I worked in the all long ago and Charlie's was the best their was. Mom and pop shop with superior food. Today was a disappointment; no mom, no pop. Of course the menu had changed so I had to order something different. When I was handed my meal the fries were the biggest disappointment of all. No more hand cut on the spot fries. Just barely average frozen fries. Definitely not worth an almost $4 up charge. One less reason to visit the mall, sad. read more

My Free Combo Meal was about to expire, so I decided to pick up a Philly sandwich for my husband. I asked my husband if he enjoyed his sandwich and he grunted while he was stuffing his face. I ordered for Delivery, and expected good things. That's unfortunately not how it ended up. Per another review on here, if $10 is "affordable" for a large sandwich, then something is wrong. My large Philly Cheesesteak was MUCH smaller than expected, and quite honestly, it wasn't even close to decent. A Philly --- by their own menu, even! --- is supposed to have peppers, onions and mushrooms, and all this had was unseasoned meat and cheese. Their marketing, "#1 Cheese Steak in the World," seems pretty pathetic when Subway does a better impersonation of a Philly Cheese Steak. read more

This is the place I always choose to eat at when I'm at West Town Mall. The steak sandwiches are good and they prepare them right in front of you. It's hard to find a good affordable steak sandwich and this is you're place. I will even go to the mall sometimes just to order one of these. Believe me it's hard to get me at the mall when I don't want to be there. My favorite is just the steak sandwich (comes w/ bell peppers, mushrooms, and onions in it), topped w/ cheese, and finished w/ lettuce & tomato. They also have fries but most of the time if you get them to go it's like anywhere they're soggy by the time you get home. If you are at the mall and find yourself hungry then check this place out. This place in the mall was so good. They cook it all in front of you and it's fresh. The bread is soft enough for those with dentures to eat and the cheese and onions grilled to perfection. My wife gave it an A+ on her list of places to visit again!!!! read more

First, I caught them a busy day - so they could be better. There was a line & a guy taking orders on an iPad - great idea but he couldn't understand me & I couldn't understand him, so that started a bad process. I couldn't understand the cashier- it was a combination crowd noise & broken English. This led me ordering an extra set of fries along with the ultimate fries ( more about that in a minute). I had requested a large drink but was handed a regular drink. The girl handling drinks promptly switched to a large. Thanks I ordered the Bacon Cheesesteak & ultimate fries & a drink. I ended up paying $13+ for it. The ultimate fries were just terrible- for the $4 or 5 that I paid for them it should have been a boat load vs what looked the size a medium to small fry at McDonalds. The ranch dressing was terrible as well. The sandwich was typical mall type steak - it was a sheet of meat thrown on a grill and at best it was only two layers thick. As someone who has spent time in Philly this was not a true Philly sandwich. All in all its mall food so keep your expectations at that level and you'll be fine. read more

Today I recently visited Charley's Philly cheesesteak at West Town Mall. I was disappointed when I got the sandwich and found it was made wrong (wrong cheese)... so they had to make me another one. My new sandwich was made wrong; they left peppers on it and it had no mushrooms... which was the whole reason why I was ordering that specific sandwich. Order accuracy 100% for this past year with no complaints from me at all. The food is freshly cooked to order and is delicious. The seasoned fries covered with cheese and bacon is awesome and in good portion size. Their lemonade is very good. Polite and courteous attitudes by the employees has been my experience here. read more

This place was terrible. I ordered no tomato and no pickle. I AM ALLERGIC TO PICKLES. When my food came up it had tomatoes and pickles. I told them that I had ordered it without, the manager lady just took them off and threw them in the trash. She refused to make another one. It was so ridiculous!!!!!! Charley's used to be our favorite fast food place in the West Town mall. They changed things recently. Not only the look changed but the menu choices. Do you remember those wonderful fresh cut fries? Those fries have been replaced by fries that start out frozen. They seem to be going for speed over quality. They have two registers now. Do you remember having someone cut your sandwich with a knife just before closing it and handing it to you? They use some sort of moon shaped knife rolled across the open sandwich before handing it to you. I Amy be wrong but I expect business will go down for Charley's due to these changes. Charley's Steakery (now known as Charley's Grilled Subs has the best sandwiches and fries in Knoxville! Everything is made to order with fresh quality ingredients. Favorites are Philly Steak Deluxe, Ranch & Bacon fries, fresh lemonade. The staff is incredibly fast and friendly, prices are reasonable. Always has a high health score! Check it out next time you are in the West Town Mall...they cater too! read more
