I had an appointment to try gel nail extensions with Samantha. There were a few things that I didn't love (she reshaped my square natural nails to an oval shape, the extensions were sharp and pointy, I asked for the extensions to have a coffin shape but they were not). However, I didn't think these were big issues since I only needed my nails done for a movie I was in. Fast forward to weeks later, I schedule her again to have the nails removed as I prefer my natural nails. Barely 30 minutes before my appointment, she cancels saying something came up and doesn't offer any accommodations (see screenshot of text convo). Since she tells me to go schedule another appointment on the website, I do not specifying her as the tech and see my original day and time is available. I got to the shop at the time and see she's working on another client. After waiting a while, I find out the available time is for her. She says to me, "I told you I didn't have time to do your nails today." I tell her, "You told me to go to the website and schedule a time available that is convenient to my schedule." She says, "I meant a different day." I tell her, "You didn't say that." I feel that she was very unprofessional and her correspondence in canceling my appointment showed poor customer service. Nothing came up. She just didn't want to do my nails. If she was tired or something to that effect, she could have communicated that she needed to cut her day short and if I'll select her for another day, she would be happy to take care of me then. She did none of that and I do not recommend her services. read more

First of all, this place is one of my favorite places to visit every two weeks. I have come to Eastside Nails a long long time ago when it was in a different location. Don't worry, I did not stop coming because of anything bad, I just stopped getting my nails done as much for a long time but I have a rekindled love for this place. I recently started back getting my finger nails done and I decided to come to Eastside because I love designs specifically. Denise is my tech and she is great. We talk about everything especially music, she brings my ideas to life and sometimes she tries new ideas on me. I enjoy chatting with the other patrons and staff when I visit. The music is always great, the customer service is also amazing. Sometimes I have to cancel my appointment but Denise always finds a way to slide me back in. She is amazing, this place is amazing. LOL, reading the other reviews are funny to me. Listen, they do provide walk-ins IF they can fit you in between people who have already made appointments. That's literally what a walk-in is, there's no promise of service. Next, it's not that ridiculous that a salon ONLY provides gel and basic services. The Googler is free and they don't hide the fact that they don't provide acrylic services. The girls were finishing up lunch when I arrived for my appointment so I waited and picked out my color. Carson did her THANG on these here nails. The color I picked was perfect and she made these nails look pretty, even if I'm rough on them. I had just worked 23 hours before I made it to them and I really felt relaxed and well taken care of. Of course, I will be back. read more

Went here for the first time today and loved it! I called about an hour beforehand (based on other reviews recs) and they were able to get me in. They were helpful with color choice and had me laughing most of my visit (just a bunch of crazy girls talking about Instagram, local business owners, and life in general.) Two of the girls do awesome nail art and they have chrome for $15. Their $35 gel mani includes the soak off and Tuesdays they're $25! Book in advance though, which I will be doing! What a strange experience I had. Walked in just to buy a gift card for a friend who is a client. I suppose I don't fit the description of somebody who gets their nails done, which I love to indulge in a good manicure every now and then, but the woman looked at me like I had the plague. I told her that I was looking to purchase a gift card, and she simply refused to sell me one, because "I don't want to sell you something that can't be used." She then went on to explain how they are booked all the time, and there would be no way my gift recipient would be able to use their gift card. I tried to explain that my friend was already an established client, but she wouldn't hear of it. So, I left without purchasing a gift card, and completely and totally perplexed by the interaction. My spouse was with me and witnessed this exchange, and was equally confused. The best of the best nails in Nashville. I am so grateful to have Eastside Nails in my neighborhood. All the technicians are easy to talk to, super skilled, and truly excited to give you nails you will love. My gel manicures here easily last 3 weeks or longer looking great, and their nail art is astounding. They're always up on the latest cool stuff in nails! Even better, this shop cares about the Nashville community. The owner, Michelle, has graciously given her time and energy to be part of a benefit for local girls I help put on every year. One last note: This is an appointment-based salon (which I personally love). Any reviews about not being able to get a walk-in appointment are sort of missing the point there. ;) read more

I am a teacher and we start school this Monday! My other teacher friends and me decided late yesterday that we wanted to treat ourselves before the school year. Since it was after closing we decided to book online. Well after I booked mine, my other friends informed me they weren't able to get times near mine or remotely close, so we had to look for another place. Well I did see that you have to give a 24 hr in advance cancellation call but because I booked the night before, that would be impossible. So I called today and left a message on why I needed to cancel and apologized for having to do so. None of us had knowledge to know that there wasn't a way we all could be seen together. Anyways I got an email saying it was canceled and I was charge 1/2 of the price of the pedicure. I was upset because I didn't see on the policy where it said it would charge me. So I called and talked to Michelle. I explained my situation and she kept saying that it says on the website that there is a 100% charge if you cancel (well pictures say a different story. One is my email and one is the website). I realized she was being rude, so I asked her why she was being rude and she said, "I am not being rude, I am just stating the facts and you get charged 100%." Which I asked if that was normal in Nashville. Michelle said, "It is the norm at my salon. I am the owner. Facts are fact. Have a nice day." And hung up. So moral of the story- Don't book here if you want to go with friends. They will charge you some portion of your service if you call to cancel in 24 hours....which it does not state anywhere they will do that. Michelle clearly needs to update her cancelation policy. TL;DR: small boutique style salon without the super expensive boutique salon prices (similar pricing to generic nail salons across the city). Super surprised by all of the negative reviews! I've never had a bad experience at Eastside Nails, everyone is always nice, and I'm always happy with my manicures (every gel manicure I've gotten has lasted at least 3 weeks). I love that the salon is VERY clean (like really really clean), the atmosphere is so relaxed and chill, and the online booking makes it so easy! I prefer having a manicure here rather than a generic strip mall nail salon that may or may not be totally disinfected, and has no character or charm. $25 gel Tuesday is the best, just book ahead of time (especially if you want to be seen by a specific tech) because- duh- it's a good deal and the appointments fill up quickly. Bonus points for the convenient location, The Shoppes on Fatherland is an awesome local spot with so many cool little spaces (cheese shop, Wax Nashville, coffee, restaurants, vintage, all the fun stuff) it's easy to have a relaxing solo morning/afternoon there. There are a bunch of other little indie shops to wander through, and you're supporting local small businesses so yay. read more

Extremely unprofessional encounter. We flew in from out of town and waited for this place to open. Upon entering we were greeted and immediately seated and they started working on us. Right after we walked in a bridal party walked in also. About 10-15 mins after they started working on my two friends a lady walked up to us and told us that she thought we were a part of the bridal party and would finish the service they started but they couldn't do my nails because the other group had blocked out time. Unfortunately I am also a bride and was here for my bachelorette party so this was very embarrassing. This was not our fault and they should have completed the services we started including on me... my feet were already soaking!! We decided to walk out so we could all get our nails done together. What a lovely intimate nail salon. I'm new to the area and have been on the hunt for a place for a pedicure. This two woman salon fits the bill- lovely decor, friendly and professionally run. Love the ease of booking an appointment online. The space is a sun filled cheery location in the Shops on Fatherland. Annie did my pedicure and was so meticulous. What I especially liked was the friendliness of both Annie and Michelle, and the interaction between them and their clients. They've got a great thing going and I was almost hesitant to write a review for fear of them getting too busy. But they deserve their success! read more

I don't know who these people are that have had bad experiences here, but I've been going to Eastside regularly for about a year and a half and have only ever had positive experiences with the entire staff. Everyone is kind, and my nails always look great. I get compliments on the regular and am always referring people here. Their work is amazing, especially for the price, and that's why they're always booked. If you want to be guaranteed a walk-in, go somewhere less busy, but you can always call, and they'll try to fit you in. read more

Two girls and I flew in from out of town for a bachelerotte party, wanting to have a relaxing pedicure/'manicure before celebrating our best friend, the bride. We walked in and were seated, and staff began working on our nails, and even gave us a glass of wine. 15 minutes later, the staff told us we had to leave and they could not finish our services because they had another bridal party coming in. A lady snatched the wine glass out of my hand and dumped it down the sink. My friend had to pay for her unfinished service and left with oily hands and fingernails. Unfinished, unprofessional, rude. Not the best experience. A friend and I booked two appointments online to be done at the same time (I was visiting Nashville and this was my first time at the nail salon)-- I chose Michelle for my manicure and I didnt specify the technician for my pedicure. When we got there it turned out that Lindsey B would be doing my nails and Michelle is the ow we that would be training her--none of this was communicated to me. I was fine with it as I just wanted to enjoy time with my friend. Michelle started to monitor Lindsey's movement and it because a really weird exchange that led Lindsey to start crying while she was doing my nails--both mani and pedi. It went on for a while till Lindsey got so angry and upset and then had to take some time to calm down. I was trying not to listen even if i was right there because this was between a supervisor and their employee. Michelle took over and did my nails once Lindsey got up and left--they were done well. She did apologize later and explained that Lindsey B was new to doing nails (this is middle aged woman mind you and not her first job) but the whole experience was really bizarre. I would not choose Lindsey B to do nails here and I would've expected some form of discount or even a better way of handling all of this by both individuals as this went on for the Entire duration of both my mani and pedi and was extremely uncomfortable. I felt bad for Michelle but perhaps continuing to train a staff member that was so visibly upset probably wasn't the best choice and I completely get the pressures of a new job and craft but this was handled extremely poorly by both individuals. read more

Easily the worst pedicure I have ever had. My toe nails looked better before I even walked in. I am visiting Nashville for a wedding and went to get them touched up before tonight. It looks like a dog chewed on my toe nails. She cut my toe nails so short and I have so much polish on my skin still. There are many other places near by with better reviews. East side nails was recommended to me by a friend. I'm not pleased. First of all, I walked in and the technician tells me I booked two appts. I tell her it's my first time there and I must have done it on accident, even though I only got a confirmation for one. She was clearly not thrilled with me from the beginning. She didn't want to chat at all. Ok, that's fine, but I prefer you tell me "switch feet" then just tap my leg and expect me to know what to do. I rarely get mani/pedis. Onto my nails - I ask if I can get a fun design on my ring finger nail for vacation. She said that's fine but they'll need another technician to do it. So I plan it out, choose my color specifically anticipating being able to do the design. If I knew we couldn't do it, that would be totally fine, just let me know from the beginning. After she finishes she tells me they can't do the design anymore so I'm left with two plain white ring fingers and a color I'm not crazy about (only did it bc it would go with the design). I still tipped 20% but felt like I needed to leave this here. read more

This place is great! Not like those other nail places where they rush you in and rush you out. If your appointment is for an hour, it will be for the full hour. The staff is very skilled - I have had excellent gel manicures where the attention to technical detail is outstanding; they take great care in shaping, placing the color and touching up. My nails always look awesome, and if it was only about this I would give them a 5. I also like it for its location and appointment availability. However, the "deluxe" level services are absolutely not worth it. I paid $55 instead of $35 for a deluxe gel mani that was supposed to take 15 min longer than regular. The only differences were a scrub (ok, this was nice), a mask (very thin and fast, and my tech left the "hot" towel sitting out while she applied the mask so by the time the towel reached me it was a wet, cool towel - actually a worse experience than no mask at all), and a massage (which - I am not kidding; I timed it - lasted 9 seconds per arm). The entire thing took 60 minutes (actually just under), not 75. From now on, just the basics which they are plenty good at. All things considered, still probably the best nail salon in East Nashville / Lockeland area. read more
