Food was terrible and I found plastic in my Bourbon Chicken. I will never go there again.

If you're looking for good Chinese takeout on the Westside, this is one of the spots. Sure there are other good ones but today I'm talking about Jun's Kitchen. I heard about them when they were in another plaza but never really tried them until they moved and have frequented them every now and then. I called in and got the Bourbon Chicken dinner combination tonight and instead of rice I substituted or shall I say upgraded it to a veggie lo mein. The total was $18 and some change just for that and an egg roll. I've heard people say their food is pricey but I'll pay the premium especially since the food is always good plus the veggies and meats always seem fresh and not frozen or questionable like other joints. We've had their food twice now, and it's the best local takeout Chinese food I've had. I really like their chicken and broccoli and all of their soups. My husband really likes their orange chicken. The crunchy noodles for soup have never been stale. Nearby Chinese food takeout in comparison: Green lake food is good but not quite as good. Red lantern (previously Silver Star) is inconsistent and hasn't been as good the last few times. The hot and sour soup has been amazing at times, but sometimes it's just ok. The egg drop soup was so salty we all agreed it was inedible. The crunchy noodles at times were stale. We've always liked their stuffed eggplant and they're the only ones out of the three that offer it. read more

We walked in and placed an order. Lady that handled our order was very pleasant. We ordered a fried rice, a lo mein, and a chicken dish. Food arrived very quickly and we enjoyed it. The General's chicken was the best of the three. The sauce was delicious. read more

Jun's is a simple Chinese joint specialized in takeout. The owner is very friendly and the place is extremely clean. I felt like something different and went for an old standby; sweet & sour chicken. The chicken was juicy straps of white meat encased in a shatteringly crisp batter that is nicely seasoned and not greasy. The same for the egg roll, which was perfectly cooked. And while the fried rice was fairly generic, everything was prepared with care and presented nicely on the tray. All in, a very good value. I will repeat and next time will be more adventurous in my selection. read more

For Asian food this restaurant is tops. Have tried many on Westside & Juns is ABSOLUTELY the best for all Asian food types. My personal fave is Dragon & Phoenix. Only complaint if any is alot of labeled spicy items aren't spicy enough. Fix is to ask for extra spicy, lol. Have had about everything on menu with all being very flavorful. Portions are good size & always get at least 2 meals out of a dinner. Juns egg rolls are another favorite along with any of the fried rice. All of battered items are fried perfect, non greasy/oily. Chicken items are flavorful, decent sized pieces. Which is same for all, pork, beef & again, my favorite, the SHRIMP. Please tell your supplier you want extra, extra jumbo, lol. All interactions with staff have been positive. Just watching you can tell everything is a team effort. Also very friendly & genuine. Although seating area is very small, the whole os the area is very clean & pleasant. However I think a few more wall hangings would be nice. Wowwww Yelpers, Im back and this time with a little hidden gem! I searched my fellow Yelpers for help in finding chinese food since my go to places have not been as good as they used to be. Well all I can say is Thank you!! Jun's Kitchen has taken new ownership over the previous establishment. If you are on the westside this is a must! Im not big on chicken but let me tell you I did major damage here! Fresh full of flavor reminded me of chinese takeout from back home! READ BEFORE YOU GO!! I was craving Chinese food tonight and my go to restaurant (Golden China) was closed, so after carefully reading reviews I landed on this place based off the reviews. People's review claims that... "The best Chinese food in Jax" and "I'm from NY with high expectations and this spot feels like home". I'm not sure if they were given free food or paid to write their reviews because they are so far from the truth. I order chicken and broccoli with a side of white rice. When I asked for crab rangoon's the employee looked at me confused and said do you mean cheese wontons?? The chicken and broccoli was absolutely tasteless and watery. It practically tastes like a meal they would give you at the hospital post surgery. The only reason I'm giving them a start is because of the "cheese wontons" which are a $1 a piece and they provide you a tablespoon of dipping sauce on the side. The portions are a crime for the prices. They don't even provide you plastic silverware or napkins with your meal....If you want to waste your money on some food that will put you on the toilet then this is the spot for you. read more

Are they paying for good reviews?? This is insane. I went here because of the reviews saying "best Chinese food in Jax" and "it's good each time".. now, the food is passable but DEFINITELY not the best. It's so over priced for what you get in return, this is a large people. I got chicken lo mein and the chicken tastes like it was boiled in water with tasteless broth. The crab ragoons aren't even called that, feels baked in the oven not fried and $1 each, which should already set off alarm bells. Listen.. if you are white and not accustomed to flavored food / pepper is too spicy then go here. They are very nice and friendly although clearly cheap in every aspect they can be which effects the quality of meal. If you are black, Hispanic or middle eastern GO TO GOLDEN CHINA! The crab rangoons are actually Fried w/ 3 times as much sauce on the side but most importantly the portion is huge for a large for same price. You will have left overs & they'll actually cook your food adding the left over savory sauce in the pan onto your food so it for added flavor. Golden China is TRULY the most delicious, savory, best bang for your buck Chinese food I've had in Jacksonville so far. Owners, Do better please. This is a Chinese take out that recently changed ownership and has been renamed from NY Kitchen to Jun's Kitchen. The menu is pretty typical of American Chinese take out, but Jun's Kitchen also have different flavors of fried chicken wings. So far I've had the regular fried chicken wings and the Chinese style chicken wings. The big difference is regular fried has a very crispy coating and the Chinese style does not. Both styles were delicious and perfectly cooked. The fried rice is ok and like other places, may need some sriracha or soy sauce to boost the flavor. When picking up, there is a table at the entrance for GrubHub and UberEats orders if you are ordering through one of these platforms for delivery - Jun's right now does not offer delivery and it is take out only. There are tables for dining in, but due to the pandemic it is not offered right now. Service is friendly and pretty quick; if you go in to place your order, it's usually ready in as little as 10 minutes. There is a little dish with complimentary Asian candy at the register that you can help your self to, as well as a table with the sauces, napkins, straws and utensils to grab when you get your order. This was a mixed experience. Tried to order on the phone and hung up on/disconnected. Ordered online. When I picked up the order I discussed it with the lady at the front. I didn't understand her response. But she was kind. My mother in law got orange chicken with fried rice, she loved it. My husband got seasame chicken with no rice, and I got house lo mein and beef and mushrooms. We also ordered "crab Rangoon" and I'm not sure what we got but it was not crab Rangoon but it was good. Thanksgiving Eve Dinner. We alway do Chinese the night before Thanksgiving and we have been looking for a new place as our go to closed. We went to Jun's on a whim and it did not disappoint! We came her when it was NY Kitchen all the time. So to be fair, we came back once new owners took over. I got food for myself and my mom. Pretty much a very similar menu with a few changes. I got my mom a Hot and Sour soup, House Lo Mein and some Crab Rangoon. I got the Hot Honey Chinese style wings and fried rice for myself. My mom said the soup was a little too sweet but overall okay. She was happy with the lo mein as well. The crab Rangoon is also sweet but mostly, that's how they are usually with only rarely finding savory ones. The Hot Honey wings were good and the chicken sizes were well worth the price. Nice and crispy with plenty of sauce. Also a bit too much on the sweet side with everything else being sweet it was a little much. I blame the choices we made for a huge factor there. In the future, I would get sauce on the side for my wings. The fried rice was actually pretty darn good and not like the hard, crunchy yellow version that plagues a lot of spots in town. Certainly would come back to try other dishes because that Seafood platter looks amazing. read more
