This was our third time trying charred and we've been consistently disappointed. Everything is so overpriced. I don't mind paying when the quality is good but it's just not. The pizza sauce is so acidic and we didn't even get the marinara sauce for the mozzarella sticks, which were like rubber anyway. The salad dressing was like syrup, too sweet. We heard about Charred when we were in the Bahamas in 2021 and on the table next to us was a couple from Massapequa. So us four excited Long Islanders started discussing our favourite restaurants and the couple told us that Charred was their favourite restaurant. But the restaurant was packed! After a 40 minute wait, we were seated. The hosts were great they kept us updated on our table progress. 1st off the food... Everything was delicious. There were 3 adults, 2 toddlers, and a baby. We got the kids penne and 1 meatball which fed all of them with leftovers. We ordered the Margherita pie and the fig/pear pizza which were both fresh and enjoyed by all. We also ordered the fried calamari which was hot and fresh made. Nice and crunchy, you could tell it just came out of the frier. For dessert we got the cookie skillet. It was shared between 2 of us and the cookie was perfectly baked and hot when it came out. It's got an energetic vibe, clearly happy patrons drinking, eating and talking. The food is great, wood fired pizza as well as a kitchen menu. We ordered woodfired chicken wings with catamelized onions, ricotta balls in truffle cream sauce and a stuffed artichoke for appetizers. The artichoke and the wings were absolutely delicious. None of us cared for the ricotta balls, but I believe it was more the sauce than anything else. We only ordered those after reading reviews on yelp, but to each his own it may not have been anyone's flavor profile in our group. We each ordered a pizza so we had a Verace pie and added some red roasted peppers, a broccoli Rapini pie, and a mortadella pistachio cream pie. The broccoli Rapini Pie is slightly spicy but absolutely delicious. The Verace was sublime with the DOP tomatoes and bufalo mozzarella. The mortadella pie stole the show, with pistachio cream, arugula salad and heavenly mortadella on top. There is just a hint of sweetness perhaps a white balsamic or a splash of honey vinaigrette on arugula, perfection! We were way too full to have dessert but I would've liked to try some of the things that I saw on the menu and going out of the kitchen. My friend and I have been wanting to come here for awhile since she lives around the block. It was her birthday so what better day! The menu is really extensive, almost overwhelming. We got the broccoli rabe pizza and the chicken stack. I enjoyed the broccoli rabe pizza, it had nice heat and the crust is thin so it's not mushy with the broccoli rabe on it. The chicken stack was good also, it's a lot of protein. Probably good if you're keto, minus the breading on the chicken. It needed more balsamic glaze, but overall executed well. The place is like a nice pizzeria, very relaxed vibes. The waitress was hard to get a hold of, but the bus boy was excellent and able to help us a couple of times. The hostess sat us in the back next to a rear door that staff thought was perfectly ok to go in and out of despite it being 25 degrees. Nobody said sorry. Had to move. If you like margarita pie I guess it's fine. I don't. The calzone was over stuffed with ham. From what I saw of the meals there were really large portions. Too large. Unappealing to me at least. I've had this place on my radar for a couple of weeks. Pizza has been on my mind for a few days. Tonight was the night. It was crowded when I got there, just before 6. It was either wait 20 minutes or sit at a high top table or the bar. My mom and I opted for a high top. To start, I wanted a Blue Moon...but apparently the tap was out. I didn't like any of the other beers on tap, so unfortunately I settled with water. For an appetizer my mom and I decided to share the Jumbo Pretzel. It took a VERY long time to come out. When it did finally come out it was very overdone, hard as a rock, and burnt. When we told our server (who is also the bartender) she didn't really apologize, but asked if we wanted a new one. We said we did. When our new one came out, some of it was doughy/raw and some of it was cooked perfectly. It's a no for the pretzel from me....but this is a pizza place. Lesson learned is don't get a pretzel from a pizza place! Now for the pizza. We decided on the Speck pie. It had homemade cream, fresh mozzarella, speck, parmesan, and topped with a hot honey drizzle. It had a truffle oil finish as well. The pizza was very yummy! The hot honey drizzle was a nice finish on the pizza. It was a perfect marriage in the end. The pizza isn't a regular size pizza. It's a bit larger than a personal pie, but smaller than a regular pie. It comes with 6 slices. Only shareable with no more than 2 people. Service was...interesting. The bartender was our waitress, but didn't bring us any of our food. Different bus boys brought out our food, and had to go behind the bar each time to ask where food was going with the food in his hands. This wasn't just for us, it was for everyone in the bar area. While I'm a full fan of teamwork, it isn't effective if the bus boy doesn't know where to go. Pies range from $16-$19 each. I would return to try another pie, but not during peak hours. read more

I had an amazing time here. I came on a Friday night and it was packed and was an overall great fun environment. The owner stopped by my table to see if we enjoyed everything, also the waiter was great as well. For the food, I wish I would have gotten the pizza. On the menu it says that they use 00 flour and San Marzano tomatoes so they care about quality and they have a beautiful oven inside so on my next visit I'll try the pizza and will update the review if necessary. It's classic Italian American food, that is slightly elevated. I was surprised because I really enjoyed everything. I personally got the vodka chicken parm with rigatoni and also the broccoli rabe was amazing with oil and cooked fresh garlic slices. I have no complaints about this place. The MVP pizza (seems this pizza combination is on the rise in popularity in newer pizzerias lately) was very good. The stronger slices were the vodka and margherita - the pesto slices while also good were a bit top heavy/wet for those slices. It looked like a flatbread pizza in a rectangle shape. To split, it doesn't keep you very full but does keep you satisfied. Also had Bocconcini & Plum tomatoes for appetizer which was very good. Service was okay. We were seated right away and our waitress was great. Always packed but excellent service. Very cute look to the place with outdoor seating too. My son and I had the Fried Zucchini appetizer. This was my second visit to Charred Brick oven. This time I had a chance to try pizza. I had the Carbonara, very delicious . To start had fried zucchini and then Sirlion Sandwich Special. Which had great flavor. The host who sat us outside was very friendly, kept seeing how we and my girls were doing. This is great place for brick oven pizza and modern Italian food. Why this isn't a higher review is that they seem to have joined the club of restaurants adding a surcharge for using credit cards. This infuriates me. They give you one check with one amount and then change the amount when you give them a credit card and was $40 MORE because of it. Restaurants are not cash businesses. Who walks around with hundreds of dollars in their pocket anymore? The bait and switch with the check is disgusting and I'm sure they're using covid as an excuse for this. The prices are already high enough to more than cover their margins. This is just greed. I love the food but won't be dining here often or even again. read more

Their pizza is so good oh my gosh best ive ever had i think, and their main entrees ive had are just as impressive. BUT. Me and my grandparents have visited there regularly since literally the day they have opened. My favorite item is their mozzarella sticks. Or at least it ysed to be. IT WAS SO GOOD THEY WERE SO GOOD it was 6 crispy perfectly golden sticks with 10/10 fries with it. Now it is only 4 much worse in my opinion larger sticks. BRING BACK THE OLD ONES. My grandparents both also used to love these mozzarella sticks. Since this change we have only gone there twice in the past year. This used to be a once a month place for us. Im very upset. I pulled up the Yelp reviews when I sat down and actually contemplated leaving but decided to approach it with an open mind. My first issue is that the service was terribly slow. To the point that other people were getting up and leaving. That being said it WAS a holiday and I only noticed two servers so let's that it with a grain of salt and hope it's not always like that. We ordered fritto misto which seemed like it came frozen and both the calamari and the sauce was very bland. The pizza we ordered gets mixed reviews. The crust was actually amazing. The sauce was runny and slid right off the pizza. The sopresatta was the move bc it gave the pizza a wonderful kick. The pizza was so thin when were done I felt as if I had eaten the equivalent of one actual slice. My husband also got a chicken, back, guac sammie which I thought was a weird thing for a pizza restaurant to get but they also have things like pretzels and chicken fingers in their menu which actually have me pause about possibly ordering a pasta dish. Based on the quality of the pizza sauce I'm glad I didn't. We paid almost $65 for a sandwich, a pizza and the calamari with just water for lunch and I definitely felt the food and service wasn't worth the price. read more

Have been to Charred many times and always got the antipasto salad. It was always so big couldn't even finish it. Added chicken and it was chopped up and it was delicious. Was there for lunch this past Saturday, February 8 and could barely find the food on the plate. It was so small. The meat and cheese was so tiny. You couldn't even put it on the fork. Cute place to dine in, the brick oven is front and center. Not a great location, as far as parking goes. We ordered for take out. The chicken vodka barely had sauce on it and whatever sauce was there didn't even taste like vodka sauce. The ricotta balls were bland, and the truffle sauce was okay. Could've used more truffle. The balls had a weird texture but maybe because it was take out and not eaten fresh at the table. Speck pie was delicious, it's like prosciutto but crispy and less fatty. The Mikes hot honey added good umami. All in all it was definitely better than the vodka pie. Would like to try the other food if or when we go back. read more
