end of the night and they were running low on mushrooms and peas. It was more a 1/5 . Needless to say, I would not recommend this establishment based on this experience.

It was hot day so I m assuming they had problems with their chutney or maybe it was the samosa with the potato filling. Upset tummy aside, the chaat flavors were decent, not the best of the lot but decent nonetheless.

First off, the delivery was a smooth process, dot on time and packaged with such precision. Ankush, who runs the show at Delhicacies came to do the honors and as well left detailed instruction on how to go about preparing one of the starter dishes that we had ordered (Bhalle Papdi chaat that is). The menu we chose included Bhalle Paapdi Chaat, Cocktail Samosas, Paneer Tikka Masala, Chana Masala, Baingan Bharta, accompanied by Roomali Roti and Lacchay Pyaaz as a side salad. The Bhalle Paapdi Chaat was an instant crowd-pleaser, with the perfect balance of crispy papdi, fresh bhalle, cool sweet yogurt, tangy tamarind along with green sauces, a secret masala powder and a garnish of beetroot , pomegranate and cilantro. All of these were packed separately and instructions were provided (step by step) to prepare the end result which tasted out of the world good. It was refreshing yet packed with flavors that kept everyone asking for seconds. The Cocktail Samosas were golden, crisp, and filled with a spiced potato mixture that made them an ideal finger food--perfectly bite-sized and not greasy at all. For the main course, the Paneer Tikka Masala (PTM) stole the show with its rich, velvety sauce that coated the tender paneer in just the right amount of spice. The flavors were balanced yet bold, making it a standout dish. The earthy flavor in the paneer made it finger licking good and definitely was the biggest hit of the evening. The Chana Masala had the perfect texture--soft chickpeas simmered in a well-spiced gravy that had just the right amount of heat and tang. Cubes of paneer in there definitely made it a good overall combination and complemented with the PTM. The smoky and flavorful Baingan Bharta added an earthy depth to the meal as well. The eggplant was roasted beautifully, bringing out its natural flavors, which paired wonderfully with the Romali Roti. The roti was soft, thin, and warm, making it the ideal vehicle to soak up the gravies. We did end up heating the rotis in our microwave oven for about 10-15 seconds in batches and they remained perfect in their texture and taste. The Lacchay Pyaaz--freshly sliced onions with a sprinkle of masala--added a crunchy, refreshing bite to balance the richness of the other dishes. Overall, Delhicacies delivered an out of the world authentic North Indian culinary experience with each dish tasting as though it was prepared with care and precision. The food was flavorful, perfectly spiced, and served fresh. Our guests were impressed, and we couldn't have been happier with the quality of food and service of delivery. If you're looking for reliable and delicious Indian catering, Delhicacies should be at the top of your list! Give them a chance and thank me later. You are welcome!!!
