When my family moved here, I actually took the time to call the 10 nearest Chinese takeout restaurants as well as Chinese dine restaurants to determine who lived up to this qualification. While trying to drag does! It is a classic no-frills business plaza restaurant designed for takeout. But their food is fresh and of good quality. They are warm and welcoming, and answered my, " does your fried rice have bean sprouts? " question without a confused stare or eye roll. The best Chinese food in Jacksonville! My favorite is the general chicken it's the perfect amount of spice and sweet!

I was so disappointed with the sweet and sour chicken. The actual chicken pieces (beneath the breading) were SO very small. Only one or two of the entire pint were even 1" long and not very wide either. The breading makes them look large, but look underneath for reality. I had the same problem at Min Garden the Chinese restaurant down Baymeadows Rd. I guess I'll stick with China Wok a little further down Baymeadows Rd. Their chicken pieces are much larger. I also wasn't able to choose the kind of rice I wanted when ordering online so had to order separate vegetable fried rice and was given white rice w my entree, which I did not want. read more

So I went off Yelp reviews for a Chinese Restaurant for the quick over the phone order and I am so glad I did There is no fancy decor on the walls, 2 -3 tables in the dining area and a fan that blows cool air. I always say and love "hole in the wall" places, and I am not down talking this establishment, but these restaurants typically put out the best food and this store proved my theory correct. I ordered the House Special Egg Foo Young and so glad I did off the dinner menu. The course was enough for 3 regular serving and every bite back a delay, powerful punch of flavor and delight. The menu is nicely priced. The employees where inviting and friendly. I had ordered my food and it was piping hot. I got it to go and after 30 minute ride is was surprisingly warm enough to plate and eat, no microwave need. 5 stars for a very pleasant experience and I can't wait to go back and try another entree. Being from Saint Louis my expectations for Chinese food is pretty high. But we found this place and it's down the street from my house. Do not miss this spot. If you're looking for classic Chinese takeout this is the spot. Everything was so good! The rangoons, spring rolls, soup! Now I understand it's broccoli and steak but there is no steak in this dish. Then let's move on to sesame chicken not sure if this is chicken either. But that's OK cause that's what you come to expect at Chinese restaurants. Absolutely no flavor. not even attempting to cook. Once again I understand not what I expect from a Chinese restaurant I only wanted the wonton soup. Egg rolls are very thin and have no ingredients inside. I am very disappointed in the food quality the taste. all of this cost $57. we ordered it to go to save money and go pick it up. We got that received it paid and left. When we got home we noticed that the fried biscuits were not in there I told her seven dollars. we call and complained and said that we were missing an item they said they had to re-search and check for the receipt. It took almost 45 minutes to an hour for them to call us back. Then they acted like they didn't care and just come back and pick it up. Well I'm not sure if you understand that we passed three other Chinese restaurants to get to yours because we've never tried your cuisine. I will not be returning. If I could eat Chinese takeout for every meal I would. I'm not playing around, there's something about it that appeals to all my senses, seemingly around all hours of each passing day. If we were all in a stadium I would be the one to start the MSG chant. Shout out to my boy Luis D. because I specifically came here off his review alone. Aren't Elite Yelpers the best? Now, when I mosied into China Dragon and saw the classic faded photos of Chinese dishes on the menu board, I knew I was in for a treat. Reading the menu, I discovered the phrase, "New York Style," slapped on the takeout menu. Intrigued moreso than I originally was, I placed our order. $20 for two entrees and a spring roll app, yes please! The drive home was absolute torture. The smells overpowered my weak, senseless mindset. Once in the house, it became evident that I might see a higher power upon this meal. Call me crazy, but the fried rice trumps all other Chinese takeout spots I've encountered in Jax - not all, yet many. Not everyone is going to understand my opinion. This is some of the best Chinese food in Jacksonville from my small sample over the past few years. All the service is pick up and I think they prepare your order when you arrive and pay. That way the food is piping hot and stayed that way for the 20 minutes from their place to ours. We ordered a lot of food and, except for one small order of egg rolls being let out the entire order was accurate. The food was tasty and well seasoned. I lived in Asia for a couple of years and I would eat the best fried rice everyday for lunch outside of my job for 1 dollar. While not as cheap, the fried chicken rice is very good here. Add an egg roll and a main entree for about 8 bucks makes this place a good value. The service was very good. The woman who helped me was very nice and gave me some options since I try to not eat pork. A lot of the time when you go to a Chinese restaurant the staff is rude or indifferent, but this place stood out for a nice atmosphere. You can buy some soft drinks here and seating is limited to about 3-4 tables, but if you stop in and take home it is perfect. I will be back! read more

We have lived in Jax for over a year (from the Midwest) and had almost given up on finding a good Chinese take-out establishment. Review after review on other places were all over the place. We passed the Baymeadows location on Friday, read the reviews and decided to try it out on Sunday. I just finished eating and THANKFULLY we have found our place to go; China Dragon! Although we live on the Southside, that location opens at 4 so we drove to University and were very happy. The food is fresh, the shrimp fried rice was excellent as was the sweet and sour chicken, pork egg rolls, general tso chicken and fried shrimp. Too bad we are going on a cleanse tomorrow. read more

Another update. Still coming here for our regular weekly chinese. The staff now recognizes our voice when we call in our order ahead, and we can get our soup, etc. customized (hubby hates tofu). Good portion sizes. Fried items hot and crispy. If I have a complaint, it is that 90% of the time the "crunchy noodles" are stale and I have to toss them in my toaster oven for a couple of minutes before serving. read more

I never thought I would find a better place then my usual spot but I did. I ordered the sweet and sour chicken combo (pork fried rice and egg roll included) a sesame chicken combo, fried dumplings and fried cheese wontons. The chicken on both these meals was fresh the pork fried rice tasted just like the Chinese cuisine I get back home in Chicago! The dumplings were delicious and the cheese wontons were amazing as it had a bit of that sweet cheese twist to it.
