      Lies, Lies and more Lies!
      Greg G.

Let me state first that I'm not inclined to give a horrible review unless it is duly deserved. That being said, my daughter went off the road at a highway exit and it destroyed both tires and a wheel on the right side of the car. I was looking for a place close to have AAA tow it to that also had good reviews. Unfortunately I chose CHT. I called them and asked if I could bring 2 new tires to them from GSO because we had just bought 4 tires for her car 2 mo. prior and they said yes. When I got there I saw that the wheel was damaged and they thought they could fix it but could not (this didn't surprise me). What astonished me was that they quoted a new wheel at $608, for a 2016 Nissan Sentra!!! Yes, not a GTR but a Sentra. They said they couldn't get one from a salvage yard and had to buy from the dealer. I called Crown Nissan in GSO and they quoted me $400. I called CHT back to say that I could get one cheaper and they said they can only get them from a list they are approved to buy from, then magically they were able to find a sparkling new wheel from a salvage yard for $266. Issue #1.. Issue #2, I asked Ben to make sure the front was aligned and he said they would check it for free and only charge if it needed it. Well it turns out it did and the alignment was $95 which is about $40 more than the tire place in GSO (largest Michelin dealer in the triad) where I bought the tires. Also, i never received an alignment report! I have always received this from every other place I get an alignment. Issue #3 (the big one!), Ben called me again to say that the front right lower control arm and strut were badly bent and needed to be replaced as well as the control arm and strut on the left side of the car (undamaged side). I asked why he would replace both sides and Ben stated that if you replace one control arm and strut you HAVE to replace both. This is complete BS!! I have a 2004 GMC Envoy with 235k mikes on it and have replaced the LCA on the passenger side but not the driver side. Car drives fine. I have asked 2 other mechanics this week if the above is true and they both said absolutely not. ALSO, at this point i decided to drive my daughters car back to GSO to my mechanic and let him look at it, and guess what?? Neither the lower control arm nor the strut is bent. I drove it home at speeds up to 76 mph and there was zero wheel shake or front end wobble. Mechanic did the same and said the same. Looked at it for 1hr on a lift and found NO DAMAGE to LCA or strut. In the attached picture you can see that they wanted to milk me for $2100 to fix something that didn't need fixing. They also show that I need a new battery and were going to charge $18 to install it! Guess what, my mechanic pulled a load on it and its @ 68% capacity and he said it didn't need replacing. Oh, and they brakes work great and I don't need to pay $120 to flush the brake fluid. Issue #4, when I went to pick up the car to drive it home, thinking I still needed a LCA and strut for the passenger side, I got in the car and started to pull out and the "Low tire pressure" warning light came on immediately. Frustrated, I went back inside and started to explain the situation and the manager interrupted and said, "What is it that you want us to do?". I exclaimed that I had just paid $584 to have my daughters car fixed and would like to HAVE IT FIXED!!! Luckily, a sympathetic and intelligent employee came out and figured out that the $70 TPMS sensor had never been programmed into the car. Oh yea, forgot to mention that they also charged $75 to mount and balance 2 tires, really?? Now you have to ask yourself, why would my mechanic lie when he easily could have taken the attached picture quote and charged me for items I didn't need? Well, because he's honest and doesn't make a living ripping people off! Never, Never, EVER take your vehicle to Chapel Hill Tire. If you need new tires or a good mechanic, send me a PM and I will send you straight to the people I always use. I guarantee you, even driving to GSO you will same money. You know what they say, "Don't Yell at them, Yelp them"...

The nice waiting room is through those doors :)

The whole place had such good vibes: everyone I met was pleasant, upbeat, and seemed genuinely happy to be there. I got to meet the owner, Steve, along with my car's new bff Pablo, who went above and beyond during what was scheduled as a simple service visit. He affixed my front license plate, cleaned the inside of my windshield (!), let me tag along on the test drive, and even brought me into the shop to see my car's underside once it was up in the air. How did he know I would absolutely love that? Little things mattered too: the waiting area was comfortable, clean, sunny, and quiet, with a thoughtfully planned garden out front. Rates were refreshingly reasonable--and not one cent over the estimate. It was such an exceptional experience, one that gave me real confidence and peace of mind that my car is in good hands. Three cheers for Wasp Automotive!

I took it back to the shop and they told me it had essentially no coolant in it. I immediately asked the technicians why there was no coolant. They told me, "It was filled up when it was here." When I asked, "Then why is there no coolant in it now?", they couldn't give me an explanation beyond repeating that they had filled it. The car continued losing coolant and overheating. I brought it back multiple times, and I was repeatedly told that they had pressure-tested the cooling system and that there were no pressure issues and everything was fine. They also told me there were no warning lights indicating a problem. Meanwhile, I was constantly having to refill the coolant and pull over when the car overheated. One time I had to sit on the side of the road for about 45 minutes waiting for a friend to bring me coolant just so I could get the car home without overheating it. Eventually the car broke down on the highway and had to be towed. After all those previous visits where I was assured the cooling system was fine, I was finally told that the head gasket had blown and that replacing the engine would cost around $6,000. After I challenged that price, the estimate was suddenly reduced to around $3,000. I'm not upset that a Subaru developed a mechanical problem. I'm upset that I repeatedly reported coolant loss and overheating, and I was repeatedly told the cooling system was fine. The car eventually suffered a major failure anyway. I don't trust this shop and I won't be taking another vehicle there. If you're dealing with a recurring mechanical problem, I strongly recommend getting a second opinion before continuing to rely on their diagnosis

I arrived at my scheduled time 1:10pm and I was finished by 2:15. I work in the dental field and went on my lunch break, because of this I called my patient and asked if I could move them to 2:30 because I knew I may run late. The patient was able to accommodate me. (This is important for the review) they were able to plug the tire and because I had purchased the warranty there was nothing due. Joe fixed me right up and I made it back in time. A couple days later my TPMS light indicates it can't read my tire pressure. I go online to make an appointment for 6:00 that day. The Durham location calls me and states they can't see me at 6:00 because they have 3 people already for 6:00. I informed them I picked the time the online offer. They stated the online schedule doesn't take into consideration that they already have people scheduled and asked if I could come at 4:00. I informed them I could not, I could do 5:30. They stated they could not see me until next week, informed them I didn't want to wait that long, I'm not sure if this tire is leaking or just the light. I inquired if another Firestone would be able to see me and handle the issue. He stated yes, so I go online and make an appointment with them for 6:00. Low and behold they call me and stated they couldn't see me at 6:00 because they were booked. It sounds like their online systems need to be updated, because you show me what's available and I choose. I say okay and cancel the appointment, I call my mom and ask if i could use her car and she says yes. I go back online and schedule with New Hope location for 12:00pm the next day. I get a call from the location informing me that I made another appointment, I told him yes I will have my mother bring it. He then tells me I need to go back to Durham and what's their number because it makes no sense that they can't see me until next week. I provided the number even though at this point I have steam coming from my ears! New Hope calls back and said he spoke to Jeff the general manager and they can see me tomorrow at 6:00, and to call them. I call Jeff, and said I guess the Raleigh location called you and he proceeds to say we can see you tomorrow at 8:00am. I once again inform him I cannot do 8:00, I have a patient. I can do 4:00 and that's the time we settle on. Last night I received a text that my appointment has been updated to 9:00am, at this point I have decided to see someone else and just pay out of pocket. Then today I received a text today stating my appointment is at 6:00pm then I receive one 15 minutes later stating my appointment has been moved to July 31 at 12:00pm. Who arbitrarily moves an appointment? Can you imagine your dental office sending you a text that they have just moved your appointment? I spent over 1,1000 for new tires and brakes less than a year ago and they can't even uphold their warranty.

Most of the staff was smoking, I did see a few packs of cigarettes around. I came in with a flat tire, trying to get it patched. I also had a damaged stud after it broke off the wheel while still inside the lug nut, thanks to roadside assistance. I even brought over an extra lug nut and stud from an auto parts store that was recommended to me. But the staff said they couldn't use those. So they had to use their supplier and it took over an hour to get the part. They actually had to go out to get the right parts, which was good of them to do. They also replaced my air cabin and filter I didn't come in asking for them to be fixed, but at least they made me aware of it and I appreciated that. What frustrated me is the tire was patachable and they didn't do it. They simply removed what was left of the stud and them put on the new parts with my spare still on the car. So they then told me to go down the street to Firestone to try to get the tire patched. That turned into another 2 hours over there, but that's for another review. But the worst part is they charged me $145 in labor. And they couldn't even finish the job correctly. I could understand a small charge for the air filter. But $145 just for labor is insulting and inappropriate. My total bill was around $230. To total it up, an hour and 45 minutes is what I spent in that office, and for most of that time there was only one other customer. It's not as if they were backed up with a lot of Sunday afternoon jobs to do. I have had good experiences with other Jiffy Lube locations in the past. I will never visit this one ever again.
