Another girl dinner location unlocked, my friend and I decided to come here on January 18th, 2026 we made reservations for 6:30pm, I received a text from the restaurant at 6pm stating that our table was ready, we were finishing up a drink at another establishment we were at and headed over, we arrived closer to our reservation time, we were greeted by the host and a manager, the manager advised us that they validate parking if you dine at the restaurant, which is great because the restaurant is right when you enter the rush tower. We knew the Chart House already being from Boston so this was a lovely little treat. Brandon was our server and he was also Bostonian brethren so we had a blast with him! He was excellent, as was our food. My lobster bisque hit the spot. The salads were a great size and very filling. I've been to the Chart House before, but that's in longboat Key Florida. Going to the one in Vegas at the Golden Nugget was a completely different and underwhelming experience. Let me start first with the positives. Our server, Danielle was a delight and very sweet. Before I begin, in the restaurants defense, this is where you typically go for seafood, but we weren't necessarily in the mood for seafood. Rather my wife was in the mood for a steak and I was in the mood for prime rib, which I had before at the Florida location that was cooked perfectly. Ummm... not so much here. I asked for a medium rib prime rib, and 10 minutes later Danielle came out and said all they could offer me was medium, which I found curious. What I ended up getting, taste wise (visually it looked medium) was closer to medium well and it was just tasteless from a flavor profile standpoint, and not something I could even finish halfway through. My wife's New York strip was no different. She asked for medium rare and she got medium well and the flavor profile just wasn't there whatsoever. This was a part of a larger underwhelming, Vegas trip, where we tried a dozen new restaurants we hadn't tried in Vegas before and only three passed the test. We've been visiting the Chart House Happy Hour in the Golden Nugget for over a decade. It's now become so popular that people line up before the 4:00 pm opening on weekdays. We were fortunate to be first in line to get our seats at the bar. Happy Hour menu includes beer by the bottle, wine by the glass and a couple of special cocktails. The Blood Orange Margarita was on the happy hour menu but the bartender was gracious enough to make me a plain one instead. Food was very tasty. We looked at the menu that was passed to us from the other guests that were sitting to our right as they saw we were just sitting twirling our thumbs. Everyone was very friendly, kind and helpful ... guest wise. When the bartender was ready to take our order, we tried to make it as quick and efficient as possible as we understand they are busy. We ordered a dozen oysters, the chilled grilled shrimp cocktail, I had the New York steak while my bf ordered the sea bass as the lobster risotto's that comes with it sounds delicious. Once again while waiting for our food, we just keep getting the good old entertainment of that one bartender who can't stop complaining and talking crap the entire time throughout while waiting and trying to flag down the order one for a refill of my diet soda. Ha...ha. Other than that we just try to keep our focus to the dishes swimming by in front of us. We figured, it happens. We have both worked in the industry before and can understand busy nights on special occasions. As long as the food is good, we are fine. I'll give more details on the experience of the food later. When the main dish arrived. We noticed the sea bass came with a side of rice. Like steam rice. Not risotto nor lobster. I flagged down the bartender just as she walked by letting her know of the situation but right away she said they were sold out of the lobster risotto for the night and all they have was the rice and that's how they have been serving it for the rest of the night, smiled and walked away? Huh? In my mind I can't understand how can the restaurant not advise us the risotto was out and being replaced by steamed rice? My bf is rather soft spoken when it comes to giving others trouble so he was going to just eat it as is but I just can't. Not only there is a price difference between steamed rice and lobster risotto but that was actually what caught our eye on the menu hence picking out that particular dish. I was also surprised that nothing was offered in exchange of the rice? No asparagus or anything? I flagged down the bartender once again in her rather too busy demeanor to serve or check in with us until she sees fit for herself. I explained to her that the risotto was the reason why we chose this dish and that's when she finally told us that SHE THOUGHT we ordered the OTHER sea bass dish that came with the rice hence why it came with rice and not the risotto (when we ordered, we pointed to the item on the menu to her and ordered so it's easier for her to see what we would like to order. I dined at Chart House for the first time last week and while I didn't love my experience, I will probably return. Located in the Golden Nugget downtown, Chart House is easily identifiable by their showpiece: a giant saltwater fish tank! The restaurant surrounds the tank so you can watch the fish swim around while you dine. It's really cool. The rest of the restaurant is not. The atmosphere feels extremely dated, in a "contemporary" style that feels like it came out of a mid-1990s time capsule. The decor needs an update badly and, considering how pricey the food is here, I would expect the dining room to be a bit more upscale. Our waiter was a little uptight, especially when we didn't order bottled water or alcohol. He got a bit more casual when we ordered several of his recommendations from the menu. We were served a pitiful bread basket with just three small selections. The bread was warm, but had either been held too long in a warming tray or had straight up been microwaved. The bread was TOUGH and had that wrinkly exterior texture that bread gets when it's not fresh. Epic fail on the bread basket. I had the crab cake appetizer and my husband had the ahi tuna. Neither of us liked our appetizers that much. There was nothing "wrong" with them, it's just that neither knocked our socks off. In fact, we both agreed we would not order either of these dishes again. The crab cake was astoundingly mediocre for a seafood restaurant, and the soft shell crab was deep fried with too much breading. It tasted both fishy and like old oil, and that was quite unappealing. For dinner, he got the prime rib with a side of mushrooms, while I opted for fresh grilled halibut with a side of Asian spiced green beans. Both of our entrees were excellent. The beef was perfectly cooked and tender, and he couldn't stop raving about the mushrooms. I had requested my halibut be cooked more on the medium-well side, and the chef did a fantastic job. The doneness was exactly how I like it. I was surprised to see a very large portion of seasoned rice with my fish, and it was so tasty! The green beans were good too. We had so many leftovers because we knew we wanted to save room for dessert! We chose the ice cream flight to share. The flavors of the day were fresh strawberry (sooooo good), chocolate s'mores (equally delicious), and fresh watermelon (this would've been great as a sorbet, but creamy watermelon was just...gross). The ice cream is all made in-house and the flavors change frequently. Get this if you love cold, sweet treats. Speaking of leftovers, I was surprised when we were given styrofoam containers to box up our own food. Usually at a nicer restaurant, you get sturdy plastic containers that are microwaveable or at least the waiter will take your plate back and box it up for you. I found this strange and kinda awkward, especially as the styrofoam boxes were very flimsy and a bother to handle. The service was good, but one thing really irritated me: the bussers who would literally stand around watching us eat. The second (and I mean the very SECOND we were done, or it looked like we were done), one of the ladies would run over and snatch the plate right off the table. This made me feel stressed and rushed, and one time she tried to grab my plate before I was even finished. It's worth mentioning that the restaurant was a ghost town when we were there, like maybe two other tables the entire time. Not sure if it's always this slow, but it was a little weird. If you are a Landry's Rewards member, make sure to put in your number. You can rack up major points here because the prices are quite high. We dropped a couple hundred dollars here, and it would be easy to spend much more if you ordered cocktails or wine. The cocktail menu was very appealing, by the way. Chart House would get a 3 star rating if not for the main course and ice cream, so now I know to skip the appetizers and go straight for the big plates (and dessert). read more

This is a nice restaurant in the downtown area of Las Vegas. When you come to downtown, the prices are definitely a little cheaper than down on the strip. We arrived a little early, but we're seated promptly by the large fish tank, which is an amazing view. All three of us got drinks, but I got the torched Apple Manhattan, which was worth the price just for the pictures and entertainment value. It tasted really good. For appetizers, we got the calamari and a bowl of lobster bisque. The calamari was amazing, but the lobster bisque tasted almost like pure butter. It was OK. For my main course, I got the Macadamia nut mahi-mahi, which was pretty good, but honestly not very visually appealing. My daughter got the specialty platter which was all fried seafood, which she enjoyed, but it's a lot of batter. My wife got the Spiced ahi tuna which she said was decent but not as good as she had hoped. She likes it barely seared which she asked for specifically. The service was excellent. However the food left a lot to be desired. My husband ordered a filet medium rare. It arrived well done. The meat quality was questionable and absolutely not of a filet. My scallops and shrimp which topped my fish was so over cooked it was chewier than my husband's steak.
