We were traveling on our way home and ordered Charleston's from our phone which we have done numerous times before. We got our order home (Champagne salad, Spinach dip and chicken avocado sandwich). We were very hungry as it had been a long day. Got the sandwich out and no fries were with it. The many times that we have ordered there, they have always included the fries. I'm thinking that they could have asked us in the pick up lane if we wanted a side as when we got there, it was not busy at all. When you are really looking forward to having something that should be included and it is not there, makes you kind of mad. The food was good, but they should complete the order. That's a lot of money to pay for just a sandwich. And yes, we did give an 18% tip so I don't think they were mad? I feel like you should get what you pay for. read more

We had dinner at Charleston in Carmel last night. The waitstaff were great. Spinach artichoke dip was yummy. Salad with warm croissants hit the spot. Filets, prime rib, salmon and blackened fish meals were above our expectations. The restaurant was full , but you wouldn't know that from the attention paid to our table . My husband and I received free dessert for our birthdays. He ordered the key lime pie .10 out of 10 rating, coming from a guy raised in Florida ! I had the cheesecake. It was huge and delicious. Lots of sharing going on. So if you are looking for a great place to eat, try Charleston in Carmel out. We used to live in castleton and the Charlestons's there was our go to restaurant. Yeah, things got off to a good start, but quickly went downhill from there. The artichoke dip was pretty decent. It came with sour cream, which was even more yummy than the dip. The chips were outstanding: warm, thin, and fresh. In fact, they were so thin that they broke in the dip! That's not really a complaint. Well, it's a very minor complaint. I don't know how to fix that problem. I wouldn't really want them to change how they do the chips. Then the salad. Soggy. Yuck. So they had to redo that. She claimed it was because it had too much dressing, but the lettuce itself was soggy. I've only seen that with dressed salad that's been sitting around too long. I've had plenty of overly dressed salads. They aren't soggy. They just have too much dressing on them. Oh, and I told them no croutons, but it still came with croutons. It came with a decent croissant, but they took that back with the salad. They forgot to bring out another croissant with my replacement salad, which I only realized later. The replacement croissant was kinda soggy. Not crisp like the first one. And too sweet. Ok, let's move on to the main course: the filet. It had this weird smoky flavor. It almost tasted like bacon. Some people might actually like that flavor. I've never had a steak like it, and it tasted pretty bad. I returned it. They took the mashed potatoes with it. Those actually weren't bad. By the time they brought back the menu to see if I wanted something different, I had basically lost my appetite. I asked them for just a side of mashed potatoes. They looked good. But they were cold. So they microwaved them. They actually tasted pretty good after that, thought I have to admit, the fact that they had to microwave some of my food just rubs me the wrong way. Anyway, like I said, it tasted pretty good. Then I asked to take my artichoke dip and chips to go. The waitress brought me some styrofoam containers to put them in. Hmmmm...this isn't exactly a cheap Chinese dive. When I pay $50+ for a meal, the least the server can do is pack up my leftovers for me. At this point, at your typical halfway decent restaurant, it's pretty much standard practice to offer a free dessert to make up for the poor experience. I actually wasn't voluntarily offered any kind of compensation. So I asked for a free dessert, which was a little embarrassing, but it seemed like I deserved it, and as i said previously, it seems like standard practice at a restaurant of this caliber. The server told me she'd have to check with the manager. So ok, that was weird. I didn't realize that was such a big deal. Again, that is such standard practice. I could go to Chili's and they'd offer me a free dessert! In fact, maybe I SHOULD go to Chili's next time I want a steak! Actually, I kind of like Chili's, but I digress... My point is I assumed Charleston's was "a cut above" a Chili's-style chain restaurant. So she came back and said I could have a free dessert after all. Great! May I have that to go, since I no longer have an appetite? "Ummmm....I don't know if my manager will let you have a free dessert TO GO. I'll be right back!" Weird. The dessert is the same if I eat it here or take it home. It's the exact same slice of cheesecake, eventually making its way to the exact same place: my stomach! Well, I finally did get the cheesecake to go. Man, all I wanted was a decent steak tonight. Epic fail. read more

Used to be my absolute favorite place to eat. Not anymore. I travel for work and eat out daily. I am used to high prices. Tonight was frustrating. I wanted prime rib only to learn not served during the week. Chose pork chops, and they were tough. Salad came wrong, and my meal came in the middle of eating my new salad. Sat while I ate my salad. The prices are nuts. They charge $7.00 for a baked potato. They charge $9.00 for a salad. That's $16.00 for about $1.50 worth of ingredients. Nuts. Ruth's Chris gets $13.00 for a one pound loaded potato, which cut in half is $6.50 per person. I am sure I seem petty, but this is just insane. The meal was not good. I have been a customer since they opened. It will be a long time before I return, if ever. read more

We always love Charleston's. I've been going here for as long as I can remember. It was always the go to place in Westfield and it has survived the restaurant boom in that area while many others have not faired as well. Their chicken fingers with mashed potatoes is next to none. They are incredible! They also have very good salads. My mother has been getting the same salad (with the famous chicken fingers on it) for years. She never waivers from it because it's just that good. The atmosphere is calm and feels fancy, but isn't. It can be pricier than say a Chili's. But the quality is better, so it's worth it. read more

Unfortunately night and day difference. I just had the Ruben tonight from carry out. Their was Very little corned beef! Almost none. Is this because your staff does not think you will not drive back and complain? The same was worse Sunday before last. I ordered pasta with beef. Sorry to say their was not even an ice cream scoop of Beef. I took it to my 89 year old parents and it was down right carry out robbery! This i spent over $60.00 on pasta no beef. Quite possibly the worst service I have EVER received in any restaurant! There was a party of four of us, meeting at 2pm on a Sunday afternoon to have some drinks, lunch and conversation. This place was recommended by one person in our group, as the other three had never been to a Charleston's before. We got off to a bad start, with one in our party requesting a drink menu. The server didn't offer to get one, and she said that she didn't know what was currently on draft. No offer to go find out either. We finally located one mixed in with the regular menus, and checked it out. We ordered drinks, and the server came back to take our food order before we even had any drinks in front of us. Since we hadn't even looked at the food menu yet, we told her we weren't ready. She rolled her eyes and walked away. When she came back, we placed our orders. One person for a sandwich, one person the soup and salad, and two of us were planning to split a burger. The sandwich came out, no problem, the salad half of the soup and salad came out, and the split burger arrived. The burger was not split, all on one plate, with no additional plate in sight. The server then asked if she could get us anything else, and I asked if we could get a plate to share the burger and fries. She again acted put out, but went and retrieved a plate for us. Upon returning with the plate (we had just received our food) she asked how we wanted to handle the check. I was kind of taken aback, as this is what I would have expected from a breakfast diner, but not from a place with a $15 burger. I told her I would take responsibility for the entire check, and she immediately pulled it out and gave it to me. At this point, I was dumbfounded. The person in our party who had ordered the soup and salad had not even (and never did) received his soup. At this point, I asked to speak with a manager. The young man who came over to inquire acted as though he was overwhelmed and had no idea how to handle an issue like this. His offer of free "life changing" cheesecake was not going to cut it. I explained that we had not even received all of our food yet. He offered to get the missing soup, but by this point, our lunch mate didn't even want it. In all fairness, he did comp some of the bill, but it wasn't even about that. All we asked for was for the soup to be taken off. He comped almost everything, which was nice, but didn't address the issue. We were meeting there to catch up with friends who we hadn't seen in a while, and the terrible attitude and lack of service completely ruined that time. Food was ok, but definitely not worth what they were charging. To top it all off, I got an email from Open Table stating that we had not honored our reservation. I'm sure this was their way to save a couple of bucks on the referral fee that Open Table charges them. Perfect! read more

He ordered prime rib tonight- and after a long delay to receive our meals- it arrived cold. He sent it back & a few minutes later, a manager placed a plate in front of him, declaring. When I walk into a restaurant, I start asking myself questions. Do they greet you with a smile? (Or, do they greet you at all?). Is the menu so huge that it takes an hour to read it, or do they only try to do a few things well? Does the server refer to you as "Guys"? Do you have to beg for drink refills? (those should be automatic). Do you have to wait 30 minutes to get the bill? Charleston's is a happening place. The menu is relatively small, and that's a good thing. I had the 14oz Prime Rib, which was perfectly cooked and well presented. Even on a Monday night, the place was crowded, which is a good sign. Being that they're surrounded by a sea of casual dining competition, the fact that it's crowded says something about how they're doing. Word is out that this is a great place to eat. read more

The ribs are fall off the bone and bursting with flavor. And I really enjoyed their shrimp appetizer, as well as their fries and mashed potatoes. We had a anniversary party of 14 that included half small children. The staff were simply amazing. They worked their asses off. Got to try the spicy breaded shrimp (I think) for an app along with the queso dip. The "perfect margarita" was justly advertised. It was sooo good. Westfield's neighborhood Charleston's has been around since the beginning of the construction of the 146th bridge. Before the 146th bridge, the road turned south along a path that runs through the location of the Charleston's, and headed to the intersection at US 31. The restaurant was celebrated as something nice and new, and it has remained one of the nicest restaurants in the area since then. The bar area is friendly and almost always busy, you can normally find a place to sit, or you can get a table in the bar area pretty quickly. Outside the bar is their main seating area, which is warm and fairly quiet, and still is a very nice place to gather your family. The current construction probably is hampering business a little, but they have survived the major construction so far. If dining in is not in the cards, their carryout is fast and friendly, and very accurate. I love their chicken club salad, and their potato soup is the best by far. Everything on their menu is great. Service is normally great but one tip for the servers.... don't touch my perfect margarita shaker. I got it. 5 stars because it deserves it. read more
