This is our go to To-Go place. It ALWAYS comes hot and on time. Sometimes even comes early (which is a real treat when you're starving...) We always get the chicken fried rice. It is flavorful and they add cabbage or lettuce and bean sprouts which gives it an extra crunch and flavor. We also love their wonton soup and their skewers. Beef is the best. Their wonton soup has a clear flavorful broth with smooth and tasty wontons in it. It's a perfect soup. Their wings are not Asian wings but they are flour-batter-fried and cooked really well and come with a spicy buffalo sauce. Wouldn't expect it from this place but it's really good fried chicken. This place is either the absolute worse or COMPLETELY RACIST! The first time, I thought it was maybe just me thinking too much,,,,hell no on the 2nd try! The male host doesn't say anything to you, just motions for you to follow him to a table. We arrived at 11:55am, watched several tables walk in after us and get their food before us. We finally asked about our food at 12:30 and he says, we're busy....The place is practically empty!! He's always rude, and After practically having to pull him to the table, he rushes you to order, and walks off while you are still speaking! So, you want to say that doesn't make him racist, well, everyone else in the restaurant were served and not rushed.....guess what....NONE OF THEM PEOPLE OF COLOR! My money is green like anyone else!! I've been eating at Chang's for many years. It has always been good until recently. On my last order the egg drop soup tasted like water. There was no flavor to the soup. I haven't eaten there in awhile because of the soup, today I thought I would try again. I ordered the egg drop soup with my meal and this time it was so thick the spoon was able to stand up straight in it. More like a very thick pudding than a soup. I don't know what's going on there, but I'm not wasting any more of my money on this restaurant. I will be finding a new favorite. read more

OVERPRICED meals for mediocre American-Chinese food you can get anywhere. My usual dish of General Tso's Chicken was $16 compared to $8-$10 at other places for the same portion. Just before Bingo on a Thursday night (of course!) Steve M and I were thinking of going for pizza. I saw this little place on my way to meet with him and decided this would be our "pizza" replacement. The restaurant is very small, but cozy. The place looks like they put some effort into making it look cute, and it does. They have outdoor seating in case you want to enjoy the Houston heat!! The food is the kind served at PF Chang's: Americanized Chinese. I thought the flavor of my Mongolian shrimp was very good. It was right on point, not too salty and with plenty of sauce. My only complaint is that the shrimp were not as tender (or soft) as I like them. The food is very inexpensive @ $10-15 per entree. The service was good too. I just adore this neighborhood Chinese food and the staff are all so nice. Unfortunately the last few times we have eaten in or ordered for delivery or take out, both my husband and I have gotten sick. They have definitely changed the quality of the meats, as they are rubbery and not much taste. The sauce is the same on everything. The egg rolls are tasteless. Sad that they also charge us for brown rice. Unfortunately, no more eating here and hopefully in time, they can improve what they changed in the quality of their food and will clean up the restaurant too. read more

I ordered General Tso's chicken and orange chicken, they tasted the same. Not good, too much sauce. The white rice was ok. The egg drop soup and crab wantons were good. The food was overpriced for the taste of it. I have tasted better store bought orange chicken and General Tso's. When you order make sure you say you want it from the daily special or they will charge you a regular order which is overpriced as mentioned before. read more

Ok I really should have paid attention to Claire L.'s review. But I was really hungry and craving dumplings and noodle soup. So I figured what the h-e-double hockey sticks, I'll order take out. Pros: They're super fast. Cons: The food. I ordered Special noodle soup with wontons ($2 extra). I mean really? How can you screw it up? By americanizing it. The soup was the normal yellow, msg-y broth. The vegetables, while still crunchy were like the bags from HEB in the frozen food section called Stir-fry mix. There were slivers of chicken and a couple small shrimp in it and not much noodles. Mostly soup. REALLY? Noodles, next to rice are the cheapest things on earth, and you can't put a handful or 2 in there? Also, the dumplings I ordered were tiny. Like smaller than a ping pong ball sized. There were like 4 in there. I got full mainly off drinking the soup. I can't say that I won't go back, b/c I'll probably be lazy in the future and need to eat lunch, but expect americanized chinese food. read more

I really enjoy this place. It isn't my favorite, but it's pretty good. Seriously, you haven't had bad Chinese until you've had Happy All Chinese in the med center. I ordered the sweet and sour chicken today and genuinely enjoyed my meal. First course was the wonton soup; the actual wonton was small, but the flavor in the broth was outstanding! My boyfriend just moved into the new apartments across the street and I was hungry so we walked over about 9:30p to place a to-go order. Although we were there 30 minutes prior to closing the staff was very nice and accommodating. We were the only ones in the restaurant so I guess it's hard not to be accommodating. The owner (I'm assuming she was the owner) led us to the bar and gave us a menu to look over. The bartender/server gave some suggestions and I decided on the fried rice with a meat combo. It had chicken, beef and shrimp. The rice was delicious, the veggies were crisp and fresh and the meat was tender and flavorful. It wasn't salty so I had to add soy sauce (I love salty) and the portion was so large I could only manage to eat half. I would definitely go back especially because of the tenderness of the beef and the fact that their food contains no MSG. read more

Okay let's be honest Chinese food is Chinese food, right? Well, not really. I've had some good and bad experiences with Chinese restaurants but I'm pleased to say that not only was the food good but the restaurant is CLEAN. Thank goodness! Do not do delivery!!!!!! Why give that option when it would take a minimum of 1.5 hours to get your food delivered? If they would have told me this the first time I called I would have cancelled my online order. It took my order (2 items) 2 hours!!! Within those two hours I did not get my food delivered, I had to call the restaurant twice to see how much longer it would take and each time the lady kept saying 'another 45 mins'. The manager Jen said I was not the only one waiting that long for my food, even people that were dining in had to wait a long time. Sounds like poor management to me. The service is kind and friendly, the atmosphere is quiet and relaxing, and the food is delicious, especially the orange peel chicken. Also one of the better moo-shee pork dishes I've had in a long time. It's not really fair to compare Chang's to the more authentic Asian restaurants in Chinatown... This is standard "Americanized" Chinese food, which is ok for me most of the time. The difference for me is that Chang's food is better than most standard Chinese restaurants, and they offer a pleasant environment for you to enjoy your meal as well. Fu's wasn't opening for another half hour, so we decided to head here for lunch instead. It was ok, not great, not terrible, just ok. Next time I'd probably wait til Fu's opened though! I had curry chicken (no soup and a crab puff, which was pretty much all cream cheese that had been threatened with crab flavour) the crab puff was the hottest part of my meal, the rice was cold, the curry luke-warm and for it being opening time, you'd think the food would be cooked fresh. Friend had cashew chicken, (no soup and an egg roll, that she cut open and ate the insides from), it was better than the curry, pretty tasty. I took a to-go cashew chicken home for hubby, portion was about twice as big and twice as hot, maybe if we go back it's best to take out, but being so close to Fu's I doubt we will return, pretty reasonable prices though :) read more

I've had delivery here twice and they have never failed to meet my expectations. My order has never been wrong and it seems to come within 20 - 30 minutes. The food came piping hot and the delivery guy was very friendly. He handled my food with care. Most delivery services toss your bag around so when you unpack all of the items, most of the food has been spilled everywhere. This is not the case. They give you the essentials such as forks, spoons, knives, fortune cookie, sweet and sour sauce that accompanies your order. So down to the food. I had the Sizzling Shrimp with Black Bean Sauce. As the menu indicated it was damn spicy. The more I ate, the spicier it got. There were ample and huge portion sized shrimps in the entree. The shrimp was not gamy and the veggies were fresh. The Pork Egg Rolls were very tasty, crispy and golden brown. The lunch specials are great and I would highly recommend. I usually order in the evenings as I work late. I live right around the corner so I foudn this place just by searching for "chinese food". I got the Kung pao chicken and an order of crab puffs. The kung pao was great as was the hot and sour soup that came with it. Nothing that is going to make you write home to mom about (although possibly to Yelp). As we all know most strip mall Chinese is pretty similar. The only bad part of the meal was the crab puffs. It's like they forgot to fry them or something. It was just thin, cold batter. So stay away from those. I recommend it for those nights when you have a Chinese food craving and don't want to spend a lot of time or money. read more

Dinner portions are big and not overly priced. Had the Kung Pao and was pleased with the quality and quanity of chicken but the cashews were not the best. Also tried the new Hong Kong style chicken wings. got the Spicey Thai flavored and was very impressed with the flavor but not the wings themselves. If they used a quality of wing like BW3, these would be the bomb. Also the Hot and Sour soup was on the better half of the HnS soups I have had in Houston.
