Had dinner here on aThursday evening. The place was busy. The service and food were great. I had the Chicken Picatta with a house salad with Champagne Vinaigrette as my side. The salad was fantastic. The dressing was light and fresh. It came with a perfectly baked lightly toasted croissant that had a light sweetness to it. The chicken was a thin cut lighter (perfect!) portion on angelhair pasta. This evening I had dinner with my family at this beautiful restaurant. The ambiance is very comfortable & classic. I love the diner style kitchen! We had Donald as our server & he was very attentive, informative & just a pleasure to our night. We started off the night with the flat bread pizza, which was amazing. For our entrees we had the Top Sirloin w/ mash potatoes, the Chicken fried chicken w/ mashed potatoes & burgundy mushrooms, & the ribs w/mashed potatoes & carrots. A house salad came w/ the top sirloin steak entree & was good just wish I came with more tomatoes. The food was delicious! Everyone loved their entrees & bought extras to-go. Desert was the best, we had the Adams's Cheesecake. It was the perfect blind of rich & sweet. Parking wasn't hectic & the wait was bearable (30 minute wait on a Friday evening). The Am host Jordin I believe she said her name was, Was just a sweetheart. She was so kind and understanding on the phone and helped my wife get to are table. Didn't make her feel rushed or anything like some other host. The food here is amazing. Especially the prime rib which I wish was on the menu more! This has been our go to place for years. Every other time we have had great food and ok to good service. Last night, food was meh, service was slow and honestly just not even average on attentiviness. The blackened fish was not good, salads came out after the meal and were watery. Main dish salad was ok but came a very long time after other meals arrived. Took forever to get drinks and then forever to even put orders in. A waitress dropped an entire birthday cake as she was hurrying behind our table onto floor. Blamed a chair that had been placed there and had been there for well over an hour before this happened as the culprit but seriously she had walked by the chair countless times prior to this. She was just not being careful as the cake slid off the plate due to the foam/paper it was on slides around. It was very busy for a Thursday night and seemed to have plenty of staff. Front of house needs efficiency and customer service training and BOH was off on timing. Closer to 2 stars than 3 but hate to give 2 when in the past they usually deliver. read more

Let's start with service. Incredible. We had Mike, who was attentive, knowledgeable and always kept our drinks filled. When we left, not only did Mike wish us a good evening, but so did two other servers we passed along the way and another who held the door open for us. This wasn't just good service, it was professional service. The food was spectacular. Tuscan flatbread appetizer was good enough to ask for "refills" and eat it for the whole meal. All entrees were excellent. It was the kind of meal that can turn around someone's mood. The restaurant is beautiful inside, with exposed stone and brick. It was a little noisy, but that is to be expected with a packed house of people enjoying their food. 100% would recommend! read more

I am beyond infuriated by my dinner experience tonight. Yes I know today is Mother's Day and I know they were slammed all day. I made reservations and expected for them to be unbelievably busy. Believe me I understand I am a pastry chef and worked a 13 hour shift today before coming for dinner. The service was subpar at best. Our waitress pretty much ignored us till she realized her tip was in danger. She took our drink order then brought them out one at a time and had to be reminded that we didn't have all of them. When my salad arrived it had no dressing. The guy who brought it out left so fast I wasn't able to tell him I had no dressing. I sat there for almost 10 mins before our waitress came back to see how things were. When I told her I didn't have dressing she didn't apologize she went on same tangent about how she always puts it on the side because some people don't want it on the salad. I said ok that's fine but it's not on the side. I have none. She said nothing just walked away. I didn't get dressing till my entree arrived. My food wasn't hot. It was barely warm. My steak was dry and chewy and had no flavor. She also didn't bring my side of mushrooms. Again it was another 10 mins before she came to check on us and again no apology just turned around and left. When she finally brought them out they were ice cold. My Mother ordered a dish that was too spicy for her to eat. Nothing in the description said it was spicy or that it had red pepper flakes in it. If it had she wouldn't have ordered it. My daughter ordered a pork chop that was dried out and chewy and difficult to cut. The waitress waited till we were pretty much fed up and done, just sitting there with almost full plates not eating to come and bring the bill. When she saw we hadn't eaten very much she all of a sudden wanted to engage us and be super friendly and try to get us to order dessert. When I said no we definitely do not want dessert, she stopped with the over the top friendly demeanor and said oh were you not happy? I said no not at all and told her why. She didn't apologize, in fact she didn't even acknowledge what I said. She simply said I hope you have a good night and Happy Mother's Day. For what I paid for this meal the food should have been excellent and the service should have been exceptional. This has nothing to do with them being busy and everything to do with being a poor server. Like I said I work in this industry and know first hand how things go and how the kitchen runs. I understand wait times and all that. I don't have a problem with that. I do however have a problem with bad service and food that is quite frankly not good for being on the pricey side. The review below is EXACTLY as I posted on Charleston's website on June 16 - the day after Father's Day - the night in question. In the week that passed I received zero contact from anyone at Charleston's. My wife and I have dined at the Carmel Charleston's for more than a dozen years - it has been dependable and comfortable with sepcific dishes we enjoyed. We made a 7 PM reservation for Father's Day, and arrived promptly. We were told a table would be ready as soon as it had been cleaned. At just past 7:15 I asked how long it takes to clean a table. The female manager/shift manager, blonde, (I don't have her name and I don't want to wrongly accuse someone), asked for my name, which I gave. She asked if I said a different name - the lobby of the restaurant was crowded and loud. This time I repeated my name, spelling it, in a louder tone of voice to ensure being heard. She picked up a couple menus and had us follow her into the dining room. While being escorted to our table, she said to my wife she had never been so insulted before. My wife asked by what, but did not get an answer. My wife, who has 30 years experience in food service, mostly as a chef, then told her to breath/relax, and she took offense to that. Something was definittely off. When she passed by our table later my wife stopped her, tried to offer an apology for whatever slight was perceived, and she couldn't leave fast enough. Our server Chelsea was not the least bit friendly either. We order our food - chicken piccata - for each of us - was my favorite at Charleston's. It took just over 40 minutes for our food to be served. My wife's chicken was tough (mine was ok), and both orders seem to be getting smaller and smaller with each visit. The asparagus on both our plates in the piccata was hard as a rock - felt like chewing a tree trunk. I had the glazed carrots, which for the first time was served on the same plate as the picata. My pasta tasted like the glaze, and my carrots tasted like the piccata sauce. I have ALWAYS had the glazed carrots in a separate dish. When our server finally came back to our table, and I mentioned the various issues just described, she said she would get a manager. The blonde female manager came to our table, but kept walking right past our table. A few minutes later another manager approached our table - tall gentleman, lanky - Adam Skees, to whom we repeated the same concerns that we shared with the server (who never offered to refill our water glasses). At NO point did Adam offer to fix the problem. Instead, he made excuses as to why the carrots were served on the entree plate, did not address my wife's tough chicken at all, nor did he address the hard as a rock asparagus - two piles on our plates. We had the same issue with the asparagus in the picata when we last visited on May 11. Our server that evening, a delight FYI, resolved that problem immediately - brought us a dish of fresh, properly cooked asparagus. Adam, an alleged manager, never made such an obvious offer. He simply made excuses, and left us completely unhappy. Our Father's Day dinner was the worst experience we have ever had at Charleston's, and I think our hard-earned dollars can best be spent elsewhere. We live 10 minutes away and for a nice break, to go to Charleston's or Texas Roadhouse right next door, is good after long days - very good serevice and steaks at TR. read more

Visited Charlestons for lunch during the Hamilton County Great Dine Out. The program provided a free Spinach Dip Appetizer. I normally don't care for spinach dip (with artichokes or otherwise) but this was good. My wife really liked it. For lunch we both got the soup and salad combo. I got the potato soup and my wife got the chicken tortilla. Both were good but we both preferred the potato. The chicken tortilla was more a thick cream type rather than a broth base. It was good... just preferred the other. The salads were normal house salads. The lettuce quality was good. The Champagne dressing was fabulous!! Would absolutely order it again. We got croissants included with our lunch. They were hot and fresh. My wife said the honey butter was "to die for". Our server was wonderful! Very knowledgeable about the menu, offered great suggestions, and was very friendly. I wish I could recall her name to give her a shout out. Our food was served promptly and the bill was accurate ... even with the free appetizer taken off. The service alone would give Charleston's a 5 star. It is additive that the food was also good and the atmosphere was very nice as well. We will return! read more

My girlfriend and I visited on a Tuesday evening, and we were seated immediately. The ambiance was fantastic, and our server was excellent--friendly, attentive, and professional, without being intrusive. We started with two drinks, an appetizer, and two entrees: ribs and meatloaf. The appetizer arrived within five minutes, followed shortly by our drinks. We tried a peach bellini and a lemon drop martini; both were delicious, but the lemon drop martini was our favorite. The peach bellini was served frozen, which caught us by surprise, though it was still tasty. When it came to our entrees, we were both impressed. They arrived hot and with generous portions. We were so full by the end that we couldn't finish our plates--a pleasant surprise for a nice restaurant! We also wanted to try their bread pudding, which looked amazing, but we were simply too full. We're already looking forward to coming back and trying more items on the menu. Highly recommend! read more

I've found myself at Charleston's twice this year - once for a happy hour with coworkers and once with friends for a late lunch. With so many dining options in Carmel and nearby, a chain restaurant like Charleston's isn't top of mind for me. Each time I've visited, I've been impressed with the quick and friendly service and the restaurant space in general - although, there is not a patio. The food is good, but not great. If I'm going to spend money to dine out, there are quite a few other places I'd opt to go before Charleston's. Still, it's not bad. read more

I don't know where to start. I arrived around 1pm on a Thursday, and was seated quickly. The server came and took my drink order while dropping off the menu. After some time I received my drink and put in my order. This is where things took a turn I was brought soup which was not the soup I ordered and within 2 minutes of getting my soup my entire came which was the filet with the vegetable medly. so I don't know who messed up here, my server for bringing the wrong soup. Someone at the pass firing the wrong entre or the cook who served the most over cooked veggies in the world. Oh, my server returned and I pointed out the wrong soup and she apologized, but come on tomato basil is red I ordered potato. The good. The steak was cooked perfectly for my taste a perfect rare even though I ordered med rare. And when I got the correct soup it was great. read more

Atmosphere is classy casual. You would be okay to dress up or go casual. Cozy feel to the whole place. The service was good. A lot of different people helping to bring drinks, food, etc which I always love. Our waitress was prompt and kind but not overly friendly. Drinks- blueberry mule was delicious. I'm kind of a Moscow mule snob, and this one was delicious. My husband had a glass of Buffalo Trace. I don't think they have a huge bourbon selection, as they had no list. Food: the croissants - chefs kiss. Soooo good. I don't think they are complimentary but def ask for a basket of fresh croissants. My husband was super excited about order grouper. He thought it was for sure be served whole since it was $50 and it wasn't. He said it was delicious, but not worth the price tag. My prime rib was delicious. But also don't feel like it was worth $40. My son ordered the cheeseburger and asked for it plain and it came out with no cheese. They took it back to add cheese and manager brought it back out. No issue what so ever. Simple mistake, no harm no foul. Overall this was a great experience and I would come back for a special occasion to try some other items. Food was good here! I really enjoyed the service & I had such a fun server. Her name is Katrina! Super energetic and lovely, phenomenal hospitalizing and super great with communication. We ordered salad w/ croutons & a crossiant( and these croutons were so delicious! I love the crossiants, they were so fluffy & butter, straight perfection. I ordered steak with mashed potatoes and the other person ordered salmon w/ broccoli. The steak was seasoned, and cooked beautifully. The mashed potatoes were pretty creamy and rich. Felt like there was some sauce missing tho, that's okay. Nonetheless I didn't try the salmon/broccoli. At the end; they gave us a free complimentary cheesecake from Derek(manager) for being nice and patient about eveyrthing & we took that home and didn't get a chance to eat it since they were closing. Overall, great service & great food! Delicious dinner overall. Ambiance felt really calm and chill, it was a dark interior with some dim lights. Solid experience. 4/5! read more

The food was delicious, but the service for 4 people on a Sunday early evening was TERRIBLE. 45 mins to get a side salad?! 1 hr to get our entrees?!! and three parties who were seated in the same area AFTER we were got served before we did. Oh, was there a large party in the area? Yes but OTHER patrons who arrived after us STILL GOT SERVED before we did. Disappointing especially since it was my daughter's birthday. read more
