Best smoke meat and Korean chicken I ever had. Very generous portions. One plate is big enough for two meals. Highly recommended.

tldr: Crazy good Hawaiian comfort food from a trending food cart Discovering Habu's food cart was a complete spur of the moment: decided to grab lunch at a local food cart congregation and ended up finding one of my favorite local go-to spots for some meat and rice. The picture is pretty self explanatory already but all you gotta know is that the smoked meats are irresistible. Better watch out or you end up eating the loaded plate they serve you. Owner of the food cart is super easy to talk to and you can tell he cares about the food he serves. He wants you to simply have a great time and to leave stuffed and satisfied. Give them a try when you need some quick eats that's heavy enough to save another meal for later.

We came and tried the spicy chicken mixed plate and Kalua Pig mixed plate. The chicken was amazing. It was juicy and full of flavorful. We were greeted and Habu even walked the food over to us. Great food with amazing customer service. I will be back!

Been here 3 times... small menu but food is amazing. Sticks to what he does best!!! Best smoke chicken I have had in a long while. Asked chef if he had cabbage in his Kailua pork. He said no because he wanted to make sure there are no fillers and gives each customer a good amount of food!! Awesome little food cart you need to give him a try!!

Try out this Hawaiian smoke meat truck! Plenty of parking and clean area to sit and eat. Menu's small but the food is delicious. Owner is a cool bruddah from the 808, come support his truck and have a taste of paradise!

He even sells the smoked meat in 1lb bags! Grab them when you can!

I don't know what that 1 star review lady is talking about! This is some of the best smoked meat I've ever had in my life! I smoke salmon and meat all the time for bbq's and Habu Smoke Cart has me beat! And the chicken? OMG! Flavor galore! I could eat his chicken until I turned into a chicken! And the Kalua pork is really darn good! My wife asks just for that every time! Habu is also one of coolest guy's you'll ever know. Not only a "from the ground up" small business owner but a type of guy that'll give you his shirt right off his back! It's refreshing to do business with that type of person! Someone who is super passionate about his food and also passionate about being your friend at the same time! Go to Habu smoke cart! You will walk away with a smile on your face and a belly full of AMAZING..... 10 out of 10, 5 Stars, flavor packing and never lacking, juicy like Lucy, take my money honey, absolute best Hawaiian food! -Farmer

Ask the Community - Habu Smoke Cart

I've tried to eat here twice only to find it closed at odd times. Is there a way to confirm the hours?

They post at times on their Instagram account where they are at if away and hours for the food cart, but it is inconsistent. They also do a lot of company events, so it takes them away from the food cart. The food is really good, bummer you have… Read more

Well, after finally getting a chance to browse all the pods, I found Dad's chicken, but nothing was grillin'. So I came back here to Pares PDX Express instead. Checked out the side menu, checked out the prices, and out comes a brutha from anotha mutha! Welcomes me, so I asked my pare "What's good?" He said, "Everything!" smh, "Damn!" A good sign :(but not a good sign for me healthwise:) haha! I asked how long he's been open, and he said, "Since September." Still fresh and new to me, so my yelpie duty was to support my locals. Here's what I ordered: Drawn to the Crispy Kare-Kare ($15), this caught my eyes! (Optional read) Typically, the Filipino kare-kare meat used is with cuts of chuck steak and boney beef neck. Some like using pork hocks. Sometimes kare-kare will have beef tripe added. But personally for me, I love my mom's version using oxtail. I don't like the neck, I don't need tripe, it's gotta be OXTAIL!!! Besides, it's all about the stew and the saucy peanut buttery flavor. About Pares PDX kare-kare version... I saw "Crispy" and knew this was referring to either crispy pata or lechon kawali (aka deep fried pork belly with skin). They serve their kare-kare with crispy pork belly, bok choy, long string beans, and eggplant. The stew of peanut sauce was drizzled on top. With the home-made shrimp bagoong (fried shrimp paste) in between. I would have stayed outside on the patio tables, but it was going to rain. So I rushed home, and mmm mmm mmm the pieces were still nice and crispy indeed! I haven't had pork belly in so long that I was in heaven, not worrying if I needed to go to the hospital afterwards lol. You can have the dish with plain rice or garlic rice. I chose the garlic rice, which is almost a given. A bit of more information: ~ They've got a QR code to view the menu and/or place an order. ~ Majority or nearly all of the dishes were $15 average. ~ To feed your eyes, there are pics of the dishes on the side of the truck. ~ Service was pleasant and fast. Can't say I'll ever order what I can make myself, like adobo, sisig, pinoy style spaghetti, or lumpia, but I will definitely be back to try their version of pansit palabok, laing, dinuguan, and turon. I'll even try their "halo halo" next time! The Filipino authenticity, kinda like mom's style is here! Come check them out!

Multiple times now, I have placed an order, watched the status change to "Confirmed" and even "Preparing," only for the restaurant or their system to cancel the order abruptly after the Dasher is already assigned or on their way. This is not just a minor inconvenience; it completely wastes time and effort planning a meal. A major contributing factor is that they frequently forget to close and update their DoorDash channel, showing they are available for online ordering when they are not. It gives the false hope that the food is on its way, only to be cancelled last minute, forcing a scramble to find dinner/lunch elsewhere. The management needs to seriously address their online order process, communication with delivery platforms, and their kitchen capacity. If you cannot fulfill an order, it should be rejected immediately, not 30-40 minutes after confirmation. Until this issue is fixed, I cannot recommend ordering from here, especially for delivery. It's too unreliable to depend on.

I don't know if it's they type of potato but the skin was really off putting. But solid toothsome chips that a splash of vinegar helps a lot. I came after a review I read on Eater for FoPo area eats. I'm not a huge fried food fan but this place was good. I got the Steelhead trout fish and chips. Wait was ok they give you a buzzer so you can stroll around the food court. Took about 10 mins not bad. The locally sourced steelhead was a delicious surprise. Tender, juicy fish with crispy breading. Good seasoning. Fries were thicker so not as crispy but still hearty. 3 medium sized pieces of fish. They included ketchup for the fries as well as malt vinegar and tartar sauce for authentic fish dip. Wedge of lemon, too! All in a earth-friendly cardboard box. They take credit just fine. Very convenient location at Carts on Foster just down the street from where I was staying. So I walked back and enjoyed there. If you're staying you could probably cruise over to any local breweries or the bar cart for a beer to complement the fried food. Good time!!!
