Went on Tuesday they sat us down and we waited while 5-6 employees hang out at the bar talking and having a blast no one came to our table for 15 min. I don't like to say anything cause I get embarrassed but my mom asked the lady kindly behind us that was making napkins with and wrapping them with utensils if we have a waitress. The waitress came out looked like we bothered her we ordered right away cause we drove 8 hours to get there. She was just dark energy all around ruined the mood. Made reservations for a Friday dinner to celebrate my brother's birthday. The ambiance was outstanding and the food was fantastic. We were seated next to the giant aquarium which added to the atmosphere. My brother ordered the grilled sword fish and my wife ordered the grilled sea bass topped with Avocado and pesto. I am a king crab freak, so I ordered the pound and a half king crab. We devoured everything and everyone enjoyed their meals. The Asian green beans were a nice side dish to the fish and I got to steal some from my wife. When visiting Downtown Las Vegas, I asked my dear friend, who has been to Vegas far more times than I had of a place to eat. Since I was visiting The Golden Nugget, which is a very nice yet low-key casino (cannot wait to see it again!), she recommended the Chart House, as she deemed the food excellent and the atmosphere unique. Needless to say, her recommendation was on the money and Chart House made for a wonderful meal! I arrived at the Chart House and was able to sit at the bar, where I was immediately greeted by Tiffany, the Lead Bartender, who was warm and engaging. Immediately, I took in the atmosphere, which was classy yet whimsical, with subdued colors and of course, their large and tall fish tank which is the centerpiece of the restaurant. I then perused the menu, which had many delicious options, making it tough for me to decide. Luckily, Tiffany proved to be extremely knowledgeable of the menu and taking my allergies to all grains except corn and rice as well as eggs into account, suggested the Chopped Salad to start and the Spiced Ahi for a main course. I took in the atmosphere and a short time later, I had my Chopped Salad, which had elegant presentation and all of the vegetables had a fine chop, causing the flavors to blend well with one another. The elements of the Chopped Salad included crunchy and mild palm hearts, cool cucumber, pleasantly acidic tomatoes, a bite from red onion, spicy pepperoncini, and a tangy balsamic vinaigrette. I then received my Spiced Ahi, which was incredible, as the tuna had a meaty taste and melted in my mouth! In addition, the tuna was accompanied a by a slightly spicy wasabi cream sauce, a tangy ginger soy sauce, and slightly sweet and sticky Furikake rice. All in all, it was an amazing meal! In addition to Tiffany, who provided fantastic service by being attentive as well as engaging, making excellent conversation at the bar, I also met Michael, one of the sharply dressed Maitre Ds, who was very kind and made sure I had an amazing experience! In addition, while my meal was not cheap at about $60, I thought the price was fair considering the top quality as well as portions on the larger side. All in all, Chart House is a fantastic seafood restaurant and I would definitely dine there again if I were in Downtown Vegas! read more

I like that this restaurant is right inside the doors of the casino. You don't have to walk through the casino, if you park off Fremont. Great location. We got a great seat right next to the large fish tank! The view was really nice and very entertaining. Our server was very knowledgeable of the fish inside the tank as well and gave us a few fun facts, which was fun! For a starter we got the Kim chee calamari. It was delicious, but a huge amount of food for an appetizer. That huge plate could be a meal, for sure. The lobster bisque was a bit heavy for a lobster bisque. I think they added a little too much cream, but it was still tasty. We got a nice steak and prime rib, both with the mashed potatoes. The steak was alright, not the best, but alright. The prime rib was better than the steak so I definitely recommend getting the prime rib vs the steak. The best part of the meal was the mini lava cake. Now that was truly delicious! read more

Sitting at the granite-bar top gives you a front row seat looking at their gorgeous aquarium while sipping down a well crafted cocktail. My server was friendly, prompt, and helpful. All elements of the meal were delicious...try the menage soup that gives you a small tasting of Clam Chowder, Lobster Bisque, and Gespacho. My main entree was blackened swordfish served Oscar style with a delicious side of spicy fried rice. And dessert was their famous Chocolate Lava cake. Not a single imperfection with any of it. And to top it off the price was sane. You can easily pay double the price on the strip for an equal quality dinner. Chart House was never on my radar. I used Yelp to find a place to have dinner before the book club meeting and up popped Chart House. It turns out that I've walked by it a number of times and never knew it was a restaurant. I only thought it was a bar/lounge. But, behind that large fish tank is another side and that's where the restaurant is. I was seated promptly right along the glass of the fish tank. It's a great place to sit because you are almost constantly watching the fish swim when you're not eating--eating seafood even. I wonder if anyone would like an enclosed, sealed calf range in a steak house. My server was Haley and she was good. She took my order after answering a few questions. I was brought my iced tea (blackberry, bottled Republic of Tea) and a runner brought some bread and butter. The bread was OK. The rye roll was good. It was brought warm. The flat bread, soda wafers were quite dry and not as good. For a started, I ordered the ménage soup. It's a trio of small cups of their three soups--lobster bisque, gazpacho, and clam chowder. The gazpacho was hands down the best. The clam chowder was good. The lobster bisque was average. For the main course, I got their spicy yellowfin ahi served with a ginger soy sauce and wasabi cream and accompanied by wasabi mashed potatoes. The ahi was cooked very rare--just seared and off the grill. It was excellent and the wasabi sauce was very good. The wasabi mashed potatoes were also very good. For dessert, I had ordered the hot chocolate lava cake. The menu states to leave 30 minutes prep time for specialty desserts and when I was ordering dinner in the beginning, Haley asked me about this. I ordered the cake then so there'd be plenty of time to make it at the correct time during my meal. The cake was excellent. Chocolate goodness topped with Heath bar crunch and vanilla ice cream. The meal and service were very good and the fish tank is lots of fun. It was a hoot watching the people watch the fish. The tank is 75,000 gallons and has dozens of fish. Haley told me that a diver is in the tank daily for cleaning and feeding. The only drawback was that I was at the first table in from the lounge and some of the happy hour people were quite loud when they got some alcohol in them. read more

I used to come here a lot for lunch, which is a good deal. I've never been to this location for dinner until last night. It definitely gets more crowded for lunch than dinner. The food is excellent. We had the pan seared scallops ($29) and the seared chilean sea bass ($38) which were both very tasty. Also the sizzling mushrooms as a side ($8), which were also very good. I love mushrooms. The best part was the shrimp cocktail ($15) which comes with dry ice! Really cool effect. The service was very attentive but I got the constant "upsell" vibe from our server. She kept pushing certain products and wanted us to join the frequent diner club. I know this place is a chain but they need to let their server lay off and be themselves. The fish tank is really cool and makes for good conversation. If it seems to pricey for dinner, check it out for lunch where the prices are less and the portion sizes are about the same. read more

The food here was really good but the portions were super tiny. My husbands salmon was only about 2" by 2.5". My cod was about 3"by 3".You get more fish in a fast food filet of fish. We were in Vegas celebrating my mother in law's birthday and the Chart House made our celebration a great one thanks to our server Paul, he was amazing, explained the menu very well and was extremely attentive! We stopped here on a whim to kill some time on Freemont street. The huge aquarium caught our eye, and we liked the bright ambiance with all the glass stairs and bar tops. I think Chart House has one of the best happy hour deals in the golden nugget. The food and drink prices are unbeatable during this time. We tried four different appetizers with the spicy shrimp being our favorite (so much so that we ordered another one!) The tuna nachos and fish tacos were also delicious. Delightful dining room romantically lit with a 75,000 gallon tropical aquarium as it's centerpiece attraction. Appetizer, two salads, two entrees and two soft drinks came in at a little over $100. A bread basket is served with your meal. For several years we've searched for a "go to" restaurant when we want to be sure of a perfect meal at a reasonable price. Chart House is a beautiful restaurant with an extensive--and expensive--seafood menu. We wanted to save a few bucks, so we stopped in for happy hour instead of dinner. Great prices on food and drinks, but while the drinks were a steal, the food was a bit disappointing. My husband had a $3 Miller Lite, and I had two $4 Beefeaters and soda. Healthy pours on that gin! For snacks, we chose the $6 lettuce wraps and $7 firecracker shrimp. Surprisingly, for a place known for its seafood, I much preferred the lettuce wraps, which had a nice combination of chicken and vegetables with a sweet soy glaze. The shrimp were touted as being "tossed in a spicy kim chee sauce," which sounded great, but the sauce was more like the "spicy" (not spicy) mayo served on sushi rolls, and the shrimp themselves were flaccid and flavorless. The fish tank is worth a visit itself, and you really can't beat those HH prices in the downtown tourist corridor. But next time I'll stick with the drinks and maybe an order of lettuce wraps if I'm hungry. read more
