Customer Service at the Madison location is abhorrent! I purposefully waited sometime to write this review because I did not want any employees to be reprimanded or scolded rather to be used as constructive criticism to make a change within the locations' ethos. Several other reviewers seem to share similar grievances. In my specific situation I walked in and understand the motto is to shop by appointment - this may be easier done in a different state which doesn't have much foot traffic but more difficult in NY and especially midtown which is home to flagship stores and a hub for tourism. I was introduced to a salesperson whom began to assist me with my needs but then a different customer walked in without an appointment, it seems the customer may have been a regular or may have appeared to have more money than I did and the salesperson who was helping quickly shifted to the interests of the other person. I understand the opportunity behind all of this, I am a salesperson myself. In order to try to gain the salespersons attention I asked if I should return another day and without hesitation he said that I should. I was flabbergasted and appalled. As a lifelong NYer who doesn't need anyone's hand to do shopping or anything for that matter I would have been ok with getting the size I requested and continue in my own but was completely flummoxed at the salespersons response. An individual clearly not apt for sales. Is this a Suit Supply training fault or a managers miss during the hiring process or just the ethos in the store. If you want a better experience and have the time to travel I recommend Suit Supply Williamsburg. Professionalism trickles down there from the manager, Aubrey down to all sales staff - a much desirable experience to match the excellent variety of clothing there. Madison Ave out of all places with this attitude. I remember as a kid going to Saks as a kid in the 90's and getting stare downs but some salesperson would at least dedicate time to my needs of low pecuniary. read more

My husband found this company on social media. Just beginning his custom clothing journey, Suitsupply's price point and social media marketing intrigued us enough that when we saw the store off Madison, we HAD to see what it was about. Initially they were extremely busy! You have to "check-in" and then just wait. We aren't patient and got hungry so we left after walking around the store for a few minutes. We came back closer to closing time & worked with Justin to look at a few pieces. Everyone in the store was busy, consulting their clients, giving undivided attention to the guy they were helping. We had a great experience with Justin and they have a huge variety of things from ready to wear, very casual, to tuxedo and everything in between. I stopped by SuitSupply midtown without an appointment just to see what it's all about. They nicely asked my name and waited for a short period of time for a a salesman. Luckily my salesman was Josh who not only is a salesman there but also a tailor so he knows both sides of the business. He couldn't have been nicer. No pressure to buy anything although I was in the market for a custom suit. Josh was quick to show me what fabric he recommended at the best price and practically knew all my measurements before he even took them. Fast forward 2-3 weeks later and I get an email that the suit was ready at the store to try on. To my amazement, the suit was perfect and needed no alterations which never happens to me. I couldn't be happier with the suit and feel lucky to have had Josh be my salesman. I definitely plan to be back for another suit and perhaps even some dress shirts. Thx SuitSupply!! read more

I worked with Kendall at this location and was very impressed. Off the bat, the reason I didn't ever go to Suit Supply was due to a bad experience with a pair of pants I got from them years ago, but, things have certainly improved on their side. Maybe that pair of pants was a lemon? I got a few shirts and a blazer from here, all of which fit great. Kendall was extremely helpful and patient, as I am not the easiest shopper to deal with, especially considering that I'm in business casual / formal wear all week long and need my clothes to fit. 5/5. Yes, the price point is higher than some other brands, but you're getting what you're paying for. Skip Theory, Brooks Brothers, etc. and check this place out. Avoid the Madison Avenue location. This store has really gone down hill over the last year and is now a disaster. Some really bad sales people who were not helpful, didn't want to do any needed alterations and kept claiming it was fine. When I finally got them to do the alterations, a few days later I picked up the clothes and they had altered them exactly the opposite of what they were supposed to do. Horrible customer service. The last time I finally asked to speak to the manager and instead of apologizing for the bad service she seemed to be incensed that I was complaining. Now I go to any other Suit Supply location since I like the clothes - excellent quality and prices. But avoid The Madison Avenue store, badly run and hustling sales people that should be in a cheap discount electronics store. read more

Unfortunately I cannot recommend Suitsupply. I purchased an off the rack suit for my wedding but had to have a vest for it custom made in the same fabric. When I went to pick it all up, the vest was the incorrect fabric! My salesman Joseph ordered the vest in the wrong fabric... fortunately someone else helped me out and they were able to get the vest overnighted to me the day before my wedding (but not enough time to do alterations). The custom orders take time because they are made in China. The alterations done in house on the jacket and pants were not perfect (I actually questioned whether they had even done all the alterations I asked for), and when I expressed my concerns to the salesman who I tried it on with, he told me "that's how it's supposed to fit" - but I felt it was still too tight in some areas. I had to take the suit to another tailor to get it to fit comfortably. You shouldn't have to argue with the salespeople when you don't like the way your suit fits.. Absolute worst customer service ever! I have shopped here years ago, and loved it. But this time, my alterations were supposed to be done by May 2, and since then I have called 10X, but it goes to voicemail EVERY TIME! I have left a ton of messages, I have sent a number of emails, but ZERO RESPONSE!!! A week now I've just been trying to get someone on the phone! How can you run a business like that? So so so so bad.... cannot believe about their service. SAM was helping us out a week ago, and we asked for alteration.... we did not hear from them, so we had to visit again to check what is going on. We finally got our suites, and guess what???? They did not do the alteration on Blazer. Surprisingly, they did not even know!! And handed it to us!! Erin, who helped us out for a refund for alteration, did not even say "sorry." She just said, " I just need to find out we did it or not." Literally, she was saying she does not want to hear anything else beside that. I just shut my mouth because it was not worth talking to a person like that. Wow... what kind of business place is this?? I felt like it was a kind of racism. **Unacceptably bigoted and misleading service at Suitsupply Madison Ave** I bought my suit at this store in May. Despite the website saying it takes 2 to 3 days to shorten sleeves, I was told that this deadline wouldn't be honored at Suitsupply Madison Avenue. Now (November), I decided to once again try to shorten the sleeves. I tried calling the store, but no one picked up the phone. Suitsupply staff in May told me that I needed to be wearing the shirt I would usually wear with the suit in order to properly measure the sleeve length. I then put on said shirt, the clean jacket, and a full overcoat, so the jacket wouldn't get dirty. Once I got to the store, I was instantly turned away by the associate at the door who told me that the suit had to be in a dry cleaning bag (again, despite that not being on the website). When I told him the suit was clean, he said he "couldn't take my word for it" and didn't even take a look at the jacket. (This policy is quite nonsensical, as someone could simply put a jacket in a dry cleaning bag.) He then insinuated my jacket was possibly unsanitary because he didn't know what I had done with it and that I could only remove it from the dry cleaning bag and put it on in front of Suitsupply staff. To top it all off, he then said no matter what I would have to come back another day because an appointment was required (even though they didn't pick up the phone, and the website says "just bring your purchase into any of our stores"). I am sure a big factor that contributed to the unacceptable behavior treatment I received is the fact that I am a young Latino. (I have read complaints from other Latinos who experienced the same prejudice at this location) Immediate retraining of the staff is needed at this location to avoid further distress of "customers who don't look like they have a lot of money" (as very well said by another unhappy customer in a Suitsupply Madison review). read more

This is an efficiently designed operation, trying to present assembly line tailoring as custom-made. Rather than take your measurements and preferences, prepare a suit with all seams basted, and then create a final product, they begin with "the closest size" and then tell the manufacturer to take-in or let-out particular areas. For 50 years, my tailors have told me that I needed a small shoulder pad on the left to compensate for uneven shoulders, to allow the jacket to drape evenly - but this was not in their regular algorithm and they did not make this change. I then spent four additional fittings for them to try to figure out why the jacket was fitting improperly with extra folds and wrinkles. They finally decided to put in a shoulder pad - but they also took in "extra fabric" and the jacket was too tight! I wound up leaving the jacket for a refund - but after spending 2 months and 5 fittings in vain. The salesman explained that, unlike true custom tailors, the person who takes the measurements is not the person who makes the alterations so that things don't always turn out as expected. This may be fine for people who are a perfect size, but not for someone who needs custom tailoring. read more

My fiancé ordered a CUSTOM tuxedo for our wedding and a suit. When the tux came in the legs were 2 DIFFERENT LENGTHS. The sales associate told him they were not and we went home. He tried on the pants again and we were in agreement, they were bad. We went back and spoke to the custom specialist who was great. He measured them and agreed, one leg was half an inch longer than the other. One leg had a break at the bottom, the other didn't. He had also lost 11 pounds since his original measurement and yet the butt was tight. This was poorly constructed. He returned to get them fitted and AGAIN THE PANT LEGS WERE DIFFERENT LENGTHS. They have no quality control and they have now wasted 3 trips and 3 hours of our time because they do not know how to tailor and they don't check their work. We asked for some acknowledgment of this unacceptable work and the store manager wouldn't even speak to my fiancé. This should have been heavily discounted due to the massive errors by the team but no, nothing, nada. In addition, his custom suit came in completely wrong because someone at the store added a different clients measurements to his profile so he had 2 sets of very different measurements entered on the same day. They are remaking that suit (which they didn't want to at first, they wanted to just let out the one and give him a hodge podge suit). We would have looked at making another custom suit and jacket there but have no interest in the HORRIBLE WORKMANSHIP and horrendous lack of management by their store manager. We contacted customer service who told us "To say we are disappointed is an understatement". However, they have not responded further nor done anything beyond emailing meaningless words. NEVER BUY ANYTHING FROM THIS STORE. THEY TAKE NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR A SUBPAR PRODUCT AND CANNOT BE TRUSTED TO DO THE RIGHT THING WHEN THEY MESS UP! read more

I've been a loyal Suitsupply customer, but this recent experience was a disaster. I tried to return a blazer that had been altered, only to be told returns aren't allowed after adjustments. No one mentioned this at the time of purchase--apparently, it's buried in the digital receipt that you don't even see. Had I known, I would never have adjusted it. Just lost $700. Okay, this would be the second suit supply store I ever went to. The first being in Greenwich. Overall this place was a decent size, good selection, and the folks there, at least John who I worked with, was knowledgeable. I walked in, not thinking of buying a suit, but then saw one that I previously tried on in Greenwich. And it fit like a glove. I think the dude at Greenwich grabbed the wrong size so it was off and he thought it was a 42 but it wasn't. Anyways, John was like hot dam! It fits like how the glass slipper fit on Cinderella's foot perfectly! So I was like I WILL TAKE IT! And it will be ready the next day!! So fast, so efficient, so smart. Also, I just walked in and did not even have an appointment. I waited like two seconds, the dude just walked up and was like YOOOO and i was like suppppp they didn't even have to text me to tell me my dude was ready to help me. John was able to figure it out who was waiting for him and BAM! He deserved that sale. So A+ for service and when a sales rep is as smart and able to figure things out on his on like John, that's the extra star to get this place 5 whopping stars!! So come one and come all, this place ain't pricy despite what the lady coming out of the store was complaining about as I was walking in. The experience here has been hit or miss, and for the price.. I was really expecting better. Had problems with tailoring where one leg was longer than the other. After the tailoring, the pants seemed to have been ripped slightly. After this experience I came in frustrated and dropped 1 profanity (in regards to the suit pants, not at an individual) and she was flabbergasted that I used a curse word. Harped on it more than once throughout my interaction. I just expected more from this whole fiasco. I have never been so vividly aware that I was in a physical location for a primarily online business. First issue is the mirrors. Both floors are covered with them, which I assume was intended to mask how small the space is but rather has the effect of making you feel like you're in a funhouse. The combination of odd mirror and doorway placement was truly one of the more jarring shopping experiences I've ever had. Ironically, the only place WITHOUT adequate mirrors are the fitting rooms (or at least the one I was in), which had a mirror that was completely covered by a blown up photograph of a man wearing one of their suits. Sure, that's nice or whatever, but in a fitting room I'm actually trying to see how the clothes look on me, which was impossible. Next, the staff are...less than attentive. I was standing there with a suit trying to catch the attention of one of several disinterested employees - there were maybe a total of five other customers in the store - I had to finally wave at one to be like "Sorry, can I try this on" and I got attitude in response. **BUYER BEWARE DEVILS WEAR PRADA VIBES*** I wish I could leave negative stars. After reading the reviews of how rude and disrespectful the service is here I thought it was all exaggerated. Unfortunately, the reviews are true. I bought a $850 suit online, had it delivered to the store and waited for 40 minutes to see someone for a final fitting (after being told my wait would be 20 minutes). I decided to just take the suit and leave because of how rude the curly haired lady who was delegating employees for fittings. she offered NO apology for the wait, said basically nothing and gave me the suit. So I sat around for 40 minutes waiting for someone to help me AFTER I spent $850 on their suit and still was treated like I was a bum off the street. Unless you look like you have a lot of money you're likely to be treated the same. I had a similar experience at the Soho location. one of their "experts" was angry I decided not to purchase a suit that day, said I wasted his time. The Madison Ave location is worse -- the woman is greeting people should be fired for how obnoxiously Rude she is. This place is truly unbelievable! The fact that management hasn't bothered to respond to the recent bad reviews here speaks volumes. STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS LOCATION!! In March, I worked with Eric to order a custom suit for my June wedding. The problems began when my suit arrived in April. The pants were about 3" too long and about 2" too big around the waist. The jacket was too large and the style completely unlike anything I had tried on in the store with Eric. I went to the store and worked with Vyanca on a remake fitting. Vyanca reassured me the suit would be ready at least two weeks before my wedding (she told me she was the one who "put out the fires"). I admittedly felt reassured. But weeks went by and after emailing back and forth with management, and getting no updates, I returned to the store one week before my wedding to check on the status. I spoke with Erin. Turns out the remake order never went through. I was told it would be at least another five weeks before my suit was ready (which would be about four weeks AFTER my wedding was over). The only consolation Erin offered me was a refund. At this point, I was in full-fledged crisis mode. I ended up buying a suit off-the-rack at Saks and paid twice what I paid at Suit Supply. If you want good service and a suit that actually fits (or even a suit at all), do yourself a favor and shop elsewhere. Our experience here was so strange. I'll leave one star because they gave us coffee. My fiance made an appointment to get a suit for our wedding. He had gone over the options on the website and we showed up on time with several things we were looking for (nothing weird - just a formal suit and/or tux in a dark color with a slim fit). Our salesperson (Phil?) told us that his needs were "too specific" and that there were no dark or winter suits in the entire store. I know it's July, but it's a two story store on Madison Ave dedicated specifically to suits and there are no fall/winter wedding suits in the whole building? My fiance was handed a couple different jackets to try on in the middle of the store. But we were never directed to a dressing room to actually try on a suit, nor did the salesperson attempt to take any measurements (even though there was a measurement tape around his neck) to order a suit later. Eventually he handed us an iPad to look at the options on the suit supply website and kind of stood there while we looked at it. After a few minutes, we were basically told that we didn't know what we were doing and he suggested we leave and go to Tom Ford down the street. We left feeling really confused and frustrated. Off the rack options are great and the custom options are too (but usually requires revision until perfect). While the experience with our fitter was fine, several of the items had to be sent back and remade because of defects, and we're still waiting for everything to arrive, going on four months later. I've reached out to customer service via telephone, email and WhatsApp, only to be told that "someone from the store will be in contact with you" -- which ALSO hasn't happened, and I contacted customer service over a week ago. And forget trying to call the store directly: no one picks up, and leaving a message on their own voicemail doesn't seem to incentivize them to call back, either. I have always had great service but today I was highly disappointed. I was interested in purchasing a pair of dress shoes and the socks I was wore were a bit thick so I asked for a sample sock. The sales representative arrived laughing with a woman's stocking which couldn't cover half of my foot. When I asked him for a sock I was told none were available. I had a laughably awful experience at this store today. My fiancee and I went to looking for a suit or tux for me for our upcoming wedding. We interacted with 3 different associates. I had browsed the website once before but had never been to the store. FIRST INTERACTION: We're browsing the maze-like store, trying to figure out how it is laid out and where to find the type of suits I'm looking for. All the sales associates appeared to be busy. We wandered through to one area when suddenly a woman yelled at us from behind to GET OUT of the "made to measure" area as it is APPOINTMENT ONLY. Seriously? Maybe you should put up a sign. There's no obvious indication that it is an exclusive area. Of course, when we asked her if a salesperson could help us navigate the inventory, she told us that everyone was busy and walked away. Thanks a lot. SECOND INTERACTION: Wandering our way through the second floor, we found the area that had suits in my size. I found a cut/style that I liked and wanted to find out if there were other color or size options. There was a salesperson near by who was working with another customer that was changing in the dressing room. A third customer walked up to this salesperson and they had a 5-10 minute conversation about 110s vs 150s and other details about suits that they carry. When they finished their suit-geek session, I went up to the salesperson to ask him my question (while his primary dude is still changing). He said something to the effect of "sorry I'm busy" and walked away to arrange things elsewhere. Thanks a lot. At this point, I'm pretty fed up with this place. I like the cut of the suit and want some guidance to understand their different suit lines and see if the single suit I picked out is the best option for me. I have no idea if they have that style in one color or 50, if they have an similar styles, if another style would work for my body type, etc. I'm not a SuitSupply expert, I just want to Buy. A. Suit. THIRD INTERACTION: At this point, a third salesperson sees us on our own and asks if we need help. I'm not going to rip on him too hard because he was the only person that was actually willing to spend time with us and walk us through the inventory and the different options. The frustrating part was that he seemed to think I wanted to try on every single suit in every single color, or that I was incredibly inflexible in the specific detailing I wanted in the suit. He kept pointing out how certain things would have to be custom, or that they didn't carry every style in every color in every size, or that they couldn't show me all the styles they had. We were eventually able to get answers to the questions that we had (color options, general range of styles, general idea of different fits), but damn, it was like pulling teeth to get them. I don't normally write reviews like this but our experience was just so poor, especially compared to the experience we had at JCrew just prior. They were busy too, but we still managed to get useful answers and help from a salesperson without being treated like a waste of time. Best place to buy suits, hands down. If you're like me, there's a few things I never buy online: dress shoes and suits. Suit Supply is staffed with experts in matching your body to one of their many lines of suits that I think are at the perfect cross section between quality and price. In my opinion, they are the best "off the rack" suits you can buy, especially with their in-house tailoring services. The variety they have here is amazing, everyone sales associate looks like they came straight out of the catalog. Impeccable style and presentation on full display. I needed a new suit for a friends wedding and I was immediately greeted by Josh. He helped me pick out a nice navy suit from the Sienna line, pointed out key differences between this line & the Napoli (which I heard so much about). Was very helpful throughout the fitting process and I couldn't be any happier. In 4 business days my suit was ready to be picked up (with alterations). I love Suitsupply but the sales representatives need to be more welcoming. Ok, I walked in there not dressed to kill as I just came from the gym. I wasn't planning on impressing anybody and I'm just there to shop. Nobody bothered to ask me if I need help except for this new girl that I asked (only female in the store). Even when she was helping me the other reps kept pulling her away to tend to the other costumer. I see all these reps offering other guys some water just because they are dressed up. I get it, it's obvious they get commissions from sales but they could have gotten more from me because I was willing to spend that night for gifts if it wasn't for their judgmental eyes they thought I didn't have money just because I wasn't dressed to kill. Btw, this review was 2016 and it's now 2019. After providing them my info when they asked (check their reply on the comment) they never reached out. Just shows how they value your their costumers. Compared to the Broome Street location, I really didn't care for this Suit Supply's set up and how they ran their system. You're put on a waitlist for service and you're kind of bound by it because the sizes that you'll possibly need are stocked in the back. Update: Suit Supply made this right. Thank you This place is a huge risk. I came back today w pants (Siennna blue that were tailored too tight. They were tailored by SuitSupply and even the tailor today agreed they were too tight. Upon realizing there wasn't enough fabric to make the alteration his manager declined to give me an exchange. Great product, beautiful stores and excellent quality merchandise for the $. The catch? Don't expect anyone to give a $&@! about your experience as a customer. 1. Advised salesperson that I needed suits altered by a specific date, if they could not meet the date, I wouldn't need them. Surprise! Not ready by agreed upon date. They did end up rushing the order and messengering to my home but not without alot of aggravation to get to that point. 2. Don't bother calling the store NO ONE EVER PICKS UP. EVER! 3. When you show up at the store without an appointment be prepared for a long wait, I waited 35 min only to find out they didn't have my suits ready. 4. The staff welcoming incoming customers are utterly overwhelmed and they are beyond rude. There were 15 people ahead of me waiting, with no one really caring WTF was happening. 5. 2 ties were missing from my order, texted sales person to let him know and to just credit my Amex as I didn't want to be bothered with going back and forth to get them. They shipped them to me, arriving after the event that I needed them for. Now I have to return them---undoubtedly that will be a time consuming fiasco. 6. Spent close to $3k and never got a receipt. I was excited about Suit Supply but won't shop here again. What should be a fun experience ends up being a real pain in the ass. It's a shame, but something tells me it's a part of their strategy as after mentioning this to friends across the country they all had similar experiences. read more

UPDATED POST: I wanted to take a moment to update my previous rating of 1 star. The updated rating is based upon my experience working with Dawn at the Madison location. She's professional, personable and will even make you laugh... Her attention to detail and commitment to excellence is felt when working with her. I wish I could confirm my loyalty to the brand but I can't at this time. If I were to ever shop again I'd likely make an appointment with her only or shop online. PREVIOUS POST: It's with great disappointment that I write this review. But I felt it was necessary for me to share how awful Suit Supply brick and mortar locations are. I travel frequently for work and and often find myself stumbling upon a SS locations. They are all the same. Madison, Soho, Miami, King of Prussia, Georgetown have all proven that I should stop wasting my time with the brand. The sales staff are so full of themselves! I shop luxury brands quite a bit and one would think that in Chanel, LV, Dior, Balenciaga or evening FENDI that you'd receive such treatment. However, it's little ole Suit Supply that just can't seem to get it right. At first I thought it was just me however, I can't tell you the amount of times I've heard other clients express frustration. I even purchased in an emergency recently and the tailoring suggestions and alterations are awful! 2 suits for the same person reworked completely different. To the point where I specifically requested no cuffs on my pants and I get home only to find cuffs. In a rush I was unable to try on the suit but I put my faith in their team and I don't want to wear either of them. The Madison Ave location needs to pull it together. Had a great first experience. Stumbled in while tuxedo shopping for my parents and walked out with a tuxedo set. The suit- an overall very nice tuxedo. Fit my dad like a glove. Simple/basic tailoring was required and was performed by their in-house tailors. Service- our sales rep (a well dressed female) was very attentive and patient as we browsed through the options. She was extremely knowledgeable and made the process extremely quick and easy. Price - over all in-line with other comparable suit companies but... wow we got a great deal. Their tux combo is extremely well priced. Personally their tuxedos are not to my taste but I would definitely go back for everyday suits.
