We've lived in Woodinville for almost a decade now and I'm shocked we did not discover this gem until recently. Chans Place is hands down delicious and has quickly become our go-to family dinner spot. We've only dined in the restaurant (I've heard mixed opinions on the take out) and while we have our standard appetizer order of Firecracker Shrimp and the Cream Cheese wontons, we always mix up the plates. My favorite plate so far is the Hong Kong style pan fried noodles with chicken - it's is delicious. We also love the Pad Thai, lemon chicken, and the chow mein. We always order with chicken, which they cook perfectly. We've discovered that two appetizers and two plates is the perfect amount of food for our family of four. Worth noting - the firecracker shrimp is the stuff dreams are made of. It's the best I've ever had, anywhere. I reccomend planning ahead on weekends as it can get busy. Weeknights you can be seated no problem. Highly recommend! read more

Just my absolute favorite Chinese restaurant. I eat here anytime I visit Seattle but also frequently visited for 2 decades when I lived in Woodinville area. The staff is friendly. 2 beautiful fish tanks, waterfall water feature, and just the vibe of a Chinese restaurant. Clean, quick service, and priced well. My fave server is still there. The Chan family is welcoming. I order off menu, something that hasn't been on menu for over 10 years, and that's ok. They know what it is and cook it no questions asked. Everything is fantastic. I accidentally found this place while at Ross looking for a lamp. The outside is absolutely fantastic it was very nostalgic to me, I knew I had to go inside. On my way in I'm hoping that they have Hong Kong style noodles (pan fried noodles), it's my favorite Chinese/Hong Kong dish. Not only do they have them it's marked super prominently on their menu. Chan is the man. So I get the noodles to go which isn't ideal but I need to get home. They package them perfectly to go with the noodles in the full box and the sauce and everything else in its own container. Nothing is worse than getting Hong Kong style noodles to go and having them all soggy when you get home. The decor and layout inside is beautiful I would definitely bring a date or family here. The service was great. Someone (who I presume and hope) was Chan came out to deliver the bag he must have known this dish was the bomb and hand delivered it. The shrimp and vegetables inside were quite large and delicious. They did not skimp on the portion. The chicken chunks were quite large as well and the sauce was tasty. The pork was the only thing that needed some work but I'll take it. I'll definitely be back for HK noodles again it's an amazing dish. read more

Soup comes out hot and fresh, food is nicely displayed and good. The location is very convenient for those in the area, though the interior is dated... it's clean and tidy. The visit was not very good. The food today was not as good as it had been in the past times I had visited. Lots of seniors love this place for the food, specials and a good place to meet up with friends and talk. I was here for the lunch specials. Service was fairly good along with a cozy atmosphere and ambiance. There is a fish tank and so many people like sitting by this. I liked the cozy off to the side seats. They also have a few along the side and up a step for a higher view. Servers are friendly. Food portions: They give you enough food to share or take with you. I did not complete the meal. Today I ordered L17 which is the chicken chow main and 3 prawns. Chicken- not a fan on the taste, texture, seasoning or how it was prepared (I didn't finish eating this chicken- 1/8 piece of a strip was enough) the chow main noodles reminded me of spaghetti noodles today. Sauce very salty. They had lots of celery added. The prawns had so much coating on them and they were hard and not enjoyable. This was very disappointing today. The soup I ordered was egg flower/ egg drop ( soup is a part of the special choices egg drop, hot and spicy or won ton). You also have a choice of rice, white brown or fried). I chose brown it was ok. They don't tell you but if you order fried rice there's an additional charge. The temperature of the food was hot except the prawns - you can tell they had been prepared earlier and added to the plate. They had a sauce red which was not good at all. Not recommended. Pictures included. Overall today's lunch was a 2/5 because of the food not being cooked or prepared very well. Not very appetizing today. I've eaten here a few times and also gotten take out food. Overall, experience has been good and I would definitely recommend them based on the bang for the buck. I recommend ordering their combo meals. There's an option to order the single or family combo. The combos comes with multiple entrees and bbq fried rice. For my take out order, I opted for the single combo No. 2 Son. This selection included wonton soup or sweet and sour soup, bbq pork fried rice, sweet & sour chicken, deep fried prawns, and chicken chow mein. I also ordered mongolian beef in addition to the combo. Service was fast and food was securely packaged. The food is standard and generous portions. Their mongolian beef was tasty and I was able to ask for a spicier version. The hot and sour sour came in a huge container and could easily serve 3 people. The soup was rather light in flavor. The bbq pork fried rice as a little bland and dry. The chow mein and sweet and sour prawns were my favorite. I've also had their honey walnut prawns and they are worth ordering. For dine in experience, I also recommend at least trying it once. Interior is beautifully decorated and there large booth perfect for family dining. They do have a bar and a list of cocktails. We've been going to Chan's for 15 years. The food has always been superb. Tonight we had company in town and decided to take them there for dinner. Not sure what happened but it's not the same. Something was "off". First of all, the King County food inspector sign in the door just said Okay. Yikes. It's always been Good or Excellent. We ordered the cashew chicken, it was bland with no flavor at all, chicken was tough. The Mu Shoo Pork was better but still not the usual flavors. The egg rolls were so over fried you couldn't taste the shrimp. Only good thing was the service, very nice staff. Fire the chef they are missing the mark. read more

We typically visit Chan's and sit in the bar. This time we had a family group and were seated in the dining room. Most chose the family style meal, I opted for the vegetable curry and soup. The hot and sour soup was spicy and good. The curry was filled with vegetables but did not have the flavor I expected. Probably my taste buds and not the fault of the dish. Chan's place deserves to be a local family favorite. Why? It's reliable, traditional, comfort-food style American Chinese food. The only downside is that there are no substitutions allowed, so I recommend getting there with a plan to scan the whole menu and find something that fits your needs. However, I assume the no-substitutions policy allows for faster service. The first time we came -- we chose the chefs combo special and it was a great way to try some favorites. The tea is delicious and the staff has always been kind. The vibes is nice, clean, and has water fountains that I find relaxing. I believe this place looks better in the evening. We came for lunch. Parking was packed even when it's in a mall. When we entered, we felt as if this place was nicer than others. We were seated. The place seemed just fine. The vibe was peaceful over all. All the party noticed it. They were playing nice Christmas music. Was middle aged were not their main target. Restrooms were a bit dirty. Then food came over. It was decent. I have never seen red fried rice...general chicken was a bit hard. I stated zero spicy to food. Kid ended crying. Server told me "that spices came like that, but it wasn't that spicy". I can understand the first part, but 6o tell me what is spicy or not when it is all about perception and that is why I stated Zero, makes me wonder if they even care. But don't get me wrong. I was super excited to go and try this place because it's hard to find American Chinese in this area. And once you do, either they don't get great reviews or they get great reviews but their health score is terrible. I looked at the health score which was good. The range is "needs to improve", OK, Good, and Excellent. It allows you to see what the violations were. A very modest exterior belies a nicely decorated and clean dining area. I'm Chinese. I will not say this is the most authentic Chinese food restaurant. For most though, this is the American Chinese food that we have all grown up with and loved as comfort food. Which is probably why it is almost always busy. If you want some easily accessible Chinese food that's a few notches above Panda Express, many of the reliable go to places on the Eastside like Cafe Ori had closed in the past few years. Chan's kind of the last one standing. The hot and sour soup was a little disappointing. Very thin, just salty. Garlic wings were fresh, hot, crispy and garlicky. 2 thumbs up! Hubby grew up in Midwest so getting his favorite sesame beef that actually has beef and is crispy made him very happy. Our party of 9 adults, 5 kids, and an infant were seated within moments when we walked in for a late lunch. Color me impressed! Service was quick, good came out even quicker, hot and fresh! Prices were incredibly reasonable, and drinks were available from the full bar. The pupu platter appetizer on fire was excellent and entertaining - fried spring rolls, char siu pork, teriyaki beef sticks, won ton, shrimp tempura... YUMMM!!! That in itself could've been a meal, but also perfect for sharing. The space was decorated for the season, and the aquarium was a hit with the kids. Always love coming here for the on point Chinese cuisine without the msg and course meals. Best Chinese food I've found since leaving seattle! Sweet and sour chicken was lightly battered, hot and crispy. Some of the best I ever had. Mongolian beef was a flavor bomb and the most tender beef I've had in ages. Service was quick and attentive. I really have a fondness for Chan's. It's one of those old school Chinese restaurants that still has a nice ambiance to go in and sit down and enjoy your meal. We love the Po Po platter with a nice variety of appetizers complete with the flame torch to grill the meat items. The fried items are done well, not greasy and not over battered. If you indulge, the traditional Singapore Sling is one of my favorite cocktails. We have had some very good entrees such as the Happy Family. I haven't been able to find the right noodle dish for my likes, but I am happy to keep trying. The service is friendly, and you have a choice of dining room or bar seating. read more

Their food could be more flavorful, but that's not the real issue. The issue is that there was a sliver of bone in my Wor Wonton soup which chipped my tooth, and they refuse to do anything about it! It was explained to me that they don't use bones in their cooking, and Asian restaurant that doesn't use bones to make their broth? SERIOUSLY!?! My mother was a butcher for 26 years, and it's on a regular that a bone sliver accidentally gets left in a piece of meat! And again I say "They don't use bones to make their broth???" We LOVE Chan's Place! We have gone twice now, once during the week and another on a Saturday. They are VERY busy on Saturdays! We had to wait about 20 minutes for a table of 4, but that was okay. Inside looks better than the outside. The outside makes it look questionable but I always say the hole-in-the-wall places are usually the best. Inside was nice, almost elegant like. They had a few salt water fish tanks for decorations which I always love a good aquarium. The food is so good. It is my new favorite Chinese restaurant-it's almost as good as my favorite place that closed about 8 years ago. I'm so happy to have found a good Chinese place! The service is good, always friendly and nice. They also have gluten free options-the menu highlights which dishes you can request GF. Which can be hard to find in Asian cuisines. Parking for Chan's can suck. It's a little awkward and it shares parking with TJ Maxx & Homegoods and other small strip mall stores next to it. Our family has gone to Chan's for years. Tonight, we placed a to-go order in person. Once home, opening the containers - about half our order was wrong. Filled with items we have never ordered, don't like and won't eat. I called the restaurant and the person who took my order refused to even consider the possibility that she had made a mistake. She argued with me extensively and was very rude. I wasn't even looking for a refund - everyone makes mistake's - just an "I'm sorry". Due to that horrible interaction - we won't eat there again!!! I guess they have so many customers, customer service isn't something they focus on. read more
