    Sushi Combo #3

The food was very fresh and actually came out fairly quickly given how understaffed they were. Only one person was working as both waiter and host, but still did an excellent job! I will definitely be coming back here next time I have a craving for sushi.

    drunken noodle w/ chicken

We hesitated trying this place based on some reviews but came anyway, and glad we did! We were promptly seated, ordered right away and food came out fairly quickly. Pan fried dumplings came in four small squares but were tasty with great dipping sauce, fragrant tofu soup had bits of chicken with all kinds of veggies. And the drunken noodle w/ chicken tasted better than the Thai restaurants in NoVA we frequent (how can that be??). Unsure about ordering sushi from a Thai place but tried a dragon roll just to see and it was fresh and good too. Water was promptly refilled w/o asking and tables cleared quickly by very friendly and professional staff. Only bummer was they were out of mango when we wanted to try mango w/ sticky rice. Glad we found a good Thai food in NNK and will be back to try other dishes for sure!

Sushi combo 1 shrimp tempura, California roll, salmon roll - shrimp tempura is just amazing

We often go to our River house in the northern neck near Chesapeake area and we always are looking for places to eat. We doing this nice Thai restaurant in Kilmarnock. Our realtor had recommended us this place. We often dine here during the weekdays. Some of my favorites have been shrimp tempura roll, dumpling in red sauce, Tom ghar Kai soup (love the coconut flavor), chicken satay, Chaya praya combo appetizer, and Thai green curry with chicken or shrimp. Very nice ambiance. Service has been great except for one time when they were packed and they had very few staff members to serve us. It took almost 90 minutes to get our order. Only disappointment about this place is their price for cocktails. Their Margarita is nothing too special and it will cost you $13.50. We often just dine here and then head to another place for drinks.

    LOVED the crab fried rice.

Totally exceeded my expectations. It wasn't high, so it Chao phraya soared over it. Started out a mixed drink that came with it's own cocktail shaker. It was refreshing and tasty. We also had a sushi roll, but sadly I forgot which one! I'm sure they were all just as good as this one. I think it was tempura salmon. I finished up with a novelty to me - crab fried rice!! Wow, it was just as good as I had hoped and twice as massive as I imagined. I wish I was staying somewhere with a frig. I would have eaten 1/2 of that as a second meal. As it was, I tore into it like a bear preparing for hibernation because I wanted to get as much out of it as I could. Appropriately, I ate so much that I may have fallen into a food coma afterwards... But boy, it was good.

Almost 3 hours to get appetizers that were cold and dried out. Have had good experience before but this was horrible.

Before we moved to Williamsburg, we visited the area for vacations, and Thai Tara is alway the first place we go for dinner and the final meal before leaving. Whether you crave the freshest Sushi/Sashimi or you prefer authentic Thai street food, you will find it here. We have traveled to Bangkok many times, and from first hand experience can say without exaggerating that the Chicken Sate or Fresh Rolls are as authentic as you might find at the street markets in BKK. The Tom Kha and Tom Yum soups are a treat. The extensive selection of warm Thai dishes like Pad Thai and Penang Curry are outstanding. We often include a hand roll or a selection of Sashimi from the Sushi bar in our orders. Never has the sushi bar prepared anything less than perfect. And if you want a real treat, finish your meal with a Mango Sticky Rice. Although small in size, it's surely is a dessert of the gods. An extensive bar is also on hand at Thai Tara for your favorite hand mixed cocktail, umbrella drink or beer, including Thailand's own Singha, a refreshing lager. Plan to arrive early because this cozy (but not small) place gets very busy, especially on weekends. Parking can be tight. But even in the busiest evenings, service is always prompt, attentive, and with a Thai smile.

The music,…read morehowever, was classic American oldies--unexpected and not quite fitting for the restaurant. I would have preferred a more immersive Thai atmosphere to match the cuisine. We both enjoyed the edamame appetizer topped with sea salt, and when our entrées arrived, we immediately noticed the generous portion sizes. He ordered the garlic chicken special, which was decent but unremarkable. I chose the pineapple fried rice with chicken and enjoyed it, though I would have liked more pineapple and slightly larger pieces of chicken rather than the thin slices served. Overall, the experience was fine but not memorable. We don't regret dining here, though if we skipped it on a future visit to town, we wouldn't feel like we missed out.

Nothing could be further from the truth as the place was packed. I came-and I was not the only one-seeking vegetarian options among a region not full of them. I wasn't wowed at them using generic grocery store bottled tea. The food, however, was better. A set of spring rolls came with fresh vegetables and a sweet and spicy dipping sauce. My tofu was savory, spicy, and very fried. Despite the crowds, service was reasonably good. On a nicer day, covered outdoor space would have been available to sit. The experience would rate a bit lower in an urban area in my mind. But given that any urban area is a long way from here, I was happy with what I found.
