I gave them 2 stars because I love the quality of their clothing. Feb 6 I go into store and order 4 shirts. 2 white , 1 pink , 1 blue. I took one white shirt with me because I needed it right away. I left 3 shirts behind to get my initials on the sleeves. The Gentleman behind the counter told me it takes about a week or longer. Since Im working in the area I told him I needed to pick them up at the store. He advised me he would call me as soon as they arrive. Now it's Feb 20 and I received one white shirt delivered to my house. I go to the store today inquiring about my other missing shirts and they tell me they won't be ready till middle of March. I also asked why they sent them to my house and they had no answer. I'm on contract work and won't be home till June that's why I wanted to pick up in store. If i knew it was going to take so long I would have gone to a different store. Smh I really needed those shirt asap. read more

The shirts are very good quality and are competitively priced when on sale. Their prices are in line with competitors, e.g. Paul Fredrick, Bonobos. Charles lost me when they continue to charge shipping and a fee to return items. They charge too much to ding me for these fees. The last straw was my purchase of custom shirts. There is a 24-hour cancellation window. I went to the physical store after ordering the shirts online and found that I ordered the wrong size. I engaged in a chat with the online staff to change the sizes and was told that it was day 2 and I was too late. I indicated I could not have been the first person to ask for a change, at day 2, but was told that is the policy. I then pointed out that it was only day 2 and they could not have started making the custom shirt. I wasn't even able to talk with a manager. The manager will get back to me in 24 hours. I never heard anything. When I told them I just spent $2,800 USD, that didn't seem to matter. So I returned everything over two, $100 shirts. It's a shame too because I had been a walking advertisement for them. But I am looking for a company that is interested in more than their policies and more about establishing business with recurring customers. That's better business. The staffs are dishonest. They LIED, trying to cover the mistake. Very poorly operated. Not recommend going. I bought a suit. The only one of my size in store was flawed. I requested a new one to be shipped and the staff promised that it will arrive in 5 days (my event was in 7 days). I believed and left my name and phone number. I was charged in full upfront On the pick-up day, I called to check. They didn't even know what suit I'm asking for and didn't know my phone number. By the end of day, I went in. They said my new suit is here. I also saw the flawed one is still in the store. They first took out a wrong suit. Then, the staff took the flawed one into their backroom, and came out with the "correct" one. I immediately recognized that was the flawed one. They lied, without explaining to me what actually happened, but trying to cover their mistake and not caring selling me the flawed product. The store manager tried hard to avoid the "lie" part and trying to emphasize they wanted to help. Worst client service ever. read more

After months (and months) of getting catalogues for this place in the mail, I decided that since I was fortunate enough to live close to one (well, three) of their very few (five) physical locations in the US, it was in my best interest to see how their shirts fit. In my professional shirt purchasing history I have found that European cuts fit me best, and they usually don't come cheap. Several years of business shirt purchasing always led me to the outlets, where the prices were good but the quality deteriorated exponentially over time on most brands... Back to the outlets. More shirt purchases. More money. Time to try something new. When I got there, I was measured right away, and tried on their slim and extra slim fits. They have at least one shirt in what looked like every possible size available to try on, so I tried slight collar and sleeve variations until I found what worked best. I found their customer service to be fantastic; two people working there also helped me decide which fit was best; I ended up going with the slim fit with a smaller collar and slightly longer sleeve than I usually do, making this the best fitting shirt I own with the exception of the few custom ones I have. They pointed me to all the areas around the store where I could find different colors in that exact size. The only negative part of a store this small is that the colors and patters were slightly limited, but I know they have a lot more on their website. I grabbed 4, and left paying $188. I got a coupon for 20% off my next full purchase (in store) and a $20 coupon for my next purchase in store or online. Sure, this store is smaller than the others in New York, but everyone was really helpful and I got exactly what I needed. I will now go no other place for business shirts - and I will be back to try on their suits, because I saw some off the rack options for less than $400 that would be a great supplement to my collection. I definitely plan to go to the 7th Avenue location to try on some casual clothes, shoes, etc. - and now that I know my size in shirts, i'll just order what I need online. read more

They are one of my favorite shirts for men, but definitely order online if you can. I have been here a couple times and I noticed that your luck depends on your sales associate. I asked if the had a shirt I liked with bottoms and the sales associate told me what they had on the shelves was everything they had and they didn't have anything else in the back. However, I saw how another sales associate offered someone else to go to the back and check if they had a shirt they were looking for. A sales associate even checked with other stores to find something for a customer (this was during the holiday season) and it continues ... I don't know if they service people by their looks, their mood, the weather ... but there needs to be some sort of standard customer service for everyone on a daily basis. read more

I've recently had to buy a good amount of shirts/suits/ties/accessories for work and tried a few different companies. In the end, Charles Tyrwhitt fits me like a glove. That is key when buying formal wear. If the fit isn't right, then the company doesn't matter. In this case, CT just fits me perfectly. First, the customer service in this store is exceptional. They treat you really well and will offer up their suggestions. If the item isn't in store, then order it online. CT has quite a collection and the quality is very good for the price you're paying. I find these to be great quality shirts and good for both formal and business wear, even if traveling. I disagree with the poster who claimed otherwise. Customer Service - They are a small busy store so you won't get the superior one on one customer service as you may get in other places (people, it is NYC after all) but the woman who assisted me with sample sizes try on was very nice. Washing - I was the shirts and let them hang dry to avoid shrinkage. They don't take too long to dry. I've definitely received a few compliments in these shirts. The majority of my experience with Charles Tyrwhitt has been through online orders which has been terrific. However, today I decided I wanted to be fitted on a blazer and a pair of their chino pants in store. I called this store to make sure the blazer was in stock and luckily there were 2 in stock. They agreed to put them on hold for me. This is where the positives end. I showed up after work and tried on the blazer. It looked alright but it didn't look right as the material looked fuzzy as if it's been worn many times prior. I asked for the other pair and the "Suit Specialist" said they don't have another one. I reassured him that there should be one because I confirmed this over the phone just hours ago. The person said it was sold a while ago. I repeated what I said again. Now the person said it must've been sold just earlier today then. I smelled bs. His mannerisms came off to me like he just wanted a quick sale. I had my friend accompanying me to take a look at the blazer and she agreed it looked worn and some of the threads were sticking out. This "Suit Specialist" had the nerve to say to her to not pull at the threads because she'll ruin it. I decided against getting the blazer. I then asked for my size for the chinos but they didn't have my size or the type of cut (slim fit/extra slim fit) and basically gave me an alternate size and cut to try on. This wasn't doing it for me so I took a chance and just had them order it and shipped to my address. I asked to confirm the delivery ETA, and he said 2 weeks. Then very unneccessarily added in a snarky attitude, "You've ordered online before, yes?" Where did they get this guy? After leaving the store, I checked the receipt and one of the chinos was ordered in the wrong color. I had to call them to amend the order. To be completely frank, the general feel I had of the salesmen in this store did not meet the standards of CT in my opinion. I've had much, much better experiences at the Madison Ave location. Excellent quality clothing for the price. I bought four shirts for $50 each, and they rival pieces I own that were double that, or more. Sales staff were also knowledgeable, with their demeanors ranging from businesslike to vaguely prickly, though that's almost a give-in with these places. CT will probably be my go to for business clothes moving forward. read more

Of all the Charles Tyrwhitt stores in NYC, this is the smallest. I like it for the convenience but often rely on the online experience or other locations to shop. During sale season, there are some pretty great deals to be had so it's definitely worth stopping by. Above all, the customer service here is excellent (in terms of in-store experience, online transaction assistance, returns etc.). Drop by and sign up for their mailing list and get a $20 gift certificate (no minimum). In terms of style, I think this features more conservative work attire than some other stores I shop at but it's still in the rotation of stores I browse every so often. read more

I had ordered some shirts online with a sale but wanted to come in to the store to double check my sizes and their fits. At first it seemed like there were too many customers for the three or four people working there, so I grabbed a shirt and was going to just try it on. Luckily I was stopped by a Sales Associated named Peter who told me that they had sample shirts to try on. He also said I should try on an extra slim sheet when I had ordered regular slim. The extra slim fit perfectly and Peter couldn't have been nicer considering I had already make a purchase and there was no way that I was going to be picking up anything else while in store. Overall, a great experience and I look forward to receiving my perfectly fitted shirts in a week or two. read more

With little optimism, I went to the store to see if I could exchange it as I didn't have a receipt and it was bought from abroad. The incredibly helpful sales assistant went to considerable effort to figure out purchase details and allowed me to exchange it. I work as a receptionist for Kramer and I live by the motto of "great customer service" because that's what I aim to provide at my job. AMAZING is what I got at Charles Tyrwhitt. Jorge Clase went above and beyond helping me find a replacement shirt for my husband. I had to return the Classic fit shirt because it was too big on him and Jorge went to back dressing room area and showed me all the different sizes that might fit my husband. Jorge was amazing and he even asked me how my day was going. He was polite, caring and he took his time trying to help me. He really made my experience very pleasant and even at check out even his colleague (Christopher Vargas)was the same with me- as friendly as Jorge . I went during the thanksgiving weekend and the story was busy than usual. At first i had to wait a bit for someone to come and offer help. It took about 5 minutes but after that everyone was very helpful. Since am buying CT for last 7 years obviously I knew more about them than the staff e.g. things like they have made in Italy and also in China and how the latter wears our sooner but overall the experience was great. the 25% discount was better than online 20% and they reaffirmed their 6 month 'no questions asked return in any state' policy. I have only returned a shirt once that too unworn because I wanted one size larger. The customer service along with already great quality at great price for CT makes them deserve the 5 stars. read more

I hate shopping for clothes, but really needed to upgrade my work wardrobe. After seeing those 3 x $99 deals in my magazines (you can also find the same codes online), I decided to visit the CT store in person to get measured and pick up some new shirts. I was assisted by Marx, a nice young guy that had me measured and trying on sample fits (ie, slim, collars, etc) in no time. Once I had my size and preferred cut figured out, Marx showed me around the store and helped with suggestions as I made my selections. Very friendly, quick, and efficient. Over two days I purchased 9 shirts for $300 and got the 10th shirt for free - so I'm all-in at $30/shirt. I haven't actually worn the CT shirts yet, but the fabric quality looks pretty good, especially given the price (note my shirts say made in Malaysia and China). You can also choose to have the shirts shipped to you at no cost, if something you want isn't in stock or if you don't want to carry your gear back on a plane/train. Very convenient. Hopefully the CT shirts hold up well (I will update post if not) and I don't have to shop like this again for several years. Thanks for the help Marx! read more
