Food is always really fresh, the cook always does a nice job of cooking the food exactly how you want - crispy, non-crispy etc. Service is good, I believe it's family owned, so the employees are really personable. They changed about a 1.5 yrs ago allowing you to do take out.. take out, at a buffet? How awesome! You get to fill 2 bowls which is a ton of food. But, this is also a super healthy option if you're tying to watch the extra carbs and unhealthy fats. I did all meat and veggies. Added some sesame oil, ginger, and garlic for cooking. When I visited Changs, I had just received some bad news that my car (parked in another state while I visited Oregon) had been towed. When I left Changs, I was stuffed beyond belief & felt way better. My cousin & I were looking for a casual place to eat. She had never tried Mongolian food so I decided to take her to a local Mongolian place. It was our first time at Changs, I didn't even know it was a chain restaurant. But it is a fairly large, buffet style joint. All you can eat. And that's just what I did. I helped myself right away to the buffet and had my bowl cooked. We had a choice of soup as we sat down.. We chose the egg soup but it was not very good at all. And the meal comes with this egg roll type paper and rice .. So the food was pretty good. It all depends on how you prepare it. I think up getting two more bowls after that. So yeah it was mighty tasty. There was hardly a soul besides the workers and my cousin and I. But we laughed our butts off & we weren't bothered much. The man at the front desk was incredibly kind and genuine. He made our visit that much better! U recommend coming here for a solid bite to eat! read more

Very clean and an authentic Mongolian grill. Good selection of thinly sliced meats and plenty of veggies. The sauces could improve though by including more variety prior to the grill. For example, teriyaki is available "after" grilling when it would be nice to have it grilled with it. Another suggestion would be more choice of fresh noodles. There were two rather limp looking bowls of cooked egg noodles with one being spinach flavor. Perhaps a rice noodle could be included. We will be back for sure, but I prefer Charlie Chows in Salt Lake. read more

Love this place but make sure you go when you're really hungry so you get your money's worth. The noodle bar is delicious. It's fun getting to choose what toppings and sauces you want in your dish and then watching it get cooked right in front of you. The noodles are great and it was so tasty. The only down side is that I only ate one plate of noodles with a side of rice and it was about $15. I should have eaten more. Go here though! You won't regret it!! read more

Been to many Mongolian Grills and Changs is one of the better ones. After your're seated by a hostess a server gets your drink orders and sides that you may want and then you can head to make your creation. There are tons of meats and toppings to choose from as well as lots of sauces. You also have a coupe of different noodles to choose from. Definitely something for everyone. Great friendly staff and they remind you to same some room for desert (ice cream). Be aware that there is tipping at the grill for the cooks (cash). They work hard so I always tend to tip. I haven't had Mongolian BBQ (both Hula's in Chico, CA and Genghis Khan's in So CA) in several years, so I was super excited at the prospect of Chang's. It brought back tons of college memories in Chico for sure. Anyway! I was happily surprised by the selection of meats/proteins, especially since I've never tried seafood in mine. But I stayed safe and got my typical pork. The medium oil/sauce combo was my jam and that's what I tried. It's too bad the cook didn't rotate the ingredients around on the grill either . :-( So, the egg drop soup and rice were a nice included touch. But the actual plate of food left a bit to be desired in the flavor category. This was even with plenty of garlic and some onion/bell pepper mixed in. It needed more of a soy or teriyaki type taste to it (I couldn't put my finger on it). I followed the sauce recipe they provided to a T. Dang! If only. Yesterday we stopped in to get some food to go and I know our experience would have been just as good and even better if we would have ate in. From the moment we walked in and walked out the customer service was some of the best we've experienced in quite some time. They weren't busy at all but I doubt that would have effected the gentlemen who helped us. I'm assuming this was the manager, I wish I knew his name, because he was so nice and explained everything to us. Because we were getting to go we got two bowls EACH. I was thinking wow two bowls each that's a ton of food and it was. But worth it! The amount of options they had was incredible. All the meats included pork, chicken, lamb, beef, and seafood included crab, shrimp, octopus and more. Their was all the usual vegetables and then some. They had a ton of different sauces to add on, I loved the minced garclic to add on. The meal was $15.95 a person. Not only was it two bowls each but it also came with soup rice (each) and then fortune cookies and so on. If we were dining it, it would have been $15.95 for all you could eat! And including ice cream. There's no way I could have ate ice cream at the end of it. But wow the amount of food and for that price, we will go back. Haven't had Mongolian grill since I moved here and this one was rated pretty highly so I gave it a visit. I went on a Tuesday evening at 5:30. There were only 2 or 3 other tables in use. Seated immediately I made my way to the food bar. They have a very large selection of things to put in your bowl. Chicken, beef, lamb, pork, and even salmon! In Northern Virginia the best I ever got was "fish". They also have shrimp and crab. You get white rice or little tortilla things whose name escapes me. Meals also come with soup if you want. Lots of different veggies including very nice and fresh looking cabbage, spinach, green beans (hadn't seen that before) as well as noodles, which I realize is not a veggie. It is important to note that they do not have pre-created sauces here to put in your bowl but instead have components. For example, you can add soy sauce, vinegar, garlic, salt water, sugar water, ginger water, sesame oil, hot oil, lime juice, oyster sauce, etc. Personally, I like a pre-made sauce to give my food more flavor. You would need to add a lot of the water-based components to get a vibrant flavor. That's not to say the food wasn't flavorful. It was very tasty, I went back 3 times :) I just like to have sauces to choose from in addition to ingredients. My bowls were cooked up quickly and by a friendly guy behind the counter. Lastly, if this sorta thing matters to you, regardless of what the Android Pay app says they don't take Android Pay. Definitely coming back again. read more

This is a fun place to go, especially for if you are out with friends or family who don't live near a place like this. I'm a big fan of Mongolian grills, and I wouldn't say this one is the best but there's definitely nothing wrong with it. If you have a problem with the food, guess what, that's your fault. The guys who are working the grill are really good at their job, and the ingredients are pretty fresh. If your food doesn't taste good then you didn't add the right things to your bowl. I didn't really nail it until around my third visit. And hey, if you did it wrong just forget that plate and do it again! You can have as many servings as you like. And then there is ice cream afterwards. And it's actually pretty good ice cream. read more

I have eaten here several times before, with no issues. Before today I would've rated this place a solid three stars. However, I ate lunch here a couple of hours ago with a friend, and I stopped eating because the tofu tasted rancid. I reported it immediately because I was concerned about people possibly getting sick; to my mind, the best solution would've been for someone from the kitchen to come out and at least test the tofu before deciding whether or not to remove and replace it. While I was there, this did not happen. Mind you, I reported this to three people. The first person I reported it to was the hostess, a younger girl with brown hair. Her response to my concern was, "Oh yeah, I totally feel you." Odd, and she did not indicate that she would report it. I went back to my table and watched to see if she would call someone or run back to the kitchen; she went right back to seating people as if I hadn't said anything. After a few minutes when my server, a young blonde woman, came by to take my plate and ask if I wanted any drinks or dessert, I told her that I was finished eating and explained why. She told me that she would let the kitchen know. To be fair, I don't know if she actually did or not. But I was there for an additional half an hour because my friend decided he wanted seconds--since he wasn't eating tofu, he wasn't worried about it. For the rest of the time I was there, I watched the buffet area earnestly, hoping I'd see someone come from the kitchen to check/replace the tofu. Again, this did not happen. Finally, as my friend and I were paying for our food on our way out, I reported my experience to the guy at the pay counter, an Asian guy wearing blue contacts. He thanked me for letting him and the others know, but with the same (in my eyes) lax, polite yet dismissive attitude of the hostess before him. I left feeling disappointed and concerned, but let it go, thinking I'd done all I can do. Now my friend has been doubled over, sick with diarrhea for the past hour. I am very angry (but thankfully, not ill!). Again, my friend did not eat any tofu; he did, however, have two plates of meat and veggies with the wheat noodles as well as dessert, so it could have been one of many things that were old, unclean or otherwise contaminated to cause the reaction. I have never had an experience like this at a restaurant before, and so I am unsure of what the proper channels are to take. But I wanted to let the Yelp community know and hopefully spare someone else from getting sick. I will also be researching who I should be reporting this to on an official city/county level tonight and will do so tomorrow. Diner beware. read more

I've been to 3 different changs restaurants and this one is by far mine and my family's favorite. Your food doesn't seem as 'watered down' and bland as the other two, in our opinion. We have been multiple times and it is always clean and the staff is very friendly. Our waitress today was very good at checking in and refilled our waters multiple times. I would recommend this location rather than the other ones. read more

I admit that I've always sort of turned my nose up at the thought of "Mongolian Grill" in the states. I had to ask myself why, and I guess it had something to do with the fact that there are very few Mongolian restaurants outside of the typical mall food court vendor. Thus I started to associate Mongolian grill with mall food... After eating at Chang's, I can now give Mongolian grill two thumbs up. Or at least this particular restaurant. You get to build your own meal and choose all the ingredients and seasonings/sauces.The meat selection is very good and fresh. I loved that they had tons of chopped jalapeños and whole dried red chilies. Plenty of cilantro and julienned green onions was also a plus. The vegetable selection is quite good; I just wish they had a few more Asian veggies (: All in all, I was extremely impressed by how delicious my meal tasted. The lunch price of $8.95 for AYCE also includes hot and sour or egg drop soup, rice paper I believe, and vanilla ice cream for dessert. Does it get any better than this?! This is the first and only super reasonably priced restaurant I've been to since moving to Portland and I will definitely be back. Service is also great! read more

This place is great because you get to play with your food, so to speak. There's a buffet of sorts where you grab a bowl (or two) and put veggies, meat, seafood, noodles (2 kinds and if you're not a noodle fan, they'll bring rice to your table) tofu, all kinds of items, then stop at the end to add cooking sherry, ginger, sugar water, soy sauce, oyster oil, and other flavoring selections to your bowl. Then you take the bowls of food to be cooked. If you have added enough cooking sauces to your bowl, no worries, they keep it moist. There's a circular griddle with enough room for 5 meals to be cooked simultaneously and the cook just makes a circle around the griddle until your food is cooked, then they put it on a plate and give it to you. You can put sesame seeds, red pepper flashes and various sauces on your food before heading back to the table. On your table is salt, pepper, soy sauce, and plum sauce, which I only seem to be able to get at Chang's. Yum. While there is table service, its limited because technically, it's a buffet. The veggies are fresh, so is the meat - well, it's frozen, but looks and tastes good and the fish items don't smell fishy. One gripe I have is that the onions weren't cut small enough so they went all over the place when I pulled some out. Same with the egg noodles. They're super long. Eh, small price to pay. As long as they keep things clean, I'm a happy camper. read more

My family loves Mongolian Barbecue and we always seek out a good restaurant wherever we happen to be living. I was therefore pleased to find Changs close to Target in Beaverton OR. After reviewing the buffet offering, it seemed that we'd found a "new favorite restaurant". I was therefore very disappointed that my daughter and I were shown to a an extremely small table in the center of a high-traffic area. I tried to explain that my daughter has some physical issues and we needed either a booth or a table safely out of the mainstream. The person directing us to the table apparently spoke no English and had no idea what we were trying to say ... and just kept pointing at the table. An English-speaking waitress intervened and pointed to an empty "half table" - literally half the size of the table originally offered - where we would have been banging arms with the people seated at the full-size table next to it. My daughter could not have been seated comfortably and the meal would not have been enjoyable. Despite apparently good food, I'm very disappointed and would not recommend to others. read more

When ever My wife and I go to a city that's new to us we search out a Mongolian BBQ. We tried one in Corvallis 2 days ago and today we tried another. Chang's was REALLY REALLY good. We went during their lunch, it was busy but the staff handled it with ease. Very efficient bowl building line with 2 sides of everything and gentleman cooking was a pro. Changs is a great place to build it YOUR way. They can accommodate a large group at a moment's notice! I took my team of ten and had no problem. This Beaverton-Hillsdale Hwy location is the BEST! Very clean and fantastic service. It's a little further from home than the other location (Cornell) but so worth it to have a clean place and better service. The employees are fantastic especially the cooks and Jason our server!
