I go to the changs a lot in Gresham, plus a few other Mongolian grills its one of my favorite things to eat. My husband and I went to the Chang's in Beaverton, it was the worse experience I have had... The restaurant was dirty, the beef was de-thawed (which I thought was weird, but ignored) I added all of my usual sauces. When I took my 1st bite I knew it didn't taste right... After my husband and I started talking we both discovered that it tasted blan, but then I took a bite of the beef and it tasted REALLY gaming... I gave my husband a bite and he said it just tasted blan... But then he took another bite and spit it out. It's was very sour.. I walked back over to the food to look at it and I got a strong odor, of bad meat... I didn't even eat hardly any of my lunch, I told the lady who took our plates and she said to tell the ppl at the check out... I did.. And they insisted that it was a fresh cut of meat and they made us pay anyway. We will not be going back!!!!! read more

Great selection of meats and veggies (prefer the dinner selection myself because they include shrimp and mushrooms but the lunch is cheaper). It's all you can eat and you mix the sauces and foods you want yourself! Definitely caution anyone with food allergies though because it is all cooked on the same surface and you often get a piece or two from your "neighbor"! Food is good and the service is great. I love the moo shu wrappers, or however the hell you spell that, and the plum sauce. However stay away from the rice. There is sticky rice, but it's sticky as in undercooked and sticking together in a lump and not yummmmm, sticky rice! The buffet has a good selection and is always well stocked. The frozen slices of chicken, which are labeled as 95% boneless, scare me. But they are in fact delicious. It's always a little dismaying though, to carefully mix and add my own sauces (1/2 a ladle of ginger, 1 ladle of soy, etc.), only to watch the cooks pour my food out onto the grill and ALL of my sauces run into the grill gutter thingy. Then they (liberally) add oil, cook it all up, and there you go. Just don't expect the sauces you select to make any difference, good or bad, in how the food tastes. Also, don't get too picky because you will end up with some of the food of the guy next to you in line. But it's all good, just shut up, eat up, and get back in line when you're done with that plate. read more

So I just want to say, amazing service from the servers they were amazing and on top of things! The food taste great and you get to season everything to your liking but the only thing that is a complaint is that when I was finding a bowl for my meal prep they were all dirty. There were like 5 different bowls I flipped through to find a clean one that didn't have meat or something old stick to it. My bf didn't care but I kinda did cause I didn't know how long some of that stuff was stuck on there. Other than that the chef was great and professional and I really enjoyed the meal and the staff! Oh the wait on a Friday night. For what????? I still cant figure it out. Went back for the first time in years and now I remember why I took it off my master list of places to eat. This place is awful. I remember putting chicken and beef in the mix, but couldn't tell the difference after it was cooked. Tasted like cheap stir fry bought from the frozen foods section at your local grocery store. I swear they got my order mixed up. Probably will never visit again. I've been coming here since I was a kid anytime I visited Portland. I just think its great because you can customize your dish from the type of meat, to any vegetable, and the flavor/sauce. I loved using the spicy oil at the end to make the whole dish spicy. You can also just not put any noodles in and just get a stir-fry and use the complementary wraps they provide and its like a little asian burrito! The service is always amazing and the food is delicious and satisfying. My only complaint is that they update the decor! Its a little old so yes, thats my only complaint. I have loved this place ever since I was a very young kid. When I was 4 Chang's used to be located in the now demolished Hillsboro Mall, right across from my daycare. I would go and because I was so small and refused to eat any on it, my parents would bring happy meals for me and my brother. The manager, Cam, would always laugh and thought it was funny. Soon after we had moved on to the shrimp and then the noodles and then onto a wide array of the food available. It's a great amount of food for a fairly low price. The food quality, as it is cooked in front of you, can vary a great deal from day to day and cook to cook. Sometimes it's extra lean and other times it's extra greasy. I love the flexibility of Mongolian grills and being able to choose whatever ingredients I'm in the mood for. I really like to include fried tofu in my creations, because it soaks up the sauces and tastes great, so I'm glad that Chang's offers it. You can't really complain about the flavors at a Mongolian grill, because for the most part, you're in charge of what ingredients and sauce go in your dish. What the restaurant has control over is the cooking, the quality of the ingredients, the selection of ingredients, the prices, and the service. The cooks here do a good job, the ingredients are good quality, the selection is good, the prices are very reasonable, and the service has always been good when I went. I try to go whenever I'm in the area. If you like Mongolian grills, Chang's is a great one, and you'll probably like it. If you don't like Mongolian grills, well, you probably won't like this one either. read more

I'm a big eyeroller. Being the off the charts cynic that I am, I tend to think people are full of... it. Exaggeration is hard to stay away from when you genuinely feel you've had a bad experience, I get it. So I ventured into Chang's II with my husband, excited at the prospect of having one so close to our house. Sadly, we were in for a disappointing experience. While the service was okay, the good stopped there. There's no crab, which was a negative. The salmon looked almost grey and sad. The interior itself had the unappetizing scent of cleanser, cheap laundry detergent, and the hairspray my grandmother used. The sauces were staggeringly bland. My secret formula I use everywhere with great results may as well have been water. Is it the worst I've ever had? No, but I think if that's the highest compliment you can give, there's a problem. If you like this place, go to the other Chang's on Beaverton Highway and you'll be blown away by how superior it is. read more

Stopped here for the first time late one evening, when the alleged "Buffet Hogs" that frequent the place were not around. Sketchiness aside it is possible to have a good meal here and not get sick. The staff could appear a little more friendly but it likely just a cultural thing (head down/working hard ect) and comes off as rude to the crowd that's used to hearing "Welcome to McDonald's" Must have some real "performance art" taking place here, probably worth the price of admission! read more

I love eating here, I try to come here at least once a week. Buffet style but the food is raw. First you pick your meats, they have beef, chicken etc even tofu. Then pick your noodles, veggies and add any sauces. Put it up on the counter and they will cook it on the grill for you. You can go back and get seconds or as many times as you want. The food is very tasty and if you don't like it, you can go back and get a different dish. The waiter/waitress can also bring you white rice, soup and/or pancakes and they are very nice and friendly! Very delicious, one of my favorite places to eat. All staff is very nice and friendly!!! And at the end of your meal, they even give you dessert. Delicious creamy ice cream, yum! The only thing that I have noticed is that the place could use a good cleaning and/or painting. read more

Can't really knock $7.95 for all you can eat lunch- this includes soup and ice cream. All drinks (besides water) are extra. I'm a sucker for buffets! ... and this place is kind of a pseudo buffet. Here's the catch. You put all the ingredients together and they sautee it in it's entirety on a flat surface. This includes all the flavoring ingredients. Who knew you could turn so many spices into liquid? OK- the typical soy sauce, oyster sauce, but then there's also - sugar water, lemon juice, hot oil, and a bunch more I can't recall. I'm amused. Party due to the attrocious outcome of my own concoction and its entertaining. Its much like going out with a group of friends who have nothing to talk about--keep your hands busy and it becomes a fun experience. Absolutely love this place. This place is the perfect place especially if you are a meat eater. They have all different kinds of meat ranging from chicken, beef, lamb, pork and fish. It's nice how you get to choose your own ingredients and recipe to make your own plate. I also love the pancakes that they give you, so you can wrap it up and eat it like a taco. They also have a wide range of sauces too that you can choose from. I wish they would have a little more selection when it comes to vegetables, but you can't go wrong with chow mein noodles. The lines can get kind of long especially if you go for dinner on Friday or Saturday night. I go here all the time when I visit Oregon. read more

Hands down, best meal ever! The meat is always fresh, the noodles are perfect (none of the soggy/mushy crap), and the option to create your own sauce combination gives this meal the perfect personal touch. Starting at the beginning, you're seated and offered rice and pancakes. If your server is busy, don't worry! They'll either put some on your table while your food is being prepared or wait to ask until you get back. They're very quick, so the second option isn't irritating. You can order your drink before or after getting your food as well. Once you're settled in at a table, you then go to the food bar. I usually grab two bowls instead of one so they don't overflow when I add sauces. My first bowl is usually then filled with small pieces of chicken (they cook faster) and topped off with noodles. My second bowl then gets filled with veggies. I love them all! Next comes the more complicated part: the sauce. If you're iffy about what sauces to add, do not fear! They have a first-timers guide posted above the bar to give you an idea of what to add. My favorite thing to do is add a TON (like 5-6 spoonfuls per bowl) of pineapple juice from the pineapple chunk pan (in the veggie section) to each bowl first. Then I begin with some soy sauce. Although it's a lot of sodium, a lot of it cooks out and my meal never tastes overly salty. I usually do about 3 scoops per bowl. Then onto the oils and whatnot. I like to use about a scoop and a half of both hot and sesame oil per bowl to give my food a little kick, but it's never too spicy. My favorite part is the garlic. The chunks are amazing but make sure you get some juice too so that it cooks in to your noodles. I usually do about 2 scoops per bowl, plus a scoop of ginger per bowl. By this point my bowl is usually pretty full and the liquid is close to overflowing. I add a bit of cooking cherry to make sure the juices cook out and I get a nice, non-oily plate of food (the soy sauce also helps get the oil out). Next up is the grill line. It can get pretty long so make sure you have a good grip on those bowls. I've watched too many people drop them and have to start over. Luckily, there's a fair amount of counter space to place bowls once you're close to the grill, plus the aisle is wide enough that the grill line doesn't get in the way of the food bar. Once it's your turn, the food will take about 7 minutes to cook, though sometimes less if there are less people (the grill gets hotter between people). There's a place to tip at the grill if you so desire. I usually leave a buck or two. Once you're back at your table, you'll likely have to wait a few minutes for your food to cool. Then, eat your heart out! If you want more, go back for seconds or thirds even! But make sure to save room for the best soft serve ever! :) On top of being a fun, make-your-own-meal restaurant, it also has an amazing staff. It's a little embarrassing to admit that my husband and I go there so much that everyone recognizes us (they even know what drinks we order and don't have to ask), but it also makes me feel good that the staff is so attentive and friendly. One more note I feel is important to add is that Chang's is exceptionally clean! I am always impressed. read more

While this place is not much to look at from the outside or the inside it is very good food. In this place you get a bowl and fill it with what you want them to stirfry. They have a very wide selection of meats and seafood and an okay selection of vegetables. They you add your sauces and give the bowl for them to cook. The service is pretty good. The wait staff is friendly and comes around enough for you to get what you need but not enough to bother you. Tip: read the sauce recipes above the sauces and try those first before you start experimenting. The recipes are very good and a good place to start making your own suace recipe from. Also: Do not expect to take home extras and be careful of filling up your plate more than you can eat. If you waste a bunch of food then you will get charged extra. It was disappointing. I actually have had better mongolian grill in Nebraska. Nebraska! jesuschristonastick! They mumble greet you and show you to a table, ask you if you want what kind of soup and what drink. That in itself was weird to me, usually, when I go to a mongolian grill, they have different kinds of soup in another buffet line. Along with chinese doughnuts, and other asian food stuff. No, they do not have it here. The only mongolian grill that doesn't include any other buffet table but the noodle table itself. I ordered the egg drop soup and it is bland. The mongolian grill buffet was on the small picking size. They did not have quail eggs, nor shrimp. They did have the obligatory beef,pork, chicken, lamb, and turkey frozen slices. Onions, spring rolls, carrots, and other veggies. The sauces and seasonings are at the end. The cooks in the commercial was fun, the cooks in the actual restaurant was sad. There were three of them, and they were'nt even using those over-size chopsticks that the other regular mongolian grills, oh, by the way, the servers were asian and the cooks were not. So you get the chinese style service (meaning, barely service at all, kind of-you-pay-now! type) but non-asian cooks, meaning, the asian flavor isn't there. I'm sorry, I'm not an asian snob, but being asian- american, I expect some asian flavor with polite, better service than this for the price that I paid. About $9 a plate, yes, it's a buffet which means all you can eat, but honestly, I didn't really think it was worth it. You can be full of bland food. yay! more like yuck. read more

LOVE THIS PLACE!!! There is not much more i can say about it!! I love all the sauces and assorment of fresh veggies and meats! I wish there was one in Las Vegas!! Oh well its a treat going home and heading to Chang's!!! Yea the lines are long to get your food made but if you time it right you wont have to wait that long... I wouldn't suggest you going if you are STARVING at the moment since you may have to wait awhile... I'm generally unimpressed by build-your-own-noodle joints, and Mongolian Grill is no exception to that rule. My major issue with this place is that there's just no good reason to eat here, as there are better authentic Chinese food options in the area. We must go at least 2 times a month if not more, most of the staff know who we are as soon as we step inside. Been living in the Beaverton/Hillsboro area for 13 years and always wanted to try this place. Finally did on 10/20/13 This is a mongolian Grill. Its a buffet type of place where you choose your RAW food, what kind and how much of it and give it to the cooks and they cook it in front of you. While there isn't any seating in front of the grills, you do get to stand and watch them cook it and of course leave a voluntary tip if you choose to do so. You can go back as many times as you want so theres no need to get huge helpings the first time around. as others said. you walk in and are seated, once the server gets your drinks and rice order you can go and get the food. When you get the meat, make sure you get a lot as it will disappear when they cook it. From there get your veggies and other toppings and then your sauce Then hand it to the cooks and watch them cook it for you. Once done you can leave a voluntary tip and add additional seasoning/sauce and then head to your table and enjoy your meal. Dinner is a bit on the expensive side. $13.95 compared to lunch thats only $8.95. Sodas are $1.95 with free refills. If you go on a busy night be ready to wait in the cook line. My suggestion. Go for a late lunch/early dinner. 1:30-3:30pm. Pay lunch prices and still get a decent meal. read more

I am not a fan of places like this for the most part. My husband loves them so I came here with him. I don't like the meat is all just sitting out in the open and the other fixing things too. I know it all gets cooked later anyway but it still kind of freaks me out. I got beef and noodles and zucchini and mushrooms with garlic sauce and it was good. My husband loved his and my daughter even ate some noodles. I will only come here with my husband when he wants it and I can say I can eat something and leave with a full stomach. read more
