I read the reviews for this location and noticed that they are much lower than the Baltimore (original?) location. I wouldn't give ZERO because the sides (Beans and Mac n Cheese) we delicious but the Pit Beef sandwich was awful. Tough and fatty.I don't know if it is bad quality meat or poorly prepared but it wasn't good at all. It took me 5 min to get the fat from between my teeth. I'm sure the original location is much better. Very disappointing and it takes a lot for me to EVER give a bad review. Trust the other reviews and mine. I found myself in Glen Burnie, getting an oil change and figured I'll make the trip to Chaps Pit Beef. I'm conflicted on how to review this. The beef was pure flavor, town smoky tender, and spiced just right. But the portion size felt like someone whispered portion control and really took it heart. I'm used to overflowing sandwiches that are big enough for two servings. This felt more like a slider. And the beans which are normally my favorite side at a pit beef place were really tangy. Also, they were served in a container that might've been borrowed from my niece's doll house-tiny. I appreciated the fresh brewed iced tea, which was available and two flavor, sweet and unsweetened. The free pickle slices were a fun touch like a bonus snack. All in all not bad, but I'm still looking for my ultimate pit beef stop. read more

It has been a few years since I've been to chaps and recently heard that there are a few outposts so where I was near Glen Burnie I decided to try one of them as I was in the mood to drive to Baltimore I got a beef sandwich, medium rare, a small gravy fry, and a small soda. The sandwich seemed a bit skinnier than what I recall, and was probably more medium to medium well the medium rare, but it was still very flavorful. I added some of their house barbecue and tiger sauce. The fries seemed fresh in the gravy was a different touch. As for the atmosphere, the place was relatively clean, however, seemed a little neglected. One of the soda fountains was out of order and the sign on it seemed like it had been there a while. At least one of the soda selections on the other soda machine was out. They did have a nice selection of condiments such as pickles, onions, tiger sauce, horseradish, etc. in Little plastic cups.. One thing that was missing was any heat. I don't mean heat from the food but rather heating in the shop. Perhaps in the kitchen, they stay warm with the grills, but the dining room was absolutely frigid. If I returned to this location, it will probably be for takeout. read more

First time at a Chaps. Got a beef sandwich and a side of baked beans to go. It was early afternoon on a Saturday and I was the only customer. My order was taken quickly and i was served in a couple minutes at the pickup window. When ordering, I asked about some of the sides and the order-taker really had no idea on how to explain anything, which made it difficult to choose what to get. She did offer a sample of the beans, which I accepted. They were vinegar'y? But it was for my husband and knew he'd like them. The beef sandwich was good, though comes with no sauces or anything, just meat and bread. The "small" side order is a bit of a joke for $3, guessing a quarter cup that can be finished in 3 bites. I made a special trip to Chap's because I don't live in the area and was in the Baltimore area on business. We visited on 3/8/25 @ 3:23pm. Our order number was 213656. I asked for fries with gravy. The cashier said they didn't serve that. I had gotten this side for many years. Someone who came in later, when we were our way out, had a side of fries with gravy. I am so disappointed. This cashier was inattentive and offered no greeting when we walked in. She never looked up and never asked if we were going to dine-in. Unacceptable! I ordered the Chaps Pit Beef sandwich (best in Baltimore) if so, I feel bad for Baltimore and an order of the wings. The sandwich was a huge disappointment, small, dry and absolutely no taste. The wings were a very good size but one of them tasted as if was bad, it had a funky taste to it and we didn't,t finish them. If you haven't been to the original location this location will do, but if you've been to the Pulaski Highway location (where Bourdain visited) you've had the best. This will NOT measure up. It's a perfectly satisfying sandwich. Plenty of meat, cooked nicely. You've got a million choices when it comes to sauces. There are pickles and horseradish. It's all fine. But I spent my entire lunch listening to my boyfriend lament about the lack of smoke flavor - because this location is in a strip MALL, not in the parking lot of a strip CLUB, which means there's no smoker. I am glad that the weather was nice, so we could use the picnic table out front because the music was so loud I couldn't converse with my boyfriend, and my life is incomplete if I can't have sarcastic conversations with him at all times. It wasn't even bad music. It was Prince, and the Eurythmics, and stuff that I normally love - but it was being played at Forever 21 decibels. I realize that I am now officially old, because the music was too loud. Sorry/NotSorry... I mean, I can't imagine that Chaps Pit Beef is high on the places to eat list of the younger crowd. Should have read the reviews first, but live and learn. I normally patronize their other locations so this is my first time here. Beef was good, but unfortunately when I picked my order up at the window and I went to sit down and I pulled out the fries, there was nasty black grease and dripping all over the place. Got all over my clothes and you can see from the picture how it completely covered the bag as well as the container they were in. Nasty nasty nasty. Please invest in a grease filter and filter your oil every day. This oil looks like it's six months old without being filtered or changed. Originally inspired to eat at Chaps Baltimore after drooling over Instagram photos, we drove 40mins for a sandwich & the experience was well worth it...so we were over the moon to discover they were opening a location 15 minutes away from us! Navigating to this location was a lot easier, not just because of the time of the drive, but because the parking lot was a lot less crowded & it was much easier to walk-in for to-go orders. Though, I will say-customer service was a lot better at the Baltimore location-friendlier staff, who were more willing to assist with the sides & sauces. This visit we placed an online order for pick up including 6 entrees: 1 gravy beef platter, 1 chicken meal, 4 sandwiches- & 3 sides including: fries, chili, and green beans. Upon arrival, there was a definite mix-up with the bagging of our order- we ended up with only 3 of our ordered entrees & 5 sides of fries. (We were missing 3 sandwiches, the chili, & the green beans.) It took awhile to get the front staff to help obtain our missing order- they kept asking me to wait-passing me from staff to staff- while they filled new orders- which was disappointing as our current food was getting colder. In the meantime of waiting, I tried to work with the pick-up window staff to obtain the toppings sides (normally out for self-service-now behind the counter for COVID- I asked for pickles, onions, and sauces for 6 entrees)- the first staff member told me 'oh no, that's too many'- but I showed him my receipt explaining we bought 6 entrees & everyone wants their own bbq & toppings. This process was even more frustrating than trying to get our whole order- again I was passed around to various staff members being told, that's a lot of sauce...which was a bit shocking since when they finally packaged everything, it was all in pre-made to-go containers, so it wasn't like they had to make all the sauce containers, they just had to be willing to bag it for me and they weren't. When we finally obtained all of our food, made it home- the containers were a hot mess- true the fries were all extra food that wasn't originally in our order, so yay-but they were leaking out of poorly constructed containers everywhere, creating a greasy mess. The guy who was frustrated packing our sauces just threw them in-so they leaked, and the green beans side was the SMALLEST scoop of beans in a bbq sauce to-go container, as if they just didn't try to locate an actual sides container :( So -not the best take-out experience when trying to place a larger order...but I can't knock the quality of the food The fries- while a greasy pile of mess- were well-seasoned, crispy cut, I couldn't stop eating them-very unfortunate for my tummy that we ended up with so many haha The Big John-BIG indeed-packed with so much meat- I had to cut the sandwich apart to add sauce within the layers & figure out how to take a bite. I even ended up taking off some meat for leftovers & still had a massively hearty sandwich with the same great juicy, well smoked quality- We haven't eaten the chili yet-leftover adventure tomorrow! Absolutely the best! We decided to drive out and try another location this spot is pretty nice actually more space,less crowded and very nice staff. We decided to order a few items and share. My friend was hesitant to get gravy on everything so we got it on the side. I was between minced bbq (beef) and the pork bbq sandwich. Went with the pork Delicious and after tasting the gravy we ended up putting gravy "On Everything". The gravy by far was the game changing super tasty and deserved 5 stars on it's on . The staff is extremely nice and kind! Reason for any stars. If you have nothing to compare the food to it is kind of okay. The flavor is much like school food and I am not sure I like the lemon soap taste in "home-made" mac & cheese. It was not even through out. The size of the sandwich was very generous texture so so but it is late I the day so that can be expected. As for what to put on your sandwich there are many unlabeled little containers and there are no signs above the boxes so you can guess what you are picking out. I recommend the pickles they were the best part of the meal. Just don't think about how ANYONE could have opened up the little I guess store filled containers may have been and opened licked or who knows what. BBQ sauce choices the are to commercial brands and two without any real labels. I tried the one I thought might have been house but tasted nothing like what I had gotten at original place. For a lot less money you can go to giant food get some roast beef and bread and "sweet baby rays". You have saved money and had a better meal. yes I did have to ask for a refund. I could not eat it. Again the staff was very nice and they were great. I have been to the original and it is amazing. It just does not translate away from the owners in my opinion. The ONLY napkin holder in the very back of the store was over filled on my visit so only able to bet bits of napkins when I ask about additional napkins I was referred to what I had already attempted. For a $27 bill (including tip) from uber eats you think you'd be full. I got Guy's triple d, was maybe 6 inches, take was nothing special. Thought sandwich would have some sort of flavor... Nope and I didn't think I should have to pay $4 for 4 oz of bbq sauce. And the. Nickel and dime you to add condiments. And to top it I got the small potato salad. And boy was it small I finished it in 2 bites. $1 an ounce for potato salad. Uber eats just says small not that it is only 4 oz. Definitely wouldn't recommend for the price. I've gone to all the chaps around the DMV and this one has disappointed me at least 3 out of 5 times. While I understand the job market is suffering, you still have to hire qualified people. Chicken platter with chicken nearly bleeding! Turkey rachel is not supposed to have burnt ends, that's only for burnt ends of ribs! After a few years we made it back to Chaps. This was the first time at this location. Our first visit two days ago yielded a sandwich about two inches or more filled with meat sauce and kraut. They probably weighed it and was exact where my sandwich before was generous. I felt cheated. His bread was burned black. The sandwich would have tasted good but all he tasted was burned bread. Son got the cheeseburger. Good size. Very filling. Husband got the ribs. Very wet and messy. But falling off the bone which is a good thing. Drenched in their house sauce which had a very distinct flavor. Kinda like a watery ketchup-y, hot sauce-ish, bbq sauce. It was weird - but it grows on you. Dessert - now I love Banana Pudding and still have not to this day had any that were made properly in a restaurant that I've visited. Chaps banana pudding was the worst. First of all, I can count.
