It was pink on the inside and not fully cooked.......upon arriving the host gave my date, Bertha, a menu as we were celebrating her 70th birthday....Sadly, the menu said "happy birthday Randy"..... they forgot to give her a dessert and as we waited and waited.. they finally came and brought her the complimentary birthday dessert in a to-go box, which was fine. Sadly, it was an ice cream brownie.... not exactly what you want in a to-go box. Very disappointed..... and then as you can see ...their response was "here's a link to share your feedback" ..WTH?? Last night, the Sea Bass and Chicken with vegetables were overcooked. I have a dairy allergy that I told them about but I know that they used butter because I had a reaction. It seems that there was a lack of communication between the staff and the kitchen. The person who worked at the bar that took our drink order seemed to hate everyone wearing a chip on her shoulder. We live in the neighborhood and are rel regular custodian the Genesee Chart House. We went with 2 other couples for Thanksgiving dinner and we were very disappointed. They were very busy, apparently under staffed and defin unprepared. They ran out of butter but came up with more after a considerable wai. They ran out of gravy but didn't make any more. We were hard pressed to get water refills and had to wait long times for everything. Turkey was extremely dry S was the dressing. Our waiter was very personable but clearly over his head. Would give 1/4 star if possible. Extremely slow and poor service. The meat I ordered took more than 45 minutes to arrive. Meat was cold when it did show up. Showed up with second cocktail that I didn't order. Desert still didn't come. After another 50 minutes we left out of frustration. Sure wouldn't let anyone or their dog eat here. Prices do not reflect food quality and non-existent service. This place used to be nice. Lots of other places to have dinner that comes on time, hot food is hot and desert comes in a reasonable time and the server doesn't ignore you for most of the time we were there. The food was amazing. Couldn't have asked for a better meal. I had the KC strip and my husband had the Elk medallions with shrimp. Nice atmosphere overlooking the Denver city lights at night. We had a great experience with this Chart House location several weeks ago. My boyfriend & I were driving from Denver up the hill to Evergreen, right past Genesee, in the midst of a snowstorm and without any dinner. We called the Chart House, & they actually prepared dinner & dessert, then stayed open late enough for us to pick it up when we were were caught in traffic among drivers without snow tires. The Chart House staff was super friendly once we got there, & the food was good. We'll definitely be back under less fraught circumstances! read more

After having a bad experience at the Chart House over Thanksgiving, we finally decided on a Monday night to give it one more try. Should have known this was a bad idea after standing at the host desk over 10 minutes before finally being seated. There were only two families and one group in the main dining room at the time. After getting a salad and Oyster Rockefeller that tasted like it had been pre-made and rewarmed (bad), noticed that everyone else in the room were all waiting for food. No one was eating. Finally after being there over an hour, we informed the manager to cancel the rest of our order and we were leaving. His only comment was you should expect to wait over an hour or more for "fine dining"! No mention of any comp for a night wasted which a real restaurant that even cared would normally have considered. Really? read more

For the LIFE of me, I can't figure out how this place is rated 2.5 stars on Yelp (especially when it's 4.1* on Google). This is a perfectly solid steakhouse with some unique flair and dishes. Between my wife and I, we got the shrimp/mango stack, lobster/shrimp carbonara, and mac nut mahi. She got a non-alc beverage and I got 2 of the speciality drinks (the $30 ones they make at your table). The food was really good! The non-alc beverage was suprisingly good too, I usually don't care for mocktails. I was underwhelmed by the flavor of the shrimp itself, but the rest of the food was really good. We'll definitely be coming back because I saw someone get the NY Strip and boy did that look/smell delicious. The only reasons I give it 4 stars is because 1) The service was *remarkably* slow for a Tuesday night. 2) One of the artist cocktails I ordered appeared to be whiskey in a frozen ball that you cracked open. I got a glass of whiskey with a half-melted half-ball of ice. 100% not worth the $26 so I felt pretty cheated on that one. 3) The shrimp was meh. I will say the servers were terrific, all very nice and friendly. So, solid 4* joint. And if I had to make a recommendation, a place like this needs mac and cheese on the menu, too.... read more

Last time I was here was probably over 10 years ago for a friend's wedding and also for dining. Even though it's been a minute I glad to know nothing has changed when it cones to quality of food, beverages, and service! I had a great view of the city and mountains at sunset so we could show an out of town guess the spectacular views and great food of Colorado. Overall, our experience was just ok. We had gone to the Daytona, FL location and were amazed by both the food and service but this location left us wanting more. Our service was decent, just slow. They were out of the moscato wine I had ordered, which is usually available at every resturant. The suggested wine was just okay and took a bit to be delivered to the table after I had also waited to order the substitution. However, the chocolate bourbon cocktail was amazing and would order one again! Previously we had gotten three crab cakes with an order, making just the one feel lack luster. I ordered the lobster linguine, which was just ok and a pretty small portion. Mahi mahi was good, but could be easily replicated by any at-home chef. The lava cake was amazing per usual, and prompted our visit this evening. Would come back for cocktails and dessert, but likely not a full meal. Lastly, if the resturant is going to ask in reservation booking if there is an occasion - it should be at least mentioned. As usual, this post is a little late. I decided to take my bride out for a nice early dinner. This restaurant was running a three course meal special for the month. I had wanted to try The Chart House last year, but wasn't to sure after reading some of the mixed reviews. However, a couple months ago, they were running a three course meal "shrimp inspired", and figured I would pull the trigger and give this place a chance. We decided to arrive a little early, before they opened (they don't open till 4:00), to ensure that we were able to get a good window seat. When we arrived, we were greeted by a nice young man (sorry I forgot his name), and he was wearing his mask, and social distancing (which was much appreciated, considering COVID-19). We asked for the best seat in the house, and he escorted us to a great window seat overlooking I70, looking eastward towards the Denver Skyline. Grace was our host, and she was very nice and courteous, she suggested their shrimp inspired dip, which was great. However it was served with tortilla chips, which didn't do it justice. So we used some crackers from another appetizer that we had and the taste was much more flavorful. We both had the lobster bisque, which had pretty good flavor, considering were a land locked state. We had our main course, then we had our desert which was chocolate lava cake, was to die for. All of the food was spectacular, with the exception of the tortilla chips with the fancy dip, the service was stellar, the ambiance was nice and cozy, and the restaurant was adhering to the COVID-19 requirements, with regard to the social distancing restrictions. You should honestly give this place a try, if you looking for a unique experience. We're looking at going back at a later date, to give other parts of the menu a try. read more

We came here on Thanksgiving and will not be returning. There were no oyster crackers for the clam chowder. The salmon was undercooked. I ordered prime rib medium well and received it medium rare. The stuffing on the turkey dinner was dry and they did not have any to-go glasses. What a waste! read more

Service was lackadaisical at best. Hostess just handed us menus and told us to go find a table. Waitress was MIA most of the evening. My companion, who is a former restauranteur asked her "Are you having a bad day?", just to spare her feelings instead of "Where the f*** have you been?" My companions had the salmon which they liked, but my prime rib was disgusting. Cold, raw, tasteless, ugly. I was too polite to send it back. I sincerely thought about going to the restroom and trying to make myself throw up. Harsh judgement? Yes, but this is a relatively high priced restaurant and we expected, and deserved, better. It's interesting how life in quarantine has ushered in the era of defining the patrons experience thru a restaurant's ability to nail its menu in a to go only forum. I've now ordered my second take home dinner here and the first one was on point. However this second time of ordering what I would consider a fancy date night type dinner was vastly different than my previous meal. One of the 18oz prime rib was vastly thinner and markedly smaller in size than the other, ergo also much more well done than it's requested medium rare. The side dishes were also a bit of a bland reduction in size, flavor and flare than the first supper. Which is a disappointment considering that both take out experiences were over $170 each time and to have a sliding scale going in the not positive direction but to still maintain the price point is a concerning issue. I know it's a different time that we are in right now, but still consistency is something you should be trying to obtain especially right now. I didn't want to post pictures of the main courses because my hope is for them to step up to the bar and maintain quality moving forward. So I'll show their mud pie dessert and I'll give them a hats off for a fairly diverse wine list! read more

We went to the chart house in Genesee on Sunday, 2/25/2024. The menu had NO vegetarian options at all. The menu could have been prepared in 1950. I've been a vegetarian for 30 years and am always able to put something together. Not at the chart house! Our waiter told us the menu is old world French. I told him I had no problems eating vegetarian food in France. I ended up with the mashed potatoes. Nothing else. What a crappy and pricey way to spend the evening. We won't go back unless we eat first. What's the point doing that. We won't return to the chart house. I wish there was a zero star review. read more

Last visit was 10 years ago,this place has changed for the worse. The plates that were on our table weren't clean. I ordered coconut shrimp my wife ordered macadamia nut crusted mahi. The mahi showed up with what seemed to be maybe two nuts on the fish, the piece of fish couldn't have been more than 4 oz at best. The mahi was overcooked and covered with some kind of "salsa" that was totally overpowering, whatever they are putting in what they call "mango sticky rice" was awful. So disappointed in our visit, we love the view but the food has gone way downhill don't waste your time or money eating here. Oh I almost forgot to mention, the server asked if we were going to want a lava cake as it takes 30 min we said yes. We stopped in here for dinner in Golden Colorado. The idea was to have an early dinner on the way to the Denver airport. We walked in and we're greeted very warmly by the hostess to our table and then we were greeted once again warmly by our server Dean. We decided to split a prime rib dinner and get a salad bar. We have been here at least once a year if not twice as it is one of our favorite restaurant to dine on a special occasion. Food is always good regardless of what we select. Most recent visit was about 2 weeks ago to celebrate birthday & anniversary and weather was perfect so we opted for outside patio sitting. Pomegranate or mango mojito is highly recommended. Wine selection is great for bottle, however not so great for glasses options Grilled shrimp with thyme sauce and calamari appetizer is always one of our favorite. Pasta and grilled salmon were wonderful and so was the lava cake. The only disappointment area for this visit was the lack of acknowledgment for our celebration request when I made the reservation, I was asked if any celebrations for this dinner at which time I mentioned "yes" and informed the host of the two celebrations, however when we arrived to check in at least the hostess commented of how rare to have two celebrations in one dining. Maybe I was expecting too much thinking that there will be some sort of "celebration" acknowledgment for our dinner for the night and there was none Overall it was a great dining night for us compared to previous visits which were not met as fine dining standards. Yikes! Just leaving dinner for our 21st anniversary. What a nightmare!! Where to begin? Chardonnay was room temp. Server never came back after appetizer was delivered to ask if it was okay, which it was NOT. 18 oz. Prime rib was at least 8 oz. fat. Service was abysmally slow. Tables all around us were asking about where their food and drinks were. Customers were getting frustrated and leaving. Kitchen out of 9 oz. filet??? How does that work? It took 20 minutes to get seated after having a reservation, 30 minutes to get our drinks and 45 minutes to get our soups after ordering, and almost 2 hours later to get our actual food after placing an order. When I asked for a status or the reasons why it was taking so long she just responded saying we were next in line for our food (of course). Mind you that I purposely made my reservation for an earlier time to avoid the crowd and many tables were empty so I was extremely baffled. Our Waitress never apologized or acknowledged the long wait times nor bothered to check in between drinks, soups, dinners, or dessert to see how things were doing or if we needed something. If we did need something we had to hunt and chase someone down. Prime example would be when the Steak knives were forgotten (even after waitress said she would be right back with them so that we could eat). After staring at our food for 15 minutes realizing she was long gone and never going to return with our knives, I had to chase someone down for knives. When waters were low I had to chase someone down for a refill. These are minor things that are basics for a place that claims they are an "exceptional dining" venue. After placing our order almost 2 hours ago for key lime pie we were told they were sold out so my mom's only other choice was the cheesecake since we would have to wait another 30 minutes for lava cake (which mine was dry and overcooked btw). The entire 3 hour dining experience (what should have taken only an hour) was very disappointing for a $300 bill. I won't be returning. I'll give other CH locations a try since other locations seem to know what they are doing, but not this location. Lobster tail also looked and tasted raw. Bill was wrong and had to chase someone again to fix the bill. I could go on and on....Just a very annoying dining experience that was not pleasant at all. For Christmas day this was a BUST!!!! When the food arrived, it was room temperature on all plates, as delivered by someone other than waiter. The prime rib was rubbery and the fish was dry. And nothing was cheap, of course. Bizarre and highly disappointing experience at the Chart House tonight. Walking in, it seemed like it had some potential. Being an older restaurant, it had some unique architecture and what appeared to be a remodel sometime in the last 5 years or so. The center of the restaurant was kind of interesting though - basically like an abandoned buffet with sneeze guards. I would've converted that space into a focal point bar if it were my restaurant. Perfect space for it. As far as the service- once we sat down, the server wished us a happy anniversary, which, it wasn't, and it was a little awkward of course. Next we ordered drinks, they were out of the IPA I requested. No biggie, I switched to what they did have on tap. My wife ordered some wine. She got hers first and it took about 45 minutes just to get my beer, which was frustrating because she didn't want to just drink by herself, and it just put a damper on the experience. Maybe comp the beer as a goodwill gesture? Once we ordered our food, they were also out of 2 other menu items that I tried to order. I ended up ordering the Filet Minón and king crab legs. My wife got the Mahi. The steak was definitely rare instead of medium rare, but ironically it was over cooked on the outside. Usually I like the char but it was like they didn't scrape the grill or something and it had a very strong carbon taste to it. I've made better filets myself at home with my Sous Vide. The potatoes were luke warm, and the king crab legs were rubbery, a clear sign of either over steaming or over boiling them, which makes them very difficult to crack, a first at a restaurant. Overall, the service really ruined the experience above all else. Our waiter wasn't super friendly or attentive either. When we got our check, it all dawned on me- I noticed that it said that all tips were shared across the staff...which A, doesn't encourage the server to go above and beyond, and B, doesn't make the patron want to tip well if someone DOES go above and beyond, knowing it won't go to them directly. Quite a bad business model, as this clearly drives poor service and lack of accountability. For a $175 meal for 2, the value was definitely lacking for the price - $45 filet, $45 King Crab- mostly ala carte..for that price, you really expect both good service and quality of meal. Not only will we NOT be coming back, we are going to share this feedback with friends and family too. I'm honestly shocked this place is still in business and that we actually had to book a reservation, especially after reading the other reviews too. I hope the owners address these issues. Chopped Salad: with blue cheese dressing tasted like it had a vinegar base. The server brought us (2) Reisling glasses of wine instead of Chardonnay. After we brought it to his attention, he apologized and said he pick up the wrong bottle. Then served 2 glasses of warm Chardonnay. When brought to his attention he apologized and said he would find a chilled bottle. Then we got partially chilled (mostly warm) Chardonnay. Macadamia Crusted Mahi: this was a CH Specialty but was completely flavorless along with the miniscule mango salsa on top ~ zero flavor. The Sticky Rice it was served with was even less flavorful if that is even possible. The Asian green beans were shriveled and greasy, and my husband thought there was sugar on his green beans. The tiny basket of tiny bread was microwave warm so it was like rubber trying to cut or peel apart. Such a disappointment. read more

With our busy family life, we were excited spend a rare & precious date night visiting The Chart House for the first time. We arrived at 8pm on a Saturday night and waited well over 15 minutes for anyone to even come up to the host station. The couple in front of us had waited even longer! We saw the manager lay eyes on several times, but still nobody came. Despite being a Saturday night, I would not say that the restraunt looked very busy. Also, there seemed to be an excess of employees wandering around, so I would not say they were short staffed. Finally the manager came to the host station and seated to two waiting parties. We opted to sit in the lounge because it had a cozier atmosphere. We ordered food from both the bar menu and the regular restraunt menu. Both orders had very small portions at extremely high prices. Additionally, my husband ordered 2 Manhattans (his usual drink) and found the mix, quality & quantity to be disappointing & subpar. All in all the food & drink were unimpressive & meh. But the loomimg issue of our evening was the treatment by our waitress who doubled as the bartender. All evening she was openly and inappropiately flirtatious with my husband, while being dismissive & outright rude to me. It was so overt, that my husband was extremely uncomfortable and wondered if we should move to one of the dining room tables. I understand that she was most likely angling for a tip, since he clearly had the wallet - but guess what, I decide where we go and we will never, never go back to the Chart House! read more
