Charlotte Cafe has a charming local coffee shop vibe, from the friendly baristas to the communal atmosphere. I've been to the kips bay location a bunch, this UWS cafe felt a little more crowded. The seating here wasn't as intimate, with more of a square floor plan that doesn't lend itself to cozier spaces like the kips bay spot. But the menu is just as good in both locations, espresso drinks consistently hit the spot. Definitely a quality option for a local coffee shop! read more

Good place to get work done. I had an iced coffee with almond milk. It was good. The workers are friendly. They have a good amount of seating but some tables are reserved for people NOT working on laptops. I was still able to get a seat and work. WiFi is good for 90 minutes. They do have food and bakery options that all look delicious. It did get a little noisy around 2pm. Prior to that, it was quiet. read more

Finally back in NYC and this was my first stop! The coffee is fresh and perfectly brewed and the scone was the perfect balance between sweet and savory. Charlotte Cafe is a gem on the Upper West Side. The cafe is conveniently located across the street from the 96th Street station. The atmosphere is super cozy, warm, and clean. Generally, there is ample indoor and outdoor seating, but on some days it does get super crowded and loud inside though. The staff have always been friendly and service is efficient. I usually opt for tea and the mortadella and gouda croissant for a light meal. When it's available, I'll also treat myself to their chocolate bombolini, which is absolutely delicious! read more

Was craving a hot chocolate and this was the closest place in the area, so I decided to drop by while waiting for a nearby art cafe to open. There was a nice ambiance that seemed like it would be good for working, and it was relatively crowded. The hot chocolate came in a nice cup and was tasty. However there wasn't anything particularly special about it, but I suppose I shouldn't expect much as I imagine most people are going for the coffee or pastries. I've now come here for coffee / latte / cappuccino well over a dozen times so I have had ample opportunity to experience the Charlotte Cafe at various times and days. To begin with, the coffee is fresh, smooth and delicious, done to utter perfection. It's obvious the owners care very much about putting out the best possible product to their customers. The coffee cups, spoons and dishes are quite nice, always spotless. The inside of the cafe is spacious with plenty of comfortable seating and has a nice balance between folks on their laptops, reading books and newspapers or just enjoying the company of a friend. The place is kept spotless, as is the restroom in the back of the shop, and that is of course much appreciated by all. It's pretty cool that the shop has a great mix of seating, even including a few bar stool type stools next to a high top table as well as screened-in patio seating. The music is terrific, at least for my taste, and kept at a volume where I hear it just enough as I enjoy my coffee, newspaper and work on my laptop. If Michelin gave out stars to coffee shops the Charlotte Cafe would get 3 stars without question. The place shines and is run tight, even the lighting is wonderful with a great mix of natural light and indoor lamps. But of course what will separate even the best shops apart into the very few elite is the staff and personnel that will make or break the experience of spending time somewhere. The owners of this shop who I recently met are salt of the earth people, honest, hard-working and genuine. I conducted thousands of investigations in my day and in the process became hyper-observant on the human condition and the husband and wife who own the shop made quite a favorable impression on me and their remarkable, upstanding character comes out in their cafe and the way it is run. Lastly, they have done a remarkable job in hiring their staff, who are extremely competent, professional and cordial. They remember the names of their patrons, their usual order and are polite and respectful. If it isn't too busy they will take the time to have some friendly banter but are always working efficiently and professionally. I've seen them handle difficult situations in the shop with compassion and dignity, next level caring about people. Very rarely do I say I'm the grateful one in the patron / restaurant relationship but it certainly applies here. If you have read this review and have a decision to make on where to go to have a coffee and light bite, meet a friend or get some work done on a laptop (the WIFI is flawless) trust me this is a place you want to go to. read more

It wasn't as decadent as some croissants, but it was actually kind of nice because I ate the whole thing and didn't crash after. It was crispy flaky in texture. I was visiting NYC for the holiday weekend and I was on my way to the usual Starbucks, but I saw this lovely coffee shop instead. Upon entering, I immediately felt transported to someplace else. The atmosphere has elegance, its sleek, and fancy. The espresso bar is elevated so you have to look up to make your order. It is definitely at the center of the shop and super impressive to watch them working the machine pressing all the buttons, watching steam come from the machine, ect. The Barrister made a caupocino for me and made a little heart decoration with the foam. So cool! I feel as though this coffee shop has more charm and depth in comparison to starbucks. The also have plenty of indoor and outdoor seating so you can enjoy your coffee and pastry over good conversation. After I had my coffee, the Barrister asked how did I liked my coffee and asked if it was my first time there and we chatted. That was super nice, welcoming and friendly. What an adorable little café! I was exploring the Upper West Side and realized that my phone battery was dying. I Yelped up cafés with outlets and Filicori popped right up. Decided that they would be my breakfast run before starting out my day. The café is conveniently located just steps away from the metro station. When I walked in, the staff was warm and friendly. I' m not a coffee drinker and unfortunately they don't have many tea options here. But for the coffee drinkers, there are lots of options available. They also make a damn good hot chocolate which was what I had. I loved that they do latte art in their non-coffee drinks too. It was so pretty that I almost didn't wanna drink it. It was sweet and rich which was perfect for that winter morning. Also had a "bombelini" which is like a warm custard filled donut. It was so satisfying. They've got free wifi and several places to sit and plug up your devices (phones, laptops, etc). It's pretty cozy inside, but this is a local spot so it doesn't seem to get too crowded. Their pastry case is pretty hypnotizing. Croissants, pie slices, macarons, brownies. Yep, all that... ALL that. Everything looked delish.
