Usually this place is jam packed in the summer especially on a holiday weekend. I stopped in right when they opened so I avoided the worst of the crowds. Get here early! Burger fries and drinks were all we got, just a normal burger lunch before headed for our long drive back home. The prices are Tahoe prices so no surprise here. We walked in at around 6:45 on a Thursday night, 5 of us, and all the employees just looked at us like we had three heads. My wife made a comment that we hadn't been here before and no one said a word...literally just looked at us. It was so weird. We had two kids with us and three adults. We tip well for decent service but in this case, we had to walk out because the energy there sucked. Embarrassing for the owner really. Couple of hard working grill chefs, but even after 1pm, these folks are still in the weeds and people are waiting and frustrated. I haven't been there in awhile, So after I found out the Incline Village Library was closed, I went to the Chair Pit for a Swiss Burger. I got there 10 minutes early and waited until they opened. I enjoyed the Swiss Burger, and it's my favorite. I loved the Decor of old License Plates. They had the Vikings vs Packers game on. The Char Pit is one of my favorite burger haunts. read more

Went to stay the night in the area on a mini vacay, and this place is amazing! We came in the evening and I couldn't quite figure out the kiosk, so the employee gladly helped me and took my order. This used to be a great place that I would recommend to others. Unfortunately the staff seems to have had a turnover, and the customer service is now extremely poor. The employees are unwelcoming and appear inconvenienced to take your order. We did not receive all of the items on our ticket, and even upon showing the receipt I was treated as though I was trying to get a freebie. The food is also not as good as it previously was, pretty basic burger on a cheap bun straight out of the bag. Fine, but nothing to go out of your way for. They overcharged us and got our order wrong and argued when we tried to get the difference... and it's not cheap...nor is it fast... and nothing was incredibly tasty. Absolutely terrible. Came in with one person ahead of us. It was 6 of us and we just ordered 5 milk shakes and one sundae. Then we saw a plethora of people come in after us and order full meals. We sat there for an hour just seeing these people get their burgers wondering when our numbers would be called. The staff made ZERO acknowledgment of the wait and were frankly very rude. Finally we got our order and the orders were all messed up. The 5 milk shakes were all Oreo except 1 banana, but the Oreo milk shakes had banana in them and the banana had a full banana not blended in it. The sundae which was smothered in chocolate syrup took them a second to make but there is so much small white unknown specks in it that are slightly crunchy and I am so nauseous from it. New owners here and it shows. The guy cooking the food is rude. Asked for trays for my burgers and he told me no even though I was eating outside. Another worker got them for me but he was touching everything with bare hands. The young lady at the register looked lost and overwhelmed despite hardly anyone else being there. We had caught a local concert a stones throw away at a venue. We were looking for a quick bite during a 3rd act, and wound up here. They have an Old school vibe like Burger Pit back in the days in San Jose. It had a Char boil pit and the Burgers looked amazing coming off the line. It did take a while for the Burgers to be cooked, but it was cooked to order and the fries were super crispy. There were a few people ahead of us and it took at least 15-20 mins for our Burgers, but it was definitely worth the wait. My son wanted a shake, but the cashier said they were out of milk. I had seen a few shakes made after our order, but it was the Burgers they stole the show. I had the Double Cheeseburger and my son ordered a single. It was pretty awesome and the Char grill made the difference and also the perfect of fresh produce and no mayo. I had tried the Onions rings and they were super crispy, too. Some seating inside and a few patio tables outside made it perfect for a picnic-like vibe. Definitely worth a stop if you're in the Kings Beach area. read more

Not family friendly. Waited over 5 minutes to talk to the staff to figure out where to seat my family, since the tables are pretty small. They were too busy to help me, so I decided to just scoot two tables together. Halfway through eating, a staff person came and yelled at us and said we were not allowed to move the tables, and told us to stop eating and move them back immediately. I think we came to this place on the wrong day (i.e., on the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend), so we waited much longer (45 minutes) than we anticipated. I assume this is not characteristic, though, I so do not hold this against the establishment. We ate outside on picnic tables, which was appropriate to a barbecue venue, not exactly cushy (e.g., our table was one of many that lacked shade). In terms of food, but my I ordered a teriyaki chicken sandwich, she got a burger and an Oreo milkshake, and a friend with whom we were eating lunch got the ribs. The sandwich and burger were both fine, unremarkable. The Oreo shake was pretty awesome, with cookie bits exceptionally well blended into the shake (so cookie chunks did not get stuck in the straw). The show-stopper was the ribs. As soon as they arrived on the table, I realized that this is what I should not have ordered. The serving size (even for a half-rack) was massive, it was slathered in sauce, and the meat was so tender that it was almost falling off the bone. Lesson learned: go on an off-hour and order ribs with an Oreo shake. read more

This hole in the wall serves up the tastiest burgers and French fries. I ordered my bacon cheese burger with thousand island sauce. The ratio of meat to bun is perfect. With just the right amount of lettuce, pickles and onions. I personally like thin fries and these have just the right amount of crispness. I highly recommend the Char-Pit!! read more

I absolutely love this burger. A friend of mine took me there a few years back for the first time. And it's just become tradition to stop at char pit and get a burger before I go back to Reno when I go up to lake Tahoe for anything. Last week I took a break from camping at falling leaf, just to drive around the lake to Kings Beach for this burger. And I have since got my little brother hooked on it. The service is fast and helpful. It feels like a really good tight-knit place where the employees all get along. There are places for you to sit inside if you like, but I love sitting in there outside areas. There's very limited parking. But there's always spaces on the street. Other than that, hands down one of my favorite burger spots. read more

Sad, This place used to be AMAZING. Order 2 Hula burgers and the wheat buns were stale and turned into mush with the rest of the burger. The other burger ordered was a regular double cheese burger and it also had some bad bread that was used. Onion rings were great! Fries weren't. I think if I try the food again as a local In Tahoe? I think I'm sticking to the burgers. I orded the LA Hot Sausage (2 stars). It was not hot, a very faint spiciness, nothing near hot. The French roll was nothing special, standard grocery store "French" roll. The roll was grilled, so it was a little toasty, by still average. They added mayo, lettuce and tomato, no issue seemed fresh. I tried to add mustard from the table mustard container but nothing would come out. Worst service I've had, coming from someone who has worked in food service from 14 years old to 21. I would never act like this to someone... This was my childhood barbecue spot after a day at Kings Beach in elementary school. Fast-forward I'm in college and me and my friend wanted to go on a trip to Tahoe. It's great, I tell her I want to get ribs from here like I did when I was a kid. We come in think about our order for two minutes , and as soon as we're ready, some lady starts ordering. Normally I wouldn't care however because it was such a large order we would've had to wait much longer. Cashier says nothing, but lady looks at me while I am visibly annoyed. Once again, I wouldn't have cared, but she was also being plain rude to the cashier so I didn't feel like putting my best foot forward. We order, cashier seems annoyed that I'm looking for exact change even though it's only three quarters and a nickel how complicated is that? She changes the total on me, I believe maybe she was just correcting the tax? so I had to recount my change. Once again, fine. She was rude about it but I've been there, it's fine. I ordered the fried clams, excited. they call out the order 97 a few times and I come up and ask do you mean 87? they get very snarky with me and said no we clearly said 97. A few minutes later they say no it's actually 87. once again in a rude voice like it was my fault no apology or anything which isn't necessary, but why did they have to be so rude? I look at it and I think this does not look like clams they're large, but I don't know so I take a very small bite and it is fish. I look at my receipt and it says fish basket. I go up to where I got the food and I said I actually had ordered a clam basket. all five workers behind the counter look at me like I had just said some sort of slur at them. okay? usually, I wouldn't say something if my order is wrong, but I really don't like fish sticks. The previous cashier comes up to me and says " I said to check the screen" in which i replied "i was recounting my change and you were watching me. nothing had come up on the screen like it had with my friend because I paid in cash instead of card." in which she rolled her eyes and raised her voice at someone to make the clams. the whole time i heard them talking smack about me, like okay lol is it really that big of a deal. i paid $10 for the clams and $5 for a soda. you made more profit off the soda than the small handful of fried clams they gave. anyways, we never come back here not that the owners care, but maybe the reader will care to not give their business here for staff so rude :/ read more

Ribs are great! We ordered family pack, which comes with chicken tenders, fries, and onion rings. Full slab was a decent amount, but definitely need to order extra half slab. Meat was juicy and tender. Root beer float was ok. Chocolate sake was great. Need a little customer service inside and outside. Napkins, spoons, and forks you need to request. There's a line when we got there. Tables are available outside, but need to clean your own found table. Not enough parking for everyone. Overall, it's a good experience. read more
