What can I say -- this place is amazing! The prices are great, the portions are super generous, and every dish is packed with flavor. You can really tell it's family-owned; there's so much care and warmth in the food and service. The chicken bowl with hummus and shirazi salad is a solid 10/10, and the lentil soup was delicious too. I can't wait to come back and try more from the menu! Just a heads up -- both times I visited, they were only accepting cash or Zelle, but it's totally worth it. Definitely one of my new favorite spots!

I really enjoyed the food, it was fresh and full of flavor. The place feels clean and welcoming, the service is friendly, and the good test of music makes it a great vibe. thank you for having me

Combo Plate with chicken and steak. Shirazi salad and humus. Rice and lentils. They also offer grilled veggies, which I declined.

This place is great It's a family owned and operated small business serving fresh food every day. I typically get the combo plate, either with lula or beef/chicken. It's made fresh and tastes great. Portions are very generous and the price is surprisingly cheap. It's counter service. The only gripe is that they don't have a soda machine. They do sell cans/bottles. I'll keep coming back whenever I work on this side of town.

Great tasting & healthy food with awesome service! Very spacious seating, great for families and very clean. Recommend the combo plates of chicken and beef, with the lentil soup (very good separately or on rice for extra flavor), grilled veggies and fresh salad . Another banger is the beef wrap that is very tasty and filling, stuffed with yogurt cucumber, beef, rice, garlic spread, a mild or spicy sauce and hummus. Service from repeat visits has always been welcoming and friendly and the staff is very accommodating. Whenever we're in the area this is one of our stops. Heads up the place is closed on Sundays. Overall a great mom & pop place and I highly recommend!!!

When ordering our food, the prices were reasonable and we were able to customize our meals and receive complementary sauces. The service was fast and there was a lot of seating and good lighting within the restaurant. I really enjoyed my bowl; the seasoning on the vegetables was just right, the beef was tender and the rice soft, and I especially recommend the garlic paste.

Surprisingly incredible. located in an unassuming strip mall across from the Goodwill. Really clean aesthetics and nice service. Ingredients are fresh and I love that they have healthy options. I can tell the pens put a lot of TLC into the space. Could use some music in this space to warm of the atmosphere. Reasonably protected. Overall an A+!

We decided to switch things up and try Skaf's On York, and wow, we are so glad we did because this is officially our new favorite! Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious. The falafel was hands down the best we've ever had. They were perfectly crispy on the outside, flavorful, and so tender on the inside. The hummus was also incredible, so creamy and smooth with just the right amount of flavor. The chicken was juicy, well seasoned, and had that perfect grilled char, and the rice was delicious. Even the cabbage salad was fresh, crunchy, and a perfect compliment to everything else. And the portions are HUGE. We were genuinely surprised by how much food we received. Everything was packed so generously, and they even gave us a whole pack of pita, which was such a nice touch. We had more than enough food for and plenty left over to enjoy later. You can really tell they care about the quality of their food and the portions they give their customers. Skaf's On York absolutely knocked it out of the park. We went in thinking we were just trying something different from our usual spot, and we came out with a new favorite. We'll definitely be ordering from here again and can't recommend it enough!

Atmosphere:I went with my gusband on a weekday night, the place was not busy. The vibe/atmosphere is gorgeous! Not pretentious , yet upscale. modern, boho, and elegant in an accessible way that makes you feel welcome. The open air concept is right up my alley, especially during a warm summer night. For those complaining about the train: we're not in the suburbs! This is Los Angeles! The train was one of my favorite parts of the whole experience! It is not common to be able to dine at a Michelin restaurant tucked away in a quiet neighborhood that is so close to the heart of the city. I loved watching the train go by! Food: Wow. Bread, the sauces , the flavors. I don't think i need to say more, i was blown away. We had starters and a main and it was just right. WIne : Another 5 star experience. I was impressed with the wine selection, not something easily accomplished . I KNOW my wines, and Momed did not disappoint. Price points were very fair, too. We had a Croatian Rose and a bottle of the Assyrtiko. PLEASE keep these on your wine list! Service: Tiana was the star of the show. We invited her to sit and have a glass of our fabulous Assyrtiko, but she politely declined. We just really enjoyed having a real server that talked to us like humans, something not so common for LA. The only slight downside is its location right next to the train tracks , when a train passes, it creates quite a bit of noise, but it didn't ruin the lively vibe of our dinner. The Food The fusion Mediterranean menu has plenty of great options, and we definitely stuffed ourselves: House-Made Pita Bread: An absolute must-order. It comes out warm, fluffy, and fresh--we loved it so much we ended up eating five orders. Paired perfectly with the dips and cherry tomato spread. Whole Dorade: A major highlight of the table. Perfectly cooked fish served in a rich, savory cherry tomato sauce. Beef Shish Kabob: Incredibly tender, well-seasoned, and packed with flavor. Grilled Octopus: Flavors and presentation were nice, though the texture was a bit tough and over-charred/grilled on our visit. Service & Final Thoughts The service was warm, attentive, and kept everything moving smoothly all night. Aside from the train noise and the slightly overdone octopus, everything else hit the spot. Great food, great company, and we'll definitely be back for the fish and pita bread!

I hunted a bit before tracking down a spot and paying the meter. I have not been to Dune before, but the value of the lunch special along with the promise of a fried chicken shawarma, coupled with unexpected free time, sounded like a promising moment to stop by. Walked up to the window and after no acknowledgement, I peaked inside the door and asked whether I place an order at the counter or wait to be seated. When I tell you the jarring elder Gen Z stare and incredibly unfriendly direction to sit on the bench and wait my turn (in the literal sense that I was told to sit on the bench and wait my turn. There was only a party of 2 seated at the bench and no line to speak of) made me regret coming out to eat entirely. I'm not lying when I say I thought about leaving immediately and driving home in my air conditioned car instead of sitting on a hot bench in nearly 100 degree weather with no acknowledgement of party size, no offer for a drink or water while I wait, and just existing in my bizarre humiliation ritual for having asked what the procedure is here for any kind of recognition of my interest in dining or simply existing. And yes, after sitting down I saw there is a small low contrast sign on a post stating to sit on the bench and wait, but it is positioned parallel to the counter window and only when turning away from the glass toward the seating area was it placed in a way that I would see it. Not very useful for someone who is walking up or down the sidewalk as it's not visible. I held my breath for about 10 minutes before being asked my party size (one) and seated at a shaded table. I regretted my choice to dine out the entire wait time for the table, while ordering and then being required to pay upfront before my meal was even presented to me, while seated awaiting my order, while my food (loaded fries, fried chicken shawarma, date shake and an added unsweetened iced green mint tea) was dumped at once on the table in front of me, while eating feeling humiliated for existing inside human skin, and again when having to walk to the window and ask for a to-go box. I felt like a massive inconvenience for the staff and fully regretted bothering them every step of the way for normal things like a Dine LA menu which was not initially offered, adding an iced tea to my order, existing in a metal folding chair and generally taking up space. I don't like being treated like a turd by people, and certainly don't want to be treated this way when I'm paying for a service. But after the initial flubbed interactions, demanding payment with tip upfront before receiving any kind of service was rendered, and then dumping my food at the table without ceremony, it's truly no wonder why the LA restaurant scene is dying. Between poorly trained staff, rising costs in rent and utilities, the outrageous cost of staffing and the fact that eating at a restaurant is completely unnecessary when cutting household expenses, restaurants are disappearing left and right. Some of the foods I still dream about are lost forever to closure after closure. Customers being treated like they're inconsequential isn't the only reason people like me usually choose to dine at home, and it's not the only reason restaurants are disappearing. But it's one of the only controllable elements in a world of runaway hospitality expenses. Customers deserve even a modicum of respect if restaurants are going to survive. $48 for the meal including tax and tip. More than enough food for lunch, I took home half. Loaded steak fries / wish they were served with a whipped feta or dipping sauce instead of ketchup but they're good. Generous portion of steak. 9/10 Fried chicken shawarma / fun idea, execution made it difficult to pick up to eat. Serving in a metal basket made it impossible to cut in half since there was not a solid surface to cut against. Flavor is yummy, wish those middle eastern flavors were more prominent in the batter but the chicken is extra crispy. Enjoyable. 8/10 Date shake / luxurious, creamy, flavorful. No notes. 10/10 Unsweetened green mint iced tea / overpriced, underdelivered. I'd skip it unless you're parched. 5/10 **written without the assistance of AI**

But it is without question the most important Armenian restaurant in the world. Armenians are simultaneously a diaspora people, a people of the book, and an old country people. Technically, this is more of a Lebanese restaurant than an Armenian restaurant, but that hardly matters. It's a place of celebration, merriment, laughter, and tears. In short, it is THE gathering place for Armenians in Southern California.
