Hubby and I were in the mood for Chinese takeout. We didn't feel like driving too far so we ended up ordering Chan's Chinese. I called in our order and we picked it up in less than 20 minutes. We ordered krab rangoons, General Tso's chicken with pork fried rice and honey chicken with chicken lo mein. The krab rangoons were pretty good but nothing too special. We both wanted them to be sweeter. They were better dipped in the sweet and sour sauce. Hubby's favorite is General Tso's chicken which was decent but we've had way better. Pork fried rice was just okay, needed soy sauce. The honey chicken was more like corn syrup chicken, I wasn't a huge fan. It tasted very artificial. The lo mein was bland and light on the veggies. We got take out from here and got three different dishes, egg rolls and spring rolls. I got shrimp and chicken with lo mein noodles. The shrimp were a good size but the small strips of chicken was just ok, had a decent sauce, carrots and nice pieces of broccoli. I did not care for the noodles. We also got chicken with fried rice. There was the same sauce on that dish and the same vegetables. The fried rice was better than the noodles. The third order was noodles with shrimp. The shrimp in this dish were very small and the noodles were the same as mine. The egg roll was just ok. The spring roll was a little better. The order was done via internet and was ready when we went to pick it up. There were no napkins given. Just a few packets of soy sauce and 2 packets of sauce for the 5 egg rolls and spring rolls. My family says this is the best Chinese they have found in the northside so far, but I just can't give it more than a 3. I didn't go in so can't comment on the decor or cleanliness. read more

The food is good. Today, I got the shrimp foo young, white rice, egg rolls, and sweet tea. You cannot eat in the restaurant after Covid (only carry out). However the restaurant is always clean, smells good, and they get your order right every time. Service is fast and accurate. I suggest calling in your order before going unless you like waiting for your food to be cooked. We phoned our order in from the car. It was crowded so we didn't go in, we waited 10 minutes and our order was ready. They are closed to in-house dining, And only open for takeout orders. The food was hot & is usually good, this lunch date was a usual egg foo young for me, gravy on the side & sweet & sour pork, for my friend. The pork was a little tough. Sauce on the side was good. A very typical American Chinese restaurant. I stopped by on my way heading north on I95 when lunchtime hit and I was craving rice. Saw the reviews on Yelp that this is pretty decent place. When I got in, it took a little while to be seated. Then, it took a long time before my server acknowledged me. I think the server was overworked as he handled way too many tables. The menu was pretty extensive. However, they have a good lunch special menu. I ordered the shrimp and vegetables. The shrimp I got was pretty good sized and fresh. I was given quite a few shrimp. Good value especially since my lunch includes egg roll as well. Authentic Chinese food? They are not but it was enough to satisfy my rice craving. read more

I've been here in Jax for 4 years and I was looking for a good spot for Chinese food and I think I finally found it. All I really want is shrimp fried rice and a few egg rolls. This place got it right. The meal was just as I like it, brown rice, plenty of nice sized shrimp and egg rolls with more than one piece of shrimp in them. All that to say if you find a good spot and you notice that locating it was tricking - UPDATE the business info please! :-) New location, but the owners have been around for some time. The traditional Americanized Chinese food that you can normally find anywhere. But they do it better than most. Nice sized dining area but most people, like myself, call in or walk in for the take out. Good food - it might look like diet eating but they carry a brown rice option. And they stuff enough food on the plate that you can get two full meals and a snack out of the heavy portions. Friendly attentive staff and decent prices. They share the space with a DD & Papa Murphy. I usually get take-out, but I do enjoy the friendly smile of Mike's. Chain's has the best Chinese food in Jacksonville in my opinion. I always get the shrimp fried rice for my self but have tasted other dishes my husband has ordered and everything was great. The parking lot is very small for 3 eateries. The dining room is still closed due to COVID-19 but you can go inside and place your order. Food is always fresh and done within 10 minutes. It is always extremely busy but service has always been fast. They sell party platters so it is a great option for a party. I have never been disappointed. I was very impressed about the positive reviews for this restaurant. So, I decided to give this place a try. When I walked in, I immediately looked at the take-out menu. The menu was very long, but it was easy to read and understand. The cashier was nice and he helped me decided my order. I ordered the orange chicken with egg fried rice for their lunch special. The service was fast and quick; I only waited for about 3 mins. To be honest, I wasn't very impressed of the food. The chicken was flavorful, but the fried rice was kind of dried. Although the food wasn't greasy or oily, it is much similar to the typical Chinese food. The quality wasn't that great, but not bad either. This place can be improved. I crossed my fingers after reading the reviews here and google and hoped for the best. I ordered two different entrees: General Tso Chicken and Pepper Steak w/ Onions along w/ a extra egg roll. Positive : the portion size of protein is average.. heavy on the rice.. small on the veggies. . if i had to i'd order the General Tso Chicken again. Negative: I trashed the Pepper Steak.. it was Gummy. I'm not even a stickler for textures but immediately spit it out. I don't even know how to describe it except finely minced meat but jelly like texture. I tried another piece in the plate and same exact thing. This is my go to for America Chinese takeout. The food is better than most Chinese takeout. The food is always the same (very good and consistent). The service has always been great, very nice and friendly! I would say I order at least twice a month. If they had a secret menu with authentic Chinese food I would give 5 stars. This used to be my favorite Chinese,!I was so excited to pick up Chinese for New Year's Eve! I ordered shrimp low mane, orange chicken and crab ragoons! The shrimp low mane was an oily tasteless mess with two tiny shrimp. The orange chicken was hard tasteless and the egg rolls tasted like they came from the dollar store 5 years ago. I never got the crab ragoons, so I can't tell you about that! I had two bites and through everything out! I am so disappointed and angry for wasting money on bad food! Good food HORRIBLE service. I ordered by phone, no one asked for my name. She said order ready in 10'. I get there and see my order made and sitting there but under another name. I explain that seems to be my order and that I wasn't asked for a name, they argue that it's someone else's and that mine is cooking. Then 20' later the food is sitting there and so am I. We finally get around to that's probably my food. By now the food is cold. I ask if she can at least warm it up but she starts arguing again that it's still warm bcz it just came out. I remind her that we've been back and forth over it for more than 20 mins now how can it not be cold?!? But she continues to argue and argue with me. I finally pay because by now I'm very late, I used up my WHOLE lunch break on this. A lady who was also waiting on a large order witnessed the whole exchange tells her that at least I should get the food free because I explained from the beginning and they made me wait for it excessively just to end up it being my order after all but the cashier doesn't agree, she made me waste 30 mins and she doesn't think she did anything wrong. I can't even eat this for lunch anymore because I don't have time. So be aware if they mess up they won't lift a finger to make it right :( read more
