NEVER AGAIN! I gave up on this location a couple years ago. They are my delivery location. I only ordered Chanellos if I could pick it up somewhere else. This past week, I decided to order delivery. I ordered cheese breadsticks. With Door Dash doing deliveries, the driver didn't care that they forgot to pack the Dipping sauce. I called and the girl wanted to refund the $2 for the missing sauce. When I told her that was unacceptable, like getting a pizza with no sauce, she HUNG UP ON ME. They should close this location and redraw the delivery lines. It could have been a mental thing, but the quality of what we got was substandard also. It was definitely cut poorly. read more

If you don't have a driver THEN REMOVE DELIVERY FROM YOUR WEBSITE!!!! Seriously, this is BEE ES (). I ordered pizza around 11:20PM (1st picture - email). Chanellos isn't my "go-to" pizza (really no pizza-delivery joint is, but I digress), but in the past, it takes about 30ish minutes from when I get the email to when the pizza is delivered. So I was surprised to see that the time was 12:10 or about 50 minutes (2nd picture - order confirmation). But it is what it is. I was drinking and wanted Chanellos and I wasn't worried about another 20 or so minutes. Around midnight, I check the order tracking and this was when I found out that the "delivery driver' was actually Doordash. I CANNOT STAND Doordash. I've NEVER had luck with them. They take hours to deliver sometimes, sometimes I don't even get my food, sometimes my food is cold and one time, I request a refund and got a $8 refund out of a $40 order that I NEVER RECEIVED. To be clear, have I been informed that the pizza was going to be delivered via Doordash, I would never ordered with Chanellos. Nothing on the website mentioned that (a) didn't have any drivers as scheduled or (b) was using Doordash as a third-party delivery service. The order went from 12:10 to 12:30 then to 12:30, then and the tracker said the driver was "waiting at the store for my order." (3rd picture - order tracker) THAT WAS A LIE!!! I had already called Chanellos at 12:20 (4th picture call record) and the order taker said my pizza had been ready for over 30 minutes (so it was ready prior to 11:50). I sent a message to the Doordash driver and I got an automated reply, so I'm pretty sure that's not the drivers real phone number (I redacted the number regardless). Then he sent some cryptic messages,but again it was a lie (5th/6th picture - Doordash texts). The driver wasn't at the location and Chanellos didn't mess up my order. The order delivery time continued to grow until it was 1AM (7th picture - order tracker: 1am). I tried to call the driver, but was again connected to automated bot or something (4th picture call record). At that point, I called Chanellos again (4th picture call record) and told asked them how we could resolve the issue. The person on the phone said Doordash is notorious for this; "claiming an order for pickup while having no available driver to deliver the pizza." They also told me they weren't sure they could cancel the order because the order was made on the website and they don't manage order made through the website. Essentially, my only option was to come get the pizza myself; but I was already a quarter of the way through a handle; so there was no way I could get it. So I had to wake up my wife at 1am to get us the pizza or just suck up a $50 loss. So I wake up my wife and explained her the situation and she was so nice to go get the pizza . While my wife was enroute to pick up the pizza, Chanello's cancelled the order (8th picture - order cancellation), but no refund was issued. Luckily, when my wife arrived they still gave her the pizza and most of the other items on the order (the forgot the extra sauces). Instead of a refund for an order that was made nearly 2 hours prio, of which I paid a delivery fee and too to the "driver" and that was missing items was offered a free cookie for my troubles. No seriously.... That was it; a lot free cookie. I understood that the real issue was caused by Doordash, but Chanellos failure to inform it's customers that they don't have a driver, that Doordash was the third-party delivery service provider and that Doordash didn't have any available drivers and/or that Doordash has a history of not actually delivering their pizza is why I'm giving Chanellos a one-star rating. read more

The Blizzard of '22 proved to be a pizza worthy dinner for me and my fiancee. Chanello's in Kemps River provided sustenance for the two of us and my friends without breaking bank with service and pizza creation of 10 minutes. Chanello's is cool when there isn't any other pizza place open. 3 am on weekends and pickup 1 topping for 10 dollars is dope. I feel like this location has declined in the past years though. The taste just isn't the same. Was out and about running errands when I decided to place an order for the USS Norfolk sub (turkey, ham, steak, cheese, onions, green peppers, tomatoes, lettuce) with a side of fries and a canned drink. Food was ready on time. Good customer service. Paid, tipped, dipped. Sat in my car enjoying the fresh air while listening to NPR when I took my first bite of fries. It's been a couple of years since I'd ordered from them so I wasn't sure what to expect. Fries were hot and crispy, but a bit of a letdown as they tasted like they were fried in old oil. Great service by the Manager! On 9May2021, at about 10pm, I ordered a large pepperoni pizza by phone. I entered the store and a lady appearing to be making pizza behind one of the counters said, be right with you. She then started talking about flip flops with another employee. A 3rd employee (prob a manager) then stated, stop talking about flip flops and help the customer up front. I gave this place three chances because I love their pizzas so much. Each time it took over an hour to arrive and they were room temperature. This last time I waited an hour and a half and finally called the store. Manager said it was on the way. By that time I already had a frozen pizza started and told him to cancel it. Terrible service. Have been ordering Chanello's for years. It seems the biggest challenge they have nowadays is consistency. Recently, the Kempsriver location has truly improved on what was already fine food being put out by this location. Additionally, the staff there are very courteous. Particularly, there is a shift manager there, I can't remember her name. She is very kind, funny, and will do all she can to see to a customer's service. I grew up eating this pizza and really enjoy it. Only in Virginia will pizza places throw in cups of ranch dressing to dip your crust in. I think all other states need to follow suit and continue this trend. This pizza isn't all that exciting although the crust is really soft and chewy and I do like that the pizza is a bit salty than most. The sauce has got a nice kick to it as well. I usually go with a plain ole Pepperoni and Cheese or get a Supreme. My little brother told me that the Gigantic Pizza...a 20 incher...the crust is way better than the traditional. I do know they always have deals and coupons for you to use. I definitely recommend than your traditional chains: Pizza Hut, Little Cesare's or Dominoes. read more

First off, I've always loved Chanellos... I have memories as a kid attached to the place... which may make me a biased... but anyway. Just got back from grabbing a pizza with my boyfriend, and they were SLAMMED. There was only one girl working there, she had her hair in a bun, was about 5'3 (really wish I caught her name). Anyway, she was doin it all, sans driving, and even though I could tell she was stressed, she was SUPER nice and worked her butt off.
