Came here a few days ago because our driver found out that I am a huge whiskey fan! &I thank him for that! Such an amazing experience! I absolutely loved it. the staff was extremely knowledgeable and very friendly! I tried the green tie, loved it! Their port was also so good! so good that we bought a bottle of the green tea and a bottle of their port. we also bought the whiskey peanut butter brittle :) hehe. It's a pretty small place and the vineyard is pretty high up and located on swirly roads so I would 1. call ahead so they know you're coming 2. GET A DD! I would of given this place 5 stars if they would start letting the public sample racer 5 whiskey! yes, racer 5! Did I forget to mention that charbay also makes Racer 5 beer?! Wish I lived closer so I could be here all the time!

    A must buy bottle!!

Loved this tasting room and distillery! John was so friendly and welcoming. Great to see the distilling process and learn about the family history. We also couldn't leave without a bottle of the green tea aperitif !!

The way they take time to think about every single ingredient going into a cocktail or their food offerings. An extremely nice place to take a date, or your family where you can feel relaxed and accepted, yet not lacking in a beautiful atmosphere. I've met some of my closest friends here! My favorite signature cocktail is the mango jalapeño which they thankfully sell in 4 packs and they taste just as good as if they were made fresh. I'm not scared to try drinks made with liquor that I normally wouldn't drink as they are so scientific about the ingredients going into the cocktail that it flows so nicely! They've turned me back onto whiskey just with how delicious it is. Also they kill it with the gin and vodka flavors. 10/10 will always tell my friends and family to visit when they're in town, and if you're a townie and you haven't been here- wtf are ya doin?

Located in the historic downtown area of Winters, the tasting room blends naturally into the town's relaxed atmosphere while still presenting a polished and professional environment. The space itself is inviting and well-designed, creating a comfortable setting where visitors can slow down, learn about the distillation process, and enjoy the spirits being produced on-site. The moment I walked in, the team welcomed guests warmly and immediately created an environment that felt both educational and social rather than transactional. One of the strengths of Patio29 is the way the staff approach the tasting experience. Rather than simply serving samples, they take time to explain the philosophy behind their distillation methods, ingredient selection, and the development of their spirits. That level of engagement elevates the experience because you begin to appreciate the craftsmanship and intentionality behind each bottle. The conversation naturally flows from the history of the distillery to the production techniques they use, which helps visitors understand how small-batch distillation differs from large commercial operations. The spirits themselves demonstrate strong balance and technical precision. Their vodka stands out for its clean structure and smooth finish, making it enjoyable both neat and as a cocktail base. The gin offers a well-structured botanical profile with bright aromatics and a controlled level of juniper that allows other botanical elements to come forward without overpowering the palate. The cocktail program also deserves recognition because the bartenders clearly understand how to highlight the character of each spirit. Instead of masking the base spirit, the cocktails are constructed to complement and elevate the flavor profile, which is a strong indicator of thoughtful beverage craftsmanship. Another aspect that enhances the experience is the atmosphere. Patio29 manages to create a relaxed social setting that encourages conversation and exploration. It feels like a place where locals gather as much as visitors discovering the town for the first time. The tasting room maintains a balance between professionalism and approachability, making it easy for both experienced spirit enthusiasts and casual visitors to feel comfortable. Overall, Patio29 Spirits Co. delivers a refined yet welcoming craft distillery experience that reflects both technical skill and community-oriented hospitality. The combination of well-executed spirits, knowledgeable staff, and a comfortable environment makes it a destination worth visiting if you are exploring the craft beverage scene in Northern California.

If you go for the cocktail option, please note CA law only always allows a distillery to serve 1.5oz of alcohol per person so there are no other tastes or cocktails available. Someone in my group was excited about the Sloe Gin but wasn't able to try it after ordering the two tastes and cocktail. Just means they have to come back for a visit again the future. The cost is a little over $20 for the two tastes with a cocktail. I had the Vital Springs cocktail with Vodka, basil, mint, lime, ginger and Thai spiced bitters. The cocktail was really good and refreshing.  They also have cocktail kits available and for purchase that includes the alcohol, simple syrup, bitters and mixers.  This is a great spot in The Barlow!

We got the 2-taste with 1-cocktail option, and apparently the CA law is that a distillery can't serve more than 1.5oz of alcohol per person, so it's just a couple of sips and a half-sized drink. For 2 people it came to about $50. **Don't forget to check in on Yelp when you arrive to save 50%! I knew of this offer and I forgot so we paid full price.** The bartender was fun, and the drinks were tasty. Definitely try the Sloe Gin! So unique and flavorful, it was the best drink I had all day. Another cool thing is that you can buy cocktail kits that include alcohol, simple syrup, bitters, and mixers for about $70 -$100 depending on the liquor you choose. Would return.

We had a very entertaining, informative, and delicious smelling tour, and then we went to the tasting room to get our hands on the goods. OH MAN is their stuff GOOD. We started with the Rye and moved onto the good stuff. I fell head over heels with the #2, and then we found the Cask Strength #2 and the love I felt was even stronger. As if it couldn't get better, there was a Truffle one that blew our minds. I was so impressed with the education on how to drink Whiskey and Bourbon, and left feeling amazing that this product came from my hometown! If I lived in the continental US, I would totally join the barrel club because this stuff is amazing. The owner was there when we did the tour and he was super cool. The Distillery is growing so fast with the desire for their product that they have moved on from the size they have to a specially designed for the new place they're moving to later this year. Several tables around the dining space in various deuce/four-top plans. Full bar has several stools at the beautifully carved arcade with one of the most energetic, personable, knowledgeable bartenders this side of the bay bridge. Crinkle cut fries crispy and fluffy inside. Dippin' heaven. Dining service can feel a bit sluggish, disjointed and inattentive at times.
