Stopped by for a grinder as these are highly praised in the area! My husband and I have gotten many chicken parm grinders across the state and can say this is top tier! We were recommended to add their freshly made eggplant on top and that just completely elevated the grinder to a whole new level! These things are gigantic too we were shocked! We even had some of this grinder the next day and it warmed up beautifully. Prices are a bit steep but quality is there. Definitely will make the trip up again when we are in the area. read more

Went here after garlic fest to see if all the rave reviews on pizzaholic were well deserved and lo behold, my fellow foodie yelper, Hank gave it a good score and recommendation, we just had to follow his lead...tried a cheese pizza with sausage and a meatball grinder. Pizza was very good-had a great crispy crust with a solid undercarriage and nice creamy cheese. Sauce was very tasty but my one knock was the lack luster of the sausage-missed something and IMO could use a better sausage but will order next time plain cheese or with meatball...let's get to the meatball...outta da' park! They are good, talkin' real good-great texture, flavor, moist and really tantalizing to the taste buds! The bread is exquisite...we did ask for extra sauce and they were light with it but quickly brought is a generous side of sauce so that satisfied us completely. This pizza travels fabulously! Reheats at home in an airfryer like it tasted originally, and that is quite unusual! That generally is the downfall to bring home leftover pizza, as you can never get it to taste the way it did when you physically have it at its location. The wait staff is really sweet and nice to see them have table service. They carry foxon park both in bottles, liters and fountain, so another bonus to this Thomaston hot spot! So I understand they're really busy I get it they're using pretty small oven to be cooking an 18 inch pizza in I'm all happy that they claim Wood fired but I probably would be cooking just a 10 or 12 inch pizzas in that oven and the rest in the deck ovens. I ordered two large pizzas one with meatballs and a chicken Parm sandwich walk in. I pay $68 kind of confusing but they're really really busy. Don't really wanna keep them tied up. Told me to be ready at 6:45 at 6:56. I get my meal. They hand me a chicken Parm dinner I said no I ordered a sub that would explain the price difference. Oh we're out of subs. I'm sorry I didn't take the order. I have no idea what that means it seems like it should've been said to me again I ordered a chicken Parm sub so instead I paid 19 or $20 for a chicken Parm dinner for my daughter. I will never be returning just want everyone to know there's a lot of pizza places around here that I would strongly recommend trying before you go to this place. read more

There's a lot of ooey gooey goodness going on with their meatball parm grinders. There's a good amount of melty cheezyness. They toast the grinder bread just right. It's just the right amount of toasty crunchness. If that's a thing. If it's not. I'm making it a thing. Haha...lol.... Their grinders come in 6" or 12" I have gotten take out while other times I've eaten in and all of them have been positive experiences. The restaurant has always been very clean. This place is a solid choice for pizza and meatball parm grinders in this area if you're not up for the drive to New Haven. It is a great next choice for this area for sure. Their oven is a wood fired oven. Their customer service isn't stellar or over the top. It is also surely not poor service at all. It's just your regular customer service. First time here today and I would definitely recommend. It was a little after noon and they weren't busy yet . We ordered a large cheese pizza and it arrived relatively quick .Now for the important stuff . We have been trying different places recently to break out of the routine of going either to Pepe's or Modern . While both are very good they are a bit of a haul for us, so it's been nice to find other options that are closer. We both enjoyed this pizza . Wood fired oven gave it the char and flavor we both love . The char was perfect for us and the crust remained airy and had that perfect crunch without being hard and dried out . Sauce to cheese ratio was excellent, the sauce being tangy and flavorful without being too salty. Waitstaff were pleasant and attentive and service was very good . OK, this is my latest stop in my "Vision Quest" for the best Meatball Grinder in the state. Yes, with Milestone we have another contender. First off, this grinder was classic old school. The type of meatball grinder I treated myself to after paying my paper route bill. The roll was the classic grinder roll, soft doughy on the inside, slightly crunchy on the outside, wide enough to keep every think neatly in place. Meatballs were large and very tasty. Just the right mix of breadcrumbs and meat, great texture, mildly spiced, cut in half and aligned perfectly on the roll. Sauce was very good, though I like mine a little chunkier. Gooey mozzarella melted and baked topped it off. So, this Meatball Grinder ranks towards the high side, but has not yet dethroned the current king. A few tweaks, such as a little more cheese, a little chunkier sauce and this Meatball Grinder could possibly dethrone the king. A solid 4 1/2 stars grinder One more thing, I must highlight is accessibility. This earns the Milestone an additional 1/2 star. Milestone is two minutes off of RT 8. A quick jump on / off the highway and your in back home in 20mins in your pajamas with a Great, Hot, Tasty Meatball Grinder in front of you. . Milestone is definately worth trying, and I'm pretty confident a return visit will be in your near future. Put Milestone on your go to list for a Great Meatball Grinder. Try it out. Ordered a small sausage pizza, short wait time, only 7 minutes or so --that Wood Fire gets them done quick ! Paid $15.03. Right off the bat, could see it was a quality made pizza, better than most in the NW corner of Connecticut. New Haven style, char was just right, IMO. Sauce was slightly sweet. Overall, a decent pizza, still not quite up to the level of my favorite places down in New Haven, but quality nonetheless. Milestone makes a pretty good pie, but I wouldn't call it New Haven style. I think it's a style all its own. The crust is a cross between neopalitan and maybe just a smidgen of New Haven. To add: The pizza has a good char, and the toppings were decent. You can't go wrong with pepperoni, however, the sausage could use an upgrade. The food is absolutely outstanding. I got the chicken and eggplant Parmesan, which was the best Parmesan. I think I've ever had! We did decide to dine in which the ambience was lacking, but the food made up for it. With some simple, updating and removal of some of the extremely bright uncomfortable lights in the dining room, I think that, they could bring in a lot more dining in business About the! The meals are certainly very reasonably priced. I don't know if we would go back to dine-in, but we will definitely be ordering food from there again very soon! read more

Always love to try a new pizza place and we are fans of New Haven style pizza, which this place touts as their style (it isn't). I was torn between the review as parts of my experience were a 2, and parts a 4, so compromised on a 3. We arrived and were asked if we had a reservation. We didn't, and we're told they were back to back with reservations but were able to seat us at a small two-top at the back of the dining area, partway down a hallway, and had to move pizza boxes, brooms, and wipe down everything before we could sit. The "extra" phone (I assume extra) for the restaurant was also plugged into the wall right there and was under my seat so every time the phone rang it loudly rang under my chair. At the time we were sat, there were three larger tables set up for two parties of six and one party of eight, and another table of four was cleared before we received any food. While we ate, a single person was sat at the table for six, served and ate and left, followed by a party of two who were also sat there. The table set for 8 never showed the entire time we were there. I didn't ask to be moved because I get the reservation thing, but it was frustrating seeing all those tables remain empty the entire time we were there while we had people constantly walking right next to my elbow to use the restroom. We ordered an overpriced salad (the cheapest salad on the menu is $14), a Caesar with noted homemade dressing. It was a good size, the lettuce was fresh, and the dressing was very tasty with croutons from a bag. This should have been a $9-10 salad based on what prices seem to be running these days. We ordered a large pizza, half pepperoni and half sausage with onions overall. The pizza was tasty, but more of a NY style than New Haven. Very floppy and airy, none of the nice chew that a traditional NH pizza has. It was cooked nicely with a bit of char. Also bottles of Foxon Park soda which is a great alternative to fountain soda. When we got our bill, we were charged $30 for the pie. Apparently they charge full price for "half" toppings (so $4 each for half pepperoni and half sausage) plus another $3 for onions...$11 in toppings alone. When I questioned the price the waitress advised "they charge by topping". On the way out I stopped at the front to question it again, was told the put a full pizza's worth of toppings on each half. First, why would I want double toppings (and you can judge by the picture if that's true), and why wouldn't they say something when we ordered. So seating and prices....definitely a 2....the food tasted good and the service was prompt and pleasant. One and done for us. read more

We moved back to the area a couple of years ago & have tried a few spots that are good that first bite, but them you realize it's kind of missing something the more you eat. Growing up in Thomaston, we were super lucky to have Vi-Arms & I miss that so much, so I was so excited when we came across Milestone last night for take-out. I saw the price mentioned a few times; for the quality, it's totally worth it, besides, we pay pretty close the same for all the good enough pies we've tried. Everything about the place was great, from the staff being super helpful & kind, fast service & the comfortable, warm & welcoming vibe. Perfectly charred crust, sauce is beautiful & they nailed the cheese. Our leftovers were gone by breakfast. If you dig New Haven style, you need to check them out. The clam pizza was really good and the green peppers on it while different was surprisingly a great addition. Tried the Italian combo grinder and it was excellent.
