Amazing mango sticky rice with blue rice
Gary G.

What an amazing experience this was eating some of the best food ever! Between the Navajo reservation and a corner somewhere in Winslow Arizona sits Chang Thai. The taste is on another level. The parking is more than ample on a gravel lot right in front of Chang Thai. I ordered Golden Flower -Rangoon. There is none better in all the world according to my experience and estimation. It had a white crab sauce inside a beautifully made fried crust and it is worth a trip to experience. For entree I chose salmon with vegetables. The salmon was simply as good as it can ever be. I could not believe how great this food is way out on the outskirts of Winslow. The restaurant is full of items and pictures of Thailand making this an actual cultural experience. The service was good and the people were very friendly. My server noticed I was really thirsty when I asked for a water refill and she brought me two waters instead of just one refill. The owner is a woman who is Thai and grew up in Thailand where she learned to cook the best Thai food. I believe Chang Thai is a must visit destination restaurant.

Food is cooked to perfection. Outside is nothing special, inside Is clean and staff is friendly. I had a veggie dish and they made it taste so good. (I'm trying to eat more veggies)

House Fried Rice w/ Chicken add $5Shrimp

Ordered Pad Thai with Chicken and House Fried Rice with Chicken and Shrimp, the total was around $48...business must be slow around these parts. I get how the additional cost came about because it's more expensive to add $5 shrimp versus $3 chicken plus container fees. The rice was absolutely trash, too soft and barely any flavor even though I asked for spice. The pad Thai was okay, the up charge must equate to a $1 per shrimp because there was barely any proteins on the plates, mainly rice and rice noodles. It's safe to say they will never get another chance from me! Have the business longevity you deserve. If you like the place, I love that for you!

I highly recommend this place if you like Thai food. I lived in northern Thailand for 5 years, and this is the best Thai food I've found in Northern Arizona. It is traditional, and the flavors and herbs are fresh. In conversation with the very sweet owner, Mas, she said she goes to Phoenix 2 to 3 times a week to get fresh ingredients. It is clean and comfy inside, the customer service is great, and the food is wonderful. I will definitely be back.

Soup of the day; Pork & bok choy

Food was delicious and served fresh! The owner and our server were both very welcoming and friendly, sat us down immediately and even suggested the drunken noodles which was an amazing choice by the way. The restaurant is so cute and clean I loved the decor!

Super friendly staff! The food is fresh and the spice is just right. Lots of vegan options. kudos to Chef, Vikki, Ashley and Kayden for two thoroughly enjoyable meals.

Chang Thai restaurant on I40 in Winslow, AZ

On the road again, coming home from Bryce Canyon. A lucky stop at Chang Thai on I40 in Winslow, AZ, and Thai food for lunch. My lunch was the eggplant curry with chicken and two pieces of shrimp. Delicious. And an excellent change from the meat and potatoes buffet at Ruby's Inn in Bryce Canyon.

Drunken Noodles with Beef!

We have driven past the signs for this Thai restaurant on the I-40 and never had the chance to stop and try it out. Today we decided to call in a take out order and pick it up to take home. Quick and easy to order by phone and our food was ready within 15-minutes! The inside of the restaurant is very clean and all employees were very pleasant! I ordered the chicken pad Thai (spice level 1) and my boyfriend had the beef drunken noodles (spice level 3). We shared the Chang Thai Sampler platter with spring rolls, wontons, and gyoza. Everything was piping hot and delicious! Next time I'm going to get spice level 2 to add more spice. My boyfriend said spice level 3 was perfect! We will absolutely stop here again while taking road trips along the I-40. Highly recommend.

Chang Thai, a clean & great atmosphere to enjoy good & authentic Thai food.

A friend and I decided to try this restaurant because we wanted to give it a fair chance, despite its many negative reviews. We ordered the Pad Thai and the Pad Kee Mao. Both dishes arrived with a thin, brown, watery sauce pooling in the bottom of the bowls. From the moment they were set on the table, something seemed wrong. The aroma was unpleasant, and after only a couple of bites, we both knew we couldn't eat them. The flavors were bland and unbalanced, and neither dish bore any resemblance to the classic Pad Thai or Pad Kee Mao we've come to expect. I ordered my Pad Kee Mao "Thai Hot." Despite the menu clearly describing it as spicy, there wasn't even the slightest hint of heat. Our server was very kind and apologetic. She explained she was new and went to get the owner. Unfortunately, that's when the experience went from disappointing to completely unacceptable. The only solution the owner offered was for us to order two entirely new entrées, which we declined. He immediately declared, **"There is nothing wrong with the food,"** without tasting it or addressing any of our concerns. We politely asked to have the meals removed from the bill since we'd taken only a couple of bites, but he refused. He also declined to offer even a partial discount. At that point, we simply said we would pay the full bill and leave. Instead, the owner became increasingly confrontational. He raised his voice and demanded to know where we'd eaten Thai food before and whether we'd ever even been to Thailand, repeatedly telling us that we **"know nothing."** Thai food is one of my favorite cuisines, and I've enjoyed it at restaurants all over the country, so that was an incredibly bizarre response. I've also managed restaurants for most of my career, and I understand that not every guest will love every dish. That's simply part of the business. What matters is how concerns are handled. Never, in all my years in hospitality, would I have dreamed of speaking to paying customers the way we were spoken to. The conversation reached an entirely different level when he looked at us and called us **"IDIOTS"** while we were standing there trying to pay our bill and leave. At no point were we yelling, demanding free food, or causing a scene. We had taken only a couple of bites, couldn't eat the meals we'd been served, and were simply hoping for a reasonable resolution. Instead, we were insulted for respectfully voicing our concerns. When I again asked if we could please just pay and leave, he continued yelling and finally said, **"If you don't pay, you'll be sorry."** At that point, all we wanted to do was get out of there. This review isn't simply about food that missed the mark. It's about an owner who appears completely unwilling to accept feedback and who chose to berate his customers instead of addressing a legitimate concern with professionalism. The food was among the worst Thai food I've ever been served. What made it truly unacceptable, however, was the owner's behavior, which was shockingly unprofessional, openly hostile, and far more offensive than the meal itself. I genuinely hoped this restaurant would prove the negative reviews wrong. Instead, we left understanding exactly why so many people had written them. For the sake of future customers, I sincerely hope the owner takes those reviews to heart. Whether that means revisiting the recipes, investing in better kitchen training, hiring a new chef, or improving the way customer concerns are handled, something clearly needs to change. Otherwise, this restaurant will continue to drive people away and has little chance of improving its reputation.

They charge an additional 3.99% for card payments, so I chose to pay cash. After taking my money, the server never returned with my change. I waited while she took a phone order, delivered food to other customers, and processed another table's payment, but she never acknowledged me again. Because I never received my change, I unintentionally left approximately a 36% tip. It felt very obvious that she had no intention of returning, which really bothered me. On a positive note, when I arrived, another customer walked in at the same time. I asked whether she had eaten there before and if the food was good. She said yes and mentioned that she visits a few times each month, so the restaurant clearly has regular customers. Overall, the food was enjoyable, but the service and the issue with my change left a bad impression.
