The food just isn't that great factoring the price. The bread and toppings tasted fresh and were up to par, but the burger patty tasted like a frozen patty ordered in bulk from Sysco. I honestly think Bubba Burgers might be of better quality. It's neat that they grill the meat in front of you but, again, the meat was not worth the $6.50 (Plain burger, lettuce, onion, tomato and pickle) price tag of "better burger" establishments. Food tasted fine. It just tasted like ordinary, bought-in-bulk frozen food. It's not what I expect when paying money. Almost every time we have gone to the Davie location (on and off 18+ years) they have messed up our orders... My 23 year old son just recalled mutipule times when he was a kid of our orders always being wrong. When it's good, it's good which is why I find myself back there. Usually they forget the cheese on the cheeseburger, which is a biggie... tonight I got the "Frings" as I wanted Fries, hubby likes Onion Rings... they BOTH sucked. This is one of my favorite places to get a burger. The food is always fresh and they cook the burgers right in front of you and build your burger with your favorite toppings. The prices are very reasonable and the place is clean and pleasant. Their messy fries are awesome so I suggest you try them. This place also has a drive thru but they close at 9:30 pm on weekdays. They also have vegetarian patties and they have a separate place to cook these patties. I enjoy coming here on a regular basis. They have never disappointed me. read more

I went in search of a delicious chili cheese dog and that's what I got. I'm a big fan of chili cheese dogs, so I've had my fair share of them from various places. I got the "bigger" size but it seemed like a regular sized hotdog to me. I went through the drive-thru; the wait was about 10 mins. which is probably bc they prepare the food once you order. The employees were nice. It took me 10 mins to get home so the fries weren't that great by that point. They lacked flavor and were just okay. I paid about $8.50 for the dog and fries. I've always wanted to eat at a place that had hot dogs as a side option. I can now die in piece. For us non-regulars, it is a bit intimidating from the moment you (1) grab a parking spot (I did by the drive thru exit I'm skilled like that) (2) enter the line and (3) grab your food. There's a learning curve, but the order taker was very friendly in having it explained to me. About 10 minutes later satisfied to see my meal cooked or rather charred right in front of me, I took a seat and dug in. Now, I know a thing or do about all-beef hot dogs. And this had that heady beefy flavor that some might be repelled by due to its forwardness. But that is a sign of good quality, and not laced with filler. It helped that it tasted a bit smokey. The burger, too, was nice, but I would not say it made me forget about In-n-out. Its char simply did not stand out to me as I've had at other char-grilled burger places. My friends and I would get stoned AF, and munchies always landed us at Char Hut. It's TRADITION. Tonight, my own children voyaged to Char Hut because Mommy, who no longer gets stoned, still dreams of younger days, hope, and chili cheese fries. Now, the chili cheese fries used to be served in a large container--mountainous goodness in styrofoam. One order could legit serve three people. You could also get sour cream to slather all over this dish of diabetes, cholesterol and regret for chili cheese fry perfection. Tonight? They killed the dream. Now? The CCF are served in little flimsy cardboard containers. And the chili and cheese? Both served in tiny pots you have to add yourself. So, you get sad, lonely french fries in what equates to a sad, tiny POS dinghy of FAIL, with plastic discs of chili and cheese. No sour cream. You have to excavate the plastic baby capsule of cheese because only half of it pours out. And no sour cream. Did I mention no more sour cream? And, praise Heaven, how does one now eat chili cheese fries in cardboard the size of an old school diaphragm with the damn thing wilting in your hands? Have I eaten at the same place as all these other reviewers, who are giving them 5 stars? Char-Hut burgers are ok, but nothing I would crave or ever drive out of my way to get. Personally, I prefer McDonald's or Burger King, or even Wendy's, as far as chain burgers go. The fact that Char-Hut burgers are grilled to order, NOT microwaved (which kills the flavor in the other chain burgers), and completely customizable as far as condiments and type of buns go are all pluses. Also, the staff at this branch have been friendly when I visited, and the place is always very clean. Their fries were pretty awful the one time I tried them, so wouldn't order them again. I also don't love the cheese the put on cheeseburgers -"Swiss American," whatever that means. I'd prefer plain American, or cheddar, or several choices. Note that Char-Hut burgers aren't exactly the cheapest chain burgers around. And adding bacon and cheese will bump the price up $1.50. I have started recently coming to char-hut very frequently due to the quality and service. Today I felt very inconvenienced for deciding to get food to go. I ordered one bun and got a totally different which is no big deal because the quality of the burgers are great and makes up for what it's on. I'm on the service industry I wouldn't send that back, shit happens. But I felt like the window girl Kerri something was very rude. I asked politely for extra ketchup on side and been given a very rude attitude. Like I shouldn't be asking for extra side of ketchup or mustard. Very poor customer service skills and wondering why she's taking orders or in the window cause her tone of voice and attitude was so ill. I think I would go 3.5 here, but I'm rounding up. This is an old school mom & pop shop and (as such) it is a little wonky in certain respects. Most noticeably, the ordering process is funky. You order at a stand in the front. Then you take your receipt to a cashier where you pay for the transaction. Then you continue into the line where they assemble your meal in front of you almost Subway style. Then you go sit down and eat. Got all that? I liked the burger, but I wish they had more condiment options. If they are going to make you participate in the burger assembly process, why not give people some options beyond the basics (mayo, ketchup, mustard, lettuce, pickles, etc). The onion rings and fries were both good. Service was friendly and surprisingly efficient given the set up of things. Prices were a tad on the high side of average.
