I've not been here in a while. It's always been great, but maybe I never really noticed their happy hour. It's really impressive. Beer, wine and cocktails are half off from 4-7. Their draft beer selection is wonderful, unique, delicious local and imported. Several of these beers I'd never even heard of. Out server was brand new and we had fun with him. He was great and rolled with our punches. Chaplin's has multiple seating areas, upstairs, downstairs and outside. It's a nice casual upscale setting. Of course the food is great.

We had a large party for restaurant week lunch and I think everyone enjoyed the experience overall. Chaplin's is pretty consistent with their food and service whenever I go. I had the fried pork gyoza for my appetizer. I would recommend getting them steamed and not fried. I thought fried meant just pan fried for a crispy bottom, not deep fried. The deep frying definitely makes the gyoza a bit less flavorful. The only hiccup with the appetizers was that one person asked for vegetarian gyoza and found that one of her dumplings had meat in it. The kitchen was able to quickly make her a new dish of all vegetable gyoza to replace it. I had the chicken katsu curry for my entree. I would have preferred a thinner chicken cutlet but it was nicely breaded and cooked. The rice was also cooked well. I've never had kimchi with curry before but it was an interesting touch as it made the dish slightly spicy. The portion size was generous and I took the remaining third home for lunch.

My daughter's favorite place to sit at the bar and write. We had a good experience and meal. Our server was attentive and explained the menu as well as the drink options. We enjoyed the variety of dishes and the fun atmosphere. Will return to try new dishes.

Bringing in the New Year with the ladies! It has been a while since I have been here, definitely pre-pandemic, and what a treat to start the new year off right. Everything we feasted on was phenomenal: the tori karaage, fried wontons, and the chicken yakisoba. Chef's kiss. I washed it all down with a green tea shot and Tito's and cranberry. I left full and feeling good. Heather was spot on from beginning to end and very attentive to us. Kudos to you. I will not stay too long this time. Cheers and bon appétit.

Stopped in for a quick dinner on a Tuesday night! As Andrew stated "it goes down on a Tuesday" and boy did it go down! The Chaplin A.S.S was spicy and so flavorful. I can most definitely see why it is a house favorite!! The lime was a great acidic cut through the broth and really brought out the flavors! My friend had the Chaplains and said it was delicious!! Bartender, Andrew was welcoming, knowledgeable and friendly! Would most definitely recommend and will be back for some drinks! Looks like a great after hours work spot. Music was great and it was pretty crowded for a Tuesday night!

Delicious food and drinks and great service in a cool atmosphere!!! I loved the karaage chicken, gyoza, and buns. Also as a non-drinker the phony negronis were excellent. Servers were friendly and went above and beyond to provide great service.

Popped in for dinner on a Tuesday evening and the place was packed. Reservations are definitely recommended. Inside is cute and dimly lit There was thankfully a two top available with no wait. Our server/bartender, Andrew, was amazing. He was attentive, offered great suggestions and answers our questions. I got the Chaplin and it was so good. The broth had great flavor. The port was seasoned and cooked well and the noodles were yummy. I slurped up every last bit. Andrew recommended a delicious dessert that I can't remember the name of. It was like a chocolate lava cake that had cognac on the top. Will definitely be back soon!

Such a unique brunch! I've been to Chaplin's a few times but never for brunch and I'm happy I finally gave it a try. The ramen is always delicious and having unlimited Veuve makes it better. The Chaplin's A.S.S. is my favorite ramen dish! Our server, Aaryn was incredible! He was attentive, funny, and kind. He made sure our glasses were never empty. Food and service aside, I love the outdoor decor to really highlight the Veuve offering. I've always sat downstairs but I love the upstairs bar scene! My one suggestion is to expand the brunch menu. I understand it's a ramen restaurant but a couple of traditional breakfast items would be great!

Came here for Sunday dinner with my friends. It has been awhile but the food is just as good! We got Jameson shots. We all got shrimp and chicken dumplings. I got the yakisoba and omg i ate it all! Will not stay away as long because everything was top tier! The service, the food and prices

Absolutely love going to Chaplin's whenever I can! My go-to is the classic Chaplin ramen, but recently I decided to try the Chaplin A.S.S., and the chicken was amazing. I also highly recommend the Pay Day injected dumplings (dumplings injected with a whiskey mixture to enhance all the flavor! The vibe is always cozy inside, and the staff brings such a welcoming energy every time I visit. A perfect spot for a date night or an outing with friends.

Oopsies we were so hungry so forgot to take pics but -- the fried tofu and wakame salad was sooo good. Tofu was super crispy but didn't feel heavily fried and the wakame was refreshing and flavorful. Wish portion sizes were bigger! Ramen was decent and I would love thicker noodle options :)

I can't believe I have not done my review of coming her meeting up with my friend for happy hour! We went here I believe it was June 2023 because it was around the time the summer Olympics were happening. This place is such a unique spot as the decor gives the early 30s/40s vibes which I absolutely love. I can tell there are regulars as they can up to the bar downstairs and ordered off the top do their head. I did like that there was a parking garage close by in walking distance and arrest parking is also available. My for and I opted to go upstairs at a small booth near the upstairs bar where our waiter/bartender was the bomb. Because it's been awhile since I came I can't remember any of the drinks we had that night but all were really great! The chicken ramen and the karrage was the star of the show! I couldn't believe the chicken ramen was so juicy and not dry and so spicy which I loved. I can't wait to come back and enjoy that chicken ramen and try a few other items as well!

My first time at Chaplin's and I loved it. My home girl kept telling me they have the best Ramen and I was skeptical but she was not lying. The food was really good. We split the Chaplin A.S.S. and shrimp gysoua. I also had ribs which were phenomenal, they went good with the Ramen as well. When I get back to DC I will be right there at Chaplin's

We got there nice and early on a Friday to enjoy the happy hour which is available from 4-6 on weekdays. As a part of happy hour they had several cocktails and small bites for $10 or less. I had the pumpkin spice spritz and an order of the fried chicken bites - both were really really good. I'd order both items again. For awareness, they limit dining in to about an hour and a half - because the restaurant is fairly small, they want folks to make their seats available for other guests pretty quickly. They weren't rude about enforcing this time limit, but they definitely tell you up front and quickly gather your orders/plates to help move you though the meal quickly. This is a nice date spot - it's coziness would make for the perfect ambiance in you're looking to grab a bite with that special someone. Pro tip: Be careful not to walk past it! The signage outside isn't the best, so it's very easy to miss the door completely (as I did).

They come with extras so you can customize your bowl with hoisin, chili flakes, and more, which I love. One time I went with a friend who's pescatarian, and we ordered the Cha Ca La Bong (catfish). It was incredibly flavorful and filling. It's served cold, a delicious sauce. But don't let this cold dish fool you ...it does not disappoint. We also ordered the General Tso shrimp, and I got the sweet-and-sour spareribs. Everything was delicious. As for drinks, I don't quite remember which frozen one I ordered, but it didn't give much of a buzz. The regular alcoholic drinks, though? They definitely got the job done. Every time I've gone, the service has been excellent. Everyone is welcoming, smiling, and genuinely seems proud to serve you. I also appreciate that if you don't finish your ramen, they box it up thoughtfully, packing the broth and noodles separately so it stays fresh. Highly recommend!

It's so flavorful, the noodles are so bouncy and don't get overcooked in the broth. I often don't finish ramen broth anyway bc it's quite salty (they do offer ramen broth bowls if that's what your feeling). All that to say, the aburasoba that they do here is really good. Some of the apps are on the smaller side, but the salad and the tebasaki are worth it for sharing. You can order with the staff or with the kiosk. I walked into a casual modern space that fits the concept well, making it a good spot for a quick meal while still offering something different from the usual ramen experience. The atmosphere is straightforward and functional, with the focus clearly on the food rather than the decor, which suits the efficient style of the meal. The main highlight here is the aburasoba, which arrives without broth but is packed with flavor once everything is mixed together. The noodles have a chewy texture and are designed to hold onto the sauce, creating a richer bite with every ingredient combined. I tried the Homura Aburasoba, one of the standout choices, and found the spice level well balanced against the savory sauce. The Nikumori Aburasoba adds larger portions of pork for a more filling option, and the raw egg yolk, scallions, fried onions, and other toppings help build layers of flavor and texture throughout the dish. The mixing process is part of the experience, and each component adds something distinct, from the richness of the yolk to the crunch of the onions. Beyond the noodles, Kajiken also has a few sides that are worth adding to the meal. The takoyaki is a popular choice and pairs well with the heavier flavors of the aburasoba, offering a lighter contrast to the rich noodle dish. The restaurant also offers different spice levels and toppings, making it easy to customize the dish depending on your preference. I appreciated the flexibility, since it lets you dial in the heat and texture exactly how you like it. Service is quick and attentive, and the overall experience feels efficient without feeling rushed. The staff handles the steady flow of customers well, and the food comes out without much delay. Since the restaurant focuses on one specific style of noodles, it does a good job showcasing what makes aburasoba unique, delivering a meal that feels both intentional and satisfying. Kajiken is a great option if you want to try a different take on Japanese noodles and are looking for something flavorful, satisfying, and outside of the usual ramen bowl. The aburasoba format offers a distinct experience that stands on its own, and the quality of the ingredients and preparation makes it worth a visit when you are in the mood for something a little different.

I ordered the JINYA Chicken Ramen, which is usually my go-to at any ramen spot, so I had a lot to compare it to. The broth was a little mild at first, so I tried to doctor it up. The condiments they had out weren't really my usual choices. I normally reach for sesame oil, vinegar, or even a little hoisin, but they didn't have those. There was dumpling sauce, something that looked like a chili garlic sauce (but wasn't quite), and one other option. That said, interestingly enough, the next day the broth tasted way more flavorful. The chicken, though, was really good. Chicken in ramen can sometimes be dry or bland, but this was moist and very tender, which I appreciated. Another thing to note that I liked was that you can get free noodles if you have broth left over! I also ordered the dragon fruit fizz, and it was delicious and smelled amazing. One glass gave me a slight buzz, but mostly it was just a really good drink. Bonus points for location. It's right across the street from a free three-hour parking garage, which is always a win. There's also an upstairs portion to this restaurant, which I didn't see. Overall, I'd come back if I was in the area and in the mood for ramen.
