Had an average experience here. I got a thali to go which comes with 2 veggies, I chose the paratha, kadhi, rice, raita, 2 desserts and a drink. Well they forgot to give us the drink and one of the desserts. Moreover, we had requested paneer for the veg and we got chhole instead. So we had chhole, dal making and kadhi. No veg. Sev puri- came with 7 puri for $8. Really tasty but hard to share. Came with a group of 4 and I unfortunately only got 1 so it wasn't worth it for me. If it came with 8, I would've been fine. With it if you're with less than 4 people Hyderabadi bagara baigan - this had 4 small eggplants and the sauce was delicious. I would get this again. Methi paratha - good but I could skip it. Overnight dal makhni with warqi paratha- this would good but could skip it because it was more like a soup. Garlic naan- got 2 orders and it was well made, crispy and chewy and not too thick packed with garlic. I'd get it again. Chana bhatura- this was tasty and loved the puff bread with it. Wouldn't mind getting this again. No pic of this since this was a later order. We were still hungry. Masala paneer frankie- really tasty wrap. I'd get this again. Full chaat bhavan regular menu but in a smaller setting. I enjoy chaat bhavan food and never had issues with their regular restaurant menu. I tried their food at Fremont, Sunnyvale and Mountain View. Catering was a mixed experience though. Coming to this location, I was disappointed for the first time with their food. I got the bhel thali and quality of the curries was subpar. The paneer curry was literally water with a few sorry looking pieces of paneer and peas floating in it. The carrot halwa had enough sweetness to knock a person senseless and had a weird taste. Though the bhel was decent, it had a lot of nylon sev. We also got saag paneer and some naans and they didn't disappoint. read more

From the outside, this looks like a well run, competent take out place and yes, many people were ordering take out with smiles on their faces, but my boyfriend and I decided to stay and eat in before heading back to SF. The presentation? Superb. The ambiance? Warm. Clean. The service (run by one impeccable professional) was excellent. The food? To the heavens! We were working with a dietary restriction here of no grains and to our delight, there were so many options even with a vegetarian menu. Everything we had was fresh, flavorful, the right amount of spice. We had a feast but didn't leave feeling groggy or weighed down. The saddest part? Server cleaned tables (multiple of them) with patron's used napkins. Super gross and an obvious violation of county health code. I sent an e-mail to the restaurant with no reply, so sharing here. Visit was March 5, 2026 My message to them: I just visited your location on Lawrence Expressway and observed one of your servers repeatedly using patrons' used napkins to clean the tables without following up with proper sanitization. After I was seated at a table wiped down in this manner, I asked for him to clean the table, but he just moved me to another table, and then watched him wipe down the next table in the exact same way. While I am merely a patron, I have my ServSafe Certification and know that this is a gross violation of SCC DEH cleaning requirements (and is frankly just gross). As your employee would obviously have to have completed their ServSafe certification to work in food service, they should know this, as well. You have Clorox wipes sitting on the counter, so obviously you are aware of the cleaning requirements, but your employee is not following them. read more

My only personal preference would have been to have the sev puri much less sweet for Indian palette. I've always known Chinese bhel to be served a little cool, but this was warm. Tea was ok. I've always gone to Chaat Bhavan in Fremont whenever I craved Indian food, but since moving to Sunnyvale, I hadn't tried any new spots. I drive around Lawrence Expressway almost every day and kept noticing this location because the name looked so similar to the one in Fremont. I wasn't sure if it was the same company or just another restaurant with a similar name. Last weekend, I finally decided to give it a try -- and confirmed it's part of the same franchise with the same menu. The food quality was just as good as Fremont's, if not a bit tastier. I went right when they opened, so the service was excellent too. It's such a nice discovery that I can now enjoy the same delicious Indian food without having to drive 30 minutes from my new home. The seating area was bit small so I will go again when they open. read more

Really well prepared food. Seasonal (December) sweet corn soup was delicious. Want to try more of the menu. Had the Bombay tea, which was pretty good. And also their Bombay sandwich, also pretty good very well prepared. Spice was a little on the high side for me with respect to heat. But I also have a pretty low tolerance. I asked for some sweet chutney to balance the heat a bit and that helped. Wouldn't say it's super spicy, just more than I prefer. The fries that came with it were delicious they were very lightly battered very crispy. Menu seems to have a bit of a fusion element to it. All vegetarian. Inside is small but very nice. I was glad to have discovered the Sunnyvale location, as I'm a regular at the Fremont one. The quality is consistently great at both spots. My only minor gripe was being seated at the table near the entrance (at my own request) but I wish someone had checked in occasionally to see if I wanted to order more. Tried the following items Tokri chat - it had chilled aalloo..felt like they just got it out of the freezer. Taste was good though Tika paneer - good Mooli parantha was on the menu but they did not have. Tried gobhi parantha instead. It was ok. I generally like crisp parantha. But it was very soft, and gobhi felt crunchy and undercooked Sprouts chaar - it was ok. Nothing too good. Not bad either read more

I've only ordered takeout, but their thalis are such an excellent value! Satisfying variety of mostly bean- or lentil-based dishes and the spice level is not too hot. My order is usually prepared fast and I appreciate that the chaas is included, love the cumin. We came here on a weekend, hungry and tired. The food came out quick and was delicious! We ordered chilli paneer wrap, methi puri, spinach puri and bhindi masala. Everything tasted perfect! The restaurant has a small seating area so it may get challenging to find a seat during busy hours. They also accepted gift cards (when chaat bhavan Sunnyvale gave me a lot of trouble redeeming chaat bhavan gift cards!). I have also catered from this location and would highly recommend! read more

I was invited to Chaat Bhavan Express a couple of days ago. We shared the tandoori paneer tikka, and pani puri. I ordered a paneer tikka wrap and masala chai for myself. Very yummy food. A couple of days later, I returned to try more. We had a Snack Combo with Dahi Papdi Chaat, and pani puri, plus a Chana bhatura. It was actually a lot of food and we ended taking leftovers home. There was a gourmet touch in the dahi papdi chaat with pomegranate, and the Chana had halved Cherry tomatoes. Nice touches. Again, the food was delicious but the thing I realized was that the atmosphere was very nice with silverware and proper dinnerware. There was jazz Muzak in the background - at the perfect volume too. Even the menus were fancy looking like at a classy sit-down restaurant. Quite the contrast to other fast-food and food truck Chaat places around here. And the prices were the same. Better yet the staff gentleman who served us was attentive and friendly. Wow. So while I will still usually go to the Chaat truck near me, I would recommend Chaat bhavan express for Chaat with friends and a sit-down experience in comfort and with friendly ambience. read more
