I was hanging out at the mall and noticed they had a Charley's. I haven't been to one since the mall in my hometown closed down over ten years ago so decided to grab some dinner there. My sandwich, chicken cheesesteak, was hot, fries were fresh, and strawberry lemonade was one of the best I've had. It was not busy so service was speedy. I have no complaints. It may have been the fact that it was Sunday, or maybe this is normal, but sadly there was only one person working today. Don't get me wrong the food was good, and many other places were low on staff as well. At one point sadly the only person working had to leave (I presume to go to the bathroom), leaving the place without anyone with a line forming. So back to the food. The chicken Philly and fries was tasty. Not amazing, but tasty. Will I come back, I guess it depends on if more than one person is working. Service was very slow, and that really isn't the one persons fault. I would blame management for this error. read more

Wife had a craving for a Philly cheesesteak, and this was the closest place.... should have gone somewhere else. Was not expecting to spend $25 on two sandwiches and an order of "Gourmet" fries. The Philly meat was chewy, and not fresh tasting at all, the way they put the sub together was deceiving, it looks like it was piled high with meet, but the truth was that the small amount of meet that was on it was put on top of a large amount of lettuce, the cheese tasted like rubber, and the bread was like eating a microwaved 2 day old bread. The fries were ok, but the nacho tasted like a yellow version of the cheese in the sub, topped with bacon colored salt chunks. The staff was nice, but that was about the high point of this place. This was the first time trying it, and it will be my last time. If your looking for a great Philly Steak go to The Great Steak & Potato Company, or Penn Station. read more

Got food poisoning resulting in ER visit on 10/16. Called the store. They couldn't care less. No callback from management.

Bad experience. Not recommended. The girl behind the counter tried to ignore a fries that come with the sub. When I pointed it out (shown in the overhead picture), they throw me the other fry with a stinky attitude. The sub doesn't taste fresh and is quite soggy. Below is a pic of their $4.49 "Ultimate Fries". Less than 30 fries total. Recipe for scale. Apology for the half eaten picture though. The neighboring FIVE GUYS and QDOBA offer much better food and service. read more

I agree with some of the other reviews as far as the deception of amount of meat on a Philly cheese steak. In my experience Phillys are made with meat cheese on bottom with tomato and lettuce on top. They put the meat on top which does give a deceptive appearance. Taste was ok, but nothing special. Bread could stand to be toasted better. I thought the fries were good. Cooked to order and a nice crisp taste. Staff was friendly. 3 stars means avg experience to me. Not great, but not horrible. I prefer Dibellas for quality size and price. read more

In the new mall at liberty way, menu looked descent so decided to give them a try.... the only good thing to mention would be that the staff was very friendly and seemed to be working hard, they were pretty busy... Other than that the rest of the experience was pretty awful... First off the prices are not great, regular philly cheese steak drink and cheese fries was about 13 bucks. Mall food can tend to be more expensive but for that price you can go to a sit down place for lunch and get a much better meal... the philly had very little meat and tasted like JTM freezer quality, the pop was flat and the cheese sauce on the fries was similar to what you would get at the gas station nacho pump... the bacon on the fries tastes like pure salt. I felt awful after eating, like I just had lunch from a road side truck stop. ( not the unique diner type truck stops either) Another thing to mention was that the line was filthy, the vegetables looked pale in color or brown like they were from days before or not kept fresh. The mayo had a shine to it like it was not kept cold. The line looked sloppy, a breeding ground for foodbourne pathagens, only a matter of time before someone gets sick. The crew was working hard and very nice but a bit sloppy as well, dirty chef jackets, often not wearing gloves and I feel bad saying this but the cook was sweating over the griddle.... :/ They made my philly wrong too, not a huge deal and very nice about it , quick to correct but still something to mention. Definitely not expecting a 5 star joint when I got in line but still a major let down, I will not return. I rarely give one star but this will go down as one of the worst places I have eaten at, due to poor quality, high prices and dirty setup. If it were a 7 buck meal I wouldn't be as disappointed.... I'm not sure how Charley's can claim they have the "#1 Cheesesteak in the World." If this was the last place on earth to get a cheesesteak, they still wouldn't be #1. They serve pre-cooked frozen meat that is reheated on a griddle and call it "fresh." The meat is tough, rubbery, and drier than dry. When I asked to make a simple substitution to a sandwich, I was told "No, we don't do any substitutions." Next time you're craving a Cheesesteak or Chicken Teriyaki, drive right past Charley's and straight to Penn Station. read more

This was by far the worst experience I've ever had eating out. The manage/owner was not friendly at all. The fries were cold and the sandwich was not made correctly. He did not allow refills on my drink nor was there a sign posted not stated no refills. Extremely disappointed in the customer service and over all experience. read more
