We stumbled upon Young Brothers Pho while in Kirkland. We got two of their dishes: the Pho Tai Chin Nam Gan Sach (their #14) and the Bun Bo Hue (their #16). The lady that helped us was super friendly and helped us right away as we came in. Let's start with the #14! The pho broth was pretty darn amazing! They nailed the broth flavor! I didn't need to add any hoisin sauce or anything to it, it tasted perfect! The broth was delightful and it hit the spot. They did not cheap out on the protein which I appreciated! (Rare Beef, Brisket, Well-Done Flank, Tendon & Tripe). This might be the best Pho in WA! Next is #16, the Bun Bo Hue (Spicy lemongrass beef soup). It was very flavorful, a little bit on the sweeter side, had a lot of meet, including oxtail, meatballs, and tendon. The meet to noodle ratio was great, and the soup base was not really spicy. The only thing missing from the traditional bun Bo hue is the pork blood and the banana leaves vegetables. But other than that, it was really good. Leaving this place, we felt fulfilled and satisfied! Definitely coming back here again to try their other dishes. I stopped by on my lunch to try the pho. I've been under the weather and a nice warm bowl of pho is all I wanted. The lady was quick to place my order. I ordered a small beef pho with meatballs only. The beef pho came with plenty of meatballs, just what I wanted! The broth was delicious, not too salty , warm and comforting. The meatballs were also good as well. Worst Bahn Mi sandwich I've ever eaten! My wife brought home sandwiches for lunch from here today, we thought it would be fine because the pho here is decent (I guess). The meat (chicken) seemed like it had been sitting under a heat lamp for 14 days. Tough, barely chewable, nothing fresh about it. The carrots and radish in the sandwich were cooked, like they had throw everything together on a flat grill to cook it like cheesesteak fillings. No cilantro in there, just meat the density of wood chips and warm cucumbers. Ordered pho and some banh mi sandwiches to go and the restaurant didn't have spoons or utensils. No napkins were provided. I was taking the food to someone in the hospital, so that was an issue. The noodles were a solid block and overcooked. The sandwiches were super soggy and didn't taste good. The veggies were chopped too large and the meat was dry. I was in the area for work. I must have poor memory or was feeling generous..... Been going here while in the area and occasionally as a destination since before they bought this location from Than bros. It was good then and often since but the lady that owns this has either checked out (since she is rarely here any more and has her kids run it) or is just being frugal. They know how to do pho but refuse, it seems, to do it well with a broth with FLAVOR. I'd love to see how much star anise and seasonings they go through making their stock each day . I'm not msg adverse nor prefer it but maybe some here would be better than what they are doing? Haven't tried their other dishes in some time since they can't get pho very tasty anymore. Decently priced pho (it's rare that you see a medium pho for less than $13 nowadays), with nice decorations all around. The food itself was actually pretty substantial for the price - and they were quote generous with the shrimp on my seafood order! Broth had that nice, deep, umami flavor you often crave in a good bowl of pho. (They also have a really good chili oil to add to your meals). In terms of menu variety, they don't have quite the same as you'd see on other pho menus, but perhaps they're just trying to specialize in a few things. I think my only complaints are the interior being a little disorganized near the bathroom and the strong smell from the mopping that was happening towards the end - though to be fair, it was near closing time, so it made some sense. I came her twice now and thought it was an ok place. It's near my house so I figured I give it a try. The first time, we got 2 pho, one seafood and one combo with everything. It was very disappointing. We got it to go and didn't check our order until we got home. The combo was missing some protein such as the tendon. The seafood literally came with 2 small piece of shrimp and that's it. Oh and we did not get any veggies at all like bean sprouts etc. I figured it was an off day as it did take them a while to get our food ready so I decided to give them another try and this time got a pork banh mi. The protein was packed and filled but the veggie was not too much. So if you like your protein, then you might like this. The Kingsgate plaza has a ton of Vietnamese merchants which means there has to be a pho place. This joint will satisfy your pho craving on a chilly Seattle day. When we came, it was empty which made for fast service. Our bowls came out within minutes of ordering. I got the extra large pho tai sach (rare beef and tripe) and there's no doubt it's a big bowl. They give you tons of noodles but a little bit on the overcooked side. As far as the broth goes, it's flavorful and you really get the aroma of the star anise. I learned Young Brothers Pho in Kingsgate, Kirkland suffered a bold break-in, where the robbers broke through a wall from the adjacent empty storefront. Insane! They lost quite a bit valuables. Of course, that means we have to go and buy some food. We ordered a couple of pho from them today. First, their prices are very, very reasonable. I was impressed. Second, the food is generously portioned. The pho sizes come in S, M, L, and XL. My size small was plentiful for me. Hubby's size large was huge. Third, the ingredients are very good. The raw beef slices were particularly beautiful. I thought the pho broth is a touch sweet, but hubby didn't taste the sweetness. He loved his meal, and I'm giving the full 5 stars from his assessment. It might be 4 stars from me, but the combination of prices and ingredients' quality is enough to push it to 5 stars. Haven't had such a bad food in a while!! Service was very spotty! Ambiance was a ok. The girl that run the cash register is also the waitress AND she is also the cook!!! She cooks your pho!! There were 2-3 people in the kitchen standing by a pot. They neither came out nor help. The girl was also very fast! The food was packed well. Tried the veggie pho 4/5 The pho had a hearty and warm broth with silky smooth noodles. Had good proportion of veggie , tofu ,herbs, noodles and broth. I really enjoyed my hot bowl of pho with Sriracha drizzled on top. The herb added great freshness to my delicious bowl of pho. Lemongrass TofuBanh mi (3.5/5) - the vegetarian version of vietnamese banh mi sandwich with marinated tofu, pickled veggies , baguette was okay. This is one of those Vietnamese joints that hide in the corner and yet, has a nice following. I keep waiting for it to blow up in popularity. It's everything you want in a family owned and operated Vietnamese restaurant. For the time you are there, you're in their living room and it's been a joy getting to now the owners and their young adult children. The food is great and the big star is the Pho broth! Service: seat yourself, you will be watered, order taken at the table, walk up to counter to pay. Spring Rolls with Tofu: pretty good lettuce to vermicelli ratio. Generous thick cut tofu. Pretty filling app. Kudos to them for using romaine lettuce and not iceberg. Peanut sauce is ok--I've had better but it still tastes good. Pho #9: soup is a bit on the bland side but is more palatable when you add the basil and lime. A good "home cooked" feel as opposed to the overly flavored soups from other places. Amount of noodles is really generous and the lime is oh so juicey--if you've read my previous reviews about limes, you'd know how I feel about a good fresh lime slice! Dang, I love photo! Luckily, I have lots of opportunities to try out different faux joints in the greater Seattle area since I travel around doing home visits in King and Snohomish County's. I have to say that this little mom and pop joint in the Kingsgate area. Strip mall is absolutely delicious. I have been coming here for quite a while even when it was under a different name. My favorite thing in the menu involves rare beef and their prices were quite reasonable. But the last couple visits the prices have increased and they also add for to go orders. I can understand that the prices have increased just everything else these days. But the quality of beef ha dropped significantly. If i am going to pay the increased prices I want good quality and indo not want tough meat. I came here to give this Pho restaurant a shot because a lady at the Kirkland Caribbean Casino said it was the best around the area. Though I didn't disagree with her (since there aren't many many options around here), this place had bowls that were oddly shaped where the bottom of the bowl is more narrow and there is not ENOUGH pho broth! That could potentially count as a sin for pho [sorry, I know I'm a pho snob]! Nonetheless, this allowed the noodles to soak up the limited amount of pho broth served - and they gave a TON of meat.. not sure how many ounces, it felt endless. I would say this restaurant is OK. Perhaps they'll take the constructive feedback, provide bigger bowls for more soup and I'm sure the meal would be much more pleasant!
