Minion was helping me run errands around 2pm on Saturday. Meds etc. for our child. Minion: D'you want lunch? what do you want? I will buy. Me: (Names Favorite --'s) teriyaki chicken or ( favorite ----'s) Hawaiian? Minion: Hmm. Too salty. It is bad for us, we are old. Me: (Summarily whips out yelp). Smoked meat plates from a food truck? ( shows kahlua pork photo bc Minion likes kahlua pig). Minion: Ok. Me:( theyre gonna be salty too duh but) ok. This food truck is hidden off TV Highway in the back of Walgreens on the west side. Parking and access are fine. There are outdoor tables. Minion said the man was friendly. Lunch was about $28. Took them 10-15 min to get it ready on the grill so it's made to order. Nice. Half an hour later we were in Minion's air conditioned family room digging into lunch while streaming episode 1of One Piece ( um, not my thing). The food was good. There was surprisingly more rice buried under the proteins. It was a good amount of food. I liked the mac salad, as someone else noted it was grainy. It might have parmesan in it maybe? I have no idea if the " meat" was beef or pork or...?? But it was good. The chicken was delicious too. There was a cup of a sweet soy type sauce. And it was not too salty. I had a bite of Minion's kahlua pig and it was tender and smoky. Overall , it was a win! Give it a try. They were catering for Nectar's 4/20 event, allowing customers to get a free small platter. Needless to say, best free meal I've received in recent memory. The platter included half chicken half pork, rice, mac salad, and some sauce. Everything was absolutely delicious. Great flavor from everything, you can tell they use a killer marinade. Guys running the cart were also super cool, and hooked it up. Definitely give this place a try if you're over Roxy's or 808. read more

Update on 7/5/23 This time they got my order correctly which is a good thing. I finally got to try their spicy chicken. It was just okay. It was dark meat so it was tender but it lacks flavor and spiciness. The pork and smoke meat was good. The pork was probably my favorite. I only wish they gave me some sauce for the pork. It was kind of dry. But I do love the serving size! read more

I ran into Habu at my workplace. I had known him for numerous years prior to him starting Habu Smoke Cart. He told me about his new offerings, and I knew I needed to try it. I chose two different lunch plates. One with chicken and pork. The other one I tried the smoked meats. Spicy chicken, spicy pork and regular pork. The smoke meats are where it's at. Super flavorful and the "spicy" was the answer to most of my problems that particular day. So good. My wife took her left overs to work the next day and said that she thought it was actually even better on day 2? What??!!! How is that even possible. Ok, so great food. Great guy. I got the mixed plate with 3 meats: Kalua pork, chicken & smoked pork. Kalua pork is tender and juicy, chicken's well marinated and slightly charred to my liking. The smoked pork is so good; it's glazed, smoky and charred. Just all around awesome! read more

I smoke salmon and meat all the time for bbq's and Habu Smoke Cart has me beat! And the chicken? OMG! Flavor galore! I could eat his chicken until I turned into a chicken! Spicy chicken and spicy lilikoi smoked meat are delicious. Found this gem nearby my house and prefer them over Roxy's. My favorite truck in their little food cart pod. It's been nice to go on a walk with my dog or ride my bike over and be able to grab some lunch. Hope they get big enough that they can be open 7 days a week! read more

The kalua pig and spicy chicken were our fav. Da smoked meat and mac salad was okay. Smoked meat was extra tough, not like pipikaula back home. Mac salad was a little grainy and different than ur typical mixed plate style elbow mac salad. Will def go back for the kalua and spicy chicken tho...kalua was super wet, but had good flavor. This food is a joke to actual Hawaiian food. It's so sloppy, mushy and so bland. The spicy chicken was not spicy and lacked flavor. The pork was soaked in grease. There was nothing Smokey about these meats. The more bites I took to give it a chance, the more I felt grossed out. It made my stomach hurt so bad. 0/10 don't recommend. read more

Been dying to try this place and saw on Instagram that it was open today. Went straight after work and got 2 mixed plates. One with Lilikoi smoked meat and chicken, the other with Lilikoi smoked meat and kalua pig. They did not disappoint! All the food was sooo ono and tasty and the flavor was out of this world. The chicken was nice and charred just right! Even my picky granddaughter love the chicken. I will be back for sure! And the guy was nice enough to bring it to my car. read more

You've got to (correction)...MUST have HABU smoke meat, chicken, and kalua (shredded) pork. It will not disappoint. Perfectly smoked. Have it as a pupu (appetizer) or as a plate lunch or ask for a 2lb bag to take home and simply reheat or lightly pan fry to warm...you cannot go wrong.
