What a frustrating experience. First of all, you can barely hear the manager when he speaks. I swear, he smokes something. Most of the staff was smoking, I did see a few packs of cigarettes around. I came in with a flat tire, trying to get it patched. I also had a damaged stud after it broke off the wheel while still inside the lug nut, thanks to roadside assistance. I even brought over an extra lug nut and stud from an auto parts store that was recommended to me. But the staff said they couldn't use those. So they had to use their supplier and it took over an hour to get the part. They actually had to go out to get the right parts, which was good of them to do. They also replaced my air cabin and filter I didn't come in asking for them to be fixed, but at least they made me aware of it and I appreciated that. What frustrated me is the tire was patachable and they didn't do it. They simply removed what was left of the stud and them put on the new parts with my spare still on the car. So they then told me to go down the street to Firestone to try to get the tire patched. That turned into another 2 hours over there, but that's for another review. But the worst part is they charged me $145 in labor. And they couldn't even finish the job correctly. I could understand a small charge for the air filter. But $145 just for labor is insulting and inappropriate. My total bill was around $230. To total it up, an hour and 45 minutes is what I spent in that office, and for most of that time there was only one other customer. It's not as if they were backed up with a lot of Sunday afternoon jobs to do. I have had good experiences with other Jiffy Lube locations in the past. I will never visit this one ever again. read more

Very very very very sloooooooooooooooooooooooow. They take long rest time and work so slow that you feel they intentionally want you to not come here anymore for their service. Not sure what personal problems he encounters outside of work but he projects it not only on his customers but fellow colleagues. Very passive aggressive. The customer and car service were absolutely above and beyond what I have experienced or expected. Thank you so much to these folks. I went here for an oil change, and quickly found out that there were many things that needed to be fixed on my car. Brakes, battery, and more. Disclaimer: this is the second time someone told me about my brakes, so I knew at this point it's a bigger problem. Cass was so knowledgeable in talking to me about the safety concerns, they were honest and transparent about pricing. They took the time to walk through different options with me and made me feel like I knew exactly what I was getting into. Usually, car places tell you what's wrong and give you a price-and not an explanation. Both Cass and Travis really explained their concerns and what the process would be like fixing it. I even asked about going elsewhere (to save money) and they told me the pros and cons of that. I did not feel like I was paying a ridiculous amount at all, and I understood exactly what I was paying for. I honestly did not expect this kind of personable interaction going to a Jiffy Lube (this was my first time), and I am more than happy to say I have told my friends and family about my positive experience here and will be a regular (as regular as someone with car issues will be). They fixed my car day of, they were all so understanding of my concerns and answered all of my questions. Travis was terrific and helped out a tremendous amount with the pricing. It honestly was a life saver, when not expecting to pay that much-it helped a ton. Travis, Cass, and Shy all worked on my car and got the job done. I needed a ton of work (as mentioned) and they called with any updates along the way. I really valued this location's transparency, personable connections, and expertise. My only complaint is that my NC inspection happened so fast I didn't get a chance to sit down :) He said it would be 5 minutes and it was faster. The Jiffy Lube at 1221 NC-54, Durham, NC 27707 continues to be a real shit show. Supposed to be open at 8am this morning. I stopped by at 9:40am for an inspection. All the bays are open, music is blaring so loudly I can barely hear what the service tech is asking me... and the place reeks of marijuana. I let him know I need an inspection and he tells me it will just be a few minutes. 10 minutes later... nothing. Another tech comes out and I ask him how long and he says at least 30 minutes. Bear in mind, they aren't working on any cars at this point in time. Two employees are at the edge of the parking lot having a profane and very loud argument with two ladies who aren't even in cars. No guessing who they were... but the swear words were flying. What is up with this place? Not the first time i've had terrible customer service. Last time I was in, my car was done and sitting in a bay while the whole crew carried on (again, reeking of marijuana). I eventually had to poke my head out into the service bay and ask if I could have my car. =========== UPDATE: Manager (owner?) reached out to me yesterday. Arranged for me to visit another convenient location and get the work done. Did that this morning. Everybody at this location was super attentive and nice and had me in/out quickly. From now on, i'll be visiting the 4904 NC-55 location but will never return to the NC-54 location. So... zero stars for the NC-54 location --- 5 stars for the NC-55 location. read more

went to get car inspected and failed for low coolant and low brake fluid like the gentlemen in an earlier review. was told brake fluid was too low and to top it off would be 99$. went to buy the fluids myself and when I checked my brake levels it was below the max but well above the min. manager became short with me after denying the top off. I didn't catch the name of the employee who helped me, but he filled my tire pressure free of charge and even referred me to a nearby shop that could help me address my check engine light on short notice. I just went to Jiffy Lube today to check on an oil leak that recently started. I normally get oil changes at this location and always recommended their service but today after explaining my problem and being honest that I had just replaced the air compressor and received an oil change from another location, the manager advised me that he will NOT allow any of his technicians to touch my car and he walked off. I simply asked the gentleman to see if it's something that would be simple to repair since I was right in the area shopping at Food Town. He was extremely RUDE and walked off and was having discussions with bystanders about my dissatisfaction with his demeanor and emphatic refusal to check on the issue. I honestly didn't have to tell him that I had service done at another location but I did and this is how I was treated. He was downright rude and I will NEVER use their service again. They have lost a faithful customer of 8 years and I'm sure that they don't give a damn. read more

This is literally the worst place you can ever go to, Never again I brought my car in for a simple state inspection, with my cars having no issues, I drove it back home, and it stayed in my garage, for a day, and when I'm driving to work my power cuts off while I'm driving , so I almost get into an accident, because of what these people did, I bring it in, asking them to fix it on their dime because they caused the issue, and at my car was having absolutely zero problems, and their shifting the blame, just do yourself a favor, and stay far away from here. read more

I took my car in for an oil change, but they drained my transmission instead. after ensuring me that it was safe to drive, I took it to subaru service the next day and the transmission was completely destroyed. the damage totaled almost 11,000 dollars, and my car is currently undrivable. this has been the worst experience i have ever had with auto service. Don't go to Jiffy Lube. EVERY time we have ever gone here to have a car inspected they ALWAYS fail us because "we need new wiper blades". We don't. We have changed our blades a month before going in and yet they always fail us. It's their way of making money so they feel the need to fail a vehicle because of wiper blades. I went in for a state inspection and an oil change. The workers were polite, although a little hard to hear at times (soft spoken). The work seems fine; an inspection is an inspection, and there isn't a big puddle of oil under my car, so I assume it was done correctly. I saw one of the workers wiping the car down, so they were at least consciencious about not making/leaving a mess. AND they didn't mess with the seat position, so I definitely appreciated that (I don't know why so many mechanics mess with the seat...). Pricing was nothing special (even with a coupon). The waiting room was also pretty unpleasant. Very warm (thermostat said 78), cramped, and I wouldn't trust the coffee machine to make anything drinkable. Biggest complaint was the time it took - it was 1 hr 40 minutes from door to door; they were busy, but not THAT busy. So, it wasn't particularly cheap, it wasn't particularly fast, and it wasn't particularly comfortable. I'd go back, but it wasn't so good that I won't look around and see if I can find better options. read more

Stopped in for a state inspection last week. Heavy-set gentleman was sitting outside on a bench. I asked him if he was performing state inspection and he rudely said "does it look like it". I replied by saying "I don't know, the door that has a state inspection banner is closed so I am unsure", he asked me what door is closed. I pointed to it and the banner. Small misunderstanding but the tone was as if he was trying to insult my intelligence. He again asked me what gave me the impression state inspections were not being done and he clearly didn't understand that it was a minor misunderstanding on my part. He told me to pull my car up to the first bay, as I turned around to get back in my car he made a comment to the other customer (standing outside because the waiting room was locked) and they both had a chuckle at my expense. As I'm pulling up to the bay he dramatically points to the bay door that says oil change over top of it - I again was concerned so as I got out I said, "you threw a curve ball at me there" to lighten what seemed to be a tense initial interaction. He replied by telling me I had the wrong paper in my hand - which I was well aware of but I showed him I had multiple papers in my hand and one of them was indeed the correct one needed for the inspection. I am unsure why some mechanic act like customers are such a burden to them. Am I not paying for your service? Needless to say the work ethic and customer service was lacking with this employee. After my inspection was done, I had to stop as i was leaving the lot because he forgot to close and latch my hood. Customer service, work ethic, and skill set are all questionable here. No longer servicing my car here and can't convince me otherwise so no need for the management team to comment on this review - if management hires someone like that, it puts this entire location in question. Find another place to go and save yourself from dealing with people who treat customers poorly. read more

They also told me my brake pads and rotors were ready to change and it would cost $400. I went to Firestone later that day and they said my brakes were fine. Stopped in for a state inspection on 7/7/2023. After 30 minutes was told vehicle failed for low coolant and dirty brake fluid. I told the tech, "I would take care of it". After 30 more minutes tech returned to cash out with $154 bill for inspection, top off coolant ($9.99) and brake fluid flush ($99.99). I noted that my last words to the tech were that I would take care of failed items. The manager removed the maintenance items from the bill and only charged for inspection. After research with North Carolina DMV, dirty brake fluid is not a failure. Not happy with my experience and will not be returning. read more

I'm not from this area, stopped for oil change. I use the local Jiffy Lube in my hometown, so I assumed service would be comparable. Staff was nice enough, but no care taken to be clean or neat in their service. I had to wash and wax the area around the hood of my truck after I got home, there was oil all over it from where the technician had leaned against it. They didn't use any hood covers or otherwise to protect the paint or gods from scratches or harsh chemicals. If it'd only been a small spot I wouldn't say anything, I expect that, but this was terrible. Also, the same tech wanted to pull my truck in and out. I said no, and I'm glad I did, because the leather seats would've been ruined and Jiffy Lube would've been paying the bill!!! They did not check tire pressure or fluids, nor did they top off the fluids, ANY fluids. I will never use this location again, and I would NOT recommend it to ANYONE!! Also, an oil change here is almost $30.00 higher than the same service I get at my local Jiffy Lube. I'm filing a complaint with the company. read more

Good afternoon Jiffy Lube Customer Service Team, I am a very unsatisfied customer. Before I start, I hope all is well and you are having a wonderful day. Moreover, on 09/30/17 between the hours of 9am-10 am I arrived to your store #2733 located on 4904 N.C HWY 55 Durham, NC 27713 to get an oil change. I have used Jiffy Lube in the past and I understand it is on the more expensive side of things due to the service provided. I usually do not mind the price, in fact the price was not the issue here, the issue was the customer service. Here are the factors that has ruined my customer service experience: Upon arrival, I pulled up to the service bay and was greeted by an older African American man, who told me "The wait would be about 45 mins, but I work for tips, and I can take you right now." I replied "Okay", and walked inside as he took my car to be serviced. I thought that was rude, and unprofessional. Once inside the store, I was ignored however the Caucasian male behind me was greeted instead. So, I sat down I waited and waited, so I decided to walk to the counter where I was instructed to "wait my turn, people are serviced in the order they come". I waited for a very long time as many were serviced even though they arrived after me. When I was finally services, I was not told what would be done to my car, or anything about the process. I was simply given a fee and asked to pay. As I attempted t ask questions I was shut down instantly and told everything was going to be taken care of. Again, rude and unprofessional. I was asked to pay before the service, and I did. Then, I sat down. Once my car was pulled around front, I walked up to it, and the young man inside was going through my glove department. I was in shock and asked "what are you doing". He replied "looking for a manual to reset your tire pressure", I replied "this is a 2016 Chevy Cruze the pressure is on the screen there It automatically resets itself." He continued to shuffle the papers in my glove department unit I screamed "stop, get out of my car". He said he added air to my tires, however when I checked the screen my tire pressures were at 32, 30, 25, and 40. I was furious and asked them to fix it. Once I drove down the road I began to read my invoice and noticed a mat in my car was missing. I called the station and they replied "there are no matts here, and we do not take them out when vacuuming." No vacuuming was done in my car, the windows were not whipped, the customer service was horrible, someone was caught going through my personal belongings, they tried to send me out as soon as they could with my tire pressure incorrect, an attempt was made to bribe me into tipping before my service, I was asked to pay before my service, management was horribly rude and ignored me possibly because of the color of my skin, my floor mat was missing, and I was charged the amount of $100.00 for this terrible experience. I came here on 6/16 for oil change. The guy told me the brakes look worn. I agreed to get it replaced with rotors. He put the large size rotors and broke the studs while doing that and also one caliper was replaced as he said it has gone bad. He charged 1044$. He took 4 - 5 hours, tells me everything is fine. I went back in the storm, couldn't hear anything. Next morning hear bad sound. I went back. The other guy told me it was the wrong rotors and they will replace it. I don't know about the studs by this time. Took another 5-6 hours, they tell me they need to replace the studs. Bring it back tomorrow. Send me with 2 studs on my life side front wheel. I went on 6/18. They take another 5 hours, couldn't fix the studs. Only 4. At 130 pm, they tell me everything is fine. When I drive there is a real bad sound. I asked them to fix it. At 230 pm, they tell me now it's good. I drive and it's the same sound again. I asked them to fix it. At 330 pm, they tell me one stud broke and we have fixed four. We can't do no more. You will have to get it fixed from Honda. I went today to Honda and they said they widened the hole in the hub that is why they were not fixing it. But they charged me 975$. Guy had told me that they will refund what the Honda will charge. I am asking that they refund the amount and not lie to anyone as it puts someone's life in danger. read more

Had a good experience here last year, but once again I'm looking for a new auto shop for my inspection. Note: I did report the following incident to the state. A summary of what happened is, they broke stuff on my car they didn't know how to fix, then illegally passed my safety inspection so they wouldn't have to deal with the mess they made. In the process, my car was less safe leaving the shop then when I arrived. Details: They broke 2 things: the rearview mirror and one of the screws for the license plate light. The mirror was left dangling off the windshield. so I had to have it repaired before the vehicle was drivable again. The screw for the license place was completely stripped out because the guy was trying to use a screwdriver that did not fit correctly. Apparently it must have been his first day at work and his first time ever using a screwdriver. He went ahead and passed my inspection because he didn't know what else to do. This is totally unacceptable. read more

The service here is great! They're always super quick. I go here for oil changes and inspections. Weekends are kinda hectic because most people are off i assume and this is when they go to get their oil changes. I prefer to go during the week before lunch hours or closer to the time for them to close which i believe is 7! It's a little pricey but I like to go to places which will have a certain level of accountability if something goes wrong! read more

I have never gotten my oil changed before, but with 8000 miles on my leased vehicle, I figured there is a first time for everything. I nervously pulled up to Jiffy Lube's after lunch, not really sure what to do. My first instinct was to park, and look for a customer service booth or lobby, but as I approached the building, three smiling men waved me over. I rolled down the window, and a young man told me to pull up to one of the garage lanes. There were lifts inside the garage, and I asked if I needed to drive onto the tracks. The mechanic laughed and reassured me that he could take it from here. I handed over my keys, and another smiling man came to escort me to the waiting room. Shortly after sitting, a nice woman came in because they were unable to open my hood. Apparently, my Ford Escape has some extra components locking the hood down, and they did not want to risk breaking anything. I appreciated their caution and consideration, but I did not know how to unlock it, so I called Ford customer service. The Jiffy Lube team was very patient as I dealt with the service phone line. They even helped me ID numbers on the car (something called a VIN?) to give the customer service rep, and chatted with me when I was waiting on hold. Sadly, the customer service rep could not help and recommended that I get my car looked at at the dealership. No oil change for me. But the Jiffy Lube team was so kind and understanding that I didn't even mind. As I pulled away, one of the gentleman even (very politely) complemented me. The whole experience was very positive. If I end up resolving the hood debacle, I will certainly be bringing my business here in the future. read more

I asked for they could do a heater core flush. Was informed by Michael that they could flush it and the radiator as well for $119. I was like well that is cheap, so I went there and explained to them again what I was asking for. I gave him my keys and when they were done. He said that he flushed the radiator. I asked about the heater core, my original issue. They do not do heater core flushes, do not have that capability... seriously!!!! I was very specific on what I wanted, do not get me wrong.. the folks that work there are friendly, but what was done was not what I was fully asking for. The reason I asked for the heater core flush was due to my driver side vent and floor vent only blowing partially hot and cold air. read more
