    Lomo Saltado

Charlie's Grill is a small but yummy Peruvian spot in NoHo with authentic cuisine. I came in for the lomo saltado and was so happy with the portion. Perfectly seasoned and flavorful topped with onions and tomato, loved the flavor so much. The beef was a bit tough and less tender than I hoped. Staff is super friendly and the restaurant has a mom & pop feel. Would definitely come back to try new dishes.

The food is absolutely delicious. We ordered the lomo saltado, ceviche mixto and the arroz chuefa especial - all 3 dishes were fantastic. The service is really nice - they are welcoming and also explain dishes very well. Highly recommended.

Food: delicious & fresh. Really enjoyed the Chicharron de Mariscos (Small) - I substitute the yucca for more sweet plantains and comes with the salsa criolla and a white cream sauce. Food is served with complimentary toasted bread too. Spent about $29 with tip. Venue: clean and nice dinning for small or large groups. Has large tvs, clean bathrooms, and parking Staff: very nice and friendly

Mi amore calamari so so good oh my God! let me tell you the smell divine, then then the presentation is just beautiful, gorgeous perfectly laid out with; one of my favorite things very thinly sliced onions. And Charlie is just such a sweet, kind soul and he is present in conversation while still handling all the task running a restaurant. It's very impressive. I was very very happy when I left! I would go back there any day of the week.

Was looking forward to visiting this place because i had seen some videos on Instagram and it's close to home, so I went with my sister. Sadly, it was just mid. The tallarines were bland and the only thing that saved the meal was that milanesa was cooked well and the aji was really good. We also got an order of platanos and I could have passed on those personally. My sister's surf and turf saltado was also bland and the shrimps were overcooked and tough so even my niece didn't enjoy them and she loves shrimp. Service was great, couldn't make a complaint about that. Prices are reasonable but also wasn't satisfied. Definitely not the worst Peruvian food I've had but def not of top quality.

Good evening. Today my daughter and I visited this Peruvian restaurant in North Hollywood. The truth is, the food is overpriced. We ordered papa a la huancaina and two lomos saltados. The huancaina lacked more flavor. And the white rice was hard, like it was from yesterday. Forgive my sincerity, but everything should be fresh, since the prices are so high. Thank you. Feedback

Nice experience at Charlie's Grill. Very nice sized portions for my order, at fair prices. Food was not salty and service was very friendly. Parking could be a little tight, but luckily I found a spot outside. Interior Ambiance could be improved and the menu could also be improved via pictures and descriptions of items for new Peruvian food customers. Luckily I knew a few of the popular dishes. Definitely recommend if you're hungry.

Everything was delicious! Took a while for the food to come out but I guess it takes times to put out really good food. Big portions of omo saltado, tallarin verde, tallarin de carne were all very good. Solid green hot sauce as well. Had to get the maracuya for a drink as well. Would definitely come back!

Was craving Peruvian food so much But wanted to stay close to home. I went to try Charlie's Grill. Well... food was ok I'm a big fan of Peruvian food And I must say I give it a 3/10 all my proteins were overcooked it was also lacking that mmmmm mmm mmm moment with each bite not so flavorful. Food was there in front of me... but not there to say I'll come back. My brother said he agreed with me the food was just ok but he would not go back. We had way better Peruvian food elsewhere. Side of plantains were dried too. Service was great Felt bad for our server he was the only one there running around all over doing everything. He was nice and a sweetheart. There was a bit of wait time to get our food out. Sadly it didn't make my taste buds dance.

This was one of those dining experiences that sticks with you, and not just because the food was amazing, but because the hospitality made it feel like you were being welcomed into someone's home. We started with the Yuca Frita with Huancaína, and it was the perfect introduction to the menu. The yuca fries were fried beautifully, crispy on the outside, soft and fluffy on the inside. The huancaína sauce was rich, creamy, and full of flavor. That yellow sauce had a subtle warmth and depth without overpowering the yuca. It was comforting, and impossible to stop dipping. Next up was the Lomo Saltado and woah this dish alone is worth the visit. We ordered it with ribeye and chicken thigh, and the combination was incredible. Everything was sauteed perfectly with onions, tomatoes, and cilantro, creating that classic savory, tangy, umami-packed flavor Peruvian cuisine is known for. The meat was tender and juicy, the vegetables were cooked just right, and the French fries soaked up all that flavor beautifully. Served alongside fluffy white rice, it was hearty, soooo satisfying, and incredibly well balanced. You could tell this dish was made with intention and experience. We also tried the calamari which was another solid hit. And a first for me! Lightly fried, tender, and not rubbery at all. It was clearly fresh and cooked properly. It paired really well with everything else on the table and made for a great shareable dish. But the real star of the night was a dish that completely surprised my partner and I! It ended up being our favorite dish, and it was the Tigre de Leche. THIS was hands down one of the freshest, most vibrant things we tried. The citrus was bold and super lemony, in the best way possible. You could taste the lime juice, the chile, onion, and cilantro all working together to create something bright, refreshing, and layered. It was zesty, slightly spicy, and incredibly clean tasting. One of those dishes where every spoonful wakes up your palate. If you're a ceviche fan or just love bold citrus flavors, do NOT skip this. It is a definite MUST try. Another thing that deserves a special mention is their iconic green sauce. It seriously went with everything we ordered. Creamy, herby, and just the right amount of kick, it elevated every dish from the yuca and calamari to the Lomo Saltado. We found ourselves reaching for it nonstop. Seriously one of those sauces you immediately wish you could take home. The customer service truly elevated the entire experience. Fabrisio, the owner, was phenomenal! He took the time to personally explain each dish, walk us through the flavors, and even share the story of how his restaurant came to be. You can feel the passion he has. Not just for Peruvian cuisine, but for creating a welcoming space for people to enjoy it. Super nice guy, super chill, and genuinely down-to-earth. The whole place gave off strong family vibes, which made the meal even more enjoyable. Shoutout to Melissa as well, who was serving us. She was attentive, kind, and made sure we had everything we needed without ever making us feel rushed. The service felt thoughtful and personal, not transactional. Over all we had the best experience, truly. Whether you're new to Peruvian food or already love it, this spot is a gem. We left full, happy, and already planning our next visit. We will be back and have already recommended this place to my family and friends! Thanks so much for having me. :D

I got a whole chicken with the sides and I decided to try the Peruvian ceviche. The chicken was good, seasoning was there. It was already precut for me so that's was kind. I was really looking forward to the ceviche and it was not good. The lime juice or the leche de Tigre was very bitter, and it just didn't taste good... Something was off about the ceviche, perhaps it spoiled quickly as my drive back home was an hour, i unfortunately had to throw it away because it did not taste edible. Service is quite friendly, and quick. I'd come give it a second try for the ceviche, maybe it was not the freshest batch or my commute was too long but I don't think food spoils that rapidly. Either way I definitely recommend the rotisserie chicken with the sides!

The ambiance is reminiscent of an 80s fast food restaurant, with fixed tables and bench seating. Although it was lunchtime, there were plenty of tables and chairs for us to choose from. I had seen photos online of their asada burrito, and I was so excited to try it! It looked amazing. I added the chile relleno burrito on the recommendation of the woman who took our order, which also looked fantastic. Well, for starters ... the burritos didn't look like that in real life. The prices are pretty high for what you get. Our burritos were missing the "free guac" that they tout, which was disappointing. And unfortunately, the quality of the meat was pretty mediocre - our steak was largely chewy and there were large pieces of gristle and/or fat, which made for an unpleasant bite. Flavor-wise it fell flat, too. The carne asada burrito and the chile relleno burritos were pretty bland - and they shouldn't be! Mexican food is known for its flavor! Sigh. Finally, the burritos were poorly wrapped and tore almost immediately, falling to the plate and necessitating a spoon or fork, which defeats the purpose of a burrito. Service is somewhat slow, so you would think they had plenty of time to season the food and properly wrap it. I'm not sure what happened, but I doubt I'd return. Bummer. I **really** wanted to like it.

On one such date night, our most recent, Chio's managed to deliver what they usually do - filling Peruvian fare that contributed even more to the confidence that we'll eat here again down the line. We're grateful to have a Peruvian place in the neighborhood (we're lucky enough to be in the middle of the two Van Nuys locations) and the time has come to talk about it. I got the pasta sampler - the Fettuccine Dos Sabores - house made pesto fettucine; a not-quite-Alfredo, Peruvian cheese fettucine, both topped with steak and grated parmesan. I'd be remiss not to mention the au jus that made the creaminess of both pastas shine. The result was a savory steak and pasta dish that almost ate like a cheesy stew - which worked. I had enough of the cheese sauce in my beard to attest to the positive experience. And the spouse got Tacu Tacu a Lo Pobre, Chio's crunchy rice plate. It was alluring because the crunchy rice included beans in its makeup. Of course, served with grilled steak, a fried egg and fried plantains. The spouse observed the menu and Yelp pictures, and she thought it looked as advertised. She just wasn't sure if the rice and beans were supposed to be crunchier. She would have appreciated more of a bite in that direction. Sometimes, the good places don't need to be four and five stars to be gems. The ones that are alright, that you don't mind coming back to, to have at your faves or try something new, the continued patronage says it all. Looking forward to having us another meal at Chio's soon enough.
