With that being said, I ordered a sausage and pepperoni pizza and a spicy shrimp pizza. First off, the sausage and pepperoni pizza was immaculate. To explain, the crust was homemade and crispy with great flavor. Likewise, the pepperoni was delicious and helped elevate the flavor. Also, the cheese was perfect with just the right amount of grease. Finally, the sauce had a savory tomato flavor which was excellent. I just wish they put more on the pizza. In similar fashion, the spicy shrimp pizza was very good as well. To breakdown, the shrimp tasted fresh and had great flavor. My only complaint was that the pizza was a little too spicy for my taste. I still enjoyed it though. To put it concisely, Zuppardi's Apizza has some of the best pizza I've ever had in my life.

My husband and I came on a Tuesday afternoon and immediately sat down. Was crowded already! We split a small antipasto salad and small classic pie (sausage). The antipasto was straight from a jar type of vibe, but the pizza made up for it!

I loved my visit here. I will definitely be back…read more I grew up in northern NJ in an era of family businesses. In fact, it was common in the 80's and 90's to see multiple generations working to provide their customers the best... I had that experience yesterday. Upon walking into the spotless dining room, I saw Nonna/Mom/Great Aunt in the first booth looking over the operation while the next generation was busy in the kitchen - and working in concert with the youngest family member who was working the floor. Fantastic. So friendly, so heartwarming. I also watched as "regulars" came in for their dinner. They ALL stopped by the kitchen entry to say hello to all employees and each employee greeted them by name. I hope to one day achieve this status. The food was good. I had a side salad, fried calamari, and a small pizza (half plain, half pepperoni and ricotta). Everything was fresh, tasty, and really well cooked. I was very happy to be a part of a dinner service there. I am looking forward to trying an entree - I have a craving for veal... maybe later this week. My only knock on my experience is that their sauce is very simple, and, in my opinion, lacks a little tang to stand up to the pizza cheese and toppings. But the crust was almost clinically perfect. My half pepperoni and ricotta side was slightly floppy in the middle - but I have to take responsibility for that as it was a tough order. Each half of my pizza cooks much differently. The plain cheese side was perfect. I can't wait to go back.

Plenty of street parking and a dedicated parking lot. I was promptly greeted at the door by a hostess who cashed me out and brought our food out (Medium tomato pie with mozzarella, small sausage, pepperoni, and mushroom and a slice of flourless chocolate cake: $50+). All-in-all, the takeout process was great. A bit pricy in my opinion, but somewhat expected given the area and hype around this place. Onto the food... I had the original tomato with mozzarella. My wife had the same but with mushrooms, sausage, and pepperoni. In my opinion, the medium is more like a typical large and a small was more like a typically medium. So, you do get your money's worth in quality and portion size. Definitely Neapolitan-style pizza done well. Light airy crust with a nice balanced sauce with a fresh taste. The cheese-sauce-crust ratio is just right. In conclusion, being the "pizza capital of the US" brings with it some VERY lofty expectations, in my opinion. However, I can honestly say I've had equally good Neapolitan-style pizza in southwest PA (and some equally overall good pizza in Pittsburgh, PA, Wildwood, NJ, Savannah, GA and Nashville, TN). Again, this is a solid pizza worth having but if this is an example of what earned New Haven, CT the "pizza capital" moniker, then whoever dubbed New Haven, CT with that moniker needs to travel more of the US.
