Went on Monday at 4:45pm for happy hour. No seats available. We were told if we wanted to wait, it would be about 20 minutes. They don't take names for a wait list and tell you just wait at the bottom of the steps. About 20 minutes later we were seated at the bar with a nice view of the fish tank in the background. It is 5 years since my first review of the Chart House. We have been back many times and enjoyed it each and every time. Despite being a chain restaurant in a downtown hotel, this is a restaurant that just does everything right. Unlike most restaurants in Strip hotels, valet parking for the Chart House is convenient and free. Use the rear valet and the Chart House is right inside the doors. They honor their reservations. We have never had to wait more than a couple of minutes. The ambiance is terrific with the giant aquarium in the center. Plus the tables are nicely spaced - no hearing the conversation at the next table. The service is close to perfect. And the food is 5 star. We shared the shrimp cocktail - 5 large shrimp, very fresh and very cold with a tangy cocktail sauce. Yummm. Then we shared the ahi. Seared to perfection, very fresh, cut with a fork, melt in your mouth tender. It is not inexpensive but it is worth it. The Chart House has a lunch menu - who knew? While we have eaten here many times, this is the first time for a lunch before a matinee at the Smith Center. Also, as a member of the Landry Club, I get $25 coupon for my birthday. Nice deal! My wife and I split a shrimp cocktail. Every bit as good as I remember it. Five huge fresh shrimp served with a very impressive presentation. Went to Chart House as we heard they had a happy hour. We sat at the bar and the view of the giant fish tank is amazing. My husband and I both each had one of their signature drinks, their take on a mojito (no mint) and a margarita (orange/fruity taste). Both were delicious and we each ordered an additional drink. From their happy hour menu we ordered the fish tacos and later on the Parmesan fries (not pictured). The tacos were good, and as my husband put it, "a nice little HH snack". Have a $24 Manhattan on your menu, it would be nice if it were made with a bit of care and at a minimum... properly. I appreciate the craft of proper balanced cocktails, so when i sat the bar a Chart House and they had a "Torched Apple Manhattan" on the menu i felt the need to experience it. Unfortunately i felt as if i just wasted money and should have ordered something else, or gone elsewhere for a properly crafted cocktail. Manhattan's are traditionally served without ice, and mine was served with a very large "Old fashioned" style cube which proceeded to melt and change my $24 cocktail with each sip. If this is their version of a Manhattan i could have chalked that up to my ignorance of the cube, but the preparation was such an ill display that it pained me to watch as well as pay my bill to be honest. The proper preparation and to be mindful of dilution when mixing your spirits together, you would typically combine your spirits in the glass first, and then the ice, then stir so that dilution is minimal at most...in that order. My bar keep put ice in the glass, then spirits, then LET IT SIT there while she grabbed other drinks for her servers (melting), and then finally stirred it as if she was trying to dissolve protein powder in it vigorously and jabbing the ice. Then they bring out some wood chips to char and smoke, which now seems like a disguise to hide the ill prepared cocktail. Now to some this may not matter, but the phrase you get what you pay for crosses my mind when i had this "experience". It was executed in VERY poor fashion, and i truly believe if you are going to have $24+ cocktails on your menu then your staff should be able to produce them as a professional and with care. My cocktail was made with the care of someone behind a video poker bar like PT's Pub, and would have been $8 minus the smoke as a cover. I am not sure who is to blame here, the bar keep who has no pride or passion for what she is doing, management for not training her properly, or a combination of the two? I have sat many bars and restaurants and have no problem paying for a great experience, but this was very much a let down. read more

My husband took me there from my birthday birthday and our first impression of the waitress we had was incredible. Sadly, was looking forward to having our last Vegas dinner here. We made the reservation through Open Table, checked in 15 minutes early with the hostess, and never made it to the dinner table. The hostess said twice she would send me a text when the table would be ready. Because it is in a casino, we could not wonder far because of my child. Wow! What an amazing experience we'r had at the chat house. This restuarant is located at the Golden Nugget just look for the big fish tank. We'r walked up at about 6pm and dressed really casually asked for a table for 2 and without no hesitation we'r got seated right away. We didn't need any reservations which was great. Our server Chrisallyn was fantastic she made sure we were treated great. We asked for the ceaser salad to strat and she told us it's not like the normal ceaser salad it's different but the chefs can make it the way we want to. PERFECT.. it came split for 2, it tasted fantastic just the way I like it. We got the bread to it came with an assortment to choose from it was most and warm. Now my favorite part the main course oh my I got the filet mignon and it wad fantastic i got it well done she explained to me what it will come out to be and i was satisfied with that. I don't like my meat pink at all hehe... it came with aside i chose the green beans it was delicious. My mom order the same thing but she ordered it medium and it was perfect for her she chose the 3 mashed potatoes. She said it wad good. Chrisallyn checked on us just the right amount if times if we needed anything or if we wanted more to drink. The restaurant is physically stunning, from the stairs going up to the bar to the enormous fish tank the is centered among the tables, it's all very stunning. Service was good, they were understaffed and really trying to make it work. Food was OK, I had a filet which was cooked properly but the potatoes and vegetables were pretty standard fare. We were seated right beside the aquarium! I recommend to ask for seats right next to it, if available. The staff was amazing and so informative when it came to their menu and even the fish inside. A quaint seafood restaurant located in the Golden Nugget. Upon approach the entry is bit confusing and uninviting. The hostess stand is more just the end peice of the bar, which would make sense because to your left is the lounge seating area and to the right is seating for the actual bar. As for ambiance and decor, there is a large aquarium in the center of the restaurant which is filled with beautiful fish. Creates an illustrious allure. At first we were a bit taken back we were brought to a table that was in the middle of the bar/lounge area. We asked to be reseated in the main dinning room. We were really sure why we would be seated in the noisy bar that was filled with groups of people just drinking vs the actual dining room since we were there for dinner. Nonetheless, that was a bit of a upsetting start. After being sat at our table, someone offered us water but spilled it on the table and never wiped it up. We ended up wiping it up ourselves. We were greeted and welcomed by our server and offered cocktails. We tried the infused dill drink. Presentation was unique and new. The drink itself was good, not too strong and a great pre-dinner drink. We started with the oysters. First thought, they were huge. Unfortunately, not the tastiest. They weren't amongst the freshest and required extra lemons to be squeezed over them. Next we had the lobster bisque and chopped salad. The bisque was good only thing is it wasn't very warm upon being served, more like room temp so that was a bit disappointing. Chopped salad on the other hand was crazy good! Side note: they had this brown bread (forgot the name) that was Delicious!! As we moved onto our entree we ordered a bottle of Paraduxx wine. One of my absolute favorite wines. I ordered the lamb chops with fingerling vegetables and a side of creamed spinach. The lamb chops were prepared medium rare. Probably one of the best lamb chops I have had. The sauce served over it was a little strong however it didn't take away from the meal itself. I love creamed spinach and always get it when I see it on the menu so I had to have it. They serve it with crushed bread crumbs over it, different. Food overall was acceptable. It is a pretty average menu restaurant with no real special items or distinct flavors. For the price I feel there are other seafood restaurants that are much more worth it. So why 4 stars, simple...our server Julie was amazing! Seriously if it wasn't for her I probably would have given 2 or 3 stars. Julie was all smiles from start to finish. She had quality suggestions, was extremely pleasant and best of all she connected with us throughout our dining experience. We had a couple small 30 second chats here and there which left us forgetting about our unsatisfactory moments.
